Didymus quickly hopped up again, mounting the chocobo behind Garnet.

"Where we go now is your choice, lady-uh, Dagger." he said, and did what he could to ready himself for...for whatever Garnet wished to do. Most likely charge into a crash site overrun with Amestris soldiers, but MAYBE not...

...either way, it was her choice.

Crash site

Stenier was still jumping up and down.

"PLEASE STOP! I MEAN NO HARM! I MUST SEE IF THERE ARE ANY SURVIVORS AT THE RED ROSE!!!!" he continued to shout-he hadn't even NOTICED Bradley yet.

Tucker residence

Kimblee hated to give ground to an Ishbalan, but...he stepped back. After his fight in the streets, he was beaten, bruised, and had lost some blood. He wanted to heal up before taking on another opponent...he kept backing up...

Hyrule Castle

Zelda paused.

"Indeed, the situation is dire. Deedlit...yes, I believe she may be needed in this hour...I suppose we have little reason not to trust her companion...but I would think that these events cannot be mere coincidence. There must be something behind them. That is what I would wish you to find. I would think that you should confront Gannondorf, and that Deedlit may be better suited against Vaati...but more important is investigating this problem. Discovering what is at its heart. To that end, both Gannondorf and Vaati seemed to express interest in that boy-" she said, pointing to Roxas.

"...and considering what he has shown, I believe I can see why..." she said.

“Oh ho ho ho...Fuhrer Bradley is here...Interesting...I wonder if the rumors are true...” Master Xehanort smirked.

“There is much chaos...we must get the key before it is to late,” Xehanort spoke to his group.

Cess frowned. He saw something in Xehanort's eyes. The type of maniacal glee he had seen before.

Cess was a necromancer. While he was one of the very rare, maybe even one of a kind, type where they did not attempt to bring people back to life, he was still very familiar with the other kind.

“...” Cess held up his wand, and focused, magical energies circling around him.

Suddenly, stone golems appeared from the ground, all around Sora, attempting to grab him!

“What the?!” Sora yelled, spinning around and slashing at the golems, his Keyblade appearing in a flash.

He jumped backwards, Kairi doing the same.

“Blizzard!” Sora yelled, firing the ice spell at the golems...

And Xehanort was smiling...

-Hyrule Castle-

“My name is Namine...I am...a half elf...Half human,” Namine said, curtsying to Link, “Thank you very kindly for your assistance.”

Roxas/Chaos breathed heavily, the blackness around him slowly disappearing.

“I am...Roxas...I'm...a monster,” the homunculi answered, staying honest.

-Forest-

“Let's wait until the thick of night, and sneak in!” Garet said, “Man, where is it...Do I even have it?”

Garet rifled through his pockets, then smiled, holding up a black orb.

“Ahah! The Cloak Orb! With this, we can hide ourselves!...I'm not sure if it'll work with non Adepts, but it's worth a shot,” Garet grinned.

"Alright men! Move out!" Fefnir shouted.

Silas took out his clubs and shouted "I can't get in close enough!"

Levithan nodded. "Leave it too me!" He launched an arrow from his bow. It wouldn't kill but would leave a normal person unconscious if it hit.

Savanya stood beside Xehanhort, but had an odd feeling about this man...

Forest

Not far ahead of the group traveling was the black mage, Nihlus, who sat on a tree stump sipping a cup of tea.

"Hmmm..." He nodded, smiling. "With this to invigorate me...I'm sure I'll make through this forest."

Garnet shook her head. Everything was becoming worse than she ever imagined. At this moment, all she could think about was finding her mother… finding out if Queen Brahne was now dead because of what had happened.

Kicking the chocobo in the side, Dagger sped off towards the crash site…

Crash Site

The soldiers shooting at Steiner DID stop. It was not because of his screams, though; it was because Bradley had held up a hand indicating that they should not shoot.

“… You are a Knight of Alexandria, are you not?”

Bradley stepped into Steiner’s path, so that the loud knight would have to see him – or run directly into him. The Fuhrer held a sword in one hand and his clothes bore scorch marks.

Bradley was conflicted. This was a bad situation to be in. He could not afford to reveal himself at the moment… well, he could, but it would mean many of his soldiers would have to… disappear.

Tucker Residence

Scar watched as Kimblee started to back up. The Ishbalan was not about to let a State Alchemist slip away. He could see the blood on Kimblee’s clothes, and he knew he could win this fight.

Scar started forward, moving at Kimblee, ready to murder the man…

And then the ground flashed with a blue light an a statue appeared in Scar’s path. It had a very round head and a familiar looking ponytail.

“Well now, what do we have here Al? A couple of hoodlums fighting at the scene of a murder… I bet anything they’re the killers!”

In the doorway stood a diminutive blond teenager in a red jacket, and a gigantic suit of armor, that presumably contained a man inside.

“Brother… one of them is wearing a State uniform…” Alphonse pointed out, noticing Kimblee’s clothes.

“Huh?” Edward took note too. “Oh, I guess you’re right Al… well… Neither of you move! Until I figure out what happened here, you’re both under arrest!”

Alice sighed in his girly voice. “Brother…”

[Hyrule Castle]

Link looked to Roxas and Namine. He still wore his Shekiahn mask, but was not speaking. Big shocker, there.

Miya flew over and looked at the two, and then back to Zelda. It seemed they had some role in what was happening in hyrule.

“A monster? Hmm… maybe you are, maybe you aren’t; what I want to know is what’s your business in Hyrule!” Miya asked.

[Forest]

Sama looked over to Garet and wondered about the orb. He grinned a bit at the sight, though.

“Well, now! That seems like a handy little toy! We might as well give it a try.”

He paused. “… I really need to get a flying buffalo.”

Steiner stopped.

"Yes, I am...Capta-" he recognized the man before him. He was aware of many of the states and politics on the continent and would have been able to distinguish Brahne, Garnet, Elder Galahad, the Galdwinian president, or many of Amestris' leaders (and more) out of a crowd.

"Y-Your excellency..." he said. He did recognize him, but saw Bradley as...dishonorable. He knew how Amestis had gradually become so powerful-through conquest. Bradley seemed to be one who only FURTHERED that. The Benders, the Ishbal massacre...Steiner saw Bradley as a dishonorable leader, indeed.

That did not mean he would treat him without proper courtesies. He was representing Alexandria and the Knights of Pluto!

"I AM a knight of Alexandira. Captain Adelbert Steiner, at your service."

He made a sweeping bow motion.

"I am terribly sorry about what has happened here...but please, I MUST see who is there aboard the Red Rose..." he said.

Meanwhile, Didymus and Garnet were arriving near the crash site...

"Dagger..." Didymus said. "...I feel...uneasy...like when...when Bradley attacked us..." he warned.

Suddenly, before them, though, in a street, stood a dark-haired woman (or so she looked) with a black dress. Next to her, it appeared, was a strange-looking, fatter one.

The "woman", stood in the chocobo's path.

"Why the rush, princess?" she called to them.

"Those are not humans..." Didymus said, face earnest.

Tucker residence

Kimblee stopped.

Fullmetal? he thought. Yes, he had heard of the famous (or infamous) Edward Elric. Who in Central City hadn't?

"Fullmetal, I'm a State Alchemist like you. This man is clearly the killer...at least, probably." he said, pointing at the Ishbalan, and going on.

"He's an Ishbalian, who talked about sin and purging and all sorts of things like that. This is the house of a murdered State Alchemist, Shou Tucker. I think that should be all the evidence you need to figure out what happened here." he said.

He figured that those fit for survival could persuade allies to fight alongside them...

Bradley looked to Steiner for a moment. He had seen the man before. Steiner was tasked with guarding the Princess of Alexandria, and on one of his meetings with Brahne, he had seen Steiner.

“If you are searching for Queen Brahne, she is safe, I assure you.” Bradley spoke calmly and casually. For a man guilty of multiple acts of genocide, Bradley knew how to be calm, cool and collect at all times.

“Your Queen and a Knight called Beatrix were able to escape before the crash, using the teleportation of the Black Mages. I had them taken to Central Command for safe keeping.”

The Fuhrer’s face soured a bit. “Princess Garnet is here as well. Queen Brahne told me she has been kidnapped by a wretched spy from Galdwin, who has brainwashed her. It is imperative that she be saved from this corrupt Paladin. I assure you, Brahne is perfectly safe – finding Garnet is most important.”

Bradley was not lying about everything he said. Brahne and Beatrix were safe, at Central.

[…]

Garnet paused, seeing the woman and her fat friend. She had no idea what they were, but she could tell they were not human.

“Move out of my way! We have to go!” Dagger was too emotional to even care that Lust seemed to know who she was. She just wanted to find her mother.

Tucker Residence

Edward did not recognize Kimblee by sight; though if he had known who the Crimson Alchemist was, he probably would have considered him a bigger threat than Scar.

“I don’t care who either of you are! For all I know, you stole that uniform, so unless you’ve got a watch, I expect you both face down on the floor, now!”

Scar did not comply. He shot at Fullmetal and tried to squeeze his head; but Ed was too fast and dodged. The blond clapped his hands together and as Scar came in for a second attack, Ed moved one hand over the other and his metal hand grew a mighty blade.

A blade that tore into Scar’s stomach.

“Ah!” Scar jumped back, noticing Edward’s arm. “You… You are…”

He grabbed something (a dish or a book) from a table and threw it at Al; Al’s helmet came off, revealing that he was empty. Scar’s eyes widened.

“… I see. The Alchemist who committed the greatest sin of all. Fullmetal… we shall meet again.”

Scar turned and ran. Ed tried to create a roadblock of stone from the floor to block Scar’s escape, but Scar destroyed it easily and vanished.

“Damn it!” Ed shouted.

Steiner hesitated.

"Corrupt Paladin...?"

Paladins. He held great respect for them. They were, he believed, shining bastions of chivalry and virtue and all of the things that knights were SUPPOSED to be. In fact, he knew the Order even had ROOTS in the now-more-or-less-gone-or-ceremonial Galdwinian knighthood!

Besides, he didn't trust Bradley completely.

"Is that my queen's command...? Please, I must hear for myself! Or...if you know where the princess is...I will find her..." he said.

He doubted that Paladins would brainwash his princess. He wanted to see for himself.

[...]

Lust grinned.

"Relax." she said. "Your mother? I'd be more concerned about myself if I were you. Haven't you seen the way he looks at you? Why DO you trust him so much, anyway?"

Didymus was glaring at this "woman". He was fingering his sword.

"In His name, creature, be you go-"

"-you see?" Lust continued, interrupting. "You know what he feels, don't you, princess? Hasn't he tried to bring you close, to draw near to you, hiding behind the trappings of his Order and faith on one hand? When someone challenges him, he simply spews his religious dogma at the challenger-"

"Dagger..." Didymus said. "...if I get off the chocobo to confront these creatures more directly, will you wait until they are exorcised, or at least gone from here?"

"If he were truly a man of faith, wouldn't he do so either way?" Lust pressed.

"My task is to guard her." Didymus replied. "As for YOU, creature-"

"Hear the contempt he speaks with?" Lust asks. "Does he not speak of mages-like yourself-in the same way? Sure, he may want to impress you by treating you nicely so he can get on your good side...can't you see through his facade? He's merely playing at sainthood just to GET you to trust him!"

Lust was beaming maniacally.

"And you, Paladin. Don't YOU feel it? You know I speak the truth. She's a beautiful girl, isn't she? And you WANT her. More than you want your distant God or want to cling to the rules He lays down. Admit it...you feel...lust."

Garnet may have felt that behind her, Didymus was trembling.

"I heed NOT your LIES, creature." he said. "About me, and about my God. It is His place to rebuke you..."

Whether or not the theological matters being put forward on one side or the other of that exchange were true, Didymus slid off the chocobo, and drew his sword, which quickly began to shine...and he advanced on Lust and Gluttony.

Lust simply smiled.

"You see, princess? He has no excuse for his behavior! He only wishes to silence me!" she said.

"Dagger, you've seen me. Even if you do not share my faith, can you not see that I am sincere in it? Please, I reject the lies this creature is uttering, so should you." Didymus said.

Lust got into a combat stance, and Didymus, with his sword's blade now glowing white, did the same...

Tucker residence

Kimblee grinned at what Scar had revealed.

"Wow, Fullmetal. That must have taken some skill. I am impressed. Does that explain your artificial limbs, too?"

"The details of Fullmetal's situation are not details you need to know, Major Kimblee." a female voice said.

Bradley's secretary had arrived, and a unit of soldiers rushed in along with her, shouting to each other. Some went around outside the house, trying to cut Scar off.
The secretary moved to the center of the room.

"The both of you have new orders..." she said. "...the Red Rose just crashed into the Fuhrer's mansion. Survivors from it claim that the princess of Alexandria is in town, escorted by a Paladin who has brainwashed her. You are to search the town for them." she said.

"But try not to spread that a Paladin is in town. The city is panicked enough. Galdwin's spies and propagandists have enough material to work with today as is. That is all." she said.

She walked over to the helmet Scar had knocked off, grabbed it, and presented it back nonchalantly to Al.

Kimblee was beaming.

"A Paladin?" he asked. "How many religious nuts are we supposed to hunt down in one day?" he chuckled.

Sora was under attack.

Some kid was attacking him, the golems were advancing, and an arrow was flying at his face.

“Reflect!” he yelled, the magic appearing around him, absorbing the sword slash and arrow, their energy being unleashed around the boy, pushing them backwards.

“Why are you attacking me?!” Sora yelled, “What did I do?”

He spun his Keyblade around.

“Kairi, get out of here! Find someplace to hide!” Sora yelled, “Go with the soldiers if it'll keep you safe!”

Kairi nodded, knowing she wasn't much of a battler, and turned to make a run for it.

Cess, meanwhile, was staring at Bradley, though from a distance.

That man...wasn't human. Cess was a necromancer. He knew these things...And he was frightened.

-Woods-

“Yup! It can let us stay invisible in the shadows,” Garet said, “As long as we're all connected. Holding hands, basically.”

The hairs on Galv's neck suddenly stood up. A dark force was near them. He drew his sword.

“I fear we are not safe yet...” Galv hissed, staring in the direction of Nihlus...

She was far too nice.

KxS turned toward the direction where Galv was facing. She seemed as if she was trying to make herself look scarier or something, for she was silently growling. This was some sort of instict she had...she was scared, but she wasn't trying to look so this time.

Maybe I can battle this one... she thought.

Fefnir looked at Sora, scanning over him.

THIS was the GUARDIAN of a precious treasure? He didn't seem to believe it. But the key did seem like the real deal..

"All you need to know is that we want that key." Silas grumbled.

Levithan aimed three arrows at once, a smirk on his face.

"Hand over the key, kid. We're going to get it no matter how much you try...but if you hand over it now, I doubt there'll be near as much blood loss." Fefnir stated.

The Forest

Of course, Nihlus was aware something was watching him. The black mage wasn't sure what...but not far away, he sensed a swarm of beings...

He didn't plan to do anything about it. Instead, he sipped more of his tea. Nearby, his staff lay on the ground in arms reach. Perhaps they weren't hostile...but if they were, he was ready.

Bradley frowned. That was never good.

“Captain Steiner, your Queen is at Central Command. It is a fifteen minute drive from here. You would be wasting a half of an hour just to go get verification from Brahne. I must also inquire why you cannot be satisfied with my word? Our nations are allies, are they not? And surely, the President of a nation is a trustworthy figure.”

Fuhrer Bradley may not have been human, but he knew how to manipulate people. Heck, he had somehow convinced the entire nation of Amestris of a lot of lies.

[…]

Garnet’s day was getting worse. This strange woman, human or not, was a complete witch. Dagger was no fool, and had an inkling that her Paladin escort had noticed the fact that Garnet was a very attractive young woman. Still, she could see that Lust was a deceptive person and besides that, who was she more likely to trust: The man who had saved her life or a stranger?

“Didymus… be careful, please… and if you can, hurry…” Dagger swallowed hard. She could not reply to Lust, she wanted to get past these two freaks.

Tucker Residence

When Bradley’s secretary arrived and handed out new orders, Ed fumed.

“A Paladin? Why do we have to handle that crap? Isn’t Mustang supposed to be in charge of that kind of thing?”

“Brother… this could be important.” Al reminded him. Alphonse knew the real reason Ed was upset – the brothers knew that a Paladin would be a very unlikely person to know anything about the Philosopher’s Stone. Ed really hated having to do things unrelated to the brother’s goal.

“Fine, whatever. We’ll go.” He looked to Kimblee. “You… She said your name was Kimblee? I thought you were supposed to be serving a life term!”

[Forest]

Sama frowned at the idea of a dark presence in the woods. He stood up and looked off in that direction.

“Hello? Is someone there?”

Central City

Crash site

As Steiner reflected, he noticed another flaw in Bradley's arguement: what about what Tot had told him? About Garnet leaving of her own will? What was this about "brainwashing"?

He had to see for himself.

"...very well, and...yes, yes we are allies..." he said. Not that that fact pleased him.

"...do you happen to know...where the princess is? I will go at once..." he said.

He was never very good at being energetic when he was being even SLIGHTLY tricky.

[...]

Garnet had just told him to be careful, and her tone...under normal circumstances, this would have triggered all sorts of emotional switches in Didymus.

This was not normal, however. He was a Paladin confronting deceptive creatures of shadow. AND Garnet's life may be on the line here, too, even. He was, once again, "in the zone".

That is not to say that he felt nothing at Garnet's words, though.

"Thank you, Dagger. I shall, for my part, try..." Didymus said.

Lust grinned.

"Indeed you shall." she said. She brought her hand up-directing it not at Didymus, but at Garnet!

Suddenly, Didymus thrust his sword tip-down into the street in front of him, and a bright light shined out much like when Bradley had been driven away when Garnet was being escorted to Galdwin.

Lust's fingernails had shot forward, but they had passed over Didymus just as the light shone forth from his sword...

Suddenly, Lust screamed, in pain, withdrawing her hand, clutching it.

Her more round companion turned towards her.

"L-Lust? What's wrong?"

Lust simply moaned, dropping to her knees, still clutching her hand. The tips of her fingernails seemed to be...burnt.

Gluttony quickly picked her up over his shoulder, and spoke.

"I hate you..." he said to Didymus.

Didymus clearly didn't intend for that to be it, either. His sword was still glowing, and he raised it at Gluttony, who jumped up onto a nearby building with unnatrual strength and agility, especially for his form.

"I HATE YOU FOR HURTING MY LUST!" he shouted, and ran off.

Didymus was quiet for a moment, then turned back to Boco (that was the chocobo's name, right :heh:) and Garnet, sheathing his sword, putting his overcloak (which he had taken off, I just forgot to mention it XD) back and jumping back behind Garnet again.

"If you are ready, let us be off...if you'd like, we can talk about what that thing said some other time...now probably isn't the best." he said.

He gave a slight grin.

"You still trust me though, right?"

Tucker residence

The secretary shook her head.

"This IS important. The Paladin himself does not matter as much as who he is escorting-the princess of Alexandria. She is a high-value individual who must be secured. Obviously, the Fuhrer wants her unharmed...or at least alive." she said. "As for the Paladin...don't kill him, either. Giving their Order another martyr is not likely to bode well for us..." she said.

Kimblee sighed before speaking.

"Alright..." he said. "...but I'm not sure I can fight like this..."

"Come with me, then." the secretary said.

Kimblee nodded. "All right..."

The secretary looked towards Ed and Al.

"Should you be in need of transport, my car can drop you off anywhere in the city. But I must get back now, and see to it that Major Kimblee's wounds are attended to." she said.

Kimblee simply laughed at Ed's question.

"I WAS." he said. "But the state wants to survive. They want as many veteran alchemists in their ranks as possible...and I was VERY good at executing our Fuhrer's will...USUALLY." he said.

Of course, he also knew more about what was going on than he let on...

Bradley did not much care about Steiner. He would have likely decapitated the man where he stood if not for the fact that there were witnesses around, and that this knight could be useful in finding the Princess.

“If I happened to know where she was, I would send my Alchemist to find her. I hoped that your connection to the Princess might provide some insight into her thought process. If that is not the case, then go see your Queen. If you cannot aide the search, then do as you please, but do not impede the search.”

[…]

Garnet watched on baited breath as Didymus battled the beasts. She was afraid for him as Lust attacked, but she waited and did not interfere. She had learned that her magic was not useful for him, and she had no means of attack.

Well… she had one attack spell, but she could not use that at the moment. It required too much MP, and she wanted to save her magic incase her mother was injured.

When the Homunculi were driven off, Dagger looked to him.

"You still trust me though, right?"

“You’ve saved my life. I’ll admit I cannot fully trust your Order, but I have no doubt in your intentions. We can speak of this later, though… I have to find her…”

Garnet cast her eyes towards the wreckage ahead…

Tucker Residence]

Ed crossed his arms and left the residence without another word to Kimblee. He would have to talk to Mustang about this guy… Ed just met him, but something was off about him.

“Come on, Al.” Ed pulled his brother along as the two took to the streets.

“How will we find a Paladin, brother?” Alphonse asked.

“How the hell should I know? Let’s just go looking for him. Probably skulking around to avoid the troops.”
