[Training Grounds] Musashi saw the look of confusion playing out on Spoony’s face and he gave a small smile. He saw that his friend did not understand yet, but he expected no less – one did not learn such things immediately. He knew it would take time, but he also knew that Spoony would end up stronger and more confident for it. Spoony really did remind Musashi of himself at a younger age. When the smaller boy went for his legs; Musashi jumped up, flipping over Spoony and landing behind him. He gave a light thwack on the top of Spoony’s head with his kendo stick. “You must think about your attacks. Analyze your opponent, learn how they act, how they move, how they think – even learn how they breath! You must also learn it all instantly in the heat of battle. You must also pay attention to your own body – your movements, your heart rate, how you stand, how you hold your weapon – there are a million things you must always be aware of!” Musashi grinned. “It sounds complicated… and I will not lie and pretend it is simple. However; you can master it! When your mind and your body are in sync, you can fight better than a thousand enemies!” ((This is post # 2,700 in RA. Let's party.)) |

Training Grounds Spoony thought to himself, "Mind and body being in sync...? I don't quite get it... but I guess it's kinda like the whole thing about having your weapon be an extension of you? Like being in sync with my weapon? Oh, I wish this were all much easier to grasp..." Spoony decided to try and close his eyes. That's what people are supposed to do to concentrate and fight better, right? Once again, he ran towards Musashi, trying to sense his general area rather than see it, but just as he opened his eyes to try and swing at Musashi again, he realized that he was just going to miss again. So right as he swung down, he also flung out his foot and kicked Musashi in the shin. It wasn't quite the kind of hit he'd hope to land, but it did seem to connect. |

[Training Grounds] Musashi watched Spoony charge at him with his eyes closed and he chuckled a bit to himself. His buddy did not understand yet, but at least he was trying with all of his heart! Musashi knew that when a man put his heart into something, he was able to accomplish great things! And indeed, Spoony finally landed a hit on Musashi… it was a kick to the shin and was nothing like what Musashi expected or wanted him to do; but it had still been a hit! Musashi jumped up, catching his sore shin and laughed. “Ha ha… well, that’s one way of doing things!” He winked at Spoony. “Ah, but that’s a cheap shot. It’s not very heroic, but you did use your body as a weapon and you always should think of body and weapon as one, so you’re on the right track!” Musashi nodded. “You have to think about your attacks even as you make them. When your mind and your body are in sync, you can adjust for movement and mistakes. You’ll be able to react in a split second… so let’s test your reaction speed!” He darted forward and tried to land a soft blow on Spoony’s arm. He was not really using his full speed and nowhere near his full strength – but Musashi was Musashi; he could go toe-to-toe with even many of the blue students! |

Training Grounds Spoony was now on the defensive, and realized that he had to think fast if he wanted to avoid the incoming blow from Musashi. Just as the older boy neared Spoony, Spoony flinched and grabbed the end of Musashi's kendo stick. It wasn't quite a block, but it did prevent Spoony from getting hit. It's a good thing that these were kendo sticks and not swords or scythes, however. As grabbing on to one of those might not be too wise. |

[Training Grounds] Musashi frowned as Spoony reached out and grabbed the incoming kendo stick. He shook his head a little. “Spoony, you can’t do something like that! I know these are just wooden sticks, but you have to pretend this combat is real. If this had been my actual katana… you’d be missing half your hands!” Musashi suddenly snapped his wrist, swinging the kendo stick and (attempting) to thrown Spoony back. He had to demonstrate a bit of actual combat to his friend to make sure the lesson sunk in. Then he grinned. “But don’t worry! You’re still learning. Eventually, I’m sure you’ll be able to defeat me!” |

Training Grounds Spoony was thrown back. He really did have a lot to learn. Granted, he was somewhat of a quick learner, but that doesn't mean he can learn things in an instant, of course. So he was still having some trouble against Musashi... though, that's to be expected. It WAS Musashi, afterall. And then Musashi's words only confused Spoony more. "How could I ever defeat you, Musashi?" Spoony asked. "I mean... you've got YEARS more experience over me. No matter how hard I train, there's no way I could ever get good enough to defeat you." |

[Training Grounds] Musashi frowned and his eyes narrowed. His voice suddenly became stern and his words full of power. “Spoony! You doubt yourself again! You must never have doubt in your heart! A man with the chains of doubt around his heart will never soar to the heavens!” Musashi struck another dramatic pose, complete with his sunglasses showing up somehow and a spotlight shining on him. The light and glasses disappeared again, since they were inside and Musashi was not a loser. “If you believe you can win, you are on the right path! It still takes hard work, discipline and commitment to your cause… but if you have the belief in your heart, you can eventually reach your goal!” |

Training Grounds Spoony looked at Musashi... and for a moment... he almost felt as though he were looking at an older version of himself. It freaked him out for a moment, but then also made him think. Maybe it was a sign that everything he aspired to be wasn't as far-fetched as he thought. Spoony had become curious of Musashi's own training now, however. "Say, Musashi..." Spoony asked, "Who trained you when you were my age, anyway? It's funny to think, but... even though you're my best friend. There's a lot about your past that I really don't seem to know about." |

[Training Grounds] Musashi blinked as Spoony asked him about his own origins with this sort of thing. He gave a small half-smile as he remembered back to the days of his youth. He had been a bumbling red student, clumsy and scared of his own shadow half the time. All the guys picked on him, and all the girls ignored him (except perhaps a certain girl who was a green student at the time and is well-known for creeping on younger guys). His life at Kubo had been pure hell and Musashi had gone home crying, vowing to never return! “… My dad taught me.” Musashi said to Spoony with a grin. He remembered coming home to The Over Office and crying to his dad about his bad day. The President had bopped him on the head and told him all about HIS bad day, which included dealing with annoying Senators, fighting an evil brain from Dimension X and having his tuxedo ruined by a clumsy maid. Presidents in Makai took the ‘Commander-in-Chief’ role very literally. “My dad told me I’d never become strong and cool without confidence, and he started teaching me to use a sword, because it always made him feel cool. He used to be a big-time martial arts and swordsman champion before he got into politics. Anyway, I learned from him… although he was a much meaner teacher I am.” Musashi grinned and patted Spoony on the back. “You know, now that you mention it, I don’t know all that much about your past either… I mean, I didn’t even meet Sayuri till this year! I guess we’ve never talked a lot about this kind of stuff, eh?” |

Training Grounds "Heh..." Spoony said, "You're right. We really haven't." Spoony sighed, "But, it must be pretty cool to have a dad. I mean, I guess everyone has a dad, but I never knew mine. All my life, I've only ever been taken care of by my mom and by Sayuri, whenever she was too busy to take care of me... which was pretty often." Spoony sat down on the ground, crossed legged, as he folded his arms around his kendo stick. "I've never really been taught anything about fighting before today. That's probably why I got beat so badly when fighting Ryan. I never really had a male figure in my life. Most of the time, I was either being taken care of by my mom or by Sayuri. One day, though, I would like to find out who my dad is and meet him. I can only wonder... what kind of a man he must be like." |

[Training Grounds] Musashi looked to his friend and gave a small sigh. Poor Spoony, the kid had grown up without a dad or any brothers, and instead was left with just his mom and Sayuri to raise him. And considering Sayuri was only a few years older than him and, well, not the sharpest log in the kitchen, it did explain some things. Musashi looked up and thought about how to respond. “It’s weird… usually people tell me ‘it must be pretty cool to have a dad whose the President’, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone envious just of the actual dad part…” He frowned and patted Spoony on the shoulder. “Don’t let it bother you, though! If you want to find him, I’ll help you! I mean, I have access to Secret Service Ninjas and can pretty much get them to do all kinds of stuff!” It raised the question of why he did not just call them to break into Polly D-Bag Jr’s house. Maybe because he also had Secret Service Ninjas, or because his dad would find out. Or because shut up. He paused. “Did you ever ask your mom?” |

Training Grounds Spoony scratched the side of his face and answered, "Well... I actually have tried to bring up the subject a few times in the past. But each time I would, she'd always just give a nervous laugh and try to change the subject. For some reason, it seems like she's not all that comfortable talking about it. She had always told me that my dad was a great man, though. Someone who's apparently very important or something. But she never told me his name or what he was or even why he's never around." Spoony sighed, "But, ya know, Musashi, if you really could help me find out who he is... that would be pretty awesome. I can't tell you how hard it is going your whole life with a mystery like this constantly looking over your shoulder. It might not be easy, though. My parents apparently never got married, so my mom's last name is not the same as his. Without ANY sort of clue to go on, it could be pretty hard to try and find him." |

[Trainings Grounds] Musashi thought about the dilemma at hand. Spoony’s didn’t seem to want to tell him, but it sounded like she did know who it was. That ruled out the possibility that his mom just didn’t know, which was a good thing for obvious reasons that we won’t explore. However, if his mom was being mum on the idea of telling, they would just have to find another way. “It will be hard… but I have Secret Service Ninjas at my disposal! I mean, they’re ninjas, but they’re also Secret Service… if ANYBODY can find out, I’m sure the Secret Service Ninjas can! I mean… they are ninjas, and ninjas are the coolest thing ever.” Musashi really liked ninjas. Three guesses why. First two do not count. “Anyway, we’ll figure something out! Don’t worry about it! If I promise we’ll find out, we’ll find out! You can always believe in me!” |

Training Grounds Spoony had been dreading coming to Musashi earlier in the morning when he was unsure of what would become of their little meeting... but now he was actually pretty glad that he had come, afterall. Despite all the craziness that had taken place before... or all the drama... or anything of the sort, Musashi was still the same guy that Spoony had always remembered. Musashi was the guy that had defended Spoony from Butch three years ago, afterall, when they first met. "Thank you, Musashi..." Spoony said, with a half smile. "You really are pretty awesome. It's a shame we never had too many chances to really get to know each other like this until today." Spoony had been cursing his luck quite a bit since coming to Kubo... but today seemed to have been a relatively good day for him. One he really needed. "I'm sure you're right, though! If anyone can find this out, it would be you! I mean, you ARE the President's son, afterall. You've definitely got connections to find out just about anything you'd ever want to know. So now I KNOW that this mystery won't be a mystery at all for much longer!" |

[Training Grounds] Musashi gave a grin and ruffled his friend’s hair. He was in a very good mood once more! His friendship with Spoony seemed repaired and rejuvenated – and stronger than ever before. It was really odd that the two had never talked about their lives like this in three years of knowing each other, but again I refer you to shut up and stop questioning the plot. “You’re welcome, Spoony! I’m always there to help my friends, and you’re still a friend so close, I’ll always think of you like a brother!” He reached into his pocket and whipped out his cell phone. Rather than texting Sayuri, however, he dialed a number. “… Wayne! It’s me, Musashi! Get Bruce and all the other Secret Service Ninjas together! I need you guys to do a favor for me! I have a buddy of mine, his name is –” The door opened and Kaiba walked in. He noticed people were in here so he could not ‘appreciate’ the dragon poster, so he ran out, slamming the door shut so loudly that it masked the sound of Spoony’s real name. “… Anyway, he’s never met his dad! I want you to use all your ninja tricks and find his dad! … Yes, I mean it! … Hey, I’m abusing my powers, deal with it!” He clicked the phone off and looked to Spoony. “No worries, my friend! Bruce and Wayne are the best Secret Service Ninjas ever, for obvious reasons! They have a few friends who will help too, and soon we’ll know the truth about your dad!” |
