Road to Amestris Steiner was puzzled. "Gargan Roo? I...I've heard of it. Very well." he said. However, Zidane's manner was something that he still couldn't get over. "And "her majesty" or even a simple "Queen Brahne" will do quite nicely." he added with an irritated tone. Central City, Amestris-outside tavern Sheska was even more unnerved by Sama's look. There was something unsettling about it, as if he had a quarrel with the military... She quickly veered around them and broke into a brisk pace, bordering on a jog. "ThanksIgottagoseeyou!!!!" she called nervously as she went. Alexandria Castle-library Beatrix raised her visible eyebrow. "Truly, doctor? Truly? What, exactly, did you tell Captain Steiner and those others?" she asked. "They said that they had found a clue right after they came to see you? Please, Doctor, lend me some insight into this affair." She spoke cordially enough, but her tone, since Tot's reply, had gotten progressively colder and more pressing... Paladin Enclave Galahad nodded. "Indeed." he said. "Many a brother-or sister-has outperformed him or herself upon the field of real battle. Our blessings tend to manifest more in real situations, and here, you both showed fortitude and skill. Regardless, indeed, a good spar, a good spar indeed. Now go and rest up, both of you!" he said. Didymus, with a humble air about him, listened as Cid and Galahad spoke. "Thank you, elders." he said, and turning to Agrias, he grinned. "And Sister...um...thanks." he said, and chuckled. With that, he finally turned towards Garnet, and, in fact, walked over to her. "Thank you for your compliments, lady Garnet, but perhaps I should apologize. That's the second time I've been disarmed in front of you-although you were quite further away the first." he said with a weak smile. With that, he looked at his dinner plate, which Garnet was still holding. "I suppose I can have that back now?" he asked. |

Central City, Amestris-outside tavern Crystal Rose was a constantly happy, optimistic girl and she often expressed that to everyone, even people who she did not like, or felt had done herself or her friends wrong. So it was no surprise that she was trying to be kind to the woman clad in the military's clothes, Rose knew she had to give everyone a chance to prove their intentions, even if it was difficult. But she couldn't help but to notice Sama's expression, as well as his lack of words. She placed a hand carefully on his shoulder. "You alright?" she asked quietly as Sheska ran off in a rush. Road From Resembool Eva grinned and continued down the road, the two driving for quite a bit of time before Eva decided to speak. "So where are we headed? I'm not too sure where the closest city to here with a military post is...The only one i've ever actually noticed is Amestris" |

Road to Amestris Zidane shrugged his shoulders, stuffing a few extra flowers in his pocket in case they needed them later. There was no telling what could happen. Leading the way into the cave, Zidane stepped out onto a small platform that overlooked a wide, deep tunnel. The floor of the tunnel was several feet below them, and shrouded in an odd mist. "Miasma... that stuff breeds monsters, and can affect people in a bad way; be careful everyone." Zidane warned them; then be brandished the flower and a gigantic bug crawled over, it had a small cart hanging from its underbelly. "Quick, everybody on while the Gargan eats!" Central City, Amestris-outside tavern Sama noticed the look on Sheska's face as she ran off and he frowned. He had scared her away. Then Crystal approached him and he gave her a weak smile. "I'm fine... I just..." He shook his head. "No, I'm not fine! I was completely rude to that girl, and she didn't do anything to deserve it." He turned and ran after Sheska, hoping to catch her. "Hey, wait! I didn't mean to offend you..." He stopped after a moment and sighed. Turning back to the others, he was silent. The bad memories had gotten the better of him. Alexandria Castle-library Doctor Tot hesitated, and sat down on one of the library benches. He did not much like the situation he was in. Slowly, he began to speak. "Beatrix... Have you given any thought to the idea that the Princess was not kidnapped?" Tot asked quietly. Paladin Enclave Garnet gave a small smile and handed him his plate -- it would have to be cold by now. "That's quite alright, Sir Knight... I'm sure that when it truly matters, you'll be the winner." She gave him another smile. Road From Resembool Winry nodded, remembering that she had yet to tell Eva exactly where they were supposed to go. "Youswell! It's a coal mining town. There's a military outpost there. It's a pretty small town, though." |

Gargan Roo tunnel Steiner was shocked at what he was seeing, at first. "Amazing! Such a creature utilized for transportation!" He quickly hurried onto the cart, unafraid. If this was a giant oglop, on the other hand... Alexandria Castle-library "Not kidnapped?" Beatrix asked. She shook her head. "No. I suppose that it is POSSIBLE, but the thought has not entered my mind. In fact, finding her has not even been my concern until the "confession" we had before the queen just this evening...why do you bring this up?" she asked, still prying. Paladin Enclave Taking his plate, Didymus returned Garnet's smile, somewhat nervously, but gratefully. "Th-thank you. Indeed, Lord willing, I will be." He took his plate, and shortly began to eat. "So..." he finally said. "...do you wish to return to your quarters, or-" he said, waving his hand around, "-does the rest of the Enclave still catch your fancy? Or otherwise..." He sighed. This would sound corny. "...is there any other way I might serve you this evening?" |

Gargan Roo tunnel Vivi seemed afraid, but he got in the basket. He looked nervously up at the giant bug above them as it nibbled on the petals of the flowers Zidane had given it. "Only thing we need to worry about are worms." Zidane noted. Alexandria Castle-library Tot looked to Beatrix, and he decided to be frank and honest. She would get the truth out of him eventually anyway. "The Princess left of her own accord... she asked me not to tell anyone." Tot gave a little sigh. "As for the 'why'... that I can't tell you. She swore me to secrecy." Tot gave a small frown. "I'll be arrested now, I would think." Paladin Enclave Garnet shook her head. "I'd like to see the rest of the Enclave." She looked around, her worries temporarily forgotten. "You must understand... I've never been outside of the castle before, seeing another culture, another place... it's been fascinating." |

Gargan Roo tunnel Steiner paused. "Worms?" he asked. "What worms? Don't tell me...giant bug as a transport, giant worm-creatures as predators?" he asked. Alexandria Castle-library Beatrix was surprised. "You've withheld this information from the crown for this long?! But what about...that whole affair with that black mage was a ruse, wasn't it?" she asked. Paladin Enclave "I believe I do understand, lady." Didymus said. "But you've never been outside the castle? I believe you told me earlier that you used to sneak out to play with the other children in Alexandria City!" Nonetheless, Garnet was indeed in a very different place. Despite their historical alliance, Galdwin and Alexandria had immensely different cultures, differing stances on many things, from magic to gender roles in the society! "As for the rest of the Enclave, it's quite a tour, but where to begin? We've got several chapels, living quarters, and recreational grounds, and such, so perhaps I'll list the main "landmarks"...well, there's the main cathedral, the training grounds, the library, Elder's Hall and, well, the cemetery, and the Hall of Honor. Which one strikes your fancy?" Didymus asked. |

Gargan Roo tunnel Zidane shrugged his shoulders. "From what I've heard, there's giant worms called Ralvuimago that live in these tunnels... they're the Gargant's natural predator. But I'm not sure if this is the time or year they come out or not..." There was a very loud roar from ahead of them, a large shadow appeared in the mist. The Gargant stopped abruptly in his pace and seemed to shiver with fear. Zidane sighed. "... Okay, I think it IS the time of year they come out. Hey Rusty, you any good in an actual fight?" Alexandria Castle-library Doctor Tot nodded. He decided he may as well tell Beatrix the truth. "Indeed. The Black Mage, as I understand it, is a friend of that thief Zidane. At any rate... there is one more thing I should tell you, Beatrix. Princess Garnet... she left this castle out of concern for Her Majesty. Surely you have noticed the change in the Queen's demeanor since the King disappeared... Princess Garnet fears that her mother's recent decisions -- the wars -- are the result of a sickness infecting her judgment, and has gone to seek a cure." He shook his head. "I fear that if you bring her back before she feels she had done everything she can to help Her Majesty, Princess Garnet will be heart broken. I would ask you to consider that." He knew Beatrix was a servant of Queen Brahne, and he doubted very much she would ever go against the Queen's orders. Still, Tot had to make everything he knew known to her. Paladin Enclave Garnet shook her head. "That's different... I snuck out into town a few times, but I could never really do much without getting caught... I wanted to see something besides Alexandria." The Princess thought about her choices for a moment, and then shook her head. "Could we see the library? I have always liked books..." |

Central City, Amestris-outside tavern "I'm sure she wasn't offended" Crystal said happily "She just seemed like she was in a hurry....Sorta strange though." With a pause Crystal's voice grew quiet "Perhaps we should go" she offered, not sure if it would be smart for Galv to hear. "We should probably start looking for that man Ansem told us about" Road From Resembool Eva gave a nod, she had actually seen a sign for theat town on her way to Resembool, it probably wouldn't be too far out of the way. "Coal mining town eh?" Eva asked with excitement, often towns such as that were tough, meaning that there would probably be some excitment! After quite awhile passing fields and valleys Eva started to notice the scenery change to something that would be seen near mines. Large hills took up most of the scenery and the smell of industy and buring coal was in the air. Eva couldn't help but to wrinkle her nose slightly but continued on. They were probably close. |

Gargan Roo tunnel Steiner may have been offended, but being asked about his combat prowess caused him to grin a bit. "The only man who's bested General Beatrix in a spar!" he said, drawing his sword. Alexandria Castle-library Beatrix shook her head. "Heartbroken? The princess's emotional state is secondary to my duty." she said. A quick battle took place in her mind. She had indeed noticed a change in Brahne's not only demeanor, but also manner and actions, as well as appearance, over the past year. However, it was not her position to question her. She WAS somewhat concerned over Brahne's judgement, but if Tot had been withholding information...still, there may be more information she could get out of him... "I shan't report you, doctor." she said. "However, I SHALL report this information to her majesty. You and I are going to have some more conversations...I do hope you will help me carry out my duty..." she said, an edge in her voice in the last bit of that sentence. She stood, and gave a nod to Tot. With that, she left the library... Alexandria castle-Brahne's chambers Once again, Beatrix approached Brahne's throne and knelt. She was somewhat uneasy addressing Brahne, but she had news that it was her duty to report. "Your majesty..." she said. "...I have dire news. An...informer...I have spoken with in my own meager investigation into your daughter's disappearance has told me that...that we may have been betrayed! Not only do I have reason to believe that that black mage was merely an imposter, and that even Captain Steiner was involved in the charade with those youths, but, and worst of all..." she paused. "...my investigation has suggested that your daughter may have left the castle of her own will..." she said. Paladin Enclave Didymus smiled. "Very well. Come along." With that, he led Garnet to another building in the Enclave and entered it. Inside was a considerable library, about which several other Paladins walked to and fro, getting books, reading them, etc. "Welcome to the Enclave Library, Lady Garnet!" Didymus said. "For centuries, the Order's book collection has grown, and now, as you can see, it's dwarfed by, for example, the library in Amestis's capital city, but still, good enough. We have all sorts of books, theological works, many written by our brothers, various translations of the Bible, literary classics, and more! In fact...we even have manuscripts written by monks from before the Order's founding. It was here that I got that copy of "I Want to Be Your Canary" I offered you. So, look around, see what we've got." he said, smiling again. |

(Man, I missed stuff here! Darn not getting replies...) -Gargan Roo Tunnel- “I can fight!” Sora said, his Keyblade appearing in a flash of light, swinging it idly, “So I can help take down any enemies...” “I know some healing spells...But that's it...” Kairi answered, “I'm not to good in a fight, but I'm learning!” “Hey, healing's important!” Sora said, “Believe me, a Cure at the right time can turn a battle around.” -Amestries: Central City- Galv paused, watching as Sama went after the girl, then came back, then Crystal whisper to Sama about finding the person Ansem wanted them to find. Of course, he hadn't heard her though. “The enemy of my enemy is my ally,” Galv spoke up, “Bradley's speech earlier...He was declaring war on my nation...On Paladins...I need to report this information as soon as possible, but I also need to find allies with Amestries here...You are Benders, enemies of this nation as well...We can help each other, I believe...” |

Central City, Amestris Sama still felt a bit uneasy about what had happened, but when Crystal reminded him of their newly appointed mission he nodded. "That's right! There's someone going around using a bending-like power and calling it alchemy... someone like that is sure to draw the military's attention, and we gotta find him before Bradley does!" The Avatar was psyched up. This was a chance to get back against Bradley directly. Suddenly, though, Galv interjected and offered to help and Sama grinned to the Paladin. "More allies are always good! Especially in a situation like this..." He paused for a moment, reflected on Galv's words. "... Although I wouldn't say we're enemies of this nation... the people here are just misguided. It's the corrupt officials at the top I want to bring down. Fuhrer Bradley and his ilk..." Alexandria castle-Brahne's chambers Beatrix was a brave and valiant knight who served her Queen and country with honors. At one point, that had meant the world to Queen Brahne... with her mind now lost to darkness, it meant nothing. "What!?" Brahne growled in such a fearsome way when Beatrix explained her newly found information that several of the knights in the room flinched and backed up. "You say the Princess left of her own free will? ... FOOL! Garnet has no free will, she is to do as I say! As are you!" Brahne slammed her fist on the edge of her throne. "Bah! Incompetent!" "If I may make a suggestion...?" If the door had opened, no one had noticed it. A heavily armored man appeared in the room, wearing a purple cape. Several knights quickly drew their swords, but Brahne waved them off. "It's fine!" She squawked. "What is it?" The knight -- Garland -- stepped forward, but did not kneel nor bow to the Queen. "I have a means to capture both the Princess and the traitors Steiner leads against you. I shall send a powerful knight called Nightmare to find and eliminate Steiner's rebellion, and I shall send the Black Waltz to find Garnet. Brahne hesitated. "It will work? You are certain?" Garland nodded. "Of course... you have nothing to worry about. I shall carry out the orders immediately." Garland turned and left. Never had Brahne actually agreed to or given any orders; but she seemed fine with it. Gargan Roo Tunnel Zidane nodded to the rag-tag crew and jumped out of the basket, running ahead through the mist. He paused and looked back at them. "Oh yeah... we gotta make this fast; it's dangerous to breathe in the mist too long, and we'll be in it through the entire tunnel!" The monstrous worm have a horrible screech. Looking down at all the little creatures, it spit a glob of a foul smelling green gel at Zidane; but he was fast as lightning and able to dodge it with expert timing. Then the creature whipped around, and tried to smash Steiner with his tail! Youswell, Coal Mining Town Close they were! The two youths had just crossed into the city limits of Youswell. It was a rather bleak and depressing town. The air was rich with smog from the burning coal, and the houses were covered in a thin layer of soot like black snow. The few people who were on the streets looked down, or angry. As the bike approached one of those people, Winry looked over to him. "Excuse me... do you know where we can find the military base?" The man gave a rough grunt. From his dirty overalls, it seemed he worked in the mines. "You can't miss Yoki's place... only damn mansion we got in town -- and only place not covered in coal. But I tell ya this, missy, if you're buddies with those damn dogs, I'd keep out of the rest of this town." Winry gave a pause, and frowned. The man had walked away before she got a chance to ask any further questions, but even without extra conversation she could tell Youswell was a town in bad shape. She had read about such places in Ed's letters, but never seen them with her own eyes before. Paladin Enclave Garnet looks around the library with fascination for several minutes. At first it probably seemed she was just looking to get a feel for what they had, but after a while it became apparent she was looking for something particular. "... Say, Brother Didymus?" She asked, a slight frown at her inability to find it. "Do any of these books have maps in them?" |

Alexandria Castle-Brahne's chambers Beatrix's expression remained firm. "Regardless, my queen, she may not have been kidnapped. As for doing what you say..." She sighed. "...what, then, would you have me do?" she asked. Doubts and questions plagued her mind all around. Who was that armored man? How could he manipulate Brahne so easily? What, exactly, was going on? She may have fancied herself Steiner's better, but she knew that he was loyal, if a bungler. There was something amiss...but even in Brahne's dementia, Beatrix remained her loyal general... ...at least for now. Paladin Enclave-library Didymus nodded. "Of course. In fact...if you're looking for maps...then follow me." With that, if she were to follow him, he would take her to a shelf covered in... "Atlases. Maps of all sorts. Historical military campaigns, current political/geographic maps, and more. If I may ask, what is it you're after, exactly?" he said. Gargan Roo tunnel Unlike the agile thief Zidane, Steiner was a knight, clad in full plate. Mobility was not his specialty. Although he did make to dodge, he likely would not get out of the way entirely, and as such, turned a thicker part of his armor towards the incoming blow and brought his own broadsword around in hopes of slicing it into the worm-creature's flesh before he was hit! |

Seaside Town Yuna nodded, a small smile on her face. A larger group would be good for traveling through the mysterious new continent. She looked out the edge of the town, towards the horizon. They had to travel a great deal to get to Alexandria. Alexandria Castle: Brahne's Chambers Queen Brahne grunted towards her favorite knight. "Isn't it obvious? I want you out looking for Garnet, too! We need everyone looking for the Princess! Now hurry up--" "No. That's the wrong move." Garland brazenly interrupted the Queen. Either he had no respect for the crown, or he had some ulterior reason to believe she would not be angry. "You cannot forget the other nations... if Galdwin should find the Princess, surely they will use her against you." "It would be wiser to prepare the Airship Fleet, should we need them..." Garland 'suggested'. Brahne paused for a moment . . . and then she nodded. "You're right! Beatrix, you heard him! Prepare the Red Rose!" Paladin Enclave: Library Garnet quickly looked through the maps, a suddenly look of determination on herself. She quickly pushed through some various books and atlases; and after a moment she grabbed a couple of them. "This!" Garnet grinned suddenly, holding two of the maps. One was a map of Amestris, one that showed several roads between the five major cities. The second was a map showing the military campaign against the Spiral Islands. "Is there any way I could borrow these maps?" Garnet asked. She had a deadly serious look on her face. "I'll return them before we leave, I just want to study them and make some copies." Gargan Roo tunnel The giant worm gave a screech as Steiner stabbed its stomach and it gave a large roar that shook the tunnel. Suddenly, the worm turned and fled. It was not dead... not even close to being dead... but it seemed to be fleeing... Zidane scratched his head. "... Nice job, Rusty! Let's get going before that thing gets back." |

Alexandria Castle-Brahne's chambers Beatrix resisted the urge to glare at the armored man. "Yes, my queen." she said, and arose, quickly walking out. Thoughts plagued her. The armored man's hostility against Galdwin...why? Their cultural differences were immense, true, and she had little doubt that Galdwin had spies in various locations within her country-especially considering Brahne's growing madness...but despite that, she had seen that Galdwin did not intend to break its alliance with Alexandria, not that she had seen. It was true, Galdwinian armies were amassing on the Alexandrian border...but that was likely because of the fact that their border with Amestris was well-fortified, and Amestris would be attempting to invade Galdwin through Alexandria! Their ambassadors had asked for military access just that very day! Her thoughts about strategy, diplomacy-she was a general-and her own personal dilemma gnawing away, Beatrix eventually made her way to... The Red Rose Brahne's personal airship, the Red Rose, was docked in Alexandria City, a short distance away from the castle. Beatrix had arrived and put the crew into double-time making sure it was ready. Soon, she sent word back that the Rose was ready for Brahne's arrival. Gargan Roo tunnel Steiner nodded, and climbed back into the cart. In response to Zidane's thanks, and his "nickname", he quickly added: "Thank you. And "Captain Steiner", or even simply "Steiner", will suffice." he said wearily. Paladin Enclave-library Didymus looked on with interest as Garnet picked out some maps. "Umm...certainly!" he said. "Hold on..." with that, he walked off, and returned with an older Paladin. "Lady Garnet wishes to borrow those maps for the night. Is that alright?" he said. "Certainly. She's welcome to any book we have." the bookkeeper-Paladin replied. "I would love to stay and chat, but I'm rather busy. The new declaration of war has resulted in the checkout of MANY of our military history books-and I must make sure the records are straight. Although I would be interested in knowing what the lady thinks of our library." he said, with a look to her. If she were to comment, he'd stay to listen, and then, either way, he'd be off again. Didymus looked back to Garnet. "Lady, if I may ask..." he said. "...I realize how very useful the map of Amestris may be, but why are you checking out the atlas concerning the military history of the Spiran Cluster? Oh, and another thing-you don't need to call me "brother". Just "Didymus" will suffice. Seriously. If we're going into Amestris, it would be best if you did NOT say my title in public." He grinned. "So, is that all you wanted here? If so, where to next? Also...another question...I've been meaning to ask you about your plan...I think you must don a new alias yourself. Me, my name is safe enough, I think, but you? If I'm going around calling you "Lady Garnet" in public while we're in Amestris, I think that stands a considerable chance of undermining our intents..." He chuckled. "Don't you?" he asked. |
