[One Year Later] The summit, championed by the Avatar and the independent nation-state of Ankh-Morpork, went forward. The leaders of Amestris, Alexandria and Galdwin sat at one table, along with Ankh-Morpork’s own leader, to discuss an end to the war. During that meeting, an assassin attacked – using alchemy. Princess Garnet and the Galdwinian Ambassador were injured, and the assassin was unmasked as a State Alchemist. Mustang denied any role in the attack, but the combination of him being unharmed and the attacker’s identity cast any credibility he held into the very flames he was so famous so. The summit failed… and war raged on. An unchanging war consumed the continent, and the heroes who struggled against the conspiracy in the shadows of Amestris, fell apart… but were not forgotten. After returning to Amestris, Mustang was accused of murdering his predecessor, Fuhrer Bradley, and was ousted from office. He fled from his own country, seeking refuge in Ishbal, the very nation he had helped destroy so long ago. A new Fuhrer took the throne… and behind the scenes of the conspiracy, those ultimately responsible, found a new agent of chaos to secretly control Amestris, and produce their philosopher’s stones… But whenever evil threatens to reign… someone makes a stand… [Xing: Underground Arena] With a thunderous clang, two swords clashed together, sending sparks flying into the air! The blades withdrew, but a moment later they smashed together once more. The arena was small and the air was stale and uncirculated. It felt much hotter than it actually was. The arena was located underground, in an old tavern in one of the smaller border towns in Xing. Xing is a massive country, separated from the rest of the continent by the Great Desert on the south and the Briggs Mountains on the West. Xing is ruled by an Imperial Dynasty, with a single Emperor who has a multitude of wives and concubines. The Emperor’s health had failed in recent years, and now his many sons were warring for the throne in preparation for their father’s immanent death. Many spoke of Prince Ling, but at the small arena, another of the Emperor’s sons was dueling. Musashi slashed his katana with the speed and abilities of an expert. He had been training since he was a very young child and his capabilities with the long two-handed blade were nearly unmatched. He had even learned to wield two katanas at once; a difficult and often dangerous task. His opponent was a foreigner, fighting with a foreign sword. It was a bulky, blocky broadsword which had far more strength than the katana, but less maneuverability. The messy-haired opponent wore a tattered red tunic and a brown cape. His eyes were burning with determination and sweat covered his face as he matched blow for blow with Prince Musashi. The swords clang loudly, the sound like bells in the darkness. “Hyaahhh!” Musashi cried out, smashing his sword with both hands and all the strength her could muster. His opponent’s sword flew from his hand and clattered to the ground. In a swift move, Musashi kicked his enemy in the chest and knocked him to the ground. With a single movement, he brought the katana’s blade to rest on the young man’s neck. “… You did good. Damn better than I expected after six months… but you’re not ready.” Musashi said, as he drew his sword back and put it away on his beck. He wiped sweat from his brow on the back of his sleeve. “You’re forgetting this wasn’t a real fight,” Sama replied as he rolled onto his knees and hopped up. “If I’d used my bending…” “Yes, you could win with your bending, Avatar.” Musashi replied, wagging a finger. “But you asked me to teach you to fight with a sword. So I judge you based only on that.” Sama nodded, and bowed. The boy was the Avatar, the leader of the Bending Valley. He would have been the leader of that society, had it survived. Amestries had invaded and taken over the Bending Valley, killing many Benders and scattering others to the four winds. A year ago, he had tried to bring together the nations at a Peace Summit in Ankh-Morpork. It had failed, and a war had raged for a year. Every life lost on both sides of that war weighed on Sama… he had a chance to put years of war to end, and he had failed. Sama struggled forward, looking for another way to end the war… then, six months earlier, he had met one of the Princes of Xing. He convinced Musashi to teach him to wield a sword. The Avatar sighed, closing his eyes and taking a seat in the corner of the muggy, underground arena. He missed his home more than ever. [Galdwin: Countryside Church] Deep within Galdwin’s borders is a peaceful countryside church, yet untouched by the war. An old legend tells of how a lone paladin had once protected the church against an onslaught of goblins all through the night as he awaited reinforcements; and that when the army finally arrived, the one paladin had slain the entire goblin regimen. It was here that Garnet til Alexandros XVII sat out on the grass reading an old book. In the last year, she had studied quite a bit. Books on religion, economy, combat tactics, astronomy, the history of cheese, and several of volumes on everything from world events to simple poems. The failure at the summit had weighed on her. She knew her people still suffered under the rule of Garland, and she knew she had let down her allies. A year ago, so many people had risked their lives for her. Paladins, Mages, Thieves… people from all over had risked everything, and she had failed them. It was a heavy burden for the woman who should have been queen, but one she continued to bear. And as she sat the book down, and lay back on the grass, Garnet closed her eyes. Something told her that the time was quickly coming when she would have to act… and this time, she could not fail. [Thundara: Royal Castle] Across the Great Desert sits the mighty kingdom of Thundara. A land of many tribes, each a humanized version of animals. There, no tribe was stronger than the Cats, who ruled Thundara justly and with honor. On this day, the young prince Lion-O was out in the royal garden. He was lazing about in the sun, swatting at a bug, as cats are want to do. Yet something nagged at him, and it made his ears perk up. He had a strange feeling that something exciting was going to happen today. [Great Desert: Ishbalian Ruins] The desert winds were hot and sand blew along with them. The sun was beating down hard from above, and heat rose from the dunes. The ruins were almost completely destroyed. There were a few old pillars and half a collapsed library. It was once part of Ishbal, a massive library of texts. Roy Mustang was aware of the irony. Just a year ago, for a short time, he had achieved his ultimate goal and become Fuhrer of Amestries. He had risen to power, and thanks to the Avatar and a Galdwinian Ranger, he had a chance to snag the throne vacated by Bradley. Then, it all went wrong. He agreed to attend a Peace Summit in Ankh-Morpork. It seemed to perfect to be true. A chance to end the war and make amends for the crimes of Bradley and his co-conspirators. It all went wrong when an alchemist – an assassin – attacked the summit and nearly killed everyone in the room; except for Mustang. Galdwin had blamed Amestrs for the attack, and while Mustang denied it, he knew they had no reason to believe. The summit fell apart, and with it, his Fuhrership. He knew that the mysterious woman, Maleficent, whom he knew to be behind Bradley’s crimes, had done it. She spread word that Mustang had purposely sabotaged the only hope for peace… and then people started suspecting he had been the true killer of Fuhrer Bradley. He was thrown out of office, arrested – but he escaped. He reunited with Hawkeye and fled to Ishbal of all places, looking for sanctuary. These days, Mustang spent his time planning and organizing… he was waiting for the day when he could return to his home. The day he could try again. |

Galdwin: Countryside Church A year. A long year, since the summit. A long year since they had attended that ambush. A long year since Excalibur had been drawn. A military car was approaching the church, and in it was a Paladin who had seen much in the past year. Didymus had been reassigned when Garnet chose to seek refuge. Excalibur was at the front-a young man who had never seen the full force of modern war was suddenly thrust headlong into it, to raise spirits. To lead men. To wield Excalibur in hopes of ending, of winning, this war. He had seen so many battles, so much slaughter. ...but his face was not worn with wear and worry. Yes, he had seen horrors. But horror was not the only thing. He had seen great and wondrous things. Things that inspired him as much as inspired the men around him. Things that strengthened faith, even amidst this terrible war...and he had even seen progress-behind the scenes, away from the bitter front lines, progress and slowly unraveling the conspiracy behind this war which consumed the continent...had the tide turned, per se? No. But bit by bit, clues that he had often been guided into helping unearth were fitting together, the puzzle may not have even been half complete, but one piece often fit with another and led to a third, and between the battles he had served in to help defend Galdwin and be used to inspire hope and faith, and what spare time he had been given, he had seen enough to know that the metaphorical tide may not have yet turned...but progress WAS being made. He looked down at his side, Excalibur sheathed at it, and reflected. But as they neared the church, he looked up-this was where...where SHE was staying, too...he thought he saw something on the grass. "Corporal, stop here, please." The car stopped, and Didymus got out. "Thank you. Please drive to the outpost here and park. Feel free to get something to eat or what have you..." He started walking, towards this raven-haired figure he saw... |

Xing: Underground Arena "Oh good, you didn't kill him" A pretty teenage girl walked into the middle of the arena, holding two small cups of water. She stopped in front of Musashi and then looked down at Sama. "It was a good fight, but you really need to pay more attention. While the last year had been pretty stressful for everyone Crystal found herself using it to try and relax and clear her mind of all the bad memories and experience in the past. She wanted to do the complete opposite of Sama, and attempt to pretend things were at least a little normal. One Year Later A beautiful woman walked down the halls of Central command, unescorted and not quite matching the rest of the men and women around. While they were all obviously in the military she had no connection....But somehow she managed to get close enough to the new Fuhrer that he regarded her as a trusted source of information and a trusted adviser. It also didn't hurt that she was easy on the eyes. Either way he trusted her, and she planned to use that to gain access to classified information on the Philosopher's Stone. Kanna was kinda a jerk. But once again she was at least easy on the eyes. |

[Xing: Underground Arena] “Hahah, of course I didn't kill him! I'm more careful than that.” Musashi grinned, putting his sword away and looking around the arena with a certain satisfaction from his victory. Sama looked up at Crystal and offered a small, weary smile. He had seen her try to make things better, and act as if life was still normal, and he appreciated it beyond words. Still, he found it difficult to forget what had happened. He sat up and rubbed the back of his neck. “Paying attention has never been my strong suit.” Truer words have never been spoken. [Galdwin: Countryside Church] Garnet paused as she heard the rare sound of a car. Where she was was isolated, and few people ever came this way. Whenever she heard a car, it meant that someone was probably here to brief her. While many in Galdwin had forgotten about the Princess they harbored, there were still those who kept her informed. She hopped up and looked, and to her surprised she saw Didymus coming towards them. She waved. |

Galdwin: countryside church When Garnet waved, Didymus smiled, not expecting such a gesture. It seemed...happier...than he knew she probably was. He returned the wave, and eventually came up to her. "Lady Garnet." he said. "How have you been these past few...what's it been, two months? Three? Three, I think..." This was not the only time in the past year he had been out this way. Central City, Amestris-Military Headquarters "Hey, wait-what?" A troubled, yet perky, female voice sounded out alongside Kanna, coming from a girl with hair as black as hers and a pretty (though not jaw-droppingly beautiful like she insisted) face. Cyrena Ellen had not been a happy girl since Mustang was accused. She had been an outspoken, (though perhaps obnoxious) defender of his reputation (though many suspected that was because she was infatuated with him as opposed to any honest belief about his role or lack thereof in Bradley's demise). As the certified "Sunshine Alchemist" (a name she had been hoping to get something along the lines of), she had continued working at Amestris' central military command post, but there was some suspicion floating around about her... ...but SHE was suspicious of Kanna. "Who are you?" she asked. |

I can't see what you're imagining

-Central- Streets A tall, lanky figure with very pale skin and bright green eyes walked down the streets, dressed in a loose blue outfit, looking around. Cess had come to Central, accompanied by his other traveling companions, being the unspoken leader of his group. As a necromancer, he could feel some great evil welling up within the city. Something...terrifying. “...It's here...” he muttered, “Somewhere...” Military Headquarters “Now, now, Sunshine...she's an advisor...” A tall man with black hair, slicked back, and with terrifying green eyes appeared. He wore the blue suit of the military, but his decorations and markings indicated something... Don Gallic, the new Fuhrer of Amestries. He smiled softly, walking over to Kanna, “She was coming to meet with me, weren't you Miss Narroh?” -Xing: Underground Area- “Man, you two are almost making me wish I knew how to use my own sword better,” Spork chuckled, having watched the two fight, his diamond sword resting on his back. From behind Crystal was Hammah, clinging to her legs, and staring wide eyed at Sama and Musashi, interested in the shiny things they were using to fight with. -Thundara: Royal Castle- “Something bugging you Lion-O? Looks like you might actually be thinking.” Tygra had found Lion-O in the garden, seeing him looking a little restless. “Or did a bug just fly into your mouth, hmmmm?” Tygra chuckled. |

[Thundara: Royal Castle] Lion-O frowned at his brother as he came over. The young lion-man stood up and shook his head. “I'm just thinking about tonight, that's all... this festival is such a big deal to everyone, but...” He shook his head. “I just feel like there's better things we could be doing...” [Xing: Underground Arena] Musashi looked over to Spork and nodded his head. “From what I hear, you're pretty good... but if you really want to improve, I'm always up for a sparring match. I need to get better if I'm going to become Emperor.” [Central: Streets] A mysterious woman in a black cloak and hood was wandering the streets. She was thin, malnourished and her eyes were dark. She could not believe she had fallen so far... this was all because of the failures last year... but she would redeem herself to her masters... [Galdwin: Countryside Church] Garnet smiled and sat up, putting her books away in a large brown knapsack, which she slung over her shoulder. “I am... as well as can be expected.” She said with the best smile she could muster. “I had hoped you'd come by soon. Please, what news from the front?” |

Central City, Amestris Military HQ "An adviser?" Cyrena paused. "...what does she do...?" she asked. Streets Another young woman in Amestris' military was on her way to work when she noticed, through the crowds, a woman in black. ...suspicous. She pressed her glasses against her nose again, and looked around. It was a crowded enough day, right? She should be safe... Sheska decided to follow this cloaked figure through the crowds... Galdwin: Countryside church Didymus regarded Garnet, and it was clear that she was greatly troubled. But she was trying to smile... "...the front? Well...the Amestrisian push near the center of the border is halted, and I've just returned from the front in Alexandria, where-" He stopped. "...I'm sorry, do you really want to hear it all? Or how about why I'm here?" He paused. "...I'm here because of the next piece of the puzzle. As you know, Lady Garnet, not all is loss and implacable stalemate in this affair, not entirely at least." He paused. "...the conspiracy, Lady Garnet. The pieces of the puzzle continue to come together. I've seen numerous...individuals...been used in apprehending them, in fact, and they speak of things...I suppose it's old news, but we know it to be a single conspiracy that has triggered this war. To precisely what end, and why...we aren't yet sure, but...what we have uncovered thus far has, to that effect, provided whispers...something about allegedly remaking the world, crushing any bastion of resistance that can't be tamed or that isn't worth it...hints that it extends to the lands across the desert...then instituting the "endgame"..." He shook his head. "Perhaps not much to go on in and of itself, but once you get into the details, a picture begins to form, if you will. One piece of the puzzle we acquire seems to fit together with another and indicate where we might find a third...and it is in pursuit of one of those third pieces that I now come this way again..." He paused, trying to smile warmly again. "...but what of you, Lady Garnet? I see you've a full bookbag, as usual..." |

Central:Streets A tall, long-haired woman walked by Cess' side. She had matured at least a little since meeting the necromancer a year ago, but she was still adventurous and playful. She herself could feel some sort of disturbance in the atmosphere. But because she was a Star-Maiden and not a much more powerful being, she couldn't prove it was evil. Just a bad feeling zapping in her brain. "What's here?" she asked Cess curiously. Behind them was another girl, but around three years younger than Shimera and darker-haired. The teenage girl made a long sigh. She would be in trouble if she was here for too long...she still couldn't control her vicious wolf form during the full moon. Yes, she could at one time, but she turned out to be in the wrong side of justice; hurting others instead of helping. KxS looked down at the ground with a melancholy expression marked on her face. A werewolf can never find peace. |

Central:Streets A raven haired teenager was following along, brown eyes looking about at the city, even though his mind was fixated on a sole subject. He gently pat KxS' back... "We'll find a cure...there was some woman I met a year ago...back at the train. I wasn't able to be cured of my bite...but if we could find her...we can be cured..." His mind flashed back, trying to remember what she looked like... "So don't worry about it. We'll get through this together. Promise." |

-Thundara: Royal Castle- “Sometimes you just have to relax,” Tygra shrugged, “Or...” He grinned, “Find some excitement yourself. First one to the castle wins!” Tygra then shot off suddenly, heading from the garden, making a beeline to the castle! -Xing: Underground Area- “I'm alright. My style depends a lot on my bending as it is,” Spork shrugged, “Though, I do always have my sword for bending...” -Central- Military HQ “Why, she advises, of course,” Gallic chuckled, “She helps keep an ear to the civilian population. Let me know what they're thinking and doing, making sure I keep our fine citizens' interests in mind when deciding what to do.” All lies, of course. “Now Kanna, shall we head to the war room?” Gallic asked, extending an arm to the lady. Streets “Something really bad...I'm just not sure what...” Cess told Shimera, frowning, “Like a thousand souls, all crying out at once...” I couldn't resist the line. He then turned to the others, putting on a brave face. “Look...none of you have to be here with me. I'm doing this because I feel I have to honor my Master's teachings. None of you have to put yourself in danger like this...” Cess said, “You can leave me, if you want...” |

[Thundara: Royal Castle] “Oh it's ON!” Lion-O shouted, he jumped up and sprinted towards the castle. He jumped up, running across the wall, using his claws to walk across the walls as he ran towards the castle. [Xing: Underground Arena] “Majesty!” A group rushed into the room. They were Xingese soldiers, rushing over towards Musashi. They bowed, and the one in the front looked up. “We have received a report, highness. From Amestris. It seems something large is being planned for the warfront.” Sama's ears perked up. “What...” [Galdwin: Countryside Church] Garnet nodded. “I've spent most of my time studying... trying to learn more... so that if I were ever given another chance, things could work out better...” She paused. “... Didymus... could we set up a meeting with the Elders?” |

Galdwin: Countryside church Didymus listened as Garnet spoke her piece, and then spoke himself in reply. "As long as breath yet remains in your lungs, Lady Garnet, you have not failed-there is STILL hope that you can turn Alexandria away from its path...I KNOW you must feel overwhelmed, I know you must feel so burdened, and heck, that's perhaps a sign you care...but...and what happened at the summit wasn't your fault." He paused. How can I offer her comfort, Father...? “... Didymus... could we set up a meeting with the Elders?” He paused. "I don't know if we could get all of them..." he said. "Elder Godric is leading a push up north...Elder Galahad's push just took its objective and dug in, though, so we could get him...I don't know about Elder Cid, and some others...in short, I doubt we could get them all together, but I'm sure some at least would be available, and all would be willing to hear what you have to say and offer their advice..." He paused. "...what is on your mind, Lady Garnet? If you don't mind my asking?" Central City, Amestris Military HQ Cyrena hesitated. "Um, yes sir..." she said. Should I...follow them...? What about...? She sighed. Ever since Mustang was thrown out, things had been so much more difficult for her... |

Central: Streets KxS' head shot up to let her eyes meet Cess' face. "I'm not cowering away again. I'm sick of running and I'm tired of always taking the easy way," she crossed her arms. After a short silence she gave him a smirk. "Besides, what's 'danger' to a werewolf?" Yes, what's danger to a werewolf other than silver? Shimera smiled. "I'm coming too! Danger is the fun part of adventure!" Says the Star-Maiden who once flew up a building to get away from a werewolf fight. |
