“Good... I'm glad you picked up. What's going on down there?”

"Nothing much, I just got in and I don't know what your team's going to be up to today...but I'll probably just be keeping 'em safe as usual...hey, what's that I hear in the background?"

He already began to have his suspicions...

“No, no, no!” Alice replied immediately, clearly sounding a mixture of annoyed and worried. “Who do they have there in my place? Have they called anyone in yet?”

Then, more noise from the background. The sound of someone pounding on a door.

“Talk fast, Lieutenant.”

Wait, so Alice was disappointed with this information?

And then...someone pounding on the door?

"I don't know if anyone's been called up in your place, Malvin...the CO joked about me, but he was just kidding...and...wait, Lieutenant, what's that noise in the background? What's going on? Are you just letting yourself rest?"

“Nevermind the background noise!” Alice immediately interjected. The banging on the door was growing louder in the background.

“Listen to me, do not let Mustang call in someone to take over for me... especially not...”

Her voice trailed off as the door was banged on again. “Didymus, you have to take over Section Three for me for the day! It's easy, talk to Wolfwood, he'll help you out... please, promise me you'll do this--”

Then the sound of a door being knocked open.

“Lady Alice, back to bed with you!”

“PROMISE ME!” Alice suddenly was disconnected.

After hearing the exchange, Didymus held the phone, and blinked.

"..."

He was glad that Alice had been disconnected. In that case, he hadn't actually promised her anything.

But she really wanted it...she seemed to want you to take over for her...there are a lot of reasons why you could want to do this...some of which...I don't think I want to admit even to myself.

He hung up the phone.

He went to seek out Mustang, presumably at his office.

"Sir? Second Lieutenant Didymus. May I speak with you on the issue of Section III's affairs for the day?"

Mustang was, actually, in the hallway speaking to a woman dressed in a black uniform. In Hydron, different branches of the police had different uniforms. Section Three wore green – aside from Alice, who like all Nobles, wore orange.

Black was the uniform for the most elite unit... those who served outside of the walls. The Hydron Ranger Corps.

He noticed Didymus, and excused himself from the woman.

“... Of course. What about Section Three's affairs?”

Though intrigued by the appearence of this other woman, Didymus came here with a topic in mind.

“... Of course. What about Section Three's affairs?”

"Sir, I just recieved a call from Lieutenant Malvin...and long story short, she wanted ME to take Section III's reigns today...she seemed...rather insistent. I don't know if it's an entirely good idea, but if it's that important I can step in tentatively to Malvin's position and actually just kind of oversee it as her second in command, I think it's Oreldo, basically runs it. It could work, at least for today, don't you think, sir?"

-Narroh Estate-

“Ahhh, what the heck?!” Maize yelled, as she was being hit with the feather duster, waking up and scrambling back in the bed. “Who the hell are you?!”

She grabbed a pillow and threw it at the woman!

Galv, after quite enjoying the kisses with his fiance, had gone out into the hallway, and then realized he had no idea where he was sleeping.

Thankfully, he found his dad, who directed them to his room. Samuel had been suspicious about Galv's red face, but didn't press the point. The boy had been in his own little world.

Now in the morning, Galv yawned, use to waking up around this time, then paused. He wondered if he and Jason would be going to the workshop today...Or if what had transpired last night (his and Melanie's sudden engagement), would change that.

He got up, finding some clean clothes, then headed out, wandering the halls, not sure where to go. Should he go check on Melanie? Was that what fiances were suppose to do?

He frowned, not sure where to go...Maybe he'd run into Jason! He needed to talk to him...

Samuel took a seat at the kitchen table, having a cup of tea himself, sipping it softly.

“What's interesting?” Samuel wondered, looking at the paper. He considered briefly telling Kanna about finding his son coming out of Melanie's room last night, but quickly decided that would be a very stupid idea.

-Apartment-

“These two can never get up on their own...” Hammah sighed, already awake and dressed, looking down at Jimi and Colette.

He walked over to Jimi then held out his hand, creating a few sparks, then bent down, poking Jimi in the head.

“Ah!” Jimi yelled, waking up with a start, then frowned, looking up at Hammah, “...I hate it when you do that...”

Hammah just smiled, then walked over to Colette, bending down to her too, but just patted her on the shoulder gently.

“Come on Colette...time to get up...” Hammah said softly.

-Military Police Station-

Commissioner Gordon frowned, looking at his mostly empty coffee cup. That coffee had been stale.

He paused, noticing Black and Didymus, and headed over to them.

“Hello,” Gordon said, nodding to the two. “Section III? Mind if I butt into the conversation? I have a few things I need to discuss about it too...”

Mustang paused, his eyes darkening for a moment. It was clear there was something on his mind... and he now had a disapproving frown.

“... I can't say I agree with Malvin on this one. You have no real experience with Section Three... but, I suppose I must defer to Malvin's expert opinion.”

He turned back to the woman in black. “I guess it's your unlucky day. Back to the desert...”

“Hmph. Not surprised. Call me in for nothing...” The woman shook her head. Her helmet still covered her face and hair.

“... Enjoy the plushy job, kid. You get to deliver bread to the poor... and I get to deliver bullets to the heads of the worst scum outside those walls.”

Then, without any warning, Commissioner Gordon – the head of the Military Police – arrived. Mustang saluted the man instantly, as did the woman in black.

[Apartment]

Sama reemerged from the bathroom, now dressed and looking slightly more awake.

“Okay... so... what were we doing?”

“IF everyone will wake up, we can get to work!” Stark frowned.

"If today is anything like yesterday, I'll be delivering bullets to the heads of teh worst scum INSIDE those walls." Didymus said. "And some people TEMPORARILY under me will be delivering bread. Still, fight well."

When Commissioner Gordon arrived, Didymus also saluted.

Didymus reflected. He was at best uncertain about the senior man for the closest thing Hydron had to an army being a "Commissioner" and not a "General". On the other hand, Gordon seemed like an honorable man, and to be honest, this really was the least of Hydron's problems, if a problem at all, he thought.

“No need to be so formal,” Gordon said, wearing his usual trench coat over his uniform, finishing his coffee, “Didymus...about Section III...Hawkins has been reassigned.”

He paused, intending to see Didymus' reaction.

“But Section III will have more money coming in soon to help out, due to Hawkins reassignment, and I'll see about getting someone to take his spot,” Gordon said, “It might be a little bit though. Now I'm going to try and find some better coffee...”

He turned now, heading off, “I'll leave you all to your jobs now. Unless one of you made this coffee, then we need to talk.”

Didymus reflected over this news.

In actuality, it relieved him greatly. With Samuel reassigned, he faced no dilemma about lying to his men or risking their lives needlessly. He still wondered if he shouldn't let them know, if some lives could be spared...but at least, he thought, he wouldn't have to worry about the lives of his own men. Besides, maybe his reassignment was because they knew?

Shoot, maybe this isn't entirely off my conscience yet anyway...

He turned to regard Mustang.

"Sir, has Section III received orders for the day? ...or has Malvin's house called saying she broke out?"

“Section Three has a standing order... to address the needs of the Slums, and work towards the cleanup of that area. As well as to reach out to the locals in the slums in an effort to bring down the crime rate and reintegrate the slums into the rest of Hydron.” Mustang explained, even though the question wasn't directed at him.

“As it is, I believe Malvin had a meeting on the books with some of the so-called 'Slum Leaders'... though Hydron doesn't recognize them as actually having any authority, the Slum Leaders are the ones who more or less control that part of town. Malvin believed that by forging a relationship with them, she could better extend outreach to the entire area.”

Then, a officer from inside poked her head out, looking to Gordon.

“Sir... there's someone here to see Lieutenant Malvin... says he had a donation for Section Three. It's Mr. Wayne...”

Didymus listened as Mustang spoke.

"Understood. I suppose it's up to us to follow through on that...and be there if she shows up anyway..."

“Sir... there's someone here to see Lieutenant Malvin... says he had a donation for Section Three. It's Mr. Wayne...”

"Sir, wouldn't that be your department? If so, we'll suit up and head out, otherwise we'll meet Mr. Wayne."

KxS slowly started to wake up. She rubbed her eye and stretched. Putting on her glasses, she looked toward Stark. So THIS was the Stark her new friends kept chatting about.

Slums: Streets

"KxS?! Where are ya, kid?!" Avenger shouted as he roamed the streets. He had just woken up and realized that his student had run off.

If anything, Avenger was deeply pissed. She knew better than to run off again, even after he told her not to!

He snorted. He didn't see her anywhere near here. He started to worry. Maybe she got kidnapped and would never be seen again. Or maybe that Nevex boy had something to do with it.

He frowned and headed toward the gunshop where Nevex worked.
