Paladin Enclave

At Garnet's mention of gratefulness towards him, a tiny trace of a blush could possibly be seen on Didymus's cheeks, but addressing that point, he said:

"Well, you're welcome, of course, lady, but as a Paladin especially, well, I'd say to give Him-" he said, with a quick glance upward to communicate his point-"the glory, not I."

At the mention of "summoning powerful beasts" and Garnet's request, Didymus looked deep in thought for a moment.

"Lady Garnet..." he finally said. "...powerful beasts, you say? How did you get this...ability? Are you referring to a...magical skill? Because if so, I cannot help you in that regard. Not only is magic illegal in Galdwin, as I'm confident you are aware, but...well, you know the faith that I and every Paladin seek to keep. We believe that magic is wrong. Make no mistake, there were whispers, at least, that you practiced it...and still we decided to shelter you here...but if it is a magical ability you refer to...I'm afraid that I cannot help you in gaining it. And if there were any such person in Galdwin, which I doubt, that person would be a criminal that it may be our duty to pursue..." his voice trailed off.

This wasn't what he had hoped for. He did not want to alienate Garnet, or make her even more uncomfortable then she already was. But he spoke truthfully.

"Additionally, lady..." he said. "...if you got control over this power, what would you seek to do with it, if I may ask? Regardless of whether you believe that magic is right or wrong, you must ask yourself that question. And then ask yourself if you are ready to do that, and live with the results."

He sighed...then grinned sheepishly.

"If, however, it's not magical, than I could see what I could do. So, is there anything else you wanted? Directions? Additional library books? A tour of the Enclave? And as for what happened during the flight-" he began more confidently, trying to change the subject. "-well, did you know that it was actually my first assignment as a full-fledged Brother? I've done a number of things during my "apprenticeship", if you will, but I was ordained a Brother just days before they sent me to escort you here..."

He chuckled, sheepishly, and again an equally sheepish grin appeared on his face.

Alexandria:Evil Forest

The flowerspiders started running, scattering into the forest.

Alexandria City

Weimar looked back and forth between the tailed blonde boy and Sora, before answering Sora' question.

"Princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII has gone missing! We don't know where she is! And this is just perfect! War's stirring up between Galdwin and Amestris, the queen's been acting strange, and looking very different-but you didn't hear that from me-and all of that! Our only lead that I recall is that one of the princess's favorite cloaks is gone-so did she run away? Was she kidnapped?! I don't know! But the queen wants her found-and fast! You!" he turned to Zidane (yes, I know his name hasn't been mentioned yet, but I recognize him)-"Do YOU know anything about this?!" he asked.

Central City, Amestris

Sheska blinked, and spoke.

"Um, I just wanted to let lieutenant-colonel Hughes know that I've finished copying the pardon records." she said.

Hughes didn't take his eyes off Mustang, and quickly spoke.

"That's right." he said. "With this new war against Galdwin kicking off, the Fuhrer has handed out quite a few pardons-and guess who's got one of them? None other than the Zolf Kimblee, reinstated yesterday as the Crimson Alchemist. Strange times, huh?" he asked somewhat sarcastically.

Central City Tavern-Amestries

"This city never interested me..." An old, raspy voice murmured to himself.

It was the Nihlus, the black mage, sitting by his lonesome at the end of the bar. He slowly brought a mug of an ale of some type to where his lips should have been located, and sipped some of it before putting it back down.

"To my 20th year of traveling around the world." He said as well.

Many thought he was a creepy old man and sat at the other end of the bar, having conversation. But some could tell that this old, shady man radiated all sorts of energy and power. He continued drinking his glass of ale, wondering where he'd go next.

Maybe Galdwin. I haven't been there in awhile. I haven't been to Hyrule yet...Hmmm he thought to himself.

With that, he finished his drink and sat thinking to himself.

Paladin Enclave

Garnet looked down at her hands.

'How did you get this...ability?'

That question haunted her. She knew the answer, at least in some regard, but it was not something she thought it wise to share with many people. Still, she needed help, and it seemed that Didymus might be able to help. At least, she hoped so.

“... It's not magic. Not in the way your country – or mine – defines magic. It's... complicated to explain. The truth of the matter is, I was not born in Alexandria – nor am I the Queen's biological daughter.”

She paused and wondered if that confession would cost her. Would Galdwin still shelter her if Didymus told his bosses?

“Mother... The Queen found me when I was but a child. Very few people know that I am not her daughter by birth. The truth is, the first Princess Garnet died a few months before Mother found me. I was given Garnet's name, and made the Princess... and I love my mother dearly, although I am not related to her by blood.”

She shook her head. “I don't remember much of my life before the Castle... Doctor Tot told me that whatever happened to me must have been so traumatic I completely repressed those memories. Still... I did learn a few things. I was born in a village that no longer exists. It was a village of Summoners.”

She turned to look at him. “Summoners... they were human beings just like any other... but with one key difference... they were born with the ability to call forth great creatures to battle. It is not magic – although if one were to see it, they might say that it was... but magic is something you must learn. Summoning... is an ability I was born with.”

Garnet sighed. “However... as it stands, I cannot actually preform a summoning. I do not know why... from what I've read, it should be a natural thing... I should need only to concentrate... I fear that Mother may have done something to prevent me from being able to do so. That is why I must learn all I can about it. As for what I would do with such a power...”

She flushed a bit. “I... do not know. I haven't really thought about it... but... I believe my mother may have been trying to use my ability for war. I cannot let that happen... I cannot bear the thought of being responsible for death... if I could discover why I can't summon, and if I can regain that ability... then perhaps I can find a way to restore mother to the way she was... and if not, then I must... disappear, so she cannot use me for war.”

She paused, and then smiled a bit. “I'm sorry to unload all of this on you... since my mother's... change, she has not allowed me to see Doctor Tot, and I feel as if I have not had a friend to talk to in quite a while... perhaps I should take that tour now.”

Central City, Amestris

Mustang's eyes widened and he dropped a few very strong profanities. “Kimblee? That savage beast? He's a twisted murderer! Pardoning him is a mistake, but reinstating him!? Giving that man a uniform and authority is just asking for unnecessary death!”

Mustang shook his head once more. “Bradley's out of control... It's hard to stand around and watch him do these things. Something has to be done, soon.”

He suddenly rounded on Sheska, a very serious look on his face. “I'd like to see that list of pardons. Especially when it comes to War Criminals from the Ishbal Conflict, and Alchemists.”

Central City Tavern-Amestries

The doors swung open and a very odd pair stepped inside the Tavern. One was an extraordinarily tall man who seemed to be wearing a suit of heavy blue armor. Next to him was a far shorter man who wore a black shirt and pants beneath a red jacket. His hands were hidden in gloves.

The shorter man was certainly not old enough to drink, and it seemed odd he was in a tavern. The pair approached the bar, and quickly the bartender scoffed at the short, blond man.

“Forget it, kid. I don't sell to teens, too many military in here, I don't need that trouble.”

The blond crossed his arms. “I'm not here for a drink, old geezer! Besides -- I've got one of these.”

The boy held up a silver pocket watch, and instantly the bartender sweat dropped and waved his arms nervously.

“Oh, my! I didn't know! I'm sorry.”

“Whatever.” The short man shrugged.

“Brother!” The armored man, in a voice that sounded very much like a child, shook his arms and turned to the bartender. “Please, don't be offended! We've had a rough day!”

The blond shrugged and sat on a barstool, shaking his head. He really didn't care what the bartender had to say – he wasn't here for any social pleasure. He was here because his boss – who he would describe as a narcissistic, self-absorbed jerk who took some kind of twisted pleasure in seeing Edward suffer.

Ed Elric, a rather famous alchemist who had been state certified at age twelve, crossed his arms. “Man... when the hell is Mustang going to ease up with these stupid jobs and let us get back to our search?”

Alphonse, his younger brother, sighed silently. “Oh, brother...”

Alexandria City

Zidane the Thief raised a blond eyebrow, putting his hands behind his head and leaning back on his heels.

“Me? I haven't seen any Princesses around today – and if that Garnet is as pretty as the rumors say, I'd definitely remember seeing her.” Zidane smirked, always having to be as sarcastic as possible.

“Buuuut...” Zidane added with a grin. “I'd be happy to track your princess down for you... if the price is right.”

Paladin Enclave

Didymus pondered for a moment, reflecting on all that Garnet had said.

"Not Brahne's biological daughter?" he finally asked. He toyed with the notion of making a wise crack along the lines of That explains your looks., but decided against it.

"Interesting...but you are nonetheless heir to the Alexandros line. There is much we may not have known about you, lady, or perhaps the elders knew more about you than I did when they decided to bring you here, but either way...I am confident that this information would not make them suddenly opposed to your remaining here, even if it is unknown to them."

He paused, listening intently as Garnet described her biological heritage, and the summoners.

Interesting...but is a person born with such abilities truly "human"? he thought. Is not part of our humanity the inability to perform such things simply by nature of our bodies? Either way, such a race of people are still that-people.

"Respectfully, lady..." he said. "...I have heard of people being born with magic in their blood...but that's only what I've heard. It's just a false rumor, as far as I know."

Finally, Garnet came to her options.

"Lady Garnet." he said, when she mentioned "disappearing".

"Our order's enclave is a shielded place. No foe of any sort has EVER forced an entry into these blessed halls. Even if you were discovered, if it is safety you seek, this may be the best place in this world for you. Why else would we have brought you here rather than in Galdwin's capital or some conventional military stronghold? Here, you may take sanctuary in more ways than one." he said.

"And you can likely, in some way, help to offset the coming troubles." he continued. "Again, there are many you may consult for advice, and I would urge you, be strong. Do what you should. And if indeed your summoning is not magical, but biological, than it should be alright if I aid you with it."

At Garnet's final collection of statements (the final paragraph she's speaking in GS's post), he smiled back at Garnet.

"Thank you, lady." he said. "But actually, it is an honor to have your trust like this-as I now know a secret of Alexandria's government that many of its own officials don't, I would guess-and it is a pleasure to bend an ear to what you have to say. And if you need a tour while contemplating your next course of action, then..." he said, gesturing, "...come with me."

Central City, Amestris

Sheska flinched a bit when an agitated Mustang spun towards her, and with a small
"Ye-yes sir.", she handed him the list.

In addition to Kimblee's name, it contained the names of numerous other soldiers and alchemists, complete with their reinstated ranks and new military assignments. If they had a record of high combat performance, they were on the list-no matter how heinous their war crimes.

Alexandria City

Weimar nodded, looking to Sora, Kairi, and Zidane, and spoke.

"Well, if you want more information, go to the castle and ask to speak to captain Steiner about it. Now, I've got to get back to my rounds." he said, and then walked off into the crowd, yelling out questions about anyone having seen Garnet.

somewhere in Southern Amestris

A man was making his way in a city called "Altair". He approached a rather large building, which seemed to be some sort of club, and he was let inside, coming to a door with a guard, he whispered something.

"Wild rose."

The guard, who was in what appeared to be a sort of uniform, but not one from Amestris, or even Galdwin or Alexandria (let alone Hyrule or Baldar), stepped aside and let him in.

In the lower floors, a staircase to which the man now made his way down, was an operation of considerable interest to the Amestris State Military.

Namely because, although within its borders, it wasn't its own.

Armed guards in the same uniform as the man standing at the door above stood at the doors, and people bustled through and fro.

Past one door with a double guard was a throne room. There were two thrones inside it, but one was empty, the other was occupied by a blond-haired woman. Before her stood a trio of people, one of whom was a darker-haired young woman who spoke, seemingly in reply to a question.

"The State raided our village not far...we didn't even know if there were resistance members there...but our parents...our parents..." she said, her voice trailing off.

The woman upon the throne raised a hand and spoke.

"I see..." she said, and addressing a guard in the room, said "...give them proper quarters."

The three before her left with that guard, and a man wearing some white robes-not Paladin robes, though-who had been standing next to the seating woman, spoke.

"Not moved at all?" he asked.

"Of course I am." she said. "But I've seen so many of these cases, I am used to it by now. Besides, I cannot afford to let my emotions take hold of me now-not with my own father gone and our cause so dire." she said.

"We stand on the edge of a knife, Minwu." she continued."Even so many years after the eastern rebellion...we haven't recovered. Amestris continues to hunt us down..."

The man beside her quickly spoke after her.
"But queen...Amestris's new war against Galdwin promises something."

"True..." the seated woman replied. "With Amestris's army tied up elsewhere, we may be able to expand our own operations. Maybe. But the fact remains, Amestris is tightening its noose. Soon, the Wild Rose may consumed by Amestris's beast once and for all...but regardless, we persevere, and our operation continues. I was already briefed on our next taking of a train bound for the Amestris's central region." she finally said, and sighed.

The old dark mage smiled as the alchemists walked in. He got up out of his stool, and sat next to them.

"Well, hello there. You two fancy a drink? Lon lon milk, perhaps?" He said, trying to start a conversation.

"Get me a refill." Nihlus said to the bartender, who scooped up his glass and filled it with ale.

He took a sip, and turned to the two children.

"So, what brings you two young ones here?" He continued.

Thieves Den

Deep with the Alexandrian forest was a large fortress named the Thieves Den. It was made out of stone blocks and some wood. Around it was a moat, filled with scum. The alligator that used to reside in it died, so the moat was pretty useless now.

There was an outer wall, and the fortress itself within. In the very middle, a large tower rose up above the forest canopy.

The fortress used to be an important stronghold for Alexandria, until it was abandoned because it was too dangerous to be in the forest. Then, the Thieves of Alexandria took up residence. The fortress was still armed with cannons, bombs, and all sorts of ammunition.

Inside, three men stood, talking while everyone else inside went about their own business.

"So, you heard an old coot talking about a 'keyblade.'" Heughes said.

"Well, yes sir." One of two cloaked spies said.

"And this keyblade opens up anything?" Heughes continued.

"Of course, sir." The other of two replied.

"Hmm...did you hear where he was going?" Heughes said.

"Erm...no." One mumbled below his breath.

Heughes nodded. "Head to the city. Disguise yourselves. Find where this keyblade is, send word back, and we'll be ready."

The two nodded, and ran off.

Central City Amestris - Tavern

Ed raised an eyebrow to the old mage and scoffed a bit. Al quickly sweatdropped and waved his arms, trying to present a better image than his usually-rude brother.

"I hate milk." Ed grumbled, resting his head against his hand.

"That's why you're so small, brother..."

"WHO ARE YOU CALLING A BEAN-SPROUT MIDGET!?" Ed shouted back, so loudly that everyone in the bar could hear him -- many turned and raised eyebrows.

Al gave a small sigh and shrugged, turning to Nihlus. "My brother appreciates your offer, though..."

"Aw, Al, what are you doing? Don't make friends with the creepy old guys." Ed, never the shy brother, complained.

"Edward, stop being rude!"

Central City, Amestris - Mustang's Office

Mustang paused, noticing Sheska's flinch. He gave a small cough and headed back towards his desk -- until he caught the bronze eyes of a blond woman who stood not far away.

She was glaring at him.

Mustang sweat dropped and cleared his throat. "Forgive me, Sheska. I'm under a lot of stress... and the news that Bradley would allow these murderous scumbags back into our ranks..."

He trailed off as Hawkeye once again glanced his way, although this time with a more sympathetic set of eyes.

Mustang sat behind his desk, putting his feet up on a pile of important papers and looking at the list in his hands.

"... I suppose it's not good that I recognize so many of these names, eh Hughes?" Mustang mused. The truth was, behind his arrogant and always-smooth facade, Mustang was a tortured soul. There were nights he wondered why he wasn't incarcerated with the men on that list.

"... No," Mustang suddenly said loudly, as if talking to himself more than his supporters. "Now is no time to dwell on this news. This is only one further reason why this country needs sure leadership! This should only strengthen our resolve! Let the flames of your hearts burn brightly, we shall live to see a new dawn on Amestris... we shall see a new Fuhrer and a new way!"

Alexandria City

Never one to be told anything twice, Zidane nodded to the others and then gave a large grin.

"Alright, I'll go talk to Knighty's boss... might as well find this Princess!"

Zidane grinned, almost as if he had something up his sleeves, and then he headed towards...

Alexandria Castle

Zidane arrived at the castle, looking very suspicious, and started searching for the Captain of the Knights of Pluto.

Paladin Enclave

Garnet shook her head and gave a small, sad smile to Didymus.

"... I'm afraid this place is not as safe as you think. My mother... she is up to something, I know it... I don't know the details, but I have heard her speak to others... she seems completely confident that she has found a way to conqueror the other nations."

She shook her head. "I must attain the summons. If I can unlock whatever it is that was done to me... if I can once again call on them... then I can stop this war from progressing... but it must be done sooner than later. Whatever my mother has planned, she will not stop until she has --"

"Please do not worry yourself to death, Princess."

The door had opened and a white-haired man with a beard and mustache had appeared. He wore armor beneath an old brown cloak -- but despite a somewhat shaggy appearance, he was a well-respected Paladin -- Sir Cidolfus Orlandu.

"I would ask you forgive me for eavesdropping, Princess Garnet, but it seems it is a good thing that I did."

Cid leaned against the wall somewhat casually, crossing his arms. "I... know of the summons you speak of."

"Y-You do?" Garnet seemed shocked; for the summoning was something only her mother and Doctor Tot had ever spoken of before. Then again, she had led a sheltered life...

"Indeed. In my youth, I saw the summoner's village... of course, this was long, long ago." Cid gave a small chuckle. "... I do not know if what they did was magic or not... but, I don't think it coincidence that you are here now."

Cid gave a small chuckle. "We shall help you, Princess. I doubt very much my fellow Elders would oppose your request, especially since it may be the key to ending this bloodshed. If circumstance would allow it -- and were I a few yew younger -- I would escort you myself."

The aged Paladin gave another chuckle. "As it is, I have far too many duties here... Alas, the burden of responsibility..."

He then turned to Didymus. "So, I'd send you along with the Princess, Brother Didymus. While I could find a Paladin with more experience in combat, or infiltration, you alone have earned the trust of Princess Garnet, and that will be far more important than anything else."

Cid nodded, and then clapped Didymus on the back. "I daresay it will be a grand adventure! Perhaps greater than any I have ever experienced! May your faith guide you, Brother, and may your sword and your shield protect the Lady on her quest. Although Alexandria is our enemy today, one day she will be their Queen, and when that comes, perhaps we shall at last have peace..."

He gave a jovial laugh this time instead of a chuckle. It seemed that Cid had high hopes.

"Lady Garnet! Godspeed and Good luck!"

Cid then disappeared from the doorway, walking quickly down the hall. He had to go figure out some way to inform his fellow Elders that he had just authorized the Princess they had invested so much in rescuing and protecting to leave, aided by only a single, inexperienced Paladin, to go on a dangerous quest right to through the heart of the war zone.

Paladin Enclave

Didymus was going to speak, reply to Garnet again, but suddenly, Cid appeared, said a large amount of things in a short time, clapped him on the back, and walked off laughing before he could even speak.

"...uhhhhhhhhhhhh...."

That was the first thing Didymus "said" after Cid left, but then, well, he grinned, chuckled, and even laughed a bit, before turning with a smile to Garnet.

"Well, you're going somewhere? To this village, I suppose? And the elders want me to accompany you? Well, in that case, I suppose, we need to ask: will you accept my company and whatever protection, tribulation, and all the things that would go with it?" he asked her.

Meanwhile, as Cid walked, he encountered a fellow elder. He was green-eyed, clad in the white robes that were typical Paladin garb, and walked with a cane. But he was known to often discard that in the battles he fought in, and he was well-known and respected, as well. He was elder Galahad.

"Ah, Cid!" he said, when he saw him. "Just coming from our guest's quarters, I presume? Tell me, how is she holding up? And how is she getting along with brother Didymus?" he asked.

Central City, Amestris-Mustang's office

When Roy talked about seeing "a new Fuhrer", Hughes tensed up. Why?

Because Sheska was in the room. And his fears were confirmed when she spoke up.

"A new Fuhrer, sir?" she asked, timidly. "Can...can I ask what you're talking about? Um, if it's alright...sir." she said.

Alexandria Castle

Steiner was pacing back and forth, poring over what few leads that he had, when suddenly, he saw someone. Someone suspicious. With a...tail.

He ran up, shouting:

"YOU!" he yelled. "State your busniess!"

It's not that he would normally be so angry. It's just that Garnet was missing, and he was very stressed.

I can't see what you're imagining
-Alexandria: Evil Forests-

“The name’s Cess,” the white skinned man said, twirling his bone wand idly, then placing it into a bag. His golem returned to the earth, and the possessed dead spider simply sagged, dead.

“Necromancer,” he added, with a bow, “Here to help!”

Xehanort watched him carefully…

-Alexandria City-

“Oh, wow!” Sora said, hearing what was happening, “Man, that’s not good…”

Missing princess? Why did that seem vaguely familiar to Sora?

Shaking off metaphorical bits of the fourth wall, he watched Zidane run off, then turned to Kairi.

“What do you think? Should we see about helping?” Sora wondered.

“Of course! These people are in trouble,” Kairi nodded. Sora grinned, then followed after Zidane, also heading to the castle.

-Amestries-

“What?! That’s not alchemy!”

A large young man with spikey red hair was arguing with a elder man, who had alchemy made pots for sale on the street.

The young man was thoroughly lost. After an accident at sea, and wandering throughout this strange land, Garet of Vale had found himself in Amestries, and now, arguing with a man over what alchemy was.

“Of course it is,” the older man huffed, “Watch!”

Pulling out a small piece of chalk, the man scribbled a circle, then placed his hand on the ground. In a flash of energy, another pot was created.

“See?” the older man said, waving the pot in Garet’s face.

“No…That’s…Something else!” Garet argued, not sure then what it would be. HE used alchemy…and that was elemental powers, moving objects, psynergy!…right?

“Watch…” Garet said, taking a stance.

Rings of Psynergy washed over him, invisible to everyone but an Adept.

A hand appeared in front of him, also invisible to all those but Adepts. It selected a larger pot, and, slowly, the pot moved to the side, until Garet released the Move.

“See?” Garet answered, as the older man just stared in shock…

Alexandria Castle

Zidane raised an eyebrow. No sooner had he arrived at Alexandria Castle, than had a large, wild-eyed shouting maniac in old, rusty armor run up to him and ordered him to get lost. Or maybe he'd yelled 'halt'... Zidane was so used to things like this he never paid full attention.

Putting his hands behind his head casually and leaning back on the heels of his feet, Zidane looked the knight up and down.

"Eh? Who are you?" Zidane asked. He tilted his head, and then he realized the obvious solution.

"Oh, wait, I see.... loud voice, patrolling the front door, rusty armor... you must be the front gate guard!" Zidane concluded. He never would have assumed Steiner would be a Captain.

"Listen Rusty," Zidane shook his head. "I need to talk to the Queen. I'm going to rescue your princess for you!"

Central City, Amestris-Mustang's office

Mustang looked over to Sheska. He liked the former librarian well enough, and she was a friend of the Elric Brothers... but she had no real military training, and if Bradley's goons got to her, he could not count on her not to talk.

"... Wishful thinking, that's all, Sheska." Mustang shrugged his shoulders.

"Actually, Colonel Mustang here plans to be Fuhrer one day."

Mustang's face lost all color; and his usually cool demeanor melted as quickly as, well, everything else did around him.

Fuhrer King Bradley was standing in the doorway. His arrival had been so quiet and so sudden that no one had realized he was there.

"Sir!" Mustang stood up at once and saluted.

Bradley gave a little chuckle. He had a large smile on his face and his one visible eye was closed. He held up one hand in a friendly wave to tell the soldiers they could be at ease.

"Come now, Mustang, it's perfectly alright for a soldier to have ambition." Bradley said with the same smirk on his face. "I'm fully aware of your plans to become Fuhrer."

Although Bradley spoke in such a friendly way, Roy could feel the chill lingering in those words. Bradley was giving him a message; he knew Roy sought to overthrow him.

"Sir..." Roy began.

"No explanation needed." Bradley waved him off. "I just thought I'd stop by after my speech... I do so enjoy our little chats."

He turned to Sheska. "Ah, a pleasure to meet you. If you're a friend of the Flame Alchemist, you must be a real up and comer. I'll be sure to keep an eye on you!"

Once more, Bradley spoke like any commander, trying to motivate Sheska -- but the truth in his words was far more sinister. He looked over at Hughes and Hawkeye. "Always nice to see Colonel Mustang's favorites... have a good day now."

Bradley walked out the door and vanished... and as soon as he was gone, Roy let the profanity fly.

This had been a message... masked as carefully as the truth had been hidden in his earlier speech. Behind all the lies and the happy-man facade, the truth was sinister: Bradley was so unafraid of Roy's plans he could joke about them, and he could easily get to everyone who supported the Flame Alchemist.

Paladin Enclave

Garnet gave a small smile. She was grateful to Cid for what he had just said and done... it gave her a small bit of confidence that she could pull off her plans. Yet, in secret, behind the smile, her heart grew a bit heavier... it seemed Galdwin had placed a lot of hope on her being able to cease Alexandria's war against them... and she certainly hoped she could live up to that.

"I would certainly accept your help." Garnet said to Didymus. "Well, then! We'll find the Summoner's Village!"

Garnet's smile faded as she bit her lip. "There... is one small problem. The location of the Summoner's Village is all but lost to history... Doctor Tot told me of some books that talked about the Summoners, but... the only copies are in Alexandria's Royal Library, and the Central Alchemist Library... and we wouldn't be very welcome in either one."

Alexandria Castle

Steiner...well, fumed would be perhaps too mild of a word for it.

"RUSTY!!! YOU CAN SEE YOUR REFLECTION IN THIS ARMOR!!! FRONT GATE GUARD!!! I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW, I'M ADELBERT STEINER, CAPTAIN OF THE KNIGHTS OF PLUTO!!!" shouted.

Then, taking a deep breath, he spoke again, more calmly, but clearly still agitated.

"Find the princess...if you can truly help, I will see if the queen will have an audience with you...wait here." he said, and hurried off to the castle's throne room.

Once inside, he knelt, and addressed Brahne.

"Your majesty..." he said. "...there is a rather odd-looking boy out front...he has a...tail, but he says he wants to help find the princess...and requests to see you."

Of course, he had, in his haste, rushed off and left Zidane unattended for the moment...he was that emotionally distracted.

Central City, Amestris-Mustang's office

For a moment, Sheska was on the metaphorical cloud nine. She was a nerdy bookworm who was often made fun of, then she found a job with the military and was complimented (or so she thought) by the fuhrer himself!

"Th-thank you, sir!" she called back, after he was leaving.

Hughes saluted, and also thanked Bradley for his comments, but he, too, suspected that there was a hidden meaning behind his words.

Then came Mustang's profanity binge.

Sheska was totally shocked, and Hughes facepalmed.

Sheska, shaking, said:

"S-s-sir...the fuhrer j-just complimented us...and made a point to visit us...isn't that a g-good thing?" she asked, but she was trembling.

Hughes tried to recover the situation.

"Uhh, Sheska, it's just that usually, when the fuhrer takes notice of someone when a war breaks out, it means that they're going to the front, and the colonel just likes it here, that's all! He's really grown fond of this place, and he'd hate to leave this for a dirty command tent that could get shelled anytime! And he's been under a lot of stress lately, what with all the paperwork flying around! Heck, you should know, seeing how busy I keep you!"

He let out some laughter, which was an attempt to release his anxiety, and try to lighten up the mood. Or at least, keep Sheska from suspecting anything.

Paladin Enclave

Didymus kept smiling when Garnet accepted his accompanying her, but his look turned to a thoughtful one when Garnet mentioned their destinations.

"Hmm..." he said. "...indeed, our library probably doesn't contain such a book...either option presents danger in its own way...I would imagine that you would be welcome enough in Alexandria's library, lady, but as for me...well, I'll have to travel incognito, and I'm guessing you intend to as well. As I have been tasked with protecting you, I suppose I'll ask: where do you intend to go to find out? Like I said, either option has its dangers, and its merits, I suppose..."

GRAPPLING HOOK!

Resembool-Amestris

It was a warm day, perfect weather for a light stroll across the valley, down the dusty dirt roads leading to Resembool. Despite this favorable weather Eva Wei was not walking, instead with a loud roar she zoomed through the roads on a strange metal contraption. It was some sort of scooter, a small but loud mode of transportation that Eva had made all by herself. It was an impressive feat for a girl of only 15 years, and it was her personal pride and joy.

With a grin the girl passed a group of people walking down the same road, all of them looking at the strange girl with wide eyes. Instantly they were consumed in a cloud of dust from the ground, and with a cough one of them spoke. Eva barely caught it.

"Hey! Boy SLOW DOWN!"

Eva rolled her eyes, after all she had heard that one so many times before. It was not strange for people to mistaken her for a boy. With the piercings and tattoos she even fooled herself sometimes. She didn't mind though, being a tomboy meant she didn't have to care about a smudge of grease on her cheek, or a black eye after a fight. Real mechanics couldn't be too girly anyways!

Eva made a sharp turn, heading to a nice sized home in the small town. She was looking for another girl, her name was supposedly Winry, who was an impressive mechanic as well. Eva was looking for some way to quiet down the engine in her scooter, she had tried everything without luck. Slowly she pressed her foot on the brake as she reached the house and the scooter gave another loud and annoyed groan. Eva sighed, it always sounded like her creation was going to crumble....It was really annoying after all the time she had spent working on it.

Central City Amestries Tavern
(If you still need a place for Sama to be he can be here if you want)

"Ummm can I get something sweet? Not too strong, nothing hard, Ummmm peach flavored maybe? Actually anything fruity would be nice!"

A young woman sat at a table, looking over what looked like a list of drinks and Ales, nothing like what she was describing. She didn't seem to mind the strange looks she was getting for her order, instead she was all smiles, as she looked over the menu once more.

With a sigh the man taking her order walked off and the girl, Crystal frowned slightly.

"Well that's not very nice of him" she said to herself and looking back to the water she already had. Slowly she brought her hand up and twirled the liquid in it's cup, bending the water with ease.

"Well, pleased to meet you, Cess!" Shimera said, descending to the earth. "My name in Shimera!"

She completely forgot about the keyblade...
