I can't see what you're imagining
-Central: Ansem's House-

Basement

“I do not switch shapes,” Ansem said, with a chuckle though, “It is merely a disguise, to hide my face. There are people who wish me dead, and the DiZ alias I can use without fear that they'll come after the true me. Covering my face and a change of clothes does wonders. Most people don't notice past the superficial.”

He headed up the stairs, opening the door, producing a small key.

“If you wish to know my real name...I will tell you later, perhaps. And please, I do have a couple guests here, do not alarm them.”

Ground Floor

As Ansem led Allen and Cloud up to the ground floor, Galv frowned, looking at the odd creature floating about.

“I wonder what it is...” he said, glancing to Melanie, “Do you have any idea?”

Shimera decided to help Cess stand up straight. She got to his side and propped him up with her arm gently. "Should I take you somewhere to rest...?" she asked, her face showing an expression of worry.

[Ansem's Study]

Allen sighed dejectedly as his stomach made another incredibly loud grumble, rubbing it with a hand to try and settle it somewhat so it would at least remain quiet until he ate. Of course, his stomach usually didn't listen to him when he was hungry. That and his thoughts were very hard to take away from food.

"I doubt I could sneak up on even the most inattentive with how my stomach's behaving right now."

When Ansem opened the door to his study and let his guests through, Allen took a quick look around. This place was... Surprisingly organized for a personal study. Of course, the only personal study that he saw regularly was Komui's office and the desks of the R&D division. A lot of book lined the shelves, a lot of them studies on darkness and dark magics and energies.

"Woooa. This place is MUCH better organized than Komui's office. You have a lot of books on darkness though... Such a grim subject..."

He picked one of the books off the shelves, listing through it and just skimming a few pages before sighing and placing it back on the shelf.

"... Demons and darkness are far too grim to exist in this world..."

His stomach let out another low rumble at that time, and Allen made a somewhat constipated face as he tried to keep his hunger in check.

[Guest Room]

Tim, after making his official surveillance of the two people in the room, decided that he had enough and started to fly about the room, looking around curiously, a surprisingly intelligent behavior from a small, winged and tailed gold ball. After surveying the room, he flew over to the door, fluttering around it in annoyance, before turning to the two and hovering there, waiting for something.

Then, suddenly, there was a low rumble that sounded from somewhere beyond the door, like some mighty beast's dangerous growl. Timcanpy bolted away from the door at first, startled, before recognizing the sound...

And hovering around the door, obviously wanting it to be open.

WHY the golem was trying to open the door from which a dangerous-sounding growl came was anyone's guess...

"Well...Hi there!"

The tiny golden golem floated around Melanie's head a few times and the girl couldn't help but to admit it was rather cute in a strange way...It was so tiny!

...But then it started over to the door....Where a low growl was heard. Melanie blinked, and paled slightly.

"...Maybe you shouldn't go over there...."

That growl was awfully scary sounding....

Ankh-Morpork

Crystal held onto the small boy carefully, stopping right in front of Sama and leaning down once more. She pointed on her messy hair friend and then looked to Hammah

"Don't worry, this is Sama. He's not scary, more silly than anything else! Of course he'd be more silly if he would sit still"

She then took her hands and placed them back on her friend's wounds, her hands glowing a bit. While doing this she looked to Spork. "He's really adorable, such a sweetie'

[Ankh-Morpork]

"Don't worry, this is Sama. He's not scary, more silly than anything else! Of course he'd be more silly if he would sit still"

Sama winced thrice. The first time was because his leg hurt from the lightning, the second time was because Crystal was growling at him in bold letters, and the third – well, anytime the girl you’ve crushed on for years calls you ‘silly’, your soul takes a punch in the gut.

He sighed… but suddenly that sigh because worse as he looked at Hammah. If what Spork said was correct, the boy had lost his parents on… that day. Sama winced, wondering how many other children were running around without parents because the Avatar had failed to save his people?

“… Hiya.” Sama said meekly, waving at the small boy. He did not have the courage to look the kid in the eyes.

[…]

As light expanded along the ground, the Waltz body shook. Suddenly the monster jumped up into the air, thrashing violently. Its arms and legs flailed about and it roared aloud, bubbling at its mouth like an angry crab.

The Waltz flew up, and suddenly flew off into the darkness – twitching and thrashing all the way. Some people probably tried to stop it, but the beast managed to avoid their attacks and escape… disappearing into the blackness of the night.

[Ansem’s Study]

Cloud was, as usual, quiet as he followed Allen and Ansem. He did not say much, however every now and then he did look around the room. He knew they were not alone, and he felt a presence nearby… he did not know it was just Galv, Melanie and a odd floating Golem.

Even if he had known, he might have still been a bit freaked out. Cloud was freaked out easily, even if he never showed it. He never displayed emotions, instead he just clutched his sword and frowned.

"... Demons and darkness are far too grim to exist in this world..."

Cloud looked up to him. “… Perhaps it is the humans who are too cheerful to exist in this bleak and grim world.”

Cloud was emo, if you can’t tell.

Study

“Or maybe it's the fact we can not coexist with both Light and Dark peacefully,” Ansem chimed in, “As it is, the food should be in the kitchen. It's a bit cold by now, but I can heat it up.”

As he led them into the hallway, they would pass by the door that held the guest room...

Guest Room

“...I'll check it out...” Galv said, deciding to be brave. Maybe he could impress Melanie! The red head paused, then shook his head, trying to get that thought out...But it persisted.

With a slight sigh, he then headed to the door. He flung it open, and paused, seeing Ansem as he was passing by.

“Ah, hello Galv,” Ansem said, “There are a couple over guests for the moment.” he motioned towards Allen and Cloud.

“...Ummm...hi?” Galv said weakly. “Did uhhh...anyone hear a growling noise?”

-Ankh-Morpork-

Sora frowned, watching as the Black Waltz shot off.

“It got away...” Sora frowned.

Some of the crowd had dispersed, but a number was still around, wondering if something else was going to happen.

As Crystal attended Sama's leg, Hammah moved away and hid behind Spork again. He did not have any specific fear of Sama though. He was just distrustful of most people.

“...Hey, we might want to hide...” Spork muttered, as a black carriage was seen, pulling through the crowds, stopping by Didymus, Garnet, and Steiner.

Cess blushed slightly, but shook his head, “I just...I need to recharge my energy. I used a lot of magic in that healing spell...”

He paused, looking around, then pointed towards a large tower. Unseen University's.

“Let's go over there...a lot of magic. I'll be able to recharge faster...” Cess answered, “Hopefully it won't also turn us into anything.” he said that last part with a chuckle, though.

The black carriage opened up, and a sharply dressed man stepped out, looking at those who had fought the Black Waltz.

“The Patrician requests the company of the individuals here,” the man said, looking towards Didymus, Garnet, and Steiner more specifically, “Do keep in mind that this is not an order. You are not citizens of Ankh-Morpork, after all. Merely a request. You're perfectly allowed to decline the offer.”

The driver of the coach appeared to be examining a crossbow.

Melanie blinked.

Okay, she couldn't have been hearing things because Galv and the small golem had acknowledged it as well...And they ALL couldn't have been crazy....Could they?

"There was something! It sounded scary" she informed Ansem, just in case the older man thought Galv was crazy.

Ankh-Morpork-

"That sounds like a good idea" Crystal said quietly, focusing intently for a few moments so she could at least get the healing process started for Sama's injured leg, The glow continued for a few moments before her hands returned to their normal tan hue.

"If you want I'll take a look at it later, If we ever get a chance to rest" Crystal said, going back over to Hammah (apparently her new favorite person) and smiling. "We're gonna play a hiding game now okay?" she said sweetly to the blond child.

[Central: Ansem’s House]

Cloud did not respond to Ansem, instead, choosing to become quiet again. It was what he did. He was very content to just go eat (or at least, nibble on food while waiting as if he expected a war to break out at any moment). Then a door opened and he made a move to defend himself…

… until he saw the small figure of Galv. He became far less cautious, but still remained on edge.

“… I didn’t hear anything.” Cloud said quietly.

[Ankh-Morpork]

“Do keep in mind that this is not an order. You are not citizens of Ankh-Morpork, after all. Merely a request. You're perfectly allowed to decline the offer.”

Garnet frowned when the sharply dressed man spoke to them. It did not sound like a request, and from the demeanor of the driver, it was not one. She was tempted to point out that she was next-in-line to the Throne of a mighty magical nation, but decided it was best to keep that a secret.

However, a thought occurred to her… if the Patrician was in charge of Ankh-Morpork, then perhaps he was someone who could help them. She did need to get to Treno, after all.

“Very well. Lead the way.” Garnet decided, making up Steiner and Didymus mind’s for them.

[…]

Some of the pain in his leg vanished from the brief time in the water, and Sama had to smile a bit. It was nice to have a friend who was adept at water bending. Of course, he could do it too… but healing oneself was a bit tricky, given it was painful and his natural inclination was to stop whenever he tried it.

“I hate hiding…” Sama sighed. “But I’m used to it. You have a place we can go?” He asked Spork.

Allen followed DiZ and stopped, blinking as the door opened and revealed a pair of youths close to his own age. His eye immediately activated, the gear spinning wildly as he looked at Melanie intently.

She was the last source of dark energy. However, he was right: she didn't present much of a threat, and the fact that DiZ spoke of her as of someone who wasn't likely to go out on a rampage and start killing people, he decided to trust the man.

He closed his eyes, suppressing the curse of the eye and making a quick bow at the waist.

"Hello! I'm Allen Walker! Nice to see that not everyone in this house is an old man!"

When he straightened up, his stomach protested. Loudly. With a beast-like growl. A very... FAMILIAR beast-like growl. Allen put a hand to his stomach sheepishly grinning.

"Ehhehehe... Sorry."

The golden golem suddenly came flitting from behind the door and spun around Allen in a quick circle. The whit-haired boy brightened up instantly.

"Timcanpy! So that's where you were hiding!"

The golden golem circled around the boy's head before settling down right on his hair, folding its wings. IT looked remarkably comfortable there, and Allen just chuckled at the golem's behavior.

"I'm sorry if Tim here caused any trouble. He tends to get into quite a few adventures on his own."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dark Dining Room

In a spot somewhere far away and detached from any sort of approach, a white table was set, a long, square, white table with dishes on it that would make a king envious. The silverware was immaculate. The glasses made of crystal and filled with wine or juice. The food steaming, hot and ready to be consumed, ranging from the most exquisite cuisine to the most exotic of dishes and fruits.

At the table, 13 people were seated and calmly eating their food. 6 on either side with one at the head of the table, a menacing-looking, rather portly individual with a sharp nose, long ears, gray skin, evil yellow eyes behind a pair of glasses and a humongous mouth, the entire image giving him a rather grotesque and menacing look. On either side of the table, seated 6 on each side, were similar gray-skinned people.

The dinner was eaten in complete silence and immaculate manners, though some of these people were dressed far from immaculate. Finally, when they got to the desserts, one of the people, a large gray-skinned brutish man, suddenly stood up, turned about and grabbed one of the servants, who was standing to the side and waiting for the dinner to finish, and began to pound him mercilessly.

"I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO MAKE MY DESSERT SWEETER!!! SWEETER!!! NOT LESS SWEET!!! SWEETER!!!"

A voice quickly stopped him, belonging to the most immaculately-dressed man at the table.

"Skin, be quiet, take a seat and finish your dinner."

"It's not ******* sweet. I won't eat this garbage. Blech."

The man at the head of the table set his spoon down finally, and as the man identified as skin took a seat with a lot of grumbling, spoke up. The fat man's voice sounded old, somewhat garbled, and infused wit both kindness and an otherworldly malice.

"I have not called you all here today for just a dinner, my dear family. Important events are afoot. Important games are beginning. And it is time."

Another of the gray-skinned people, a girl in her teens with purple, spiky hair suddenly piped up, sounding all too happy.

"Really? We finally get to do something? Millenie, are we really going to actually do something this time???"

The man at the table nodded, his grotesque grin widening.

"Yes, Road. It is time. The 2-thousand-year-old intermission is finally over. The Noah shall finally show themselves again, and Humanity shall yet again careen towards certain doom."

The gentleman from before ran a hand through his messy hair, giving out a sigh, before smiling slightly and giving the man at the head of the table a look of anticipation.

"Well then, Millennium Earl... Shouldn't you give us our objectives?"

The man identified as the Millennium Earl dove into the pocket of his wide suit and fished out a deck of cards, bringing 12 of them out and throwing them across the table, one card for each person. As the individuals each took a card, the Earl steepled his fingers and spoke.

"Each of those cards will lead you to your target. You will have unlimited access to my dear, cute, adorable demons. I expect you all to succeed in your missions. It is time we have sown chaos in this world: kill those who are depicted on your cards. Do it in any way you see fit, but make sure they are dead. Permanently. We do not want anyone getting any ideas. Once you complete your kill, I shall give you another card."

A pair of gray-skinned teenagers, dressed similarly and with similar facial features, (though looking at the same time as different as night and day), picked up their cards and grinned to each other.

"Well then! Thanks, Millenie! We'll get right on this, and expect us to go and kill them quickly!"

His brother supported him immediately. "Yeah! And we'll make sure to send you a nice greeting card from that part of the world! Maybe a brochure!"

The first one snickered. "Or maybe we'll stop by some interesting place and send you a few heads!"

The Earl just chuckled, clapping his hands.

"Well, you have your missions, my clansmen! Go! Time for us to shine upon the stage once again!"

The gray-skinned people stood up and slowly dispersed as the Millenium Earl chuckled darkly.

Ankh-Morpork

Steiner yelled and screamed at the Waltz as it flew off. Didymus, even, raised his sword at it...but it got away.

"Oh dear..." he said. And was silent a bit.

Then, their presence was requested by "the Patrician".

Didymus wanted to have some time to talk to Garnet, but she already basically said that they would go with him...

...he shot Garnet a look. Not an openly hostile or angry look, but one that showed he wished to have an earnest, and perhaps hard, word with her later.

As it was, though, he got up and stood by her side.

"As she said, lead the way..."

-Ankh-Morpork-

“Excellent. It's just a short ride in the coach,” the sharply dressed man said. Once they were in, which included Sora and Kairi, the coach was off.

The Avatar and the others seem to have vanished...

A few moments ago, Spork focused, and the earth around Sama, Crystal, Hammah, and himself shifted, and they suddenly found themselves going downwards.

Ankh-Morpork was built on a bit of silt, but mostly, Ankh-Morpork was built on Ankh-Morpork. As the city sank, people would build over existing houses. Rooms became cellars, and cellars became forgotten rooms.

With a map and a sledgehammer, someone could get around Ankh-Morpork underground.

“Here we are,” Spork said, in the slight gloom, “Err...Hammah, a little light?”

The young boy paused, then held out his hands. Fire sprung up, illuminating the area.

“Underground rooms and passages, all through Ankh-Morpork. Mostly built out of stone down here, so I can get around pretty easily,” Spork said, “Where do you need to go?”

Cess blushed some more when Shimera carried him over to the Unseen University. As they got closer, Cess could feel the more concentrated magic. He was beginning to feel a bit better already.

“...Ummm...thanks...” Cess said, when they landed.

The Green Dragon Inn

Garet awoke with a start.

“...Errrr...Felix...Ivan?” Garet wondered, looking around, “Where did everyone go?”

The Patrician's Palace

The coach stopped outside the palace, and the group was ushered into a room, with a large table.

An older man was looking over paperwork, not seeming to notice the unusual group that had been brought in.

After a few moments, he placed the paperwork aside, and looked up.

“Greetings,” Havelock Veterni, Patrician, tyrant, ruler, of Ankh-Morpork. He believed fully in the principle of 'One Man, One Vote.' He was the One Man, so his was the One Vote.

“I am glad you decided to come. Sit, sit. I understand one of you is royalty...” he stared at Garnet for a second, then continued, “Don't be alarmed though. I have...eyes and ears many places. Ankh-Morpork has no standing army, and we have no want to get into a war. As far as I am concerned, I am still doing paperwork, and you're not actually here...”

He folded his fingers together, staring at the group to a couple inches to the left. Sora felt very uncomfortable here.

“However, as unfortunate and fortunate as it is, Ankh-Morpork occupies something of a strategic point, and Amestries seems intent on going to war with everyone. So, I figure it's best to make allies wherever possible. And you attracted a lot of attention in the streets earlier. I'm sure there's an Amestries spy sending a message by now. “

That did not sound like a guess, though.

“I have...a request, so to speak,” the Patrician went on, “or rather...a trade. Ankh-Morpork produces things. We make weapons, for example. It would be bad if Amestries were to take over the city...Of course, the next in line of a nation they're something like allies with...or would want to go after...That would be a very useful bargaining piece...”

A pause, and several men in black made themselves known, from the shadows, just for a second, until they disappeared seamlessly again.

“Unfortunately the dungeons currently have a few mimes in them. So, I'm afraid I'll have to do something else...” the Patrician said, with just a hint of a smile.

“Galdwin wants to prevent the war. At least stop it. Ankh-Morpork doesn't want it either, and from what I know, neither does this person who's next in line for Alexandria. I am willing to lend a hand, in exchange that when you help make sure that Ankh-Morpork is not overrun. I'd rather not have to see the wizards fight those State Alchemists,” Havelock Veterni finished, “Though, I will have someone accompany you...Perhaps two. After all, I need to make sure.”

-Central: Ansem's House-

Galv blinked. It was...Allen's stomach?

“Umm...hi,” Galv said, “My name is Galv...this is Melanie.” He pointed over to Melanie.

“They are my guests. Staying for a few days,” Ansem said. Not a lie, “Galv is...the son of a good friend of mine. Melanie is a friend of Galv's.” Half a lie.

“Now come, there's plenty of food still left. And I know a good hotel, not far from here. I apologize, I don't have much more room,” Ansem continued.

Galv frowned a little. Something seemed odd about Cloud and Allen...

Melanie blinked. That noise....Was a stomach growl?

"It's okay, it's nice to know that it wasn't something scary..." Melanie said with a little smile.

"I'm sorry if Tim here caused any trouble. He tends to get into quite a few adventures on his own."

"He's rather cute" she added

-Ankh-Morpork-

Spork led the group into an underground cavern and Crystal frowned a bit. She didn't really like the idea of being underground but for now it would have to work....

"Who built all of these?" she asked quietly, looking around.

Allen snickered at Melanie's comment. Now that he could study the two new people, he definitely felt a "good vibe" from Galv, and knew that the boy was trustworthy almost by instinct. Melanie, on the other hand, didn't strike him as offensive either, and had an air about her much similar to his friend Crowley's. She might me "dark" in a sense, but it is not taint, just a shadow.

He almost chuckled at the memory, remembering how Lenalee spoke similarly of his own presence.

"Tim's been with me for a long time. Just don't try to inflate his ego too much, or he would become downright unbearable."

Tim, in response, opened up like a small pac-man with razor-sharp teeth... And bit down on Allen's ear, causing the boy's hand to fly up to grapple the offended appendage, yelping in pain.

"OW! Tim! That hurt!"

The golem almost seemed smug as it flew away from Allen, settling down on Melanie's head and watching the proceedings from there. Allen just sighed.

"Aww, don't be that way, Tim! I only meant it in the best possible way!"

The golem seemed to turn away in a huff... But then again lifted off the girl's head and returned t its previous perch in Allen's white locks. Allen just shook his head, muttering something about sentient golems... And his stomach let out another low growl.

"Ooooh, I can't take it anymore, I'm so hungryyyyyy... Thank you for your hospitality, Sir Ansem!"

And with that, Allen trudged away towards the kitchen with a rather zombified expression, disappearing behind the door.

[Central: Ansem’s House]

Cloud tensed up. Ansem seemed to have some type of dark power, and so did the small girl, Melanie. He also knew Allen had some strange power, but was not sure if it was dark or not. The boy, Galv, he did not sense any darkness from… but he did sense something.

“… It’s fine, Mister Ansem, I do not require your food or you room. However, I am looking for someplace in Central, and I would appreciate help finding it… if you can help me, perhaps I can return the favor somehow?”

[Ankh-Morpork]

Underground

Sama looked around the big underground room and he whistled. It was pretty cool – although considering they had used the underground to run from Amestris earlier, being beneath the earth was reminding him of his problems.

How long would the Avatar hide underground? Sama sighed, and pondered that very question.

“… Thanks for your help back there.” He added to Spork.

The Patrician’s Palace

Garnet frowned when the Patrician seemed to know who she was. She did not know how her lineage had become his knowledge, but she certainly hoped he had not told anyone. She also hoped he was not about to use that information against her.

She listened as he spoke. He was very political, and very matter-of-fact, and he spoke… a lot. She tried to follow as best as she could, but she was not very experienced in matters of state – Brahne always handled that. Still, Garnet would not let her noviceness in this area hold her back.

“… I am willing to lend a hand, in exchange that when you help make sure that Ankh-Morpork is not overrun. I'd rather not have to see the wizards fight those State Alchemists,”

Garnet frowned. It seemed he wanted Alexandria to agree to defend Ankh-Morpork in the event that it should be attacked. That raised several complications. For one thing, she was not sure it was wise to pledge her countries resources to defend Ankh-Morpork – it would leave Alexandria more vulnerable, and if Galdwin launched a massive attack…

No. Didymus would not be with her now if Galdwin intended to destroy Alexandria, would he? Then again, given the Paladin Order’s view on magic… she sighed. It was all very complicated.

There was another issue as well.

“… Before I could agree to your terms, I would have to actually assume the Throne of my nation. At this time, I do not have the power to officially agree to any sort of treaty between our two lands.”

Nothing she just said was untrue.

“… However, if Ankh-Morpork is willing to make a good faith gesture… perhaps by aiding us in reaching Treno… then I will remember what you and your city have done for me, when I am able to claim the throne in my home.”

Again, it was no actual promise, or a promise to make a promise.
