[Sama's House]

Sama didn't have much in the way of fancy clothes, but as he dug around for a few minutes he did manage to find a (somewhat worn) dinner jacket and a pair of nice pants. Once he changed, he returned to the living room with a smile, unaware that some of his papers had been taken.

“Okay! I guess I'm as ready as I can be.”

[Manhattan Cocktail Lounge]

“Not bad. I forgot what a good voice you have.”

Of course, Rica creeped up to the bar, leaning against it and looking to Kanna. As usual, the man had a rather suggestive grin on his face.

[…]

Musashi grinned as he was given the small cup of sake and he bowed to the waitress for a moment. Then he blinked as Adrianna began to fill up a... mug?

“Um, Adrianna, you don't need that much... sake is very strong, you only want to drink a little.”

-Manhattan Cocktail Lounge-

Aaron sighed, hoping maybe his sister had his mother's alcohol tolerance...if not, he figured she'd just pass out, and he'd carry her home.

“Just...be careful...” Aaron muttered.

“She does.”

Sipping a drink, and taking the seat next to Kanna, Samuel grinned.

“That was quite lovely, Kanna,” Samuel said, “I couldn't keep my eyes off of you.”

-Manhattan Streets-

Sage paused, looking around.

“Hmmmm...Maybe the back way?” Sage suggested, pointing towards the alleyway, “If only we had disguises...”

-Hawkins House-

“I don't like the dark...” Blake said, shaking his head, “It...talks to me...”

Manhattan Cocktail Lounge

Kanna looked to the side, sipping her martini with a small grin on her lips as Rica addressed her. "I see you found the place, i'm glad" she said simply, now plopping the olive in her mouth. "The place is packed, perhaps I will get some good tips"

“That was quite lovely, Kanna,” Samuel said, “I couldn't keep my eyes off of you.

Kanna blinked, turning to Samuel who was now on her other side. Instantly the woman's German accent returned...After all Kanna never missed a beat.

"Mister Samuel! I'm glad you could make it!" she said with a pretty smile, moving her drink to the side. "You look simply dashing. Oh may I introduce my new friend...Rica correct?" she asked, looking to Rica as if she had just met him.

[...]

"Don't worry, we Americans are known for our ridiculous tolerance for alcohol" Adrianna explained, placing the cup up to her lips and taking a long sip.

Luckily the mug was big enough to hide the horrible face of disgust Adrianna was now making.

She had never had sake before.

Manhattan Streets

"Quick! Lemme get on your shoulders! We can pretend we're one big person!" Joyce joked with a giggle. Despite this she followed his suggestion and pulled him towards the back of the club, looking for a cracked back door.

"There's one!" she said with a grin, pointing at a cracked window about eight feet above them. She started moving trashcans so they could climb up.

Hawkins House

This always had troubled Melanie, but she pegged it on his intimation....At least she hoped it was.

"Don't worry darling, I won't let anything hurt you, you know i'm not scared of the dark. I'll protect you!"

Sama's House

Sama reappeared and Crystal quickly straightened up, making sure she did not look suspicious. "O-Oh! Great!" she said, rushing to his side and stopping right in front of him. She couldn't help but smile. "You look wonderful, mister detective"

[Manhattan Cocktail Lounge]

Rica raised a brow as this new man appeared and Kanna pretended as if she had just met Rica. That was the second bad sign. Kanna was responsible for those explosions, and she was maintaining a cover.

Rica took a quick drink. He felt sorry for the poor bastard who was getting wrapped up in Kanna's schemes. Not that it really mattered... she was probably responsible for the terrorist attack earlier, and while Rica WAS a spy... this wasn't his job.

“Yes. Rica is correct.” He said at last, playing along.

[…]

Musashi winced as Adrianna took a long gulp of the sake. That... could not be good. The boy let out a small sigh and took a very small sip from his shallow bowl.

Nanami, of course, wasn't drinking. She was a royal bodyguard and she wouldn't do anything that could compromise her ability to protect the prince. She just leaned back and sighed.

[Sama's House]

Sama rubbed his neck. He knew he should be a bit suspicious of those files he saw at her house... and in fact, he should have been suspicious about a lot of things... but then again, she was smiling – and she was very cute. And that combination seemed to dull his detective senses.

“Well thank you Miss. Rose! So, shall we get going to the... err... seedy side of town?”

Somehow he had a baaaaaad feeling about all of this. There was one person known to frequent the darkside of NYC that Sama really did not want to run into...

“Rica, huh?” Samuel said. That name sounded familiar. He had never met Rica before...but he had heard the name from Ethan, sometime in the past.

“Name sounds familiar...” Samuel said, grinning a little, with a small shrug, sipping his beer, “I wager a guess you're an old soldier...Fought the Spanish back in the '90s, maybe?”

Another smirk.

Samuel then turned his attention back to Kanna.

“I like your accent, but don't feel like you have to keep it up just for little old me,” Samuel said, “Though it is quite...alluring...”

“Here,” Aaron said, handing Nanami a glass with a brown liquid in it.

“It's cola,” Aaron told her, “No alcohol content.”

-Outside the Lounge-

Sage helped her put up trash cans, climbing up to the window and peering in.

“It's clear!” Sage said, getting the window in, “I'll help you get in, then be right after you...”

-Hawkins' House-

Blake frowned, walking up to his room with his mother, Galv following behind them, worried about their son.

“...The darkness wouldn't hurt me...” Blake said, as he stepped into his room, the light already on, “But it might hurt others...”

Rica chuckled a bit for a moment and shook his head.

“A soldier? Oh, no, I'm not cut out for that sort of life. I'm just a simple businessman. I work for a company that manufactures the valves used on steam engines.”

This was a complete and total 100% lie. Rica had been in the military in the past, and he currently worked as a secret agent. He was just required to spin the cover story whenever someone asked him what he did, or said anything that could lead to that line of questioning.

[…]

Nanami paused as Aaron handed her a drink. She was about to tell him she didn't drink, when he mentioned it was just cola. She paused, bringing the cup up to her mouth and sniffing it.

It smelled like cola, and she didn't detect any hint of alcohol or some form of drugs. Yes, Nanami is THAT paranoid... but it went along with the job of being a freakin' ninja.

“Thanks.” She said, and she took a small sip of the cola.

Manhattan Cocktail Lounge

Kanna raised a brow, but then dropped the accent. "Well apparently it wasn't that great" she leaned against the bar and ordered another martini. "It's not often i'm surrounded by handsome men...Usually i'm on the lap of a man who reeks of cigars and liquor...Though I have to tell you that i'll be preoccupied in just a bit....I have a bit of a job to take care of."

Of cooooouuuurse she isn't gonna-yeah she is.

[...]

Joyce gave a nod, climbing on the trashcans and shimmying through the window. A moment later she poked her head through and looked to Sage. "You coming?"

Hawkins' House

Melanie frowned. She didn't want to tell the boy that the darkness couldn't hurt anyone....As she was well aware it could.

"The dark won't hurt us baby" she said , dropping to her knees so that she was in front of him. She leaned in and kissed the boy on the top of the head. "We won't let it"

[...]

"It's definitely....Interesting....." Adrianna managed, coughing slightly. That's all she could think to say.

Sama's House

"Sounds like fun" Crystal said, taking Sama's arm as they headed out. She was careful to keep the fect that she just took some of his papers concealed.

Rica was interested in this 'job' Kanna just mentioned. While it wasn't his job to keep her from blowing things up, if she caused trouble that effected his mission then it would be a real pain...

“Kanna,” Rica said as he took another sip of his drink. “Could I speak with you for a moment? In private?”

[…]

Musashi sweat dropped for a moment and looked to Adrianna.

“Why don't you slow down on the sake...?”

[Queens]

Sama led Crystal outside, and back to his car.

“Well, where do you want to check out first?” He asked, getting back to business, still unaware she had takne some files.

Samuel paused, finishing his drink then ordering another.

“Feel free to keep the accent,” Samuel said, “At least, when we get to have some...alone time...”

Samuel grinned, his voice then shifting into his British accent, “And I'll talk like this...”

If Galv and Melanie weren't worried about Blake right now, they'd probably be terrified and not know why.

“I guess you don't drink either, huh?” Aaron asked Nanami, “But I guess that's because of your profession...I just can't handle my drink.”

He chuckled, sipping his own cola. While he had no intention of flirting with this scary girl, he did like making friends, and figured if he was on good terms with the girl, she'd be less likely to stab his sister.

Maybe.

Sage got through the window as well now, being a tighter fit then Joyce's smaller frame.

“Okay...now we need to find this Samuel guy, right?” he asked.

-Hawkins' House-

“Oh, it won't hurt you either...” Blake said, frowning slightly, “It knows who's my family...but others...kids at my school...it'll go after them...”

Creeeeeepy.

Nanami nodded, leaning back in her chair, still keeping a wary eye on Musashi – and that girl.

“You guessed right. I'm from a an ancient order of ninja. We do not drink, or smoke, or corrupt our bodies in any way that would hinder our ability to protect our chosen charge. Instead of going out drinking, I practice my skills.”

It was true. Nanami had practiced with just about every weapon she could find, which included swords, knives, daggers, guns from every country and explosives. Even without the martial arts (which she had studied several varieties) the woman was essentially a killing machine.

“What do you do for fun?” She asked Aaron, attempting to make conversation.

[…]

Someone else walked into the bar. A tall man in a military uniform, wearing a bandanna and an eyepatch. He had several medals and decorations on his jacket. He took a seat at the bar and began smoking a cigar.

The Ritz

Suddenly, next to Violet, Diana sprung into action.

"Hey, listen!" she said, storming up to Didymus and looking as confrontational as she could (which really wasn't saying much for her, short of them going on a bird or people-killing spree she really wasn't the type to get angry at people).

She grabbed the young girl by the arm.

"Thank you for saving her, but let US deal with her. You have no right to make her answer ANY questions!"

"I didn't want to MAKE her, but I'm afraid that I must insis-wait, aren't you-"

"You have no right! Come on, Rosita!" Diana quickly said, and stormed off with her.

"Hey! Wait!" Didymus called, but she was gone.

"Bah...no matter. I'll quiz them sooner or later..."

He looked to Violet.

"I have a meeting I believe I must get to, I was briefed on the presence of a certain individual who could be useful..."

He flagged a cab.

"Come along, if you wish...you will have to give us some privacy when we talk, I'm afraid, but you can come...in fact, now that I think about it, how are your clerical skills, if I may ask? Surely a librarian can keep things organized, and keep good records?"

Manhattan Cocktail Lounge

Didymus stepped into the bar, and looked around. This was not the type of place that he usually frequented.

"Stay close, Violet, if you please. I...don't know these kind of places like many in my position would, but...the man I need to see is here. Give us some privacy if I ask, please, but for now, please stay close..."

He began making his way towards Snake...

Archer Law Firm

A pair of people were now visiting the firm-Diana and the girl who had shot up the Ritz, Rosita.

Diana knocked on the door...

[Manhattan Cocktail Lounge]

Snake had just finished his cigar and put it out in the ashtray when he heard footsteps behind him. Even in the crowded bar, with loud music and chatter, Snake heard the unmistakable sound of someone coming his way.

He paused for a moment, and then took a drink of something before turning around.

“Can I help you?” He asked, looking Didymus straight in the eye. (Given Snake only had the one eye, he could only look someone in one eye).

[Archer Law Firm]

The door opened and Cherion Archer did not look even slightly surprised as she saw Diana and Rosita.

“Let me guess... some G-man came to see you?” Cherion guessed. She had a feeling that a LOT of her former comrades were being visited by the Government soon.

“Come on in.” Cherion stepped away from the door so they could enter.

"Big Boss?" Didymus asked, whispered, even. "A word, if I may." he said.

Archer Law Firm

Diana was a tad surprised as Cherion guessed exactly why she was here.

"...yes...well, Rosita got a little too carried away in a public place...this "G-man" stopped the police from taking her away, but...he wanted to ask her some questions...how did you know?" she asked.

"Thank you." she said, stepping inside.

[Manhattan Cocktail Lounge]

Snake tensed up at his 'new' code name. Big Boss... a new title that President Roosevelt had personally bestowed on him an Oval Office meeting. He had yet to become accustomed to the title.

“... Yeah. Take a seat.”

Snake sat back down.

[Archer Law Firm]

Cherion nodded as they stepped inside, and led them to her office. She sat at her desk, and indicated the two empty seats for them.

“I knew because someone came to see me. Some kid working for Washington. He had a lot of questions. I answered some of them.”

He sighed and leaned back. “It seems like the same people who once turned to us to defend this country and now questioning our loyalties to it.”

“... Yeah. Take a seat.”

"Thank you." Didymus said, and sat down.

"Violet, some privacy, if you please-but stay in sight..." he said, having made sure to not utter Snake's code name out loud to her...(because I'm guessing he wouldn't spill defense secrets even though I forgot to put that in earlier XDX).

"...I shall cut to the chase, sir." Didymus said to Snake. "I believe that a busniess you have been recently requested to get involved in is my own. I work with military intelligence in Washington, and I've been assigned with investigating...well, I don't know if you've heard of the "Sakura Teams". They were a sort of paranormal-counter military unit...of course, we in the west scrapped 'em when the tension with Japan started and we found...other, better means of dealing with the paranormal..."

Didymus spoke that last part fondly.

"...anyway. Basically, the veterans of those teams, the Japanese ones, at least, are standing to be rising starts, ARE rising stars, in the Japanese military now. As I speak, many are being employed in Japan's invasion of China. Basically, these are national heroes and heroines that the Japanese will use like a scalpel in their conflicts...particularly against us, should it come to that. In short, my job is to gather intel on them, most specifically their captains, so as to be better prepared to face them should it come to that...however...I am but one man."

He paused.

"I was authorized and told that I had some liberty to recruit promising individuals who could help and be trusted. And that the War Department itself would be providing some personnel."

He paused.

"This isn't going to be all finding adolescent or early-20's women and trying to understand FEELINGS, sir. Some of the individuals I have been assigned to track down were last seen in combat zones. Others are in close enough proximity to...untrusted nations...that they may be in danger. In all likelihood...a man with your skills would be most useful, at least, in getting to these young women, even if not in interrogating them-I am sure you're able to get information out of people, but I would like to avoid THOSE methods if at all possible..."

Archer Law Firm

“It seems like the same people who once turned to us to defend this country and now questioning our loyalties to it.”

Diana paused.

"Yes...all because we were...friends...with someone from Japan, right? It's...why do people act this way?"

She sighed.

"...it was bad enough when they intervened in our affairs in the Star Division...my uncle's been trying to find replacements for you all for a while, now, you know that? I still perform, but...it's hard without the rest of you...haven't they taken enough? Now they think we...is that really what he asked?"

Rosita jumped up.

"Wait...what's going on?"

Diana sighed.

"I don't know, Rosita...but if what Cherion says is true...the government may think that we're a threat..."

Rosita looked as though she was puzzling for a moment.

"Waaaaaaaaait...so first they say we can't beat bad guys anymore, now they think that WE are bad guys?"

Diana nodded slowly.

"I...hope not..."

"That's NOT FAIR!" Rosita cried. "Why did they want me to talk about all that secret stuff we did? Is that why they wanted to know our secrets?"
