I can't see what you're imagining
Paris

-Streets-

Jenny nodded back, following Snake quietly as well. She had picked up a number of tricks from him after all...

Chattes Noir

“True,” Aaron nodded, then glanced towards Didymus. He didn't want to talk too much. This was Didymus' stuff, and Aaron had no idea where to go from here in the conversation. Aaron was very smart...But he wasn't a trained agent or anything.

New York City

-Alleyway-

“Either you can accept my help, or we can fight...” Walter said simply to Galv, “You might be able to kill me, but at what cost? We'll surely draw attention to ourselves.”

Galv frowned, thinking. He wasn't sure he could trust Walter... But then he had run ins with Walter in his youth. While Walter could be cunning...he wasn't manipulative, not like this. If Walter wanted Galv dead, it wouldn't be through a set up like this.

“...Alright fine. What do you need from me?” Galv asked.

“I need you to wait...” Walter answered, “You can tell your wife...but don't tell my sister.”

Galv frowned, then nodded, bending down and gathering the groceries. He walked past Walter, who just nodded slightly, stopping by Blake and Samara.

“Come on...we're heading home...” Galv said.

-Hawkins' House-

“Melanie, honey!” Erin smiled, seeing Melanie and hugging the girl, “You're absolutely glowing dear! I'm jealous!”

-Airfield Outskirts-

“You can stay here if you want,” Ethan said to Rica, turning to Kanna as she held his hand, smirking slightly.

“So was I your rebellious phase being with a man who wasn't?” Ethan smirked, “Come on, my car's not far...”

[Paris]

[Shady French Bar]

Musashi laughed a bit at Laila’s joke and he looked around the room. There was the scent of smoke, mixed with the smell of fresh pastries. It was nice… sorta. He had a feeling he could grow to really like Paris. It reminded him of New York, only French-y-er.

“Sure! Drinks sound good.” Musashi smiled.

[Louvre]

Oliver smiled, and felt relieved. He was a lover of things like this, and was happy that it didn’t bore her.

“Weird? About what?” Oliver asked, tilting his head. He noticed the blush on her cheeks, and blinked.

[Eiffel Tower]

“He’ll be fine.” Nanami dismissed the concerns again. She looked out over the city, starring at the buildings and some of the people walking down the streets.

“Of course. This tower is the obvious high ground in the city. It’s an easy vantage point and tactically it makes sense to survey from here.” She turned to Marco. “… I’m actually slightly impressed that you thought to come up here.”

[New York City]

[Shipping Warehouse]

Sama coughed as he tried to catch his breath outside. The smoke was thick, and his eyes were stinging. When Crystal asked where Fisk had gone, Sama merely shrugged and sat down.

“I wish I knew… I think he got away… but we’re alive.”

[Airfield Outskirts]

Rica frowned as he stood up and brushed off his tattered jacket. It was utterly ruined by blood and bullet holes.

“Hey, I’m a demented homicidal bastard too. Give me some credit, will you Kanna?” Rica chuckled.

Chattes Noires

Didymus paused as Alice said her piece.

He sighed, and was quiet for a moment, before finally speaking up, and looking her in the eyes.

"Madam, I can honestly say I am seeking neither the hangman's noose nor do I wish to simply...take advantage...of you. While I meant every compliment I've sent your way, at least partially, I like to think I don't believe in "free love"."

He paused again.

"And I must say, I don't honestly know much about YOU, either, in fact, I don't even recall a Malvin name in German aristocracy...the name doesn't even SOUND German...but I'm not up on German aristocratic studies, so it could very well be the case. But to be honest...I don't really like the Axis either...let me put it this way...if you agree to meet me once more, and don't like what goes on, I will leave you alone from that point onward. I can also honestly say that I shall attempt nothing physically intimate. And, again, that I have no intention of turning you over to German agents."

Their food arrived-delievered by the two girls who had waited on them earlier.

Didymus stared at it and blinked.

"The heck." he said. "What. Is. THIS." The piece of steak before him was roughly the size of his fist-maybe smaller. Some mashed potatoes covered in garlic were beside it, and some mushrooms were off to the side.

The steak itself, however, was covered in sauces of multiple colors.

"They call this a steak?!" he said.

Warehouse district

The men in trenchcoats seemed not to notice Snake and Jenny, and hurried along...

GRAPPLING HOOK!

Paris

Shady French Bar

Laila went over to the bar, grinning up at a rather unimpressed man cleaning out a dirty glass. She leaned against the wooden bar, and started to speak French to him...Of course she had picked up her French from drunken party-goers at her father's house in New Orleans so she probably sounded like a country bumpkin to an actual French person....

A few moments later she was laughing with the man, having apparently said something pretty hilarious to him. She also had two drinks in hand. The girl came back over to Musashi and slid a half full glass of something brown to her date. "I think it's bourbon" she said

Louvre

Adrianna's blush only deepened and the girl stuttered a bit "Uhhhh about...Um...Nevermind!" she said with a slight (and rare) smile, turning her attention back to the picture. "S-So...Why do you like this kind of stuff. No offense or anything, but I didn't have many guys in my art history class back in university."

New York City

Airfield Outskirts

"Yes I suppose you are" Kanna said back to Ethan with a slight grin on her lips as she took his arm and headed to the car. She looked back to Rica "Oh don't worry, I respect you evil too my dear. If I didn't you wouldn't have a daughter now would you?"

Hawkins' House

Melanie laughed, accepting the hug from Erin. "T-Thank you!" she said with a little laugh "Though i'm not too far along, it'll still be quite some time" she then looked up to Jason who had walked up to the two.

"Gonna be a mom again...Geez, I thought you were done after Blake" Jason joked, ruffling his younger sister's hair. He remembered how difficult the woman's last pregnancy was.

Melanie shrugged "It was a bit of a surprise"

Shipping Warehouse

"Auuuugh Jeremie is gonna be so mad" Crystal groaned, finally catching her breath. "Do you think we're in danger? I mean Fisk knows we're on to him"

Crystal sighed, moving close to the man "Do you need to be healed?"

[Paris]

[Shady French Bar]

Musashi briefly considered that it might not be a good idea to drink bourbon – or whatever the liquid was – while in a smoke-filled, shady French bar while. Musashi was not one known for making good personal decisions, though, and he accepted the glass of liquor and took a large drink.

“Wow… powerful stuff.” Musashi coughed a bit. He shrugged and leaned back against the bar.

[Louvre]

Oliver blinked. Adrianna was being strange once again. The young man leaned against the wall and looked over to her as she asked about his interest in the artistic stuff.

“Sounds like the guys at your university are pretty uncultured. This stuff is history! I’ve always found it pretty fascinating.”

[Chattes Noires]

Alice narrowed her eyes a bit. “You’ve dodged my question entirely. You’re right, you can’t verify my story… but at least I’ve given one. You’ve given me nothing but cryptic conjecture.”

She sipped the tea.

“I suppose I will accept your offer… but do not believe for a moment that I am an easy target.”

[Warehouse District]

(…)

Snake followed the guys.

[NYC]

[Airfield Outskirts]

"Oh don't worry, I respect you evil too my dear. If I didn't you wouldn't have a daughter now would you?"

Rica chuckled for a moment. “Oh I’m sure I have plenty of kids out there.”

He’s a terrible person.

[Shipping Warehouse]

Sama nodded.

“Well, maybe… Fisk admitted he’s involved with HYDRA. We can’t prove it to the cops, but it should be enough to get the CIA and OSS involved in taking him down. For right now, though, we should probably run.”

He turned to do so, but then tripped and fell, having to grab Crystal to keep from falling over.

“Okay… yeah I probably do need healing…” He sighed.

Didymus sighed as Alice spoke again, regretting playing this game with her.

"I know that my apologies may mean little, madam, but I am sorry for being like this. I mean you know harm, and if you wish to come to our next meeting armed, please do so...though I may be able to speak, and answer all your questions, tonight...I do apologize...but I can honestly say that I mean you no harm, madam...I do profusely apologize..."

He shook his head. Duty was interfering with his relations with women again...though it was duty brought him to get Alice's attention in the first place...

Warehouse district

The men in trenchcoats eventually went to one run down warehouse, and, looking around, slipped in...

Alice sighed, looking from Didymus to Aaron and then back to Didymus. She was unsure about all of this. Alice was a fearless woman, but she was also very smart and prided herself on never walking into a trap.

Still… these two didn’t seem like Nazis, and she doubted that Hitler would go to all of this trouble just for her. If he wanted her dead, there were easier ways.

“… Very well. I’ll accept your invitation.” Alice decided.

[Warehouse District]

Snake kept following the creepy guys.

Wow, what an exciting scene.

“… Very well. I’ll accept your invitation.”

"...thank you, madam." Didymus said.

With that the show started. One of the girls who had waited on them earlier had appearently taken to a microphone, announcing that this show was the "pride of the Chattes Noires". The large stage in front of the dining room opened, and the show began...

The contents were a group of girls in cat costumes performing choreographed moves.

Didymus' expression grew increasingly shocked as the dance went on.

"The heck is this?!" he muttered. "How much did I pay for this?!"

Most of the costumes were white, except for a brown-haired girl in a black costume...who Didymus began watching, trying to see if he couldn't recognize her...

That...could it be...? It would make sense if that was one of our persons of interest...

Warehouse district

Suddenly, there was a flash of some green light from inside the warehouse, and then...silence. Then another flash, of purple light, it appeared...

...the air may have felt...colder...at least for a moment...

Marco had not known Nanami for a very long time, but he was starting to get used to Nanami's tendency to give backhanded compliments a lot. ...and he wasn't sure that was a good thing.

"...I guess I should be glad I was first here, then," Marco sighed, looking off to the side of the girl, "so at least you wouldn't claim I was just following you like a lost dog. Heh-heh..."

He then fell silent, and looked out at the rest of the city below himself.

Probably what was going to be Marco's biggest challenge, he felt, was going to be DP's trying to post as him this late getting Nanami to begin to respect him like an equal... Or something close to it, in relation to usefulness.

...well, aside from his work on Nanami's personality, but that wasn't critical towards their "mission".

Alice simply shook her head.

“You should try to relax. If you get this worked up over a steak and a show, you won’t last long on the border with Germany.”

She leaned back, sipping her tea and not really paying attention to the show. Instead she was watching Didymus and Aaron.

[Warehouse District]

Snake paused, as he felt the air grow colder. He drew his pistol from its holster, and his knife as well and he soon pressed himself up against the building.

“I’m going into have a look around.” He said to Jenny, and he started to sneak his way to the door. He slipped inside, and started to look around…

[Eiffel Tower]

“… I’ve been followed by worse.” Nanami commented, deciding to just leave it at that and not elaborate. She didn’t actually mind Marco’s company, but she wasn’t exactly the warm and fuzzy sort.

She looked out at the city for a few moments, and then turned back to Marco.

“I don’t see anything too suspicious.”

“You should try to relax. If you get this worked up over a steak and a show, you won’t last long on the border with Germany.”

"I disagree." Didymus said. "Namely because I DON'T get this worked up over a steak." he pointed at the small piece of meat on his plate.

"THIS is not a steak. This is a SAMPLER drenched in NEEDLESS SAUCE."

And he gestured at the stage.

"And that? Meh, maybe some people get a kick out of it, but I suddenly find myself wondering just how much money I lost for it..."

He chuckled.

"But if this is French culture, at least I can say I experienced it..." he chuckled.

He noticed Alice seemed to be watching him...he had to be careful, he thought...

...but it looked like the girl on stage was one of their persons of interest after all...

Warehouse district

As Snake looked around, he would have seen little activity at first...then, in another room, a single man, tied to a chair, apparently looking limp...

“Honestly, you need to relax. The sauce is actually quite good, even if the portion size leaves something to be desired.” Alice took another sip of the tea, and continued to watch the two Americans.

[Warehouse District]

Snake moved slowly and methodically. He was no stranger to traps, and didn’t want to blindly stumble into one. He crept closer to the man in the chair, his eyes narrowed, scanning the room and looking for any sign of enemies.

-Chattes Noires-

“As my sensei told me, never pass up a hot meal, no matter how small,” Aaron said, having eaten his 'steak' in a handful of bites, “If you don't want your's, I'll eat it.”

He smirked slightly, then watched the show some as well, nodding a little.

“How much have hand to hand combat training have you had anyways?” Aaron asked, glancing towards Didymus, “The dance...It's not the same, but some of the same basic concepts. Where you move your body, place your feet. The bare minimum amount of energy needed to perform the action you want to do. I had to learn some dance myself growing up, in learning how to fight.”

Old Man Sensei was...eccentric, to say the least. But then again he had earned the right to be so.

“Heck, if the performers eat these meals too, they'd have to know the bare minimum amount of energy they'd need,” Aaron added, chuckling softly.

-Warehouse District-

Jenny followed Snake, but stayed outside, ear to the door, scanning the outside as well, to make sure no one sneaked on them from the outside.

New York City

-Alleyway

Walter walked away now, Galv picking up Blake carefully, pausing as he looked down towards Samara.

Blake had been insisting Samara was 'real.' It was one thing when a child wanted a place set for their imaginary friend, but when they could be seen and heard by everyone, it made things more...awkward.

Galv briefly thought of Cole, the same sort of shadow person that been with Melanie. He had eventually gone away as well...

But then Melanie didn't seem to have that same sort of attachment that Blake had to Samara...Perhaps it was because Melanie had Galv at the time, while Blake...didn't seem to have any friends...

“Come on, let's go home,” Galv said to Blake, who nodded softly.

-Hawkins' House-

“I'm sure the child will be as adorable as your first two,” Erin smiled, “Have you thought of any names yet? And is Joyce around? I heard she has a boyfriend now, that Sage fellow she was always hanging around with.”

The only people Marco knew of, at least, that had been around Nanami often either in the present, or in the past, were Musashi, the newly-one-eyed brother of Musashi, and someone who he knew well enough from prior discussions not to bring up now, Nanami's father. There probably were others, but Marco didn't know of them, so they didn't matter.

Marco looked down, shaking his head for a moment, saying quietly to himself, "Well, I'd hope I'm not the worst..."

And then with her usual business-like behaviour, she noticed him looking out at the city, and proceeded to just talk about not seeing any suspicious-ness going on down below.

"...it's a nice looking city down there, too, right?"

[Chattes Noires]

Alice listened in on the conversation as she sipped her tea. It was nearly gone now, and she frowned a bit.

“I’ve heard that there was a great American soldier who created an entirely new form of hand-to-hand combat. It’s something I’d like to learn if I possibly could.”

[Eiffel Tower]

Nanami paused. She heard what he had muttered quietly, and she briefly considered how she should respond. In the meanwhile, she kept her eyes on the city.

"...it's a nice looking city down there, too, right?"

Nanami finally turned around, crossing her arms and looking to him.

“… I suppose it is. The architecture is fascinating, but there’s hardly time to admire it.”
