I'll bite your legs off!

Madain Sari “You have a lot of passion. But you're loud, and on more than one occasion you've proven many times to be a problem for her. Just try to pay attention... try to stand back and watch her, but don't smother her.” Steiner paused for a moment, thinking deeply. "I am...how have I proven a problem for her? I have always but done my duty..." he mused. "...how have I "smothered" her? It is only proper for a bodyguard to remain ever at his charge's side...but..." He was deep in thought. "...I must address her on this! Yes, this will reveal the princess' mind! She is not a liar, after all. She will tell me if I ask." [...] “I'm tempted to say we should slow down, but it would simply be because I'm afraid of what may be awaiting us... I'm... sorry.” "Afraid, lady Garnet? I...please, don't be. Again, we haven't been carried this far for nothing. We couldn't have been, I'd say." “... There are things that I wish I could do now... I do wish we could sit and just... talk. There are things I'd like to say... but I'm afraid, I have no way to stop thinking about Alexandria... until I have fulfilled this quest, it is all I can think of.” "I understand. Indeed, my thoughts often turn back to Galdwin and how it fares as well. But I think, as long as we're here on this island, we do have time to just talk, if we're to be resting. But yes, we do have a task before us, I suppose..." “Just bear with me a bit longer...” Didymus straightened up, and walked over next to her, grabbing the handle of the door. "Of course, lady Garnet. I am here to help, after all. Now, please, perhaps I should go first? Just in case?" He placed his hand on the hilt of his (usual) sword, though both it and Excalibur were sheathed at his waist. "If you are ready, lady Garnet..." |

-Unknown Forest- “You found it!” Galv said happily at Melanie, “Yay!” He looked at the lights, hoping this was Central... -Central Underground- “Why don't we find some third party?” Spork asked, showing up by Crystal and Sama, “Someone to act between us and Amestries?” He paused, “Well...Maybe someone from Ankh-Morpork? They seem to be one of the few places not readying themselves for war...Well, they're selling weapons...” |

[Madain Sari] Auron let out another sigh, and then turned to Steiner once more. “...She's not a liar, but she is kind. She would withhold a painful truth to spare your feelings. And you've been a problem because she's under a lot of stress, and you're behavior can make it worse.” […] Garnet shook her head. “No... I will go first. I don't know what is beyond this door, but... while I am filled with apprehension, I do not think it is dangerous...” Slowly she opened the door, and on the other side was an empty room. Like the rest of Madain Sari, it had been abandoned long ago after a battle... In the middle of the room was a woman, standing bathed in a strange green light. “... Ah, welcome Princess Garnet.” Garnet backed up a bit. [Central Underground] Sama paused, crossing his arms. “Ankh-Morpork could work... if we could get them all there somehow. Hmm... Hey, what about those people we met in Ankh-Morpork? The Princess, and the Paladin, and that dude with the Key? Maybe we could contact them... but we'd still need someone inside Amestris...” |

Madain Sari “...She's not a liar, but she is kind. She would withhold a painful truth to spare your feelings. And you've been a problem because she's under a lot of stress, and you're behavior can make it worse.” "...I..." Steiner paused. "...surely she knows the value of honest speech! I must ask her all the same, and reflect on her advice!" His stubbornness, for better or worse, was starting to return. [...] “No... I will go first. I don't know what is beyond this door, but... while I am filled with apprehension, I do not think it is dangerous...” Didymus was about to protest when Garnet stepped in. He quickly followed after her. “... Ah, welcome Princess Garnet.” Didymus was wary. "What are you?" he asked, wishing to get right to the point, and stepping in front of Garnet/alongside her. What manner of "flicker of the past" can identify the present? |

[Madain Sari] Auron shook his head. Steiner was commendable... he was stubborn in his duty, and that was never a bad thing. Except that he had blinders on with his duty, and couldn't see the full picture. “Knight, you have no reason to trust me, but I ask that you consider my advice: Let her be. She is a Princess, and soon to be a Queen I believe... but at the same time, she's a teenager and a woman, and there are some things she has to contend with that you can't help with.” […] The woman chuckled a bit. “You're a blunt one, aren't you Sir Didymus? But... I can understand why.” The woman walked over to the center of the room, and suddenly there was a bright flash. When their eyes cleared, Garnet and Didymus would see the same room as it once had been – the walls repaired, beautiful paintings hanging, and no signs of destruction or decay. “... Once, Madain Sari was the birthplace of Summoning. In those days, powerful wizards used magical stones to imprison creatures of great power. Then, a tribe of people came together to battle the wizards. The creatures were freed... and the creatures agreed to serve the descendants of that tribe forever, out of choice. Ever since, all descendants of that tribe were born with the ability to call upon Summons without the use of magical spells or magical stones.” The woman turned back to Garnet and Didymus. “... Garnet, you were born in this village. One of two daughters born to the chief of this village...” |

Madain Sari “Knight, you have no reason to trust me, but I ask that you consider my advice: Let her be. She is a Princess, and soon to be a Queen I believe... but at the same time, she's a teenager and a woman, and there are some things she has to contend with that you can't help with.” Steiner looked like he was earnestly considering Auron's words for a moment. "Yes, she's in a tumoltuous time in her life...and there ARE some things about her experience I don't suppose I have a connection to...but I mean, she...wait..." As if building on this point, Steiner suddenly had a realization. "...t-thank you, sir!" he said. "You've helped me a GREAT deal!" That's IT! That kiss she gave Master Vivi, walking off with that Paladin, her age...the princess is seeking a companion! I MUST teach her the way a proper lady acts in such matters! ...of course, I suppose the general or someone else would be better, perhaps miss Yuna, but...I will have to do in a pinch! PURPOSE gleamed in his eyes now, as if he had indeed come to the heart of the matter and decided on a course of action. [...] Didymus was puzzled by all that was occurring, and raised an eyebrow as the woman spoke. "What? I mean, do the summons just listen, and come when they sense they are needed? They aren't actually a part of the summoner, and this "ability" amounts to no more than the attention and loyalty of these powerful creatures? Hmm..." He looked deep in thought for a moment. He HAD heard Yuna compare a summon to a horse or chocobo (as opposed to, say, a bodypart), before...but she summoned with magic, didn't she? Then, the strange woman spoke, and said something else... “... Garnet, you were born in this village. One of two daughters born to the chief of this village...” "You mean she has a sister." Wait. Yuna's comments about summons, her "innate ability" at it...her claims of being called by dreams to find Garnet... Didymus still regarded this woman, unsure of who she is. "But again I ask, who or what are you, and how do you know who we are?" |

[Madain Sari] Auron wasn't quite sure that Steiner got his meaning at all, but at least the knight wouldn't interfere in the matter of summoners. […] Garnet was... speechless. Much as she is for a great deal of FF9, Garnet found herself unable to speak. She was from Madain Sari? She was a natural, full-blooded Summoner? And... she had a sister? Garnet, who had lost her adoptive mother, and found only a cruel and evil man in her adoptive father... she who had never known her real family or her real heritage... now she had her heritage, and a sibling... The mystery woman, meanwhile, smiled to Didymus. “... My name is Aerith Gainsborough. I was a summoner who lived many years ago. In that time, a wicked and evil force tried to cultivate the power of summons for evil, uniting all the malevolent summons in a wicked union. That creature you battled – Diablos – was one of the most wicked of all.” “I battled against the evil forces, and in the end, prevailed. I was not alone... a warrior stood at my side... a warrior who I fear is lost now to darkness, but once he stood for virtue and goodness...” |

Madain Sari Didymus listened as the figure before him spoke, but did not return the smile in kind. His hand was on the hilt of his blade, as it had been. "You "were" a summoner who lived here? You suddenly can speak to us as though you know us, though we've never met? In the name of the Most High, what power is at work here?" This situation was...most suspicious, and he was likewise incredibly wary. He was almost certain it was time for an exorcism or something. |

[Madain Sari] Aerith paused, and she shook her head a bit. “You do not need your blade, Paladin. I am not your enemy. Yes. I was a summoner who lived here... and I still live here. We could not destroy the wicked forces, so we banished them... but to insure a safeguard in case they should ever return, the summons gave me some of their power.” She gave a small, soft smile. “I stopped aging that day... and I was bound to this spot. So you see, I am a memory of the past... for I have lived far older than I, or anyone, should have. I do not relish this life, but it is my responsibility.” She paused, and stepped forward. “I have waited, in the hopes that the last surviving summoners would come here... and now, they have.” |

Central Underground "Diplomacy seems like our best bet" Crystal said quietly, running a hand through her hair. She really didn't want Sama to just present himself to those who wanted him dead, but perhaps speaking through a middle man would work....Maybe. Unknown Forest For a moment Melanie looked liked her old self again, as her eyes widened in excitement at the sight of the city. The girl quickly grabbed Galv's arm and pulled him into the city.... They had made it to Central!...But central wasn't the greatest spot for kids at night. Of course Melanie had Kanna-confidence right now. Beware creepers. |

Madain Sari Didymus eyed Aerith, and slowly moved his hand from his blade. "Very well. I don't think I agree with what has been done here, but...I can respect the intent, at least in some capacity, I think...especially if you bear this as a burden." “I have waited, in the hopes that the last surviving summoners would come here... and now, they have.” ""They" have?" |

[Central Underground] Sama nodded eagerly. He could tell Crystal wasn't gun-ho about the idea, but he thought he might really be onto something! “Great! Then all we have to do is try to get in contact with those people we met before, or maybe someone else... ah, this will work perfectly!” Sama... your plans never work perfectly. [Central City] Just as Melanie and Galv entered the city, the duo bumped into a shadowy figure who was skulking around at night. He looked like this. D8 [Madain Sari] “Whether you agree or not is irrelevant; what is done is done.” Aerith pointed out. “And yes... They. Princess Garnet Til Alexandros, and High Summoner Yuna.” At this, Garnet finally stirred. “W-What?” Aerith nodded. “Yes. Though neither of you knew it, you were both born in this village, on the day of ruin for the summoners. You both possess the ability to summon without stones, and I believe the two of you are essential in what is to come next.” |

Central City While Melanie and Galv were probably too excited about finding a place to stay for the night to pay attention to where they were going, Melanie was in Kanna mode still....Which meant that she was going to blame everything on the guy that would blow their heads up. Yaaaaay. "Hey! Watch where you're going you weirdoooo-woaah..." Melanie trailed off, looking up at the man who was much taller than them both. It didn't intimidate her though. "What's you're problem!?" Central Underground "Sounds good....But how to we contact them...We're under ground! Our best bet is to get into the city perhaps...." |

And...does this mean...hm, fascinating. So, does this mean that my attentions have been vied for by a pair of sisters? "Well, lady Garnet..." Didymus said. "...what now, then?" Central underground "Well, what is this? I'd think that they'd trust me enough to let me know YOU were here." Hilda's voice came from the enterance to the cavern Sama, Crystal and co. were standing in, and there she was, flanked by her guards, a hint of a smile momentarily tugging at her mouth until it evened out again. "Well met, avatar." she said. |

[Central City] Scar looked down at Melanie as she mouthed off to him. GREAT IDEA MELANIE. “... My problem is this filth nation of infidels and blasphemers, who prattle on with their infernal magics and the dangerous alchemic arts. Those who seek to destroy everything for their own gain...” Scar paused. “You... are a witch. I sense your magic... one so young, can be so corrupted... come child... I shall cleanse your soul.” What he means is: Yo' head gonna go pop. [Central Underground] “I agree!” Sama grinned to Crystal – and then he heard a voice and frowned, turning as Hilda appeared, and apparently recognized Sama as the Avatar. The boy gulped. “... You're Hilda. A Queen, and the leader of Wild Rose... I've seen your picture before on Amestris' wanted posters, usually hanging next to mine.” Sama grinned. [Madain Sari] Aerith answered for Garnet. “Now... I shall teach both Garnet and Yuna the true secrets of summoning. Will you be so kind as to fetch Yuna for me?” |
