[Outside Ankh-Morpork]

Garnet was grateful to Steiner for having whisked her away from the train so quickly once the bad situation started, but she felt herself worried at the prospect of the soldiers having found them so quickly.

“Hurry, once we’re inside Ankh-Morpork we should be safe from the Amestrisians!” Garnet called to Didymus and Steiner, as she took off running towards the city gates.

“Whoa! Wait up!”

Zidane came sprinting up after the ground, Vivi running beside him as best as he could. The thief and the black mage had followed the others, and when they caught up with them, Zidane flashed a large grin.

“What did I say on the train? You guys will never make it in Ankh-Morpork on your own! Stick with the Z-man, and I’ll hook you up.” He gave a big thumbs up.

[Train to Ankh-Morpork]

Sama frowned once more – the soldiers were on the train. He looked out the door and noticed them, and he winced at the sight, and then looked back to Crystal and Garet.

“We’re in trouble… come on, let’s see if we can get off this train somehow!”

[Treno]

Yuna watched as Valefor appeared, and then looked over to Rikku and gave a small nod.

“Rikku… we may be attacked by both sides before this is over. I want you to know… if things get too bad, you do not have to stay.” Yuna did not want to see her cousin get hurt, no matter what oath she had taken back in Spira.

Valefor flew up into the air with a great cry, whipping up the wind around itself. It made a fly-by, buzzing the Alexandrian Fleet… it was a warning to turn away.

Train to Ankh Morpork

...Crud. The teen quickly grabbed his Pata, slashing a window as he barged through it, dashing off...he didn't know where exactly he was going...just someplace else.

Outside Ankh-Morpork

“Hurry, once we’re inside Ankh-Morpork we should be safe from the Amestrisians!”

Didymus and Steiner, as usual, were quickly flanking Garnet as she ran.

"Slow down, please, Dagger!" Didymus said. "We don't want to attract attention from the city watch. If we slip in calm and slowly like ordinary travelers, there's a smaller chance that we'll be picked out..."

"Why do you say "Dagger"?" Steiner asked.

"Oh, it's a cover name she adapted."

"Dagger...?" Steiner pondered. The name seemed strange even to him.

“What did I say on the train? You guys will never make it in Ankh-Morpork on your own! Stick with the Z-man, and I’ll hook you up.”

Didymus couldn't help but grin.

"You'd lead the princess to the city's criminal underworld, I'll bet!" Steiner cried. "She seems to want your presence, so I suppose I have no choice but to tolerate it...but I'll be watching you."

"Again, remember..." Didymus called. "...as I said before, if she starts having dreams about pilfering the Order's reliquary, you and I are probably gonna have problems." despite his words, his tone and the fact he was grinning indicated that he was teasing.

Even if those words were only PARTIALLY tongue-in-cheek.

Treno

Rikku shook her head, and spoke in an uncharacteristically somber voice for a moment.

"Yunie...Al Bhed don't abandon family. We've got few enough friends as is." she said, before smiling again.

"This'll be fine! No one can stop a summon...right?"

She was apparently unaware of the many instances in which such monsters WERE killed. XD

Meanwhile the fleet did not budge. Belleza looked over the city, still worried.

Guns were being trained on Valefore, but it was too fast for them. The ships did not move.

Meanwhile, some black mages began to gather on some of their decks. They didn't say anything.

A call was sounded-the Alexandrians didn't know where Yuna was, but they sounded out the call throughout the city.

"SUMMONER, RECALL YOUR CREATURE AND REPORT TO THE NEAREST GUARDHOUSE!"

Rikku paused.

"I...don't think they're gonna run, Yunie..." she said.

[Outside Ankh-Morpork]

Garnet did not slow down, despite the calls from her escorts. However, soon enough she was forced not only to slow, but to stop entirely.

She had reached the wall of Ankh-Morpork. They were not at the gate, however; they were at one of the large walls that kept people out! There did not appear to be any way into the city from their current position.

“… There has to be a gate somewhere! We have to find it…” Garnet stated the obvious, turning to the others and trying not to show how winded she was from the sprint.

Zidane just grinned. “Who needs the gate? We can just climb over the wall! I always bring a spare rope and some hooks.”

Garnet crossed her arms, and eyed him suspiciously. “CLIMB? Why would we climb, when we can just find a gate…”

The tailed-thief waved a finger at the princess. “Think about it! Ankh-Morpork might not be a part of Amestris, but those soldiers are clearly looking for us. If they see us slip in the gate, they’ll just invade the city and come after us… but if we slip over the wall, we’re free!”

There were some large holes in his logic, but Zidane seemed quite adamant about the idea.

[Treno]

Yuna closed her mismatched eyes and heaved a large sigh. After a moment, she opened them and looked to her cousin with a weary expression upon her brow.

“I… did not expect them to surrender. I am not naïve, the Alexandrian Air Fleet is infamous, and the soldiers of Alexandria are considered fearless. I had just wanted to avoid this so badly…”

Yuna gave a sigh. She hated violence, especially when it was coming from her Summons. She could call on forces beyond what human beings should be capable of commanding, and it was a responsibility she did not take lightly.

Valefor let loose a mighty screech, and then focused energy in its mouth. It fired a thin beam of red light towards the nearest Alexandrian airship.

“Think about it! Ankh-Morpork might not be a part of Amestris, but those soldiers are clearly looking for us. If they see us slip in the gate, they’ll just invade the city and come after us… but if we slip over the wall, we’re free!”

Didymus paused, seeming like he was giving that idea earnest consideration.

"...I'm afraid I must disagree with this notion." he said. "We don't know what's on the other side of that wall, and if we're seen climbing over, we will only attract more attention. Ankh-Morpork is not a part of Amestris, I'd think that THEY aren't looking for us. In fact, I'd think that the only reason Amestris' troops found us earlier is not because they were combing their trains and such for us, but rather because the roof was burned off-we simply attracted attention. Which is why, perhaps, we shouldn't anymore. If we slip in like ordinary travelers, we may be able to hide out in peace-whereas if we climb over this wall-we don't know what's on the other side, by the way, it could be a guard post for all we know-we risk attracting even MORE attention. Besides...this is but a stepping stone on the way to Treno. Hopefully, we'll be out before they even find us. And invasion shouldn't be a problem, should it?"

He paused.

"I don't want to trigger an invasion of a neutral city...but hopefully, they wouldn't invade on that. Just work with the city to find us...which they may do anyway if they're really looking for us, now that they've seen us on a train. However, again, we may just be overthinking this...either way, again, I suggest we simply bundle up and head in through a gate. Dagger?"

Treno

Rikku nodded, trying not to get too downed by the fact that...that, well, people were about to die.

Indeed, Valefore's attack caused the Alexandrian ship's hull to rupture-the center exploding and the ship being consumed in a massive fireball in the sky.

Belleza's eyes widened. The summoner could do THAT?

"Release the dragon." she said.

Her officer's eyes also widened.

"M-ma'am? We can't control it...what if-"

"I know the risks, but we face annilation at the hands of a summoner otherwise-to say NOTHING of the Galdwin's fleet. Do it!"

The call was sounded, and on one ship, a cage was opened. A beast emerged, roaring and growling-large and imposing, it looked about...a city...airships...a creature.

It saw the creature, deeming it a threat-a threat amongst many threats, it saw, but the most prominant it could see.

However, it was no ordinary dragon. Its claws were sharper, as were its teeth, its tail spiked and thick like a mace. Its scales were hard and pointed...

...head back, the

miasma dragon (ignore the term "archdemon" in the file name) let out a mighty roar, and spewed forth a sort of blackish-blue flame, before taking flight and diving at Valefore!

-Outside Amestries-

By the Wall

“Ankh-Morpork is usually very open to new people coming in...Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Amestries tried to take over them before...They tend to just sorta...absorb opposing forces,” Sora mentioned, “I'm sure if we get through the gate, we'll be okay. There's lots of places to hide.”

The Train

Garet frowned, then grinned, holding up the same black orb he had in the forest...

“Come on! It's dark outside! We'll escape and then use this to Cloak! We'll be invisible!” Garet said.

“Shimera...shoot, they'll see us if we escape...” Cess frowned. He turned, pointing to the golem, where it turned into dirt, being dispelled.

It might be a bit of a long shot, but it could work, maybe...

“Shimera, if the soldiers come, follow my lead, okay?” Cess said, turning to Shimera, hiding his wand.

Outside the Train

“Ahem!”

Approaching the Amestries soldiers would be three figures. One was very short, one was slightly above average, and the other was taller then both of the other two put together and then some.

The in larger figure's hands was...something. The best way to describe it would be a crossbow, except this weapon wasn't as accurate. It didn't have to be. Pulled the trigger and not only could you only hit the broad side of a barn, you'd destroy it and everything behind the broad side as well.

It was, essentially, a crossbow on steroids.

The middle height figure stepped towards the soldiers, not at all intimidated by them.

“My name is Samuel Vimes, Commander of the City Watch of Ankh-Morpork,” the figure said, glaring at the soldiers, “Just what are Amestries soldiers doing here on Ankh-Morpork soil? I could have you all arrested.”

The taller figure, once one could see light, seemed to be made of rock, with a strange helmet on his head. A troll...

Ankh-Morpork was an equal opportunity employer.

Fields

Sergeant Angua frowned. Whoever this other werewolf was, wasn't male. Probably meant it wasn't her brother coming to find her...

But still, werewolves without any sense of self were dangerous. Or possibly, in danger, around Ankh-Morpork...

She hurried towards where Kxs was...

Lab 5

"That woman was.....Well truthfully I have no clue what she was...Ugh. What kind of people can go through all of that and still survive....Without a scratch..."

Eva shuddered, now looking back to Ed and Al, both looking a bit worse for wear but alive....

"Too bad we couldn't just smoosh her...."

Ansem's House

“You should probably tell me what you know already about...about what you're trying to do.”

Melanie thought for a moment, taking a seat in front of him on the bed. The awkwardness would be forgotten for now, and replaced with excitement for the knowledge the girl had.

"I don't know tons but I do know some about it. I read once that you have to make sort of sacrifice in order to bring someone back from the dead. I think it's supposed to cost a large deal of blood, since that's what most of our magic is tied to. I want to do research so I can figure out what else is needed to do it. Blood is easy enough, since it's inside of you but the other stuff might be hard...."

Train to Ankh-Morpork

Crystal knew their luck couldn't have been that great.

Crystal mutted a curse under her breath, following Sama off of the train. They needed to get away before things got violent.

“Come on! It's dark outside! We'll escape and then use this to Cloak! We'll be invisible!”

"Sounds good to me!" she said quietly

“Wouldn't it take an awful lot of blood to bring someone back from the dead though?” Galv wondered, “Well, assuming it is possible.” He still didn't believe it could happen. “I mean, not like you can store it. I know you can make more after you've been wounded or what not...”

He frowned slightly, uncomfortable with some of the notions of this idea, “Unless you mean to use other people...”

For some reason he felt excited, but his own nervousness at the idea was overriding that at the moment. He couldn't picture the girl in front of him using other people like lambs to the slaughter.

“I mean...alchemists speak of equivalent exchange. Wouldn't a life cost, at the minimum, another life?” Galv wondered.

-Train-

“Alright you two, grab hold,” Garet said, holding out his hand, “We have to be in contact for it to work.”

Shimera nodded, standing beside Cess.

Outside Ankh-Morpork

As KxS sniffed around more, she found that this other werewolf was female. She seemed to smirk, knowing that now she had a chance to defeat, or possibly kill this other werewolf.

She then twitched her ears, hearing Angua run toward her. She snarled. At least this battle will be with someone with matched strength. Because just standing there would be boring, KxS ran toward Angua.

Ansem's House

“I mean...alchemists speak of equivalent exchange. Wouldn't a life cost, at the minimum, another life?”

Melanie never enjoyed speaking about this part of the process. While she had no problem offering her own blood for the cause she was disturbed with the thought that she would eventually have to kill someone to bring back her father.

This was the part her mother never spoke about around her, but she did remember fighting between her mother and brother about it before he decided to leave. Jason didn't see the point of bringing back a man that he despised so much, especially when it would cost a life to do so. Kanna wanted to bring him back at any cost.

Melanie remembered before Jason left he stopped her and told her that she should leave if Kanna gets to crazy about the idea...She had always wondered why he said that so urgently....

"It would take at least that..." She finally answered "But i'm hoping...." She paused for a moment, hoping he wouldn't over react. "...Well that I can just use me."

"...Well that I can just use me."

The first thought that went through Galv's head was, “No! You can't do that! I still haven't really gotten to know you...”

His second thought was, “Wait, wouldn't that kill me too?”

Galv took a deep breath, thinking carefully after Melanie told him her plan.

“...If...if your father was a good man, do you think that he'd want his daughter to give up her life for him? Wouldn't you think he'd rather you live a good life?” Galv asked Melanie. “And then if he's a bad man, why would you want to bring him back as it is?”

-Outside Ankh-Morpork-

Angua frowned...She was going after another werewolf...alone.

But she wouldn't ask anyone else to help her. Thankfully, a Captain Carrot was coming as well, having gotten past the wall now...

Angua didn't know that though, but kept hurrying. She wondered if could reason with this other werewolf...

The closer she got to Angua, the more she thought she could taste something...

[Outside Ankh-Morpork]

Garnet looked to Didymus, clearly considering his words. “He has a point. I don’t see any reason why we need to scale the walls… I don’t think we’re even being actively pursued, at least not yet.”

Zidane looked at the Paladin, and then at the Princess, and then he threw back his head and laughed very hard. “You guys really DO need me… oh man… listen, Ankh-Morpork isn’t your typical town… you guys are going to attract attention just by walking around.”

Zidane shrugged. “Well, whatever… I’ll find you inside!”

With that, Zidane jumped up and climbed over the wall!

Garnet just shook her head, and turned to the others. “Come on, let’s just get to the gate.”

[Treno]

Yuna gasped aloud, covering her mouth.

Valefor was a mighty summon, but now she faced a dragon for an enemy. Yuna was amazed to see a dragon utilized as a weapon of war… Alexandria was truly insane to use something like this!

Valefor shot forward, charging up a second Energy Beam to try to take down the Misasma Dragon – but whether or not it could…

Yuna clenched her summoning staff, hoping Valefor would be enough. She feared using a stronger summon…

[Laboratory Five]

Winry looked to Ed and Al, her eyes filled with thanks. She was glad to see her friends alive, but after a moment the immense relief was replaced with a different emotion.

“YOU IDIOTS!” Winry’s hand slapped across Ed’s face. She did not have a wrench at the moment (having used it to hijack the tank), and she could not hit Al – but she could knock Ed upside his head.

“W-Winry…” Ed stammered.

“Do you realize what almost happened? You and Al could have been killed! Eva and I, Mister Hughes… you two just blinding came to this place without even trying to find out if it could be dangerous! You NEVER think about anything Ed! UGH!”

Ed sighed, lowering his head. Al, however, spoke up.

“We should go… I don’t think we should stay here any longer.”

[Train to Ankh-Morpork]

Sama nodded to Garet. “Come on, if we make it to the city I’m sure we’ll be okay… I hope.”

Melanie gave a small smile, shrugging a bit. "Maybe, I don't really know since he passed away when I was just born. I don't actually think he had ever seen me, apparently he wasn't around a lot back then...."

She paused, thinking for a second "But I do know my mom loved him a lot. She does nothing but think about him and try to bring him back so it must be a good enough trade right?"

Laboratory Five

Ouch....That slap sounded painful.

Eva didn't know much about the relationship between Ed and Al and Winry but she could tell the blonde girl cared about her two friends.

And maybe the short one a little more than most.

"Yeah...Let's go...This place is giving me the creeps...Especially now."

Outside Ankh-Morpork

Didymus watched Zidane scramble over the wall.

"Hmm...I suddenly get a bad feeling about this..." he said.

“Come on, let’s just get to the gate.”

"As you wish, princess." Steiner said, glad Garnet was not enamored by the thief's logic.

"Ankh-Morpork is a strange city..." Didymus said. "...most people-including us, perhaps-attract attention-or at least would attract attention anywhere else-while in it...as for the gate...well, let's go..."

They quickly found the gate, and, I'd guess, were let in (Didymus with his brown overcloak on so as to not openly broadcast his being a Paladin).

"So here we are..." Didymus said. "...I suppose we'd best find a place for the night, and/or get a train ticket to Treno as soon as we're able."

Of course, if something may have happened at the gate, but I don't think Ankh-Morpork is where I'm the main "GM". XD

Treno

Rikku was in awe over the miasma-tainted dragon. She didn't admire it, but it certainly was an impressive sight (even if mainly in a scary way).

(Speaking of sight, for a display of the f the "miasma dragon" in action, and spoilers for Dragon Age end-of-game spoilers (WARNING), click here. I'd think it's bigger than Valefore, myself. GS? Fellow FF geeks? XD)

Indeed, to use a dragon as a weapon of war was risky, but to try using a dragon tainted by miasma...that was even more so, perhaps a proof of the corruption and insanity that was so prevalent in Brahne (and, it would seem, her husband).

The tainted dragon shot down at Valefore, roaring as it swooped, spewing its blackish-blue flames at her! They were not ordinary dragon-flames, though-the miasma loaned dark strength to them, as the dragon flew closer and tried to get to melee range with Valefore in the air, hoping to tear into her with its claws and teeth!

Central City, Amestis

Wherever they were (whether still at Lab 5 or at the military HQ or wherever), Hughes spoke to Mustang.

"So, do you want me to tell you how much trouble we're in now, or would you like some time to rest up and get a stiff drink ready first?" he asked, trying to work in some sarcastic humor into the situation.

[...]

Beatrix noticed she had dropped the stone...she looked back, debating whether to go back for it or not-she decided to.

This could prove problematic if someone else wanted it.

(I'm going to grab some dinner and will update the RPs as needed when I return.)
