Musashi's Safehouse Marco was perfectly fine with leaving Nanami at that moment, to think things over... but her answer to him once again did not sit well with himself. Especially since it was a losing mentality, that also just didn't make sense. And it stopped him right in his tracks. "That's too easy..." he said quietly, before turning around, "THAT'S TOO ****ING EASY!!" Marco then marched his way back to the room where Nanami was, but now he was glaring at her in the same sort of way she had been glaring at him. "So you are trying to tell me, you just want to take the easy way? 'Let's not try too hard to possibly be friends with anyone, because MAYBE one day it'll come down to having to possibly leave behind that friend to their demise to do what I must do, as my duty and for my country.' Or maybe also, 'It just isn't worth striving to make a good life I want to live in, for myself, because it'd just be TOO DIFFICULT if things happen that would make me have to leave that behind.' Is that it!?" Marco was trying to hold his glare, but was beginning to fail miserably at it, starting to break down, as his eyes began to water. "So that's what you're trying to tell me here? That you aren't strong enough to handle trying to make a good life for yourself... That you're just a weak little girl who just cannot handle trying to 'live', and just blindly try to exist and simply only fulfill one small little role, all alone and by yourself..." Tears were coming out of the corners of his eyes, now. "Is that really... what you are saying? That's... just a horrible sort of existance... And I don't... I don't see you like that..." |

[Musashi’s Safehouse] Now Nanami’s eyes widened in surprise once again. She was not used to anybody talking to her like this. It seemed she had touched a nerve with Marco, and suddenly he was shouting at her, and marching back to face her. “You have no idea what you’re talking about! It’s not for my benefit – it’s for theirs! Between how reckless the Prince acts nearly all the time and how dangerous the situation has become, the odds are I’m not going to live through this! You saw how close I came to dying in that fight before! I’d rather no one give a damn about me, so that they can focus on keeping themselves alive rather than risk themselves or the Prince on my account!” Nanami had gone through years of training and conditioning to become the way she was. The head of her Clan had always drilled the idea into her mind. “My Clan is a tool to serve the Emperor, no more and no less!” Nanami was visibly shaking now. As the tears started to come from Marco’s eyes, she started to clench her fists until her knuckles started to turn white. “I am alone. I always have been. I’ve spent my entire life training for one purpose. You can’t understand that. You’re from here, this country where people have choices and opportunities… you weren’t told from the time you were a child that your only role in life was to protect someone else.” Nanami was shaking harder now, and she had actually broke the skin on her hands in some small places and was bleeding slightly. “… I… I-I don’t like it either…” Nanami’s voice suddenly became much quieter, and she dropped her gaze away from him and towards the floor, letting her dark bangs fall in front of her eyes. “I’ve never liked it… but I’ve never had a choice…” |

-NYC Streets- Galv left The Rica Cave with the rest of his family and Sage, still glowering. “We don't need their help,” Galv said to Melanie. “We'll be fine.” “Well if you don't want their help, they're not the only game in town, you know.” Galv froze, turning towards the voice, then relaxed when he saw it was an elderly looking Asian man. “Oh...Old Man Sensei...” Galv said, “Hey there...were you following us?” “Of course,” the old man said, grinning, “The community center canceled it's Bingo Night, so I needed to do something.” He stepped forward a bit, moving easily and quickly despite his age, rubbing his chin. “Well from what I can gather, you haven't had much luck with things. My offer to help train Blake is still open, of course, and that'll just involve lessons after school and such. I can have Melanie's younger brother Aaron help as well. And...” Old Man Sensei paused, eyes lingering on Sage now, “Ohhh, yes, the son of Ryan. No powers, but I sense...potential.” The old Asian man pulled out a card, and handed it to Sage, “If you want to learn martial arts, stop by my dojo. I'll give you a discount on lessons.” Sage took the card, pausing and nodding a little, not sure what to make of this strange man. Galv seemed comfortable around him, at least. -Outside Musashi's Safe House- Aaron looked up, seeing his sister Adrianna, who then got up and walked off. “She just needs some time,” Aaron frowned, “But she's a good person, she'll do the right thing. Besides, I don't know if she'll want to help with all of this if we get the chance to still. I guess that's mostly up to you government guys though.” He sighed a little, stretching his arms to get a few kinks out of them, “I'd like to think I'm helpful. I doubt you'll find anyone physically stronger. Never lost an arm wrestling contest in my life. Well...once...Because my Sensei kicked me right before we started... And I know how to fight, at least hand to hand stuff. I've never shot a gun so I doubt I'd be a good shot with one though.” -Gallic Enterprises- “Always wanting more, huh?” Lily smirked, “I guess that's why I like you, your ambition.” She sidled up to him, “So what kind of reward did you have in mind?” |

I'll bite your legs off!

Outside Musashi's safehouse Didymus heard shouting inside. "Heh, a lovers' quarrel...?" he chuckled grimly, raising an eyebrow at Aaron, trying to see if he couldn't share a laugh with the only other single guy of the evening. Then he sighed. "Still...I guess I'd be lying if I said I don't feel for your sister..." he said, looking after Adrianna. "That kind of affair really sucks. Though, I imagine it may be better than being cold turkey, so to speak...at any rate, as for your skills...I don't know. I don't want to have TOO large a team, and to be perfectly frank...if you can't handle a firearm, you're not likely to last too long in a modern fight." He paused. "...the world's changing. Chivalric gestures...well, the ideal of honorable, chivalric warfare may well have had its death blow in the trenches of the Great War..." he chuckled. "...and close range combat is rapidly being left behind...still, it IS admittedly useful from time to time..." He shook his head. "So I'm afraid I don't know what to tell you." |

Musashi's Safehouse With everything Nanami was saying, there were just so many things going through Marco's own head, as to what he'd want to say about each and every detail. But right now... It wasn't worth it going through every detail, and probably neither of them would . ...but everything she was saying, was just sad. Sad that a person could feel like that. Sad that a person would train their kids to feel like that. Sad that he couldn't just say one magic word that'd fix everything, and then let him kick that said person's a**... There was a bit of awkward silence, before Marco finally acted. And what he finally did, was make his way to Nanami, and grabbed her in a tight hug. "...you are not a tool... ...you are not alone..." he then started to speak, quietly, into Nanami's ear as he hugged her. "...and tough. You're not going to have anyone 'not giving a damn' about you. I don't understand your whole past, but... you're now here in America, with all of us..." Marco then fell quiet again, but squeezed Nanami harder, just before he began speaking again. "Nanami... You have a choice right now..." he then said into her ear, "I'm not letting go. Your choice... You can agree with me, truthfully... From the heart... That you will try, at least... To work on living for yourself, as much as for your goal of keeping the Prince alive, and for his mission. If you make that choice now, and mean it, I will let you go. Your other choice... Your other choice is to kill me right now, if you do not want to try and make that choice for your freedom... ...Those are your choices now." Technically, she could also try to just wriggle out of his hold without killing him... but he'd just use his ability to numb her arms and legs, essentially incapacitating her if she tried that... |

I can't see what you're imagining
|
-Outside Musashi's Safe House- Aaron smirked, shrugging, “Hey, even in the midst of stuff like this, people are still people. Can't really control who you fall for, or even all the situations you get yourself in.” He then grinned a little, “And hey, I could always learn how to use a gun. My dad had a thing against guns, but when he was my age they were still pretty inaccurate. And don't dismiss my strength. I really can't demonstrate it in a place like this, but I'm strong enough to bend steel.” Aaron didn't talk about his other ability though, the one he got from his mother. He used it from time to time when he needed it, but generally kept it under wraps. He could keep his super strength hidden some out in the world without too much effort, but it was hard to dismiss beams of light firing from his hands. “Besides, if this is a more specialized team, I doubt we'll be seeing war like the Great War,” Aaron added, “But I can fight well...No way could I lead a team. I can barely keep my sisters from hating each other, much less lead or organize a group like this. I want to teach little kids, not lead people into battle...but I'll follow someone, for the right cause...” |

[Musashi’s Safehouse] Nanami was utterly confused at the moment. She had been talking about things that she normally kept bundled up inside, frozen beneath a few sheets of proverbial ice. She had been kissed, which was something that had only happened a handful of times in her life. She had been cursed at, which happened practically every day, though usually it was in the heat of battle as she stabbed someone in the lungs. And now, Marco was hugging her and mumbling in her ear. Her first instinct was to smash him in the diaphragm and throw him to the ground, but she ignored it. It was hardly the first time she had ignored her first instinct over the course of this conversation. (Which is good for Marco, BTW) When Marco delivered his ultimatum, Nanami’s first reaction was anger. He did not – could not – understand everything that she had been through. He knew little of her clan, and had never met the overwhelmingly intimidating presence of its leader. He did not understand the life she had lived for so long… … but Nanami did realize that he was trying to help. It was, in her opinion, an extremely odd and annoying way to try to help. Nanami stared down into his eyes, and there was intensity in her glare. “… I can’t promise you that I can start living for myself. Not right now, not with everything that’s happening. I have to keep the Prince’s safety as my top priority… but I don’t want to kill you, Marco.” She gave a small sigh. She realized that she did have a decision to make, although a different one than what he was asking. She needed to either make things painful enough that Marco would think twice about ever trying a stunt like this again, or she would have to do something really crazy. “… but… I will attempt to make some decisions for myself, and perhaps when this war is either avoided, or over, I will try to fully live on my own terms.” With those words, she decided to go with crazy instead of pain, which was pretty unusual for her. So Nanami leaned forward and kissed Marco. That’s also pretty unusual for her. After a moment or two, Nanami broke the kiss, cleared her throat and said: “Now let go of me or I’ll break both of your arms.” That’s… not unusual at all. |

Outside Musashi's safehouse “Hey, even in the midst of stuff like this, people are still people. Can't really control who you fall for, or even all the situations you get yourself in.” Didymus laughed, but it was a painful laugh. "Indeed..." “And hey, I could always learn how to use a gun. My dad had a thing against guns, but when he was my age they were still pretty inaccurate. And don't dismiss my strength. I really can't demonstrate it in a place like this, but I'm strong enough to bend steel.” Great, more powers... "...that...admittedly sounds useful. Still..." “But I can fight well...No way could I lead a team. I can barely keep my sisters from hating each other, much less lead or organize a group like this. I want to teach little kids, not lead people into battle...but I'll follow someone, for the right cause...” Didymus chuckled grimly. "And you think I can lead here?" he asked. "Listen, I see the way the wind is blowing here. Washington may want me technically in charge, but even then, it's pretty clear that I'm not the lynchpin of this team. Heck, I didn't expect things or intend things to go as they went anyway...the simple fact is, I'm not the one that will be looked to for leadership. And this isn't the type of unit I lead, that I'm used to. I'm SUPPOSED to be involved with professional, disciplined soldiers who value the chain of command and professional codes of honorable conduct. This...is looking a lot more like a ragtag group of friends with more HEART than discipline." He grinned, but sighed as well, grinning with his mouth, frowning with his eyes. "...I don't even know if you're talking to the right guy if you want in on all this. Sure, it may be my recommendation, and technically, I am in charge-at least for the moment, but frankly, you may want to talk to the prince in there." he said. "Whatever happens, I can at least try to look after your sisters..." |

NYC Streets "Galv, try not to be too hard on them....It's complicated with my mother....I'm sure she means well" Okay, that was a lie, but Melanie was trying to salvage some sort of relationship with her mother... Suddenly Old Man Sensei appeared. Melanie gave a little smile...She liked the man, but wasn't sure if she wanted her son training so young...It hardly gave him a chance to be a child. "What do you think Sage?" Joyce said excitedly, "You could learn martial arts! Heck we could learn together!" [...] Adrianna blinked at the strange boy...Great, more foreigners. Hopefully this one wasn't a prince... "I'm fine...What the hell are you looking for around here anyways? You shouldn't just wander the streets, there's terrorists." Crystal's Apartment "I was just coming by to let you know I found a lead....Another target" Jeremie said , eying Sama "Why are you in handcuffs?" "Because he tried to kill me" Crystal answered, not missing a beat. The boy blinked and stuttered a bit. "What what!? CRYSTAL! This is why you aren't supposed to rendevous with sketchy individuals! I knew he was bad news!" Coming from the guy creeping around her apartment. |

[NYC Streets] The young man blinked at Adrianna. This girl, while very cute, seemed extremely unhappy. He frowned and stepped forward towards her with a little bow. Then she mentioned terrorists and he blinked. “Yes, it’s a bit dangerous out here. I’m fairly certain I can handle myself, though. But if it’s so dangerous, I must ask what you’re doing out here.” [Crystal’s Apartment] Sama sighed. This was not going to help his case, and he was fairly sure that Jeremie wasn’t going to believe him about the haunted knife. “I’m not sketch and I’m not bad news!” Sama shook his head. “It was a misunderstanding, and besides, I also saved her life a couple of times.” |

NYC Streets "Don't worry...I can handle myself too...." Adrianna said, pressing a strand of her hair behind her ear. "And why do you keep doing that?....Bowing?....Oh god you aren't a prince are you? I can't stand effing princes..." Crystal’s Apartment "Crystal get away from him, he could kill you!" Jeremie exclaimed, grabbing Crystal's arm. "Don't worry, he's cuffed. He can't go all psycho on me again" "HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?" Jeremie exclaimed. Crystal groaned, falling against the couch "You said you had a lead? Another bombing target?" The Rica Cave “That’s precisely why you’re going to give up this whole terrorism thing. We’ll kill Red Skull, get you free of these Nazis, and then you and I can retire to the Bahamas and spend every day getting drunk and skinny dipping.” Kanna rolled her icy blue eyes, leaning back and rubbing her temples. "You make it sound so easy...And you can't just leave the Nazis. It doesn't work that way last time I checked." she then blinked, looking back to Rica "And what makes you think we could actually kill him?" |

-Outside Musashi's House- “I met you five minutes ago, I have no idea if you can lead,” Aaron smirked, shrugging his shoulders, “I'm just saying I don't want the job.” He was quiet for a few minutes, frowning at something. “No team should have a single lynch pin,” Aaron said, after a moment, “That just makes a weakness in the team.” He paused, then grinned, turning back to Didymus, “But whatever happens, I'll look after my sisters. I always have, even if they don't think so...” -NYC Streets- Old Man Sensei turned to Melanie, smiling, “Don't worry Mrs. Hawkins, it'll be like an after school activity for young Blake. He can be part of the kids program as well, to learn the basics, be able to interact with others his age. It shouldn't get in the way anymore then any other after school activity would.” Sage paused, looking to Joyce, then nodded. “That could be good,” he smiled. He didn't add that he wanted to learn because he wanted to be able to protect Joyce... |

[The Rica Cave] “I’m very good at killing people.” Rica reminded her with his usual grin. “You just get me in the same room as Skull head and I’ll take care of the rest.” He motioned towards a large chest in the corner of the room. “It’s full of explosives. And I’ve got quite a few guns in here too. I can guarantee Red Skull won’t be a problem.” [Crystal’s Apartment] “I’m not even technically the one who tried to kill her.” Sama pointed out. “Look, you’re some kind of government agency, right? Call Scotland Yard! Inspector Lestrade. He’ll vouch that the knife is possessed.” [NYC Streets] The young man raised an eyebrow as she asked about princes. He shook his head. “A Prince? Of course not. Really now, not everyone from England is royalty.” He chuckled, and then he paused, rubbing his neck. “Though… I was Knighted, so… there’s that.” He gave her a smile and extended his hand. “Sir Oliver Oakridge. Nice to meet you.” |

Outside Musashi's safehouse "...so, does that mean you'll be tailing us even IF my bosses don't want you on the team? I mean, I think I know what they'd say already, and what the end result would be, but...if they refused, does that mean we'd find you if we looked over our shoulders?" He chuckled. "And the fact is, teams NEED...lynchpins, so to speak. Not everyone can do everything. And those that can do everything are usually not as good at all those things as more specialized people are at one, or a handful of things. And as for this team...heh, it does have a lynchpin, like it or not. A lot of it, at least. Should that lynchpin fail, then a smaller portion of it can still go on, but...at hindered efficiency, and we'd still have a couple loose ends privy to secrets they have no of the necessary clearance to know but that our newest ally saw fit to bring them along." He shook his head. "And as for my abilities to lead...I didn't say I COULDN'T lead. I just said that I couldn't lead HERE. At least, not a good chunk of it. As I said before, the types of people I am used to leading are...not this type. And, conversely, though they may reject most forms of authority anyway, they certainly have little interest in being led by me of all people." He chuckled again. "I still intend to keep 'em all alive, though, for my part." |
