Galdwin: Inland town

Galahad was still kneeling, light pouring forth from his sword. Didymus could feel it...

"Stay in the light..." he whispered.

Then, he slowly moved between Garnet and the newcomer, drawing his sword-his normal one. Excalibur remained sheathed at his waist, he had not revealed it yet...

Steiner moved to stand beside him.

"Who are you? Either way, the lady shan't be going with you if she does not want to. And...I'm afraid I must take issue with your threatening the town. I'd like to ask you to simply leave in peace." Didymus said.

Galdwin: Coastal town

Leliana frowned at Alex's claims.

"...how...I'm sorry you feel that way..." she paused, regaining herself. "...but all of us have value...value that I am pledged to defend..." she said.

"...you will gain nothing by harming the people in this town. There is simply no good to come of it either way." she said. She was doing her best to remain calm and levelheaded, but she thought she could guess where this was going...

The Great Desert: Refugee camp

Hughes shook his head, listening to Roy go on.

"...and so what was your plan. Grab as many people out of a refugee camp you could and run around the continent on your own accord with no ties or backup? Listen, I know that there's something behind it all, and I believe you when you say how important it is...but we still are fighting a very real war, and you're not the only one who's chasing after what's all behind this. I'm pretty sure there are others on it, too, Galdwin, Wild Rose, even...stop and think. Focus is good. Tunnel vision isn't. I know you've been through a lot, but take a deep breath, and take a look around."

He rapped a map he had on his palm.

[Gladwin: Inland Town]

Garnet stepped back behind Didymus and Steiner, frowning at the figure. Would this person really threaten the entire town? Could he have the power to do that?

“… I’ll leave you a little gift, then.” The figure threw something at the ground and a thick cloud of noxious smoke rose up. The hooded figure was gone, but out of the smoke a horrible creature arose.

It was a pale creature, vaguely humanish with a long neck and a mouth full of teeth. Its body seemed to be stained with blood, and from out of the cloud of smoke, several hands seemed to reach out.

This

[The Great Desert]

“… Then what do you suggest, Hughes? Go ask nicely for their help? It’s not that easy. If I make my presence known, they will come after me.” Mustang sighed.

When the creature appeared, Didymus stepped forward, to confront it...

...but he stayed on the edge of the brightest area of light near Galahad, as if trying to incite it to approach...Steiner remained right next to Garnet...

The Great Desert

Hughes chuckled.

"That's not EXACTLY what I was going to suggest..." he said.

"...but I do think that if you could prove you're not against them anymore, things would help...you know me, Roy. I have an intel network and contacts. I can coury messages to them for you. Galdwin, Wild Rose...I can let you talk to them...and if you could make peace with them, it will be that much easier for you to do whatever it is you have to. As it stands, BOTH sides in this war are currently hunting you, and even if you can elude them, it's still going to make your life unnecessarily difficult..."

Piers held up his hand. "Stop incriminating her!" He tells Alex. "If you feel so tough and powerful over there, fight without psynergy. Fight me hand to hand and I'll defeat you." He smiles. He knew Alex was still a challenge, even if unarmed. But he didn't want to bend the laws...and he wanted to protect the woman who freed him from jail.

He held out a hand. "If you don't think you're man enough, leave." He says simply.

[Galdwin: Inland Town]

Dead Hand (the creature) slithered a bit closer but stopped at the edge of the lighted aura. It shrunk back and let out a wailing moan that was filled with the sound of agony.

Then, two hands from out of the clouds shot into a nearby building, ripping out the wall and grabbing a young woman from inside. She screamed as she was gripped by the blood-soaked creature!

“No! We have to save her!” Garnet cried out.

[Great Desert]

“If you have the people, set it up.” Mustang nodded. “Quickly.”

As the woman was grabbed and Garnet cried out, Didymus' eyes narrowed.

Either it's just bloodthirsty...or it wants to draw me out...but Garnet's right...

"STAY IN THE LIGHT!" he called, then jumped forward, sword aglow, and ran at the arms gripping the young woman, attempting to slice them off and free her!

He wasn't sure if Garnet would listen to him; but that wasn't his first concern at the moment...

Great Desert

Hughes adjusted his glasses.

"You don't work in intel as long as I do without getting to know a few people. We've got people some in Galdwin. They've got some people in Amestris. The numbers on both sides have gone down over the past few years due to the war and increasing security in both nations, but there's still enough for the intel community to be like a great big dysfunctional family where the various factions in it are trying to kill each other."

He grinned.

"They'll obviously be suspecting a trap, which is why this MUST be kept top-secret or it'll turn out like Ankh-Morpork...just state how you'd like to meet with our Galdwinian and Wild Rose friends and I'll arrange the meeting."

[Galdwin: Inland Town]

As soon as Didymus jumped outside of the circle of light, another undead hand shot from out of the ground and tried to grab him! Like all the hands, it was a pale, sickly color and looked wrinkled and rotted… and the fingernails were red spikes!

“Didymus!” Garnet gasped and she immediately rushed forward and threw up her hands.

“Diamond Dust!”

With a bright flash of blue light and a surging cold wind, a woman appeared and shot forth icicles at the monster!

[Great Desert]

“… I need to speak with them personally. Can you bring them here?” Mustang asked.

Didymus sliced at the hand reaching out for him, sword aglow, and moved to dodge it!

He registered Garnet's cry, but was too focused to reflect on what emotion it may have held.

But then, she summoned, and Didymus saw icicle shards whiz by him at the monster!

That works, I guess... he grinned a bit, and rushed towards the arm holding the young woman hostage, intending to slice it!

Great Desert

Hughes nodded, slowly.

"They'd probably prefer it if they met in territory like this...yeah, I can do that." he said.

"...anything else?" he asked.

[Galdwin: Inland Town]

“Really, now... this is all a gesture in futility.” The cloaked figure spoke, but from where was a mystery. The toxic cloud that surrounded the corpse monster was growing. It could not penetrate the circle of light that came from Didymus' Holy Sword, but it was seeping into buildings.

The beast roared in anguish. The icicles had impaled its torso and left gaping holes – but no blood seeped out. Its arm had been severed off, and the innocent woman saved. She screamed and ran into the circle of light next to Garnet.

The severed arm that had fallen off did not leak blood... and it began to slithered around like a stark white serpent.

“You cannot defeat this monster... you cannot defeat me.” The cloaked figured hissed.

[Great Desert]

“Just hurry up, Hughes.” Roy said, shaking his head. “We need to move fast... I'm worried we're on borrowed time...”

Didymus was glad to see the woman saved, and now taking refuge in the circle of light near where Galahad was kneeling. But the severed hand was now crawling about...

Have to go for the head...but first, get this thing...then go for the head or its controller...

He jumped at the severed, now crawling hand, trying to drive his blade directly into and impale the thing!

Great Desert

Hughes got up.

"You're just NOW getting that sensation? I've been feeling like we're on borrowed time since the war started." he chuckled.

"I'll arrange a meeting here. You'll be making reluctant allies and untrusting friends before you know it. Just like me."

He grinned again. He really hated to introduce Mustang to the intelligence community...but it was for his own good, right?

I can't see what you're imagining
-Xing-

Spork followed after Sama, making sure to grab his sword.

Hammah ran after them too, wanting to prove that he could help...

-Thundara: Royal Castle-

“You're not giving up already, are you Lion-O?” Tygra asked, standing by his brother, “Don't tell me the sword chose wrong.”

He then disappeared, going towards Mumm-Ra, appearing behind him, whipping his...well, whip, at the evil doer!

-Galdwin: Coastal Town-

Alex was quiet, staring at the two.

“...You two are brave. But I suppose you must be, for being what you are.”

Alex's hand moved, a blue orb being tossed to Piers.

The Mercury Star.

“Your allies have the Mars Star, but I am still in possession of Jupiter and Venus. If you wish to gain them from me, then next time you must be willing to face me on my terms. I give you that in hopes that next time you may be an inkling closer to my level,” Alex said simply, “And I will leave with one last piece of advice...Travel to the desert, and your friends will find you.”

Psynergy then glowed around Alex, and he disappeared in a flash of light...

[Galdwin: Inland Town]

The beast roared out in pain as he was stabbed by Excalibur and fell back. Writhing on the ground, the sickly pale creature began to catch fire, and burnt away.

Its extra arms and the poison gas all seemed to burn away as well, cleansed by a consuming fire.

The hooded figure standing not far away frowned, and took an instinctive step back.

“… You think this is over because you have vanquished a monster? Ha…” The figure chuckled darkly. “Besides… tell me, Sir Galahad, how can you condone this? A young Paladin of your own order, the wielder of Excalibur – fighting alongside the Queen of Mages? Can you claim this victory for your Order when her magic helped you?”

He was trying to sow seeds of distrust and discord.

[Xing: The Desert]

Sama ran forward, his friends following him. The overwhelming feeling of despair was filling his body. His chest felt tight and his vision was swimming.

As they reached the edge of town, he gasped at the sight in front of him.

Out in the desert, barely visible on the horizon, was the unmistakable light of a transmutation circle. A enormous transmutation circle – one that was burning with the red light of human transmutation.

“No… Nooo! We have to stop this!” Sama panicked, breaking into a sprint.

Galahad stood when the monster was vanquished, his sword still glowing.

"I am ready to offer an answer to any man who asks and truly seeks understanding..." he said.

"...but I will not argue for for its own sake, or for that of discord. Galdwin and Alexandria do not agree on much...but here, the lady has respected our laws...and we need not be enemies."

He stepped forward.

"Now, you will lay down your staff and yield yourself up..." he began walking forward, towards the figure, as Didymus stood, eventually taking a step backwards towards Garnet...

Galdwin: Coastal town

Leliana paused for a moment.

"I get the sensation that was about something...considerable..." she said.

"I have heard of these stars, and that it would be catastrophic if they were brought together..." she said again.

"...please, tell me that it not your aim?" she asked.

[Galdwin: Inland Town]

The hooded figure let out a soft, creepy laughter as Galahad began to walk towards him. From the ground, around the figure, a strange and noxious aura began to seep outward.

“I will do no such thing. However... if you dare to come closer, I will rid this world of your pathetic interference.”

There was a bright light, and when it vanished, the figures robes, hood and staff had vanished. Instead, a strange man with fiery red hair and green skin, wearing black armor and carrying a glowing white sword was standing before them.

“Ha... Ha... Ha... you cannot defeat me, Paladin scum!”

Galahad and Didymus both paused, regarding this man...

Gerudo and Hyrule were far away, across Amestris...and both usually kept to themselves. But tales would occassionally reach even Galdwin about a green-skinned sorcerer who plagued the elves constantly and involved himself in all manner of dark arts...

Didymus raises his blade, stepped closer to Garnet, to, as usual, stand between his charge and the threat...

Galahad, though surprised, was undeterred.

"I repeat my call: you will lay down your arms and surrender yourself."

Didymus paused, wondering-should he draw Excalibur?
