"You already had a reason to kill me?" Marco questioned, narrowing his face up a bit in an exaggerated frown, "Awwwwwww..."

"Though seriously, rest up a bit!" he then added with a smile. "Unless with that stuff it's a bad idea to rest or sleep, 'cause if you need someone to keep you awake I could certainly keep you up while talking your ear off!"

[Makeshift Safehouse]

Musashi decided not to comment on Nanami and Marco, out of fear that somehow Nanami would overhear and hurt him even worse than she was likely already planning too.

Instead, he wanted to focus on the girls… and Aaron, he supposed. Then he remembered something, and actually looked to the brother instead of the sisters.

“Hey, Aaron, you brought those papers we found at the warehouse, right? I’d like to take a look at them.”

“It’s nothing personal,” Nanami mumbled in response, shaking her head slightly. “Though… at this point, I don’t suppose you’re really a threat to the Prince.”

Nanami sighed, thinking for a moment. Sleep actually sounded very good right now, but it might be better if she actually stayed awake.

“… I guess we could talk…” Nanami muttered, leaning back. Though being Nanami, she had no idea what she was going to talk to him about.

[Crystal’s Apartment]

Sama shook his head. He DID sometimes use disguises, but he found that they were usually too difficult to pull off well.

“Well, not to sneak in. They’ll want to see some kind of ID if I go through the door. What I was thinking is that I could disguise myself and wait by the fire escape, and once you’re inside the office you can unlock the window, and I can get in that way.”

He paused. “I know this is dangerous, and I don’t want to get you in trouble… but I promise that if I can make this call, we should both be fine.”

[Warehouse at the Docks]

Rica gave a grin, in his usual wily way.

“All sorts of fun things. A major part of my job is finding people. I’m very good at it, and I have a few gadgets that can help.”

[Convent]

“There’s not much I can do.” Snake shook his head. These weren’t really the sorts of issues he was good with. “Sister, is there a phone I can use? I need to make a call.”

The incident on Liberty island was… disturbing. Snake felt it was time he got serious about these things.

Crystal’s Apartment

"Hmmm...Well that does sound like a smarter idea" Crystal said with a smile, giving a nod and grabbing a couple of things off of her counter, including a badge with her picture on it.

"Okay then, let's get going"

Warehouse at the Docks

Melanie wasn't sure she wanted to know why Rica's job involved finding people...Or what his job was in general. The man always had an air of mystery about him, something that worried Melanie...She didn't like it when she couldn't read people's intentions.

"A-Alright then...Lead the way"

[Crystal’s Apartment]

Sama nodded and they hurried out to the street. From there, he quickly hailed a cab, and they were off too…

[City Hall]

City Hall was a massive building where many of the most important officials in the city gathered. Normally, security was not that strict at the building and citizens were welcomed to go inside, but with the string of recent attacks, the building was closed to the public.

Sama told the taxi driver to drop them off a couple of blocks away from the building, and then he turned to Crystal.

“Okay… I’m going head around back to the alley and wait for a chance to climb the fire escape. You just get in and see the Mayor. If all this works, I promise any trouble we get in will be fixed…”

He paused. “… if my favor is still good… heh…”

[Warehouse at the Docks]

Rica smirked, and nodded.

He adjusted his jacket and then motioned for them to follow him.

“We’ll go back to my… residence. But neither of you can ever tell anyone where it is, got it?” Rica asked, and for once he seemed serious.

One of the nuns nodded.

"We do have phones, but they may not be secure..." she said.

Azmaria simply said "Suit yourself." and took Didymus inside the sanctuary...

...soon, a beautiful soprano voice could be heard singing inside...

Makeshift Safehouse - Nanami's Room

It had to stink being Nanami, having to literally question and not trust a single person in existence, for being a possible threat to Prince Musashi (including Musashi himself, since... Musashi is a very big threat towards his own personal safety).

Marco was fairly surprised, however, by Nanami not just kicking him out and going to sleep herself, but if he had the opportunity, he DID have a few things he wanted to ask her about.

"Hmm... You've said you have some extra 'abilities' that your normal person doesn't have, earlier... Just what can you do?"

Marco figured that if he was going to get this opportunity to speak with her, he was going to press his luck.

[Makeshift Safehouse: Nanami’s Room]

Nanami paused as Marco asked her about her abilities, and for a few moments she was utterly silent, no longer looking at him. Instead she was winding some of the hair from her bangs around her finger, and watching that; but it was clear that she was in thought.

“… My first instinct is to tell you that I can’t discuss that, which is true enough, but… I’m more than a little curious as to those martial arts you’ve used, so I can tell you some of what I mean.”

She finally looked back up to him, and her face had become grim. “My clan has protected the Imperial family since the end of the Feudal Era, when Japan was first unified under one Emperor. We have long since studied many forms of martial arts, and tried to harness various abilities. As you’ve seen, I can control water in it’s many forms… and blood plasma is 92% water. So, to an extent, I controlled the water in my blood’s plasma to keep the blood from leaking out. It’s hardly a perfect solution, and it obviously wore me out, but…”

She trailed off. She never liked discussing the secrets of her abilities, but she supposed that Marco might have been able to figure that much out on his own.

Nanami was quiet again for another long pause, and then at length she decided to let him in on one more secret. “But I am also trained in a form of martial arts called ‘Nanto Suichō Ken’. It’s a very powerful form of martial arts, but one that I’m only supposed to use as a last resort.”

[Convent]

Snake frowned, but soon made his way down a passageway to a small office where there was a phone. He placed a call to the Pentagon, and then had to stand around waiting for several minutes before they were able to connect him to the man he wanted to talk to.

“Major…” Snake grunted into the phone.

“Hello, Jack. It’s been a long time.” A stern, British voice came over the line. Major Zero, sometimes known as Major Tom, had once been Snake’s handler during the Great War. While he was technically a MI5 operative, he often worked with the American military, and the Pentagon always knew how to reach him.

“We’re dealing with some strange things in New York, Major.” Snake replied at once. “I’m not sure if I’d call them supernatural or unnatural, but whatever is going on… the only thing I can compare it to is the Sons.”

Zero’s voice was strained. “Ah… I see. And you want to talk to the Sorrow. He’s the expert on all things of that nature. Well, bad news Snake, we have no idea where he is. Right now, you are the only Son of the Boss we can locate.”

Snake felt a odd sense of foreboding. “… The Boss can read the politics. She knows a war is brewing. It’s possible she’s assembled them to prepare.”

“No, it’s certain she’s assembled them to prepare. What we don’t know is whether she intends to me fighting for the US or GB, or… our enemies.”

Snake fell silent. “… I’ll get in touch with you again soon, Major. Tell the Pentagon I’m authorizing you to be briefed on the situation in New York in full. I want you on my team.”

-Warehouse at the Docks-

“Okay...” Galv said to Rica, then paused, looking around. Old Man Sensei seemed to have disappeared.

Galv frowned at that, but didn't say anything towards Rica.

“Lead the way.”

-Makeshift Safehouse-

“Oh yah, here,” Aaron said to Musashi, pulling out the papers, “I, uh, wasn't able to set it on fire though. Ran into another sister.”

But if you flirt with that sister, Galv will kill you, Musashi.

“Haven't had a chance to look at it myself,” Aaron added.

-Candy Shop-

“Then let's head that way,” Sage said, very carefully picking up Joyce, trying not to get himself shocked.

He headed outside, still carrying the short dark haired girl, heading towards the uptown...

-Kanna's Suite-

“...It's not very hard to change, for me...” Blake said, after a moment, looking at the food that was brought in, his stomach grumbling. Once the person who had brought them the food left, he focused, concentrating on his shadows.

“I can feel them...they're...they're cold on the outside...but hot on the inside. There's...something in them. Makes them stronger,” Blake continued. Shadows wrapped around him, and he changed, looking older like he did for Samara earlier, appearing a lot like his dad, except for blue eyes. This would probably annoy Kanna.

But he focused again, changing back to his normal appearance, sitting on the bed. He focused again, changing, and now looked towards Kanna, taking on Samara's appearance for a few moments, before changing back to normal.

“It feels...nice...kind of, to wrap myself like that in the shadows...” Blake added, then selected a piece of toast, munching on that now.

-Convent-

“I'm not sure I'll be much help with whatever it is,” Jenny said to the nuns, “I deal more in wounds of a physical nature, not a spiritual one...”

[Rica’s Safehouse]

Rica quickly led Melanie and Galv to the street, flagged down a cab, and had it take them most of the way. When they arrived on the street, he then led them to the same alley where he had taken Kanna earlier, and then down into his secret safehouse.

“This place is a major spy secret. Don’t tell anyone.” Rica warned them as they entered the safehouse. He headed over to his cabinet and pulled out a small, square device.

“I made this years ago, in case I ever needed to stalk—err, find, Kanna.”

He blew some dust off the device and pressed the button.

“It SHOULD let us detect anywhere in the city where those unique shadows are active… so we should be able to track Blake with this.”

[Makeshift Safehouse]

“Geez, how many sisters do you have?” Musashi asked. He didn’t know Melanie was older, and married.

He took the papers and put them down on the table, spreading them out. His eyes scanned over the papers, looking at what they were.

“… Blueprints?” Musashi blinked. “The Statue of Liberty? And this… I think that’s the Governor’s mansion! Geez… these are Blueprints of some of New York’s most important buildings and tourist attractions…”

Musashi swallowed hard. “… If this belongs to these Nazis… they could do serious damage to this city…”

Eventually, Didymus and Azmaria emerged from the sanctuary. Didymus appeared alright, though it was clear something was on his mind.

"Thank you, sister..." he said.

Azmaria smiled compassionately at him, as if attempting to convey sympathy.

"Of course...but...could you please try to be careful? We're glad to help, but..." she said.

"I apologize if I inconvenienced you..." he added.

"No, I...it's not like that...but, please understand, I don't want to get the convent mixed up in...espionage..." she said.

Didymus nodded.

"I understand. Well...thanks again, sister. For this time and the last. And thanks to God, of course."

Azmaria nodded.

"Of course, again. Be blessed, lieutenant." she said.

"I believe another of your team is using a phone." another sister said.

"Thank you." Didymus nodded at that.

"Well..." he looked at the rest of the group.

"...at least we stopped that little ploy..." he said.

Rica's Safehouse

Melanie tried to ignore the fact that Rica basically had a Kanna-tracker in his secret underground bunker thingie where he did god-knows-what...It all sounded a bit too creepertastic when she thought about it.

Instead she focused on the fact that this was the best chance they had to find her baby.

"Alright then....How do we use it?" she asked, looking down at the seemingly plain device...

Makeshift Safehouse

"Way too many" Adrianna couldn't help but to mutter, glaring at Laila who in turn scooted close to Musashi as she looked over the blue prints. The tanned girl grimaced but tried to focus on Nazi plans rather than pushing her sister out of a window.

"What do you think they would go after first?" Laila asked, eying some of the blueprints. There even seemed to be some for the local police station...That was never a good sign.

"Probably work their way up...They may use the bigger building for leverage in order to get the government to cave into demands" Adrianna explained, tracing her fingers across the paper. "They could start with authority figure's homes...Make it seem random and cause panic that way..."

Candy Shop

When they got into the heart of the city Blake's powers became blurred with so many other forms of energy around...It probably also didn't help that Joyce was also drawn greatly to electric things which seemed to catch her attention just as easily....

For the last twenty minutes Joyce kept leading Sage to generators and power boxes...She couldn't help it, she was chock full of energy that she wouldn't let out.

Kanna's Suite

Kanna was quiet as she stared at her grandson, who was now taking on the appearance of a young man (who looked a lot like Galv much to her annoyance) before turning into Samara once more...And then himself.

"That's quite an impressive power" Kanna said softly, watching the boy eat some toast. "Does it ever hurt you? Make your eyes burn or make your head ache?"

Kanna had a lot of experience with the power that her grandson possessed...And she had to deal with it every time Melanie was sick or in pain as a child.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door and Kanna jumped a bit. She looked down at the boy who was still working on the toast. "L-Let me get that" she said, stiffly getting up and standing at the door for a moment as if debating something in her head. Finally she opened it and looked at a man in a rather nice suit.

He spoke German to her, which she responded to with no problem....She seemed to be having a conversation in which she was given a large stack of papers, a gun, and a bouquet of roses. Before the man left he eyed Blake and asked something else in German.

Kanna seemed a bit upset by whatever the man asked, pushing him out of the room with a few harsh words.

City Hall

Crystal frowned but gave a nod. She wasn't sure about this but knew she couldn't turn away now.

"Alright, be careful" she said, moving forward and kissing him really quick. She then headed up the stairs to the Mayor's office....

She had been inside this building a few times, but it was all still rather intimidating to her. Flashing her badge got her through the first few checkpoints but after all of the explosions and murders around the city the Mayor was apparently not taking guests.....

She supposed he was in there trying to deal with the PR nightmare of it all.

-Rica's Safehouse-

Galv frowned at the device. Galv was remembering that while he tended to be indifferent to Rica and Ethan, Rica always seemed a bit more shady.

“...But how are we going to know which is Blake?” Galv asked, after a moment, “There's also Melanie, and Joyce...and Adrianna as well...and, well, Kanna...That leaves five different sources to look for. Maybe we should get more help...Though Joyce should be at home...”

Galv didn't know Sage had shown up, and the two were gallivanting around also looking for Blake.

-Makeshift Safe House-

“Errr...I have four sisters. Three of them are half sisters...” Aaron answered, “And a half brother. And a brother-in-law. And a sister-in-law. And two nieces and a nephew...”

Aaron had a big family.

He then paid more attention to the papers, looking at the blue prints.

“They might go for one of the big ones first, just to show they're serious...” Aaron said, frowning, “Or maybe they want to go all for once. Cripple an enemy quickly. That's how you're suppose to fight anyways, or how I was taught. The point is to make sure your opponent doesn't hurt you.”

-Convent-

“What was that little ploy though?” Jenny wondered, frowning, “Trying to call forth some demon or something?”

While Jenny generally didn't believe in things like demons, she had to admit that there had been something with those shadows, and that creature Snake blew up earlier. Demon was a good enough name to call them, to her.

-Streets-

Sage didn't mind as Joyce brought him back and forth, though the random shockings he was receiving now and then was making his hair stand up, but he'd put up with it from the girl. He had been in love with the girl for years now, and best friends even longer.

“Maybe you should focus on something more like Blake?” Sage suggested, after the tenth power box they came to, “He has shadow stuff too...so...maybe something that's hot and cold? Kinda like yourself...”

-Kanna's Suite-

Blake watched calmly as the strange man appeared and left, giving his grandmother things. He couldn't understand German, so he just sat and watch, eating his toast calmly.

Once the man was gone, Blake turned back towards Kanna.

“I haven't used my powers to change myself since today...” Blake answered, “And not for very long...Otherwise I just feel...an ache. Like there's something pounding inside me that wants out, but I can't let it out...just when I'm using my powers...”

He frowned, “Dad said his powers made momma's stronger...maybe that's it...”

Another sigh from the red haired boy, and he looked up at Kanna, “Should I use my powers to make myself look different, so it hurts less?”

[Rica’s Safehouse]

Rica shrugged and held up the device, pressing a few buttons, and then spinning the little wheel at the side. After a moment, it started to beep.

“It detects any source of those shadow powers being used in a ten mile radius. If we’re lucky, Blake has been using his powers and we’ll have a trail to follow.”

He then paused. “Oh, Melanie, no matter WHAT you cannot use YOUR powers right now. It will interfere with the readings.”

Then he looked Galv.

“It’s alright. We go back to the Warehouse district. We know Blake was there, and if there’s a trail it’s either his or Kanna’s, and judging by the size of the reading we should be able to tell.”

[Makeshift Safehouse]

Musashi frowned, looking at the blueprints and for once not thinking about how he wanted to get busy with both of the sisters next to him. His eyes scanned the thing for several minutes, and then he noticed something.

“Wait… there’s something written here…” Musashi looked down at one of the maps of the city. There was some writing in German.

“… I can only read Japanese and English.” Musashi admitted. “I don’t suppose either of you can read German?”

Nanami could, of course, but Musashi won’t go in that room yet, I’ll wait for a more embarrassing moment if he has to get her.

[City Hall]

Suddenly, a woman appeared on the stairs. She had short blonde hair and looked to be in her fifties. She wore a large white coat and approached the Mayor’s secretary, but like Crystal she was denied access.

Then she flashed some kind of identity card, and the secretary paled a bit and quickly led the woman down the hall towards the mayor’s office.

The whole thing was pretty suspicious.

[Convent]

Snake soon returned, and he saw Didymus was up again.

“Good. You’re not dead. We need to talk. I need to know exactly what we’re up against.”

“Good. You’re not dead. We need to talk. I need to know exactly what we’re up against.”

"Very well, but perhaps we should go...wouldn't want to inconvenience the sisters any more than necessary..."

As they exited, Suburu rejoined them.

"I saw no one follow us." she stated, blankly.

"Oh...um, good..." Didymus remarked.

He looked to Snake.

"I'll answer what I can, but I'm afraid I frankly don't quite know what to expect myself. But...is there anything in particular you wish to know?"

[Outside Convent]

Snake nodded. Now that they were outside, he immediately lit a cigarette. Even for someone with Snake’s manners, he knew that smoking inside a convent was considered a ‘no-no’.

After a moment, he looked back to Didymus.

“Just what the hell are we up against? I’ve dealt with the supernatural before… I don’t know how much you know about the Sons of the Boss, the unit I served with in the Great War, but… well, we experienced a lot of strange things.”

He blew a small puff of smoke, and then turned his eyes out towards the city in the distance.

“… but what we saw today? I don’t know what to think about that. If the Nazis can do… THAT… if they can transform into those monsters… then how the hell do we win? An army like that…”

Snake trailed off. He thought that he had seen the worst the world had to offer as a young man during the Great War… and he thought he had seen the extent of what unnatural abilities existed in the world… but tonight made him question both ideas.
