Carnival

"Awwww, and these clothes were new!" Sayuri sighed, looking at Musashi's shirt. "Ah, well. Let's get out of these clothes..."

She paused, took look around for the exit, in which time Musashi and the readers probably had a heart attack.

"And into something less sweaty!" She finished once she was done being preoccupied. "Come on, Prinny 'Sashi!" Sayuri lifted the Prinny and started carrying him out of the Fun House.

"Cool, dood!" Rrinny Musashi exclaimed, reverting to his Prinny roots.

"So what do you wanna do now, 'Sashi?" Sayuri asked. "Looks like the night's almost over..."

"Ah, well. Let's get out of these clothes..."

Musashi had fought an evil clown, been maced on accident and met the Prinny version of himself. All of those things were quite odd, but perfectly in the realm of normalcy for Musashi, and thus his brain was okay.

When Sayuri mentioned ditching their clothes, his brain became far less okay. There was a pop, a hiss, and a humming and his brain was fried like a egg, some bacon, or some scrapple. (Take your pick of delicious breakfast item).

“Um, right here? I mean... do you really want Prinny me to watch?”

Then she finished her thought and Musashi coughed, turned red, and tried to pretend like he knew what she meant all along. When she asked what he wanted to do, he coughed once more.

“... It IS getting late, we should probably head back towards Kubo. Unless there's someplace else you'd want to go?”

"Unless there's someplace else you'd want to go?”

Sayuri batted her eyes at Musashi. "Nooo, I asked you first!"

"Gross, dood!" Prinnt Musashi spat. "Get a room!"

"Good idea!" Sayuri decided, dropping Prinny Musashi. "We'll need a room... to study in!"

She put on her smart-person glasses (which had no lenses) and continued, "My advancement exam is tomorrow! I need to pass, so I can have classes with 'Sashi! Won't that be fun?"

She didn't let him answer that-- instead she marched forward. "C'mon, no time to waste!"

Musashi's brain is officially jello. Somewhere, Bill Cosby is plotting world domination using this newly discovered fact. He wondered if studying for an advancement exam would go anything like rehearsing for the play, but decided he would wait and be surprised.

“I'm coming Sayuri!” He called after her as he followed her and the Prinny Musashi out of the Carnival.

[Endsville]

Now back in the city and away from the creepy crazy carnival, Musashi took a deep breath of non-carnival air. No more invisible cotton candy spores in his lungs!

“Well, I guess it's back to Kubo, so we can study.” He kicked up his sword and twisted the dial (there is a dial on the handle) and then slashed the air; it cut the fabric of space and time, opening a portal to Kubo Academy, where the two could presumably return to the halls of learning.

"You guys go on ahead!" Prinny Musashi said, walking away from them. "I'm going to reunite with my Prinny brethren! Let all Prinnies know I'm here!"

He inhaled deeply, before letting out a long, howling, "DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!"

Sayuri shrugged and entered the portal with Musashi.

Girls' Dorms

The 2 teenagers arrived in front of the dorm Sayuri shared with her BFFs.

"Oh, take off your shoes at the door," Sayuri told Musashi, as she did this, herself. "Sarai would be really mad if we tracked in mud and clown blood and stuff."

She opened the door and held it open for her boyfriend and winked. "Come on in!"

Musashi exited the portal and instantly wondered if there was cake, or if that was a lie. He shrugged and kicked off his shoes, because untying things was lame. He finished just in time to see the door open, and catch her wink.

He smiled at her and headed into her room. With a small yawn, he sat down on the edge of her bed and ran a hand through his hair.

“Ahh, it's nice to be back at school, and have some quiet. I like parties especially ones I am throwing but I really enjoy having some peace and quiet sometimes.”

He looked up at her. “So, what do you have to study? I can help! I'm really good at the battle stuff... and, um, I guess I can try to help with math or something.”

"Oh, I don't need any help in math," Sayuri assured him, pulling up a chair next to the bed. She was holding her history book, upside-down. "What I'm really having trouble with is... social studies."

I'm not sure when "social studies" became a euphemism for, like, anything, but there you go.

"Did you know," She began, looking at her flipped-the-wrong-way text, "That in ancient Sparta, women were made to look like men on their wedding day? Like, they had to shave their heads and everything!"

My isn't that a lovely thought.

She leaned forward and batted her eyes again. "Interesting, right?"

Musashi paused at the way she said 'social studies'. She said it all italicized, which usually meant either sarcasm or double entendres, and since Sayuri was about as sarcastic as that paperclip who used to haunt Microsoft Word, he was pretty sure this was some kind of euphemism. Plus she was batting her eyes.

Then she started talking about Sparta (somehow resisting the meme opportunity) and he flinched. “Ick! I'm glad we don't live in ancient Sparta! I like you looking like a girl... but that is very interesting.”

Musashi grinned to her, and he leaned back. "Well now... how can I help you study being social?"

Okay, so social studies was not getting her point across very well. But, I mean, you can't really blame Musashi. It was a terrible metaphor, and the fun fact she provided might have been the least sexy thing I've ever heard. Learning was not a good subtext for flirting.

"Nevermind, forget the Spartans." Sayuri sighed, tossing the book onto Amelie's bed. "Ummmm, how about Marine Biology?"

Sayuri had already aced the practice exam on the biology section, but come on, you knew this was never about studying.

"Ooh, here's another fun fact!" She said, holding up the book, which had a huge white owl on the cover. "Did you know that no Triggerfish are born male? The most dominant female just changes into a male in order to reproduce with the less masculine females!"

Forget what I said earlier-- THAT might be the least sexy thing I've ever heard.

[Girls' Dorms]

When Sayuri mentioned 'Marine Biology', the first thing Musashi thought of was the Yellow Submarine. He was sure there was a joke about 'hands on learning' he could make, but before he could figure out how to work it into the conversation, Sayuri was back onto one of her 'fun facts'.

Musashi frowned. The idea of a woman having to look like a man to get married was kind of a mood killer – but the idea of a woman having to become a man in order to do the flowery-chao dance was a mood destroyer.

“Oh... um... yeah.” Musashi blinked. He didn't know how to respond to fish sex changes. (Would YOU?)

Sayuri frowned. Bless her stupid heart, she really couldn't understand why this wasn't working.

The little hamster in her brain ran around the wheel a few times as she thought. She had to think of something that wouldn't totally gross him out...

"I think we might have seen some triggerfish, when we were on the Yellow Submarine...?" She mentioned, batting her eyes. "Remember?"

Yea, Sayuri, THAT'S what he remembers about that day. He remembers seeing some hermaphroditic fish swim by the window. Why am I so mean to my own characters? Oh yea, because I'm a horrible person! Muahahaha

Musashi could honestly say that he did not remember seeing any triggerfish swim by the yellow submarine.

Mega Shark could have fought Giant Octopus right outside the window, with nuclear swords and armies of Owls, and Musashi would not have noticed. His mind had been ever-so-slightly distracted.

“Err... I don't remember that,” Musashi frowned. Then, as she batted her eyes, he gave a rather sheepish grin as his face turned roughly the same color as a radish.

“... But, I do remember a lot of other stuff about when we were on the Yellow Submarine... that was a good day.”

"Mmm-hmmmmmm," Sayuri agreed sweetly. "It was. Feels like it was only yesterday probably because it was only like 3 days ago."

Then Musashi turned red, and Sayuri became worried. "Awww, 'Sashi! Do you have a fever?" In order to check his temperature, Sayuri put her hand on his forehead, then put her hand on her own forehead to compare. "Hmmmm..."

She pressed her forehead against his to make sure he had a fever, probably making his temperature shoot up instantly.

"Yep! Definitely, definitely a fever!" She decided, batting her eyelashes again. Was she in on the joke? I don't even know anymore. "You should lie down, 'Sashi! That's make you feel better."

Disclaimer: Sayuri is not a nurse, so you should not take her advice. If she was a nurse, she'd have suggested a solution involving needles.

[Girls Dorms]

Musashi's temperature was up indeed; but not from a fever. The actual cause of his elevated body heat would not be fixed by Sayuri invading his personal space, or the instructions to lie down.

“... I suppose I could lie down, but I could use something to cuddle...” Musashi was definitely enjoying the direction this was going; but that was about to change.

There was a loud, obnoxious ring on his phone. It was a series of guitar riffs that sounded as if they were being played by a crazy person. This was not Musashi's normal ring tone – it was one that was assigned to just one number.

His face turned pale and he jumped up from the bed, fumbling for the phone in his pocket. He looked at the screen, as if in disbelief by what he already knew from the specific ring tone.

“Oh... oh man...” Musashi gulped. He slowly held the phone to his ear. “Hello?”

“Hey Musashi! I just heard a crazy rumor... you got MARRIED to some chick you met on the first day of school. That's so silly!”

Musashi gulped. “Err... well... it's kind of complicated... but, um, that's sort of true...”

“... What the hell!? You GOT MARRIED!? ARE YOU INSANE!? YOU'RE SEVENTEEN! What will mom and dad say!? Do they know? Wait... oh geez, Musashi, did you knock this chick up? UGH I knew I shouldn't have let you hang out with the old man!”

Musashi's brain almost died. “N-No that's not it at all! Don't assume things!”

“... Whatever. You getting married... this IS kind of interesting... okay! Finally, there's a reason to stop skipping school! I'll see you soon!”

The click of a hang up sounded in Musashi's ear. He slowly put the phone away and slumped back onto the bed, looking as if he might be having a panic attack.

During Musashi's phone conversation, Sayuri had walked around to the other side of the bed and sat down next to him. Then, she held her head up close to his while he talked, hoping to hear both ends of the discussion.

"What was that, 'Sashi?" She asked. She observed that Musashi was now panicking like a porcupine in a balloon factory. "You look even worse than before! Here," She pushed him shoulders lightly. "You should lie back, and keep your foot elevated, and, um, turn your head and cough."

Yea Sayuri is not a doctor.

"Now," She said calmly, taking his hand. "Tell me aaaaaaaall about it!"
