[Notre Dame]

Snake nodded to Jenny.

“You keep safe too. I’ll try not to let any of them actually reach this place.” Snake assured her, and then he headed for the door, with his sniper rifle slung over one shoulder and the radio pack on the other. Snake was suddenly grateful he wasn’t going far.

[…]

Alice nodded in confirmation to Didymus. “Yeah, I’d rather be inside. I’ll hunker down and cover the front entrance. Orland will be patrolling. We’ll do everything we can to keep the Spear, and the Notre Dame for that matter, safe.”

[Chattes Noires]

Musashi frowned. This was dirty business. He didn’t like the idea of manipulating them, or of lying to them… but in truth, he was willing to do both if he absolutely had to. He had seen what the Nazis were capable of, and he wanted desperately to stop them from descending on France and the rest of Europe.

“I’m here because I need your help. I realize that the entire Paris Assault Force has good reason to stay loyal to your old commander… truth be told, it’s weird for me to even ask otherwise, considering I’ve been in his shoes.” Musashi admitted, lowering his guard.

“… but the truth is, I have no choice. Unlike your team’s former commander, I’ve been inside the Imperial Palace. I’ve seen what the Emperor is doing… and I can tell you this… he’s changed. He’s not the same man who raised me.” Musashi admitted, and his voice faltered for a moment.

“… It hurts me to think it, and… it’s hard to say it aloud… but the Emperor is making bad decisions. Right now, Japan and Germany are becoming very close… and there’s nothing good that can come from that for either of our countries.”

His face turned stern once more. “I wouldn’t ask your girls to betray their commander if I didn’t have to… but none of us might have a future if I don’t.”

Aiden smiled brightly as Didymus said it was okay that she got to accompany him, if at least only for a little bit, then paused as Erica tripped and caused a small disturbance.

Zadkiel just raised an eyebrow and shook his head, glancing towards his daughter again who was still looking towards Didymus.

“I'm sure with all of us together, we can stop the bad guys,” Aiden said, confident, if also a bit naïve. She paused for a moment, then looked up to Didymus, “So do you want to check outside then?”

Mostly Aiden just wanted to try and be more alone with Didymus, though she has no idea what she'd do even if she was alone with him in a room besides blush and be awkward.

Though Didymus may be thinking Aiden just plans on stabbing him repeatedly with a knife. D:

Didymus paused as Aiden asked if she wanted to check outside.

He shot a look to everyone else, as if to ask for a search/hunt should he not return, or to be ready...though it was hard to communicate that in a look.

"I suppose we can survey the perimeter..." he said. "...gotta get an idea of where everything is..." he said.

He would have to speak to Erica and Alice, for that matter, later...just a bit later. A quick perimeter sweep wouldn't take too long.

Chattes Noires

The lady clapped, slowly.

"So the boy has his heart in the right place...but their former commander has been to the palace, or at least will be. He's the Japanese Navy's rising star, after all. Already has quite an impressive record in China, from what I gather..." she said.

"...they will need to spill their full knowledge of their commander. I know the details of WHY the Americans want this information. They will set up a RIVAL for him. One who will systemically hunt down the Tokyo Assault Division one by one, and eventually kill him. And you know he'd do it, too. I do wonder if it would be good to unleash such a man against what could be one of Japan's best. Personally and militarily..."

She paused, raising an eyebrow.

"Some food for thought. Anyway, getting the cooperation of my little ones with this knowledge will be difficult. And they can probably all guess something to its effect. I'm not sure I would. If it weren't for my late husband, I'm not sure you'd be here..." she said.

"And there; I refer again to matters of the heart. We Parisian women take them rather...seriously. You must be ready for that. One mistake and you could lose that much more information."

Aiden smiled brightly, almost moving forward to grab Didymus' hand, but stopped herself before she did, faltering a little.

“Okay then! I hope it should be okay...” Aiden said. She wanted to stop the bad guys, but she also wanted to try and have a little alone time with Didymus, even if she didn't know what she'd do with that.

She waited for Didymus, intending to follow him out the door.

Didymus was ready to grab Aiden's wrist or step back or something when she moved toward him...but stopped himself as she stopped herself.

With another glance at the rest of the group, Didymus stepped out the door and began to look around...making sure never to leave his back (completely) to Aiden...

Aiden followed after Didymus, walking outside and staying close to him, though not too close, and by his side, smiling. She was smart enough to know Didymus was acting a little odd, but she didn't know why. Was he simply be chivalrous? Did he not actually like her and was just trying to be polite? Did he like her and was just as awkward as she was?

The idea that Didymus thought she could be some kind of assassin didn't even cross her mind, wasn't even in the same world as her.

Instead she smiled as they stepped outside, sighing contently as she felt the sun on her face, stretching for a moment. She always preferred being outside with the sun when she could.

“Thank you for letting me walk with you...” Aiden said after a couple moments, “I know we just met yesterday, but I really like spending time with you... I...ummm...wouldn't mind spending more time with you too, if you can, after this...if that's okay... I'd...like to get to know you better...”

Aiden's face was red as she stared down at her feet as they walked. She had a large crush on this American man who showed up seemingly out of nowhere, and who at least seemed to like her enough to not say no to her being around.

She was mentally berating herself though, thinking she was moving too fast on everything, but she had no idea how to act in such situations, even if things were more normal, and not in the middle of some Nazi plot to steal the Spear of Destiny.

But it couldn't hurt to at least try to get to know him, right? Surely he'd be okay with that. It's not like she was trying to ask him out. No, no, no. Nothing like that. Just a friendly meeting. With a friend.

Of course that was assuming Didymus had any interest in her even as a friend. And wasn't still worried she was some assassin.

Well now.

This proved it. This girl either liked him...very much...or she was only pretending to to get at him.

He paused, reflecting on the concepts that would arise from either situation. He still couldn't say he was sure about her...and what she was. And admittedly, it wouldn't have done her any harm to be less...strange...in appearence. But that's not to say she was NECESSARILY unattractive, and she DID seem nice...and even pious...still, this wasn't the time, necessairly, for such things. He needed to be alert.

"Um..." he said.

"...you...um...that...could, perhaps...happen..." he said. "...you DO seem like a nice girl..."

Ugh, this wasn't his strong suit.

Still, her hair and eyes...

Azmaria...

He shook his head. THAT girl was off-limits. To him at least.

Aiden smiled brightly as Didymus said it might be okay for them to spend some more time together after this, her red eyes lighting up with joy.

“Oh, thank you! Ummm...” Aiden paused, blushing some still, her heart beating rapidly now, “I know this nice little cafe not too far from here that might be nice...After everything is done here though, of course.”

She nodded her head a little, then smiled a bit as she looked back to Didymus, “I'm glad my appearance doesn't bother you... I don't know why my dad and I look this way, but God must have had some reason, right?”

Aiden looked down at her hands, imagining fire burning in them for a moment, but didn't actually make any appear. Not out here, where others could see her, but Didymus already knew that about her too.

“Thank you...” Aiden added, smiling again as she returned her attention to Didymus, moving just a little bit closer to him now.

Didymus paused when she mentioned a cafe...

Okay, remember what dad taught you if you ever were worried about it looking like a date...

"...um, yeah...maybe it would do the squad some good..." he said.

“I'm glad my appearance doesn't bother you... I don't know why my dad and I look this way, but God must have had some reason, right?”

Didymus had to bite his tongue. Her appearance DID bother him, somewhat. He wasn't sure if it was fair to say God caused it, and, as mentioned before, he had seen times where it indeed could be said the red eyes weren't His doing and that they did in fact mean very, very bad things.

She stepped closer, and he moved a foot back...then turned to look around, making mental notes as to the buildings he was told snipers were perched atop...

Aiden paused as Didymus mentioned bringing the squad, frowning a little, her frown deepening when Didymus moved away from her, sighing sadly.

“Okay then...” Aiden said quietly, fiddling with her hands. Despite what other people said or thought, Aiden did think her appearance and powers were some kind of test from God.

“My white hair isn't so bad...” Aiden said after a moment, “I mean...white, it's what brides wear on their wedding day.”

A thought crossed Aiden's mind briefly and she turned very red for a moment, before she continued, “But my eyes...that's what most people are worried about. They're red... so many people see them and think there's something wrong with me. Like they're some sign I made a deal with the devil...”

Aiden frowned a little more deeply, but not at Didymus, but at the world in general, “But they're not! I guess I don't know for certain, but they're just red, like my father's is...And I know he would have made no such deal!”

She turned to Didymus suddenly, clasping her hands in front of her, staring up at him with her big red eyes, “You believe me, don't you? That I'm not evil, just because of how I look...”

Didymus had to stifle a reaction to Aiden saying THAT, though he nodded...

"Yes, it's not a bad color...though human hair is rarely that color but in old age..."

he turned to Didymus suddenly, clasping her hands in front of her, staring up at him with her big red eyes, “You believe me, don't you? That I'm not evil, just because of how I look...”

Didymus had to try to smile or look with sympathy at Aiden.

"Of course I believe you. At least, that you may really not be any more or less evil than the rest of us..." he said. "...I...knew another girl...who kind of shares a trait or two with you as well...I happen to be rather fond of her...perhaps TOO fond...or perhaps it shows I value the right things after all...or both, heh..." he added.

Aiden paused, curious. Someone else like her? Like her father?

“Who?” Aiden asked suddenly, her interest in learning of someone else like her stronger then noticing Didymus' discomfort, “Errr...I mean...”

Aiden was quiet for a moment, “I never heard of any one like my father or I before... I'm sorry, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to.”

Aiden sighed a little, shaking her head, then looked back to Didymus, not sure what else she could say.

“...Whatever happens, I'm glad to have met you,” Aiden finally settled on.

"Oh, it's quite alright..." Didymus said.

"This other person..."like you" may not be accurate, but...just, she may have albinism, her hair was very light, even whitish...and..." he paused.

"...Sister Azmaria. I would work with her on occasion, and...she...seemed...blessed in a more traditional way, perhaps. She was...is, even, quite the singer. It may be blessing upon her, but to hear her sing, the term "heavenly" comes to mind..."

He paused, trying not to imply his own feelings...

“...Whatever happens, I'm glad to have met you,”

"Oh, um, thank you. You DO seem like a nice girl, Aiden. I..." he paused, not sure what to say.

"I don't think I need to tell you there's a role for you to play in this world. Heck, maybe even a place for you to stay in one...um, place, for a while..."

“Ah...” Aiden said, looking down at her hands again. She was fairly tanned, so the chances of her being an albino were pretty much remote. Same for her father, and she had always been tanned.

“I don't think that's the case with me...I don't burn in the sun or anything...” Aiden added. Technically, she didn't burn at all, a nifty side effect of her abilities.

Didymus also mentioned the girl singing well, and Aiden made a mental note to see if she couldn't try and see if she could sing well too.

She could cook extremely well at least, even if she had really odd tastes for her own personal food.

"Oh, um, thank you. You DO seem like a nice girl, Aiden. I..." he paused, not sure what to say.

"I don't think I need to tell you there's a role for you to play in this world. Heck, maybe even a place for you to stay in one...um, place, for a while..."

“I hope so! But I do want to see America before I settle down...Especially if you're still willing to show me around...” Aiden said quietly. “And maybe I'll settle down there, even...”

GRAPPLING HOOK!

New York

Sama’s Apartment

Crystal nodded, taking Sama's arm and motioning for Jeremie and Kimi to come along. She wasn't sure this would end well but she couldn't think of a better idea....

Soon they were out in the street and Jeremie went to work on hailing a cab. Once one stopped in front of them the four all crowded in the back and Jeremie began to speak in a low voice.

"Okay, I really don't think this is a good idea but if you two are coming to this meeting you need to keep your mouth shut the whole time...No questions and definitely no opinions. Just sit and listen"

"Don't worry Jeremie, they aren't children" Crystal told him.

Park

"That's okay, it's easier to ask forgiveness than for permission" Joyce said with a laugh, moving close to him and holding onto his arm. She felt a few stray raindrops, but ignored them. She never minded the rain, she used to play out in it with Blake (much to the dismay of her mother who was terrified she accidentally spark and shock herself or her brother).

The two eventually came up to the bridge where many homeless bums hung out. As soon as they approached they were greeted by a rather large trashcan fire which warmed the girl's cheeks. Joyce looked up at a familiar bum, a guy named Lenny (or at least that's what he told her). The man looked down at the two with a toothy grin.

"Well if it isn't the little reporter! Got any good news girlie?" he asked, slurred. He was obviously drunk.

Joyce didn't seem fazed. She shook her head. "Sorry, nothing new to report but I do have some questions for you guys for a story i'm working on"

Hawkins' House

"Oh darling...Your father makes me so happy..." Melanie said softly "The only thing that makes me happier is you and Joyce. You two are the best thing that has ever happened to me"

Paris

Chloe’s Bar

“So, we didn’t really get a chance to talk much last night with all the commotion… tell me about yourself, Sarai… I-I mean, if you want to…”

Connor moved towards Sarai and the girl stiffened, turning a bit red. She definitely wasn't used to talking about herself... "M-Me? I'm r-really not that interesting....You're probably much more exciting" she said quickly, with a laugh. She then moved behind the bar, pouring herself a glass of water, placing it towards her lips.

"I've lived here for three years now, but my brothers and I get flown back to India some time" she explained with a smile

[...]

"Alright then...don't say I didn't warn you,”

"Same goes for you!" Chloe exclaimed, moving back quickly as Aaron came at her, bringing his leg up to kick her in the face. As soon as she caught sight of his foot (which was much of a blur) she grabbed at in and tugged as hard as she could.
