[Patrician's Palace] Sama laughed... nervously. He knew she was serious. He gulped, and rubbed the back of his neck. “We should be fine! Ankh-Morpork is a crazy city... and most of the people here wouldn't bat an eye.” Of course, Spork had given him a list of warnings of what not to do. Sama had already forgotten the list. “Let's go get ice cream!” Sama chanted, sounding like a kid himself. [Ankh-Morpork Streets] A tall redheaded... cat person wearing blue armor was walking through the busy streets of Ankh-Morpork. “This city is just insane... I've never seen anything like it before.” Lion-O twitched his nose. [Cid's Airship] “... Fine. We'll fly through Galdiwn, but we get into trouble it's on you. I've had run ins with the Rangers before, and they're not the friendliest sort.” Cid adjusted the course. Zidane shook his head, looking to Steiner. “Last I checked, she hadn't been complaining about me... but she doesn't seem interested in what you have to say, so maybe you should just shut the heck up, rustola.” [Flashback] “I... I have never seen a fiend that big...” Yuna muttered. “The island is getting more dangerous...” |

Cid's Airship "Thank you." Didymus said. "And yes, I understand. The Rangers...heh. Some have called my Order and the Rangers two sides of a single coin...don't know if that's an entirely proper metaphor, or if it is, but yes, I know, at least a bit, how the Rangers are..." He paused. "In the meantime, if there's something you need done, just let me know and I'll see what I can do...but as you can guess, I'm no mechanic..." “Last I checked, she hadn't been complaining about me... but she doesn't seem interested in what you have to say, so maybe you should just shut the heck up, rustola.” "Not complaining?! Hmph! I've seen the two of you speak, and I can tell her demeanor towards you!" Flashback: Besaid Island Didymus paused. "What a pity, if so." He glanced her over-it was not as bright as day, but the moonlight was rather bright out. "You don't look hurt-if that's true...we should probably try to find your bodyguard..." he said. |

Ankh-Morpork -Streets- Shimera was gazing curiously at Lust the whole time. Something seemed really dark about this character, and the Star-Maiden could feel it. "Do you think we should follow her?" she asked Cess in a whisper. |

Patrician's Palace Crystal giggled, following Sama with Hammah in tow. She knew they would have to be careful, but this would be good for them... "Hammah darling, what would you like when we get there?" she asked, trying toact casual...She didn't want to attract any attention...Actually she didn't want Sama to. |

[Ankh-Morpork Streets] Sama led Crystal and Hammah out into the streets of the city. He had only ever been to Ankh-Morpork a few times prior to this – and in nearly all of those cases, it had ended badly. “We'll be fine. I bet, after our delicious snack, we can find a million fun things to do here! At least until the summit can happen... it'd be nice to get our minds off everything, right?” Sama was brimming with happiness as they set off. He felt like for a little while he could ignore the pressing issues and the impending wars. As they turned a corner, Sama noticed a street vendor – a shady looking vendor standing at the side of the road. “Oooh, I love the merchants here! They always sell such interesting stuff.” Sama grinned. He rushed over, before Crystal could stop him. “Hello my friend.” The vendor grinned. “Can I interest you in a monkey paw?” “No thanks.” Sama shook his head. “But do you have anything else?” The Vendor paused. “Hmm... well, I see you are a man of impeccable taste. How about a genuine magical ring?” Sama grinned. “Magic ring? Sounds awesome. What does it do?” “You slip it on, and you become invisible!” “Oooooh cool. I'll take it!” Sama grinned, handing some gold to the vendor, and getting a small ring in return. [Cid's Airship] “The Rangers are a bunch of asses. No offense.” Cid grumbled, puffing on his cigarette. “They don't like me. They don't like my ship. And they especially don't like some of the company I sometimes keep. Nosy @#$%s. Anyway, if they do hassle me, I expect you to talk them down, understood?” With that, Cid begrudgingly set the ship to full speed, sending them towards Galdwinian airspace. Cid was visibly nervous. “Not that I can't outrun 'em, or outgun 'em. I could on both counts. But it's a pain in the ass. I over-do it on the engines, we'll end up having to refuel sooner... and that'll slow us from our destination. Don't think your little Princess pal would like that.” It didn't seem Cid would stop complaining – or worrying – about the Rangers anytime soon. And he was right. Suddenly there was a thunderous boom – a warning shot, fired across the bow of the ship. |

-Ankh-Morpork- “This is Sam's call...” Cess said, to Shimera. He turned to Sam. “Your call...we listen to her, or not...” Hammah stared at the Monkey's Paw as the strange man offered it to Sama. He was sad that some poor monkey had lost it's hand. Maybe he should take it so he could find the monkey and give it back. His daddy took things sometimes...at least when Spork thought Hammah wasn't looking. He sidled towards the man, trying to figure out how he could get it. -Cid's Airship- “Where are the weapons anyways?” Sora asked, as the ship was attacked, “I could help man one...” |

[Ankh-Morpork] Sama had no idea that Hammah was trying to take the monkey's paw – and neither did the creepy vendor. He could easily snatch it! [Cid's Airship] “Hang on a minute, kiddo.” Cid said, with an annoyed look on his face. “If we need too, I'll be more than happy to show you how to blow these Ranger bastards out of the sky... but Mr. Robe over here says he can get 'em to back off.” He looked to Didymus. “So do it. Get these guys off my ass, will ya?” |

Cid's airship As the warning shot was fired, Didymus shook his head. "Heh. Always vigilant. That's the Ranger Corps motto, you know. Although I'll be surprised if we find them on a routine border inspection...if I may ask, slow down and I'll step out onto the deck and check it out...hopefully, it's just a border inspection or something. If not...um, I'll yell. Really loud. Or a signal of light will come up. Something." He hoped it was just a Galdwinian patrol. That would be no problem; it would even be an assurance that they were entering (relatively, at least) safe skies, he thought. ...but the possibility of an ambush had him wary. This journey had been full of such things...with another look at Garnet, and the arguement that had built up around her between Steiner and Zidane, he opened the cabin door and peeked outside, trying to see the other airship... Flashback: Besaid Island Didymus glanced her over at Yuna-it was not as bright as day, but the moonlight was rather bright out. "You don't look hurt-if that's true...we should probably try to find your bodyguard..." he said. Ankh-Morpork streets Lust raised an eyebrow at Sam. "Well?" she asked. "It's really not that far..." She tapped her foot, as if losing patience. |

Ankh Morpork Streets "...Ya show me where she is, without a catch eh?" Sam couldn't feel like something was urging him...whether it was fate, or plot, or just wanting to see her...he really wanted her. |

[Cid's Airship] A very large Airship was flying not terribly far from Cid's. The wood was a rich oak and the steam engines poured out a massive white cloud as they chugged to keep the ship flying through the skies. The flag of Galdwin flew from the main mass, and embossed on the side of the ship was the ensignia of the Rangers. A warning to all enemies. On the deck, a older man in a brown cloak was standing, watching. “... Identify yourselves.” |

Cid's airship Didymus had removed his overcloak, so his Paladin's robe was clearly visible. "Hail, Ranger! I am Brother Didymus, and I request permission for myself and this ship to pass safely. My mission is an important one, or so I believe, at least..." he said. |

[Ranger Airship] The man in the hood paused as Didymus revealed himself. There was a silence, the only sound coming from the massive steam engines that kept the ships floating. Then... “Ha... Hahahahaahahahaahah! Well now this is a surprise... I would not have expected to find you on such a notorious airship. I'll call the Rangers off.” The old man flipped back his hood. It was Cidolfus Orlandeau, one of the Elder's of the Paladin Order. |

Cid's Airship "Elder? Elder!" Didymus cried, happy to see Cid. He paused. "I wouldn't expect to see you out on border patrol, if I may say so, Elder, but as you and the rest of the Elders know, this mission does have me in rather unusual company-unusual for anyone, might I add." He chuckled. "Anyway, thank you, Elder. Also, I do have some tidings that I believe it would be good-even necessary-for you to hear, but first, let me please go and let my companions know that it's alright." |

[Ranger Airship] “Hahah... Oh, I have my reasons for being here. There have been a lot of rumors of spies coming in through merchant ships... but that's not something you need to worry about. Your mission is more important than mine.” He nodded, and then signaled for the Rangers to stand down. Soon enough, Cid approved Cid's airship to land, and once it had, Cid (the Paladin) headed onto Cid's ship to meet Cid (the pilot). “Welcome to Galdwin.” |

Galdwinian border Didymus reflected on Cid's words, still thinking it strange but understanding; besides, if the Elders deemed the threat important enough to send one of their own... ...he shook his head. Cid was right; his mission seemed to be of greater importance, even if it wasn't, he needed not dwell on a task that was not his own. “Welcome to Galdwin.” Didymus sighed upon hearing those words. It was a somewhat weary, but happy sigh. He hadn't even been gone for that long, but it did him good, he thought, to stand in Galdwin again. "Ladies and gentlemen, for those of you who have not met him, might I introduce Elder Cidolfus Orlandeau, Elder in the Order. Elder, as you can see, we've quite a diverse band pieced together, Lady Garnet and I have met many others on our travels-" He started going down the line. "Lady Yuna needs no introduction, I should imagine, her cousin and guardian Rikku, Sora and Kairi, two people from Destiny Island who have proven adept at handling themselves in a fight, you seem to already know the airship pilot, Cid...or at least his airship, Captain Steiner, Lady Garnet's bodyguard since she was an infant, and..." Didymus moved down the line, introducing anyone Vidit may have missed one by one, and when he was done, he turned to face them again, smiling. "So again, welcome to Galdwin; though if I understand our plan correctly, we can't and indeed shouldn't stay longer than we must...but first..." He regarded Cid (Paladin) again. "...Elder...Excalibur has been unsheathed." |
