Coal Mines "..." Avril shook even more, as whatever was controlling Nanami started speaking out of Nanami's body. She had to control herself, though. She had to keep herself composed. This wasn't Nanami, but it still was Nanami. She wanted to beat this thing up senseless, but she wouldn't beat Nanami up senseless. "...why? If you don't know from Nanami already, then it's something you'll never understand!!!" she then yelled out, staring back at 'Nanami'. A few tears started to form in her eyes as she stared, however. "...even if sometimes she's too thick to think others can feel that way about her, like she does towards us..." she added, much more quietly. "...That's what a friendship is..." ================== Takuma's kick sent Solei flying backwards, into another of the walls of the cave, letting out a scream of pain. She got back up however, placing her non-frozen hand on the wall of the cave. There was one trick she hadn't used yet on this guy, but... She needed to be able to use it on 'Nanami', when she was able to get a chance at stopping this guy for a minute. And she had no idea how strong whatever was controlling Nanami was. (though she also did not know that it was just the same as Lavan earlier, which wouldn't work well for Solei) A chained spike formed in Solei's free hand, and then she pointed again at Takuma, sending the same petrification attack his way. However this time, she followed this up directly behind it, to charge and attack again, if he tried another barrier to be petrified. And if that happened, she'd try to break through it, with her spike, with the plan on using that Evil Eye of Petrification spell a third time, but this time from her eyes. Solei was going all out. |

I can't see what you're imagining

-Beach- “Hmmm... I don't think so,” Aboy said, thinking, “If my grandfather got so bent out of shape when I just told someone his name, I don't think shouting it would be any better...” She paused, looking towards Damion, “Besides, you didn't seem to change or get hurt or anything after I told you my name, right?” -Coal Mine- Cess stumbled back, starting to feel worn out. He had managed to regain some energy after fighting Shinigami-Sama, but right now he was rapidly draining through his reserves. Still... he hadn't wanted to use this. Cess had been planning to save this if someone else needed it. But if he didn't use it now, it was possible they'd never get to the point where it could be used... they'd all just get killed. Cess frowned, and pulled out a small orb from his pouch. He gripped it tightly, and his Sacred Energy suddenly flared around him, Cess letting out a loud whooping noise as he felt his energy shoot back up. “Alright... the tank's all filled up!” Cess said, then turned. Avril was distracting Nanami at the moment, and it looked like Solei was fighting Takuma, but needed help... Cess pointed his finger at Takuma. Time to distract. “Hey, try and dodge this!” Cess yelled, “Spirit Gun!” Cess fired a powerful blast at Takuma! He was trying to pull focus off of Solei, give the girl more time to try her technique... |

[Coal Mines] Takuma was suddenly being attacked from two sides. Cess’ Spirit Gun came flying at him, and he had to twist his body into an unnatural position to evade it. As he did, however, Solei was attacking with the petrification attack. Takuma tried to twist and avoid it, but it caught his arm and stone began to spread across it. He growled, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a handful of small seeds. His hand flashed and he threw them to the ground. Suddenly the seeds transformed into eight gigantic monsters. They were each about five feet tall, gray and hunchbacked. ‘Nanami’ stood and watched Avril with crimson eyes. Her fingers twitched slight at her side, and a small gust of frost kicked up around each of her hands. It was clear that she was trying to decide whether or not to attack. She raised her hand, aiming it towards Avril… [Seiryu’s Mind] “Stop.” Nanami said, turning towards Seiryu, her eyes narrowed in fury. “What more do you want her to say? You’ve been in my head all these years, you know Avril. You know Lavan, Solei, Cess… you know them all.” “I owe Takuma. I promised him my help on one occasion. He has chosen to cash in that card now. You ask me to go back on my word, why? Because your friends care about you? Congratulations, you’ve managed to accomplish what practically everyone else in the world has. Don’t you feel special?” Nanami clenched her fist and suddenly rushed forward, throwing a punch at Seiryu. The blue-haired young woman simply vanished and reappeared behind her, kicking Nanami in the small of her back and sending her falling face-first into the snow. “… Really now. Did you really think that would work? You’re in my brain. I’m an ancient spirit of unlimited power. What part of this do you think equals you beating me in a fight?” “I won’t let you hurt them. I don’t care what you are.” Nanami growled, climbing to her knees and trying to get up. “Interesting. And how do you propose to stop me?” Edited by GoldenSama, Sep 14 2013, 09:35 AM.

-Coal Mine- Cess stared at the monsters, then looked towards Takuma, then back to the monsters. Then he started laughing, shaking his head, his laughter filling the cave for a few moments, before he straightened back up. “You really haven't been paying any attention, have you?” Cess asked idly, “I have the perfect technique for taking on multiple opponents!” Cess suddenly shot forward, pulling his left hand back. “Take another SHOTGUN!” Cess yelled, firing eight different blasts, one at each creature! |

[Seiryu’s Brain] “I said stop this!” Nanami demanded, shouting at the cerulean-haired embodiment of the dragon. “And I said be quiet.” Seiryu snapped. “I want to test your friends. I want to see what they are capable of. Fighting Lavan tells me nothing. He has the insufferable bird to fall back on. No, I want to see how the others can do." [Coal Mine] Suddenly, from ‘Nanami’s’ open hand came an enormous blast of wintery weather. A cloud of blinding white mist shot forward making it nearly impossible to see what was happening; and in the midst of that fog she shot several enormous, razor-sharp icicles – all headed straight for Avril! As the spirit shotgun came flying at the creatures, they opened their mouths wide. Air seemed to be sucked into their open maws – as was the energy from Cess’ spirit shotgun. Each of the creatures stood for a moment, and then began to glow with spiritual energy. “Oh, I always pay attention.” Takuma sneered. “And now you’ve charged them. Thank you for that. I was afraid I might have to do it myself.” The creatures roared, and started to charge at Cess! Edited by GoldenSama, Sep 15 2013, 01:30 AM.

-Coal Mines- Cess paused, then smirked, waving his finger at the beasts. “Come on, my Sacred Energy might be new, but I'm not an idiot about it!” Cess said, his eyes flashing as his Sacred Energy glowed around him. The eight monsters would start to glow golden as well, Cess holding out his thumb, pointing it upwards with a smirk. “I'd say this might be Spirit Bomb but I think I need to hold my hands in the air for it,” Cess said. “Put this will do.” He pointed his thumb downwards, and the Sacred Energy inside the monsters exploded! “I'm an Ace! I've fought Lord Death twice and I'm still around to tell the tale!” Cess declared, still ready to fight. |

Coal Mines "...Let go of Nanami..." Avril spoke out to the being who had taken control of Nanami, as there was a pause in 'Nanami's' action. "...Don't make me have to stop you..." Avril really did not want to have to fight Nanami, if just because of the friendship they shared. But beyond that, Avril also knew pretty well that under most circumstances, she was not on Nanami's fighting level. So when 'Nanami' finally shot a blast of ice at her, Avril could not take it on, head-on. That'd turn her into a popsicle. Instead, she jumped up to the ceiling of the cave, and used her telekinesis to essentially 'stick' to the ceiling like she was Spider-Man. Now, though, was the problem that she had no idea if Nanami was still in the same spot, or had moved. She didn't want to use her throwing knives, so instead, she tried to use the same trick she used earlier when they initially found that creature in the trailer. Concentrating, she held out her hand, to send out a weak telekinetic wave, to use almost like a radar. Then once she found something that she hoped was Nanami, she dropped back down to the ground, and sent another telekinetic wave out, to try and push what she had found back, and try to pin it against the wall. Beach "Mmmm... I don't think anything weird happened..." Damion pondered "But maybe the point is that if I didn't know it, and you screamed it at me... Maybe it could be used under those circumstances as like a last-resort, one-hit, insta-kill move! And then he's unhappy because since you said it normally to me, you now can't use it later to do that?" It was just a bit of a stretch to think that was true, but... Damion had a strange imagination. "I don't know, that guy's weird and his face looks like a prune... almost like he's the final evil boss of some sort of video game or something!" And now he was going off topic, voicing random gripes against the bald grandfather of his girlfriend. |

[Coal Mines] As the monsters exploded, Takuma simply watched on unimpressed. His lips curved into a thin smirk and he stepped forward. “Oh? You’ve dueled with death? How droll. I’ve battled Lord Death in a real battle. A fight to the last… so do not think I am impressed by a student’s duels.” Takuma sneered. He snapped his cane against the ground and suddenly several tendrils of energy shot forth from the impact of the cane and tried to impale Cess in the chest! The telekinetic wave did send Nanami backwards, and she hit the wall – and shattered into a million tiny pieces. It was simply an ice sculpture replica, created by ‘Nanami’ during the time she was covered by the mist. The real Nanami seemed to have completely vanished. There was nothing else found by Avril’s telekinetic radar, and even when the mist cleared, there was no sign of her. There were, however, several small puddles of water in various spots across the cavern. |

[Coal Mine] In the midst of a fight, it's always difficult to judge exactly what your opponent will do. No matter how creative you are, no matter how well-trained you are, there is always the chance that the opponent will set you up for a strike you simply cannot avoid. Experienced fighters did that all the time, setting up an enemy with a combination of strikes that left them weak to one particular blow, and then used it to finish an enemy. Lavan never relied on things like that. HE relied on creativity, instinct and prowess. But Nanami was currently possessed by the spirit of Seiryu, and fought with such setups in mind. It wasn't too difficult to figure out after the entire dragon comment. Lavan immediately knew what exactly was going on at the moment, but he couldn't even utter a single word to his allies or Nanami, because she caught him with a kick he was not expecting. A straight mule kick to the diaphragm that cracked every single rib he possessed and almost caved in his entire ribcage, blasting him across the chamber and into one of the tone walls of the mine, where he impacted with a loose set of stones and was summarily buried under several hundred pounds of stone weight. That was enough to make his sight white-out completely from the pain and force of the blow... ---------- And ended up in front of Suzaku's cage inside his mind. "Welcome back, punching bag. How does it feel to be what you are?" Lavan just groaned on the ground, grasping at the phantom pain in his chest he still felt, even deep inside his own mindscape. "Shut it, you big bag of feathered flea bites. I need to get back out there and knock some sense into that girl, and maybe the spirit that's causing her to fight so hard." Seiryu, however, did not appreciate being called names, and a wave of heat threw Lavan off his legs again, slamming him into a "wall" as the bird angrily called out. "Don't you DARE call me that, you little mortal child! I can still destroy you, inside and out if I wish!" Laban smirked up from where he landed, his backside hanging over his head, but looking no less feisty than before. "You still love me, so you won't kill me!" He only got a scoff in reply as the bird settled down. "Pft. Yeah right. Love? No, you're just useful, kiddo. But I didn't bring you here to banter with you." Lavan stood up again, shaking himself off, throwing an annoyed glance at the bird. "So if this isn't a peaceful chat, what do you want me for? I bet it's not cookies and tea, so come and spill whatever it is that you have to say." Suzaku rolled its massive back a few times as though setting an itch before focusing entirely on Lavan. "You want to go back there and fight her. You want to fight your own girlfriend. Why? The simplest solution would be to simply walk away, you know. Walk away with your allies, and the dragon's word would pass, and the girl would no longer be bound by anything. So why stay and fight?" Lavan looked up at the bird, blinking a few times as though trying to comprehend the question and failing, before finally the words burst out of his mouth without control. "What the hell are you saying, you old bird? Of course I have to fight her! Of course I have to bring her back!" Suzaku, however, shook its massive head. "No, you really don't. You don't have to ally yourself with that scaled b*tch either. The blue dragon was always too strict, too controlling. You know very well that you won't thrive under such conditions, you thrive when your flame can burn without restriction. So no, you REALLY don't need to keep fighting this battle, a losing fight you can never manage to win. Moreso..." The bird seemed to breathe inward, and a golden glow that seemed to pervade the room faded, compressing on the bars of its golden, gilded cage like glittering dust. "Moreso, I won't let you. As of now, you're wasting your potential, fighting a losing battle that you will doubtlessly die to. You face one of us, a greater spirit, a Guardian of a Gate. I will not allow you to continue wasting my power for the sake of helping a spirit that has always wanted to undermine my authority." "So what?" Lavan looked more and more agitated and furious as Suzaku spoke, finally interrupting the bird's tirade. "So what if she, he, it, whatever was someone that held you back? Don't you CARE? Theyre the closest thing to siblings that you have, a family of similar views, similar allegiance, and the same goal!" Suzaku simply shrugged. "I couldn't care less for such things. The spirits, they're there to protect the world because it is their duty. I protect it because it is the right thing to do, sure, and so do they. But that doesn't mean we like one another. And I think that whatever plan that Takuma character has could teach that big, blue, scaled worm that she is not the center of the universe." Lavan's answer was a roar back. "AND WHAT OF NANAMI??? WILL YOU JUST ABANDON HER TOO???" Suzaku seemed to grin, red flamed dancing around its eyes and head. "If it teaches Seiryu a lesson... Yes." Lavan stepped back as if struck. He couldn't believe what he was hearing from the bird that taught him the very definition of what fire was. He couldn't believe such words were coming from someone he considered one of his closest allies and a close friend. "All this time... All this time I thought you were different. You preach that fire is life, happiness, joy to spread around. But you're just... Just... No." He raised his head, glaring at the phoenix. "I won't stop. I won't let Nanami fall like that, and I WILL stop that Takuma guy AND Seiryu by myself if I have to!" Suzaku just laughed derisively. "Oh yeah? You and what army? Hm? You and what army, child?" Lavan turned around and away from the cage, gripping his hands as hard as he could. "Myself only if I have to." Suzaku was silent for a few seconds... And then said only two words. "... Show me." And Lavan's world went white again... ------------ The redhead woke up not under a pile of stones, but under Botan's careful care. He no longer felt any massive pain, and it looked like his wound on his stomach was closed up properly and was being healed. But he also felt an absence. Suzaku's power was missing from his veins, and he could feel its lack. It was like someone took all the color out of his world and hid it away, turning his point of view to black and white, all colors muted until they could barely be taken apart. He no longer felt as energetic as before, and a certain weakness seemed to settle on him like a heavy blanket. But he ignored it, and sat up, looking around quickly. "Wha? Botan? What the hell are you doing here?" Edited by HellAvatar, Sep 18 2013, 07:45 PM.

Coal Mine With Takuma's attack on Cess, Solei took that opportunity to jump back into the fray, using her ice encrusted fist to try and block the attack... or try and break off the ice. In the end, it did work... but as well as breaking through the ice, it broke through the skin she had petrified to try and protect her arm from extreme frostbite, causing her to shout out in pain, as she was flung back from the attack. The scream caught Avril's attention, as she looked around trying to find Nanami. "Solei?!?!" Solei picked herself back up, focused on Takuma, but then spoke out to Avril. "Don't worry about our fight, Avril... Just work on getting Nanami back..." With those words, Solei started chanting out another spell, which soon caused another stone pillar to form, but this one appeared out of the wall directly behind Solei, pushing her forwards at high speeds, as a spear of stone formed over her un-injured arm. She was trying to use it to increase the speed and power of her strike! Meanwhile, Avril looked around, at the water in the different areas of the cavern, thinking for a moment. "...Nanami. I know you're still here... Somewhere... You have to be! You've got to get back in control!!" ================= "Ahhh, good!" Botan exclaimed, as Lavan finally seemed to regain consciousness. "Wha? Botan? What the hell are you doing here?" "We came to try and provide some support, after Makai picked up some more abnormal energy from here," she answered, pointing out Cess. "But did they do something to you? Your... connection doesn't seem right, and everything I did didn't seem to affect it..." |

[Coal Mine] With the added speed boost, combined with Cess’ successful distraction efforts, Takuma did not see Solei coming until it was too late. The pale man gasped as the spear of stone ripped right through his chest and he went stumbling back. He grunted for a moment, and glanced down at the long stone spear jetting into his chest. He swallowed hard for a moment, and it was clear that Solei’s spear had gone straight through him. Takuma was stumbling around like a drunk. “… How obnoxious.” Takuma finally hissed. He straightened up and adjusted his tie, suddenly seemingly ignoring the gaping hole in his chest. “You making this all rather annoying.” From one of the puddles of water, laughter suddenly echoed. A blob of water shot up and then slowly took on humanoid shape, and transformed back into Nanami. She was laughing deeply, clutching one hand to her head as she glanced towards Lavan. “Oh… now this is rich. Featherbrain cut you off, didn’t he?” ‘Nanami’ mocked as she looked towards the injured redhead and Botan. “Suzaku… could it be you have finally learned your place? You realize how insignificant you are compared to the Great Seiryu and choose to withdraw to the depths of the boy’s soul rather than watch your host lose?” The words, while in Nanami’s voice, were clearly coming from Seiryu. [Seiryu’s Brain] "...Nanami. I know you're still here... Somewhere... You have to be! You've got to get back in control!!" Nanami looked up from the snowdrift towards the sky as she heard the words. She could see everything that was happening in the real world, and she saw the look of anguish on Avril’s face. She could not imagine how awful this moment must have been for her friends. Seiryu was tormenting them. She was taunting them and generally behaving like a contemptible hag. It made Nanami’s blood want to boil. “Enough!” Nanami roared as she stood up. “Stop attacking my friends. This ends now. I don’t care if you owe Takuma. I don’t care if he’s my biological father. I don’t care about your rivalry with Suzaku. This is over.” Seiryu sighed slightly and didn’t even bother to turn around to Nanami. “Ends now? Over? No, Nanami. I am having far too much fun. Killing Lavan now will be a slap in the face to Suzaku, and it’s been a great long time since I’ve had the fun of slapping him in the face.” “… Then get out of my head.” Nanami ordered. “This is my body. My mind. You’re a guest in my body… if you won’t obey my rules, then you can leave.” “If I leave, you will be a shadow of your current self. You’ve trained hard, you’re strong without me… but it is nothing compared to what we are together and you know it. You need my power. Especially with what is happening in the world now. No, Nanami, you will sit back and do as I say.” “No.” Nanami replied, shaking her head. “Here’s what’s going to happen. You’re going to leave my friends alone. You’re going to stop getting in my way. You will NEVER take control of my body again… and to top it all off, you’re going to give me access to your full, unrestricted power anytime I require it.” “That may be the funniest thing you’ve ever said.” Seiryu replied with a smirk on her lips. With a sigh, Nanami placed a hand on her hip. “If you don’t… then find a new host. Without my friends, I don’t have a purpose… I’ll destroy my body before I’ll let you use it to hurt them.” “You’re bluffing.” Seiryu replied calmly. “When have I ever bluffed?” Nanami asked with a raised eyebrow. “You’ve heard my conditions. Agree to them… or so help me, the moment my body is under my control again, I’ll destroy myself.” “I told you before, you’re not irreplaceable. I can find a new host. I am the Guardian of the Eastern Gate.” “Fine. Then you get a new body… a new host. A new personality to contend with. A new host to train and to guide. Do you really think it’s wise to start over now, with all that is happening?” Nanami mused with a smirk. “Would that not be a huge risk to the Gate? Would that not put you in a significant disadvantage? What about your duty?” Seiryu paused. Her mind was reeling. “… I actually believe that you’d do it… damn it… to be out maneuvered… Very well, I’ll make you a counter offer. I’ll spare your friends, give you back control… and I’ll increased your access to my abilities and knowledge. Not unrestricted, however, you’re far from ready for that.” “Deal.” Nanami agreed. Then she paused. “Oh, and next time we have one of these little talks, I get clothes.” Edited by GoldenSama, Sep 18 2013, 11:11 PM.

[Coal Mine] Lavan growled when Botan mentioned his missing connection to Suzaku's power. "Yeah, the stupid bag of molten feathers refuses to give me any more help at all, and wants me to cut my losses and run with my tail between my legs, leaving Nanami to her fate. Obviously, I'm NOT going to do that." He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "... Botan, I want you to not tell Nanami that what I am going to do now will require extensive healing and help. You will keep it quiet and under wraps and say NOTHING about it. The only way I can keep up with her is a move that will consume my own Efreeti flames as energy, and that's basically eating away at my body to make more power. So if I fall over, I'd appreciate a little medical help, but try to keep it away from Na-chan and her worries, okay?" Lavan stood up, stretched, patted the wound that was still not fully healed on his stomach. "See ya!" And again, Lavan activated the Ignition Impulse, but this time, he didn't have Suzaku's flames to burn through, didn't have the enormous power layout it was granting. This time, he was using only his own flames. Immediately, the corners of his eyes again began to bleed flame, and small bursts of fire came from his back where his wings used to be, but the wings themselves weren't appearing. They were a gift from Suzaku, and thus they weren't there now, with the great bird withholding its power from the pyro. And, with a burst of speed that kicked up dirt and dust in his wake, Lavan snapped right back into combat, shooting for Nanami and calling out his own challenge. "Don't write me off as dead YET!!! I AIN'T STOPPING TILL YOU'RE SANE AGAIN!!! SO STAB THAT STUPID LIZARD IMPERSONATOR IN THE EYE ALREADY, AND COME BACK TO US!!!" |

[Seiryu’s Brain] "Don't write me off as dead YET!!! I AIN'T STOPPING TILL YOU'RE SANE AGAIN!!! SO STAB THAT STUPID LIZARD IMPERSONATOR IN THE EYE ALREADY, AND COME BACK TO US!!!" Nanami and Seiryu both paused. They were staring one another in the eyes, Nanami’s crimson hues locked with Seiryu’s cobalt counterparts. “… I’ll honor our deal, but first I’m going to hurt him.” Nanami closed her eyes and swore beneath her breath. “Lavan, you massive, colossal idiot…” [Coal Mine] ‘Nanami’ turned to see Lavan come rushing at her and she raised her hand; blasting forth a series of incredibly large, razor sharp spikes of ice! |

[Coal Mine] This time, Lavan rushed in between the spikes, small bursts from his back sending him back and firth between the shots as he got closer and closer to the girl, taking a few scratches along the way, but definitely avoiding the majority of the strikes, snapping out an arm with a glowing palm. His blades were lost to him, still buried under rubble and stone, but he could still use his fists and since Nanami herself wasn't armed right now, he was at least even there. "Come on, Nanami could ALWAYS do better than that! Don't tell me that the great legless lizard thing is actually WORSE at combat than the host!" Lavan was openly trying to provoke the dragon spirit into overdoing it. Maybe it would work, or maybe he'd get hurt, bad. But either way, he could at least get the dragon's focus entirely on himself so Nanami could try to sneak her way back into control again. It was the only plan he had. So he went with it. |
![]() Now becomes the the past in an instant — and everyone will eventually die! Destiny triumphs over human knowledge and goes mad! That is the way of things! I spit upon this frail, crazed, world! I spit upon the Second Law of Thermodynamics! ~ Desty Nova, Karmatron Theory Let them Label me! Let them swear and curse at me as I tug humanity like a bucking bull into the darkness of the unknown, revealing its secrets to the sane and driving them MAD! In ages long past, I shall be looked upon as a tyrant and a savior! As a savant and as a fool! My work shall advance humanity long past its time, throw it into the unknown future and force it to grow strong or FALL! Years from now, when I will inevitably be removed, my work shall continue to progress, because these things cannot be denied! Governments will publicly criticize my work, but privately conduct research that advances it! I shall imprint myself into the annals of history, among the stars that shine as brightly as Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Dmitri Mendeleev, Nikola Tesla, and countless others! My work will shine as brightly as any star, and I AM ITS CREATOR!!! ~ Desty Nova, Morality

[Coal Mine] ‘Nanami’ snapped to the side, easily evading the fist meant for her. Seiryu jumped back several feet and crossed her arms. “So, you want to see what I can truly do, eh? Very well. Allow me to give you a small sample of what Seiryu is capable of.” With a simple snap of her fingers, everything changed. There was a suddenly wall of winter weather heading at Lavan from all sides. Freezing air mixed with billowing ice and snow, coming at him from all sides. It was sheer cold, a blast of such subzero temperatures that it was known to freeze lava even as it bubbled. Now it was attempting to freeze Lavan. |
