“I doubt it's a scam,” Cess said to Sam, “There's a war going on right now, and they need all the help they can get.”

He paused, “We don't want to be on the same side as Galdwin...they don't support magic at all.”

He stepped forward, Cess waving his hand towards the second person, “Hey, we'd like to help aid Alexandria!”

Cess paused, and looked to Shimera. He didn't like the idea of Shimera having to fight though...Maybe they would let her come along anyways?

“My friend and I wish to join up,” Cess said, and motioned to Sam, “Is it possible that we can bring...errr...” he paused. He needed a good reason for Shimera to come along with them anyways... “Errr...my fiance? She can help in other ways, and fight if she has to.”

He hoped Shimera wouldn't kill him.

-Mt Knolts-

Spork held up his sword and focused, the diamond blade shattering, creating chunks of diamond, and he moved them forward through the air, trying to slice up the bird!

-Kilika Island-

Sora took the book, looking at it with a sigh. He sat down on the rock and started to read through it.

-Small Town-

Levina and Kanna walked to the dining area, and as they did, Levina talked.

“Well, I'm a bit new here, but I've heard some. He mostly hires pretty girls from the town to tend to the house,” Levina answered, “Usually younger then me, but he needed someone older to be able to keep them in line. I've heard he might be a bit of a, well, player, but I haven't seen anything. He spends a lot of time alone in his study...Not sure what he does there though.”

Sam looked at Cess with a small grin. Well, you'd certainly like the idea of calling her your fiancee. "Yes, she certainly can help us." He looked toward the second person, gripping his blade tightly.

"Fiancee?" Shimera thought. She was going to say that out loud, but she knew better. Cess was planning something.

The Star-Maiden decided to just smile and go along with the story.

[Kilika Island]

Cecil looked to the three strange girls who had appeared. Rikku, the Al Bhed girl, Yuna the High Summoner of Spira, and Garnet – the Princess of Alexandria.

“... What an interesting and beautiful entourage you travel with brother. I'll admit, I do not recall too many of our order who travel with so many young women.”

He chuckled a bit, even as Yuna and Garnet both paused and blushed a bit. Lulu shot him a dark glare.

[Flashback]

Garnet gulped, and then she could heard Steiner yelling from outside. She gasped, and suddenly looked to Didymus.

“... Yes, please! Take me with you now, and let us head out the back way, now, right now.”

[Mt Kolts]

The Giant Chicken roared (clucked?) and jumped at Sama, but luckily it was splashed with a wave of water and partially frozen by Crystal. Then, it was showered in diamond shards by Spork's sword, slicking the chicken several times.

Sama looked around, and then he formed a rock on the ground and kicked it at the chicken, It was struck and fell back.

Sama let loose a sigh and walked forward, collapsing against the wall. “Man... what the heck was that?”

He looked down at the two small pieces of the golden bug. “Wonder what these are?”

“... What an interesting and beautiful entourage you travel with brother. I'll admit, I do not recall too many of our order who travel with so many young women.”

Didymus blushed as well, but unlike Yuna or Garnet, he actually started laughing, however softly.

"Oh no, I hope this isn't causing you to question my devotion. Hahaha. Seriously, though, indeed, you yourself noted it was unusual company."

He turned to the girls (or whoever was watching).

"Again, may I introduce Brother Cecil, another in the Order. And, finally, brother, this is Yuna. She's...she is the current holder of the title "High Summoner" here in the Cluster. The two of us go back a bit, as well..."

"And you STILL haven't told!" Rikku had to get that in.

"Indeed I haven't. Take that up with your cousin, if you are so inclined."

"Aww..." Rikku said, having realized that attempting that was a futile endevour, at least for now.

"There are others, as well..." Didymus said.

"That man sleeping there is Sir Steiner, one of Lady Garnet's bodyguards, and captain of their "Knights of Pluto"...that boy that was training their was named "Sora" I think...then there's a black mage boy and another guy with a tail who were around here somewhere...then..."

He paused.

"There were a couple members of that "Dark Order" around..." he said a tad warily.

He looked at the roof.

"I think that's one of them..."

His expression brightened a bit.

"Then there's a red-haired girl named "Kairi"...an airship pilot who graciously took us here...another one of Yuna's guardians...that may be about it..."

He looked back at Garnet.

"So this is who's here, lady." he said. "Is there anything else I can do for you? Any of you?" he asked.

Flashback-Alexandria City

“... Yes, please! Take me with you now, and let us head out the back way, now, right now.”

"The back way...?"

He looked to the minister, who himself looked a tad suspicious and on alert, but spoke.

"I'll let Brother Harris know where you're going. Take care."

Didymus nodded.

"Very well, miss." he said. "Let's go."

In a moment, they were out the back way, making their way through the streets once again.

"Where exactly IS it that you needed to go, miss?" Didymus asked.

Of course, Steiner and his men were roaming the streets at this point...

Treno

The Alexandria-supporter looked over at the group, and slowly nodded.

"Very well. Alexandria's army is predominately female anyway..." he said.

"Come along." He started taking the group through the streets, to a convoy of wagons, loaded up with many kinds of people. Grizzled swordsmen, eager mages, archers, and a general sampling of a good deal of adventurous-looking and mercinary types.

"Climb aboard." he said.

“Hello,” Kairi said to the new Paladin Cecil, nodding her head, “Nice to meet you. I'm Kairi.”

Sora, who put the book away for now, also appeared, “Hi!” he waved, then turned to Kairi, and started showing her the book and talking to her about it.

-Mt Knolts-

“They're shiny...” Hammah said, bending down to look at them, picking one up. Spork brought his diamond shards back, as they reformed his sword, sheathing it.

“Be careful Hammah...” he said, worried.

-Treno-

“Sorry,” Cess said quietly to Shimera, getting near her as they headed to the wagons, “War is...not a pretty thing...And I don't want you getting hurt out there, or someone finding out about your abilities.”

He looked around, finding a mostly empty wagon, holding out his hand to help Shimera up.

Crystal peered over Sama's shoulder at the strange gold bug pieces. While it was VERY creepy it was also rather pretty. Hammah then took one of the pieces, inspecting it closely.

"I wonder whose they were originally, I mean gold really isn't much use to a giant chicken right?" She then took the other piece from Sama's hand and placed it to her collarbone, imagining it as a piece to a necklace. "It's really nice, would make a good necklace"

Small Town

"So he's a recluse playboy...That's...interesting....Well I suppose that explains why he was willing to take such a meager dowry" Kanna said, following down the long hall and keeping up the idle chit chat with the other woman.

"I suppose you will be the one watching over my daughter when they get married? Be sure to keep an eye on the creep. My child is still young and I expect that boy to treat her like a princess, and not property."

"...Do note that she can restrain herself. Using simple, basic magic will suffice...we just need to keep the wishing private, if we really must." Sam whispered to the both of them.

"I'd like to make something clear: I want KxS back with us...and if this is a means of quick strengthening, then sure, I'm all in. But I'd like us to make a promise that we'll all be alive after this is done." Sam spoke determinedly. "And I'd suggest we to find her...and bring her back after all this." Sam looked at Shimera.

"But before anything else..." His voice hushed down to a whisper again. "...If anything happens during the full moon, I need you two to restrain me before I do any serious damage to anyone on our side...alright? Use my weapon against me if you must."

[Flashback]

Garnet had to think of a way out of this. She could not stay with this stranger, but she also could not allow herself to be found by Steiner. She would returned to Alexandria Castle later, but for now she wanted to see the city!

If Steiner found them now, though, Didymus would be arrested as a kidnapped and executed... and the execution of a Templar would likely prompt a rather nasty incident between Alexandria and Galdwin...

She had not considered that before. She gulped, and decided she must ditch the boy.

“... I'm sorry!” She ran suddenly down an alleyway off to the side, not realizing the danger she was in. Alexandria was a gathering spot for thieves, and the alleys were dangerous. Alleyway Jack was known as the top thief, but there were many dangerous ones running around.

One of them ran into Garnet.

“Oi!”

Or rather, Garnet ran into him; literally. She did not watch as she ran and she ended up running into the thief. He was a tall man with a wicked visage.

“Oi, you'll pay for that!” He suddenly raised a dagger above his head, ready to bring it down onto Garnet's hooded face...

[Kilika Island]

Cecil nodded to the group.

“Hello.” He looked to Kairi, and then Sora, and then Garent, Yuna and Rikku. “I am Cecil, of the Paladin Order. I have long traveled these lands on a quest... but that is neither here nor there. It is a pleasure to meet you all, but for now.”

[Mt Kolts]

Sama watched as Hammah played with a piece of the strange golden scarab, and then he looked to Crystal as she seemed to be pretending the other half was jewelry. He snickered a bit at them both, and then looked over to their fallen enemy.

“Somehow, I don't think the chicken was their original owner. Rumor has it that before Amestris took over these mountains, there was some weird old wizard who lived here. The stories say he spent his whole life looking for a magical object that could grant wishes!”

He paused, wondering if these scarabs could possibly be that wish-granting object, or in some way connected to it.

“... Huh. I wonder what happens if we combine them both?”

"Granting wishes eh? That would be really cool!"

Crystal looked down at the gold piece in her hand, wondering if what Sama was saying could possibly be true. She walked over to Hammah and held out her hand, looking to the piece she had. "May I see that?" she asked sweetly, intent on figuring out what would happen if the piece were put together.

Flashback: Alexandria City

Suddenly, this girl had ditched him, with an apology?

Was she afraid that he would be caught up in her problems?

Regardless, he perhaps a tad caught up in the moment, he chased after her.

"Hey! Wait! Miss!"

She was ahead of him...and she collided with a rather thuggish-looking sort...

...who demonstrated that "thug" was a mild term for him when suddenly he was raising a dagger over the girl's head-for bumping into her?

Didymus couldn't hesitate. He wasn't a full Paladin, but he had been training for years.

Sprinting with a silent prayer, he was upon the two, and had pulled his sword out, bringing it up to deflect the blow and, he hoped, disarm the thug!

Kilkia Island

“I am Cecil, of the Paladin Order. I have long traveled these lands on a quest... but that is neither here nor there. It is a pleasure to meet you all, but for now.”

Rikku had giggled a bit at Cecil's complimenting of her.

"Another Paladin? You guys seem okay to me." she said.

"But for now...?" Didymus wondered. Perhaps he means that at least for now, as he's here with us...?

"Well, it is good to get these introductions out of the way, I suppose we can conclude what remains of them in the morning. For now, though, perhaps it is best if we get some rest. I know that some of my shift on watch remains, brother, if you'd like a shift, simply say so, otherwise, good night, I hope you all sleep well. And come to think of it...brother, maybe you should use my mat, and I shall use the mat of Captain Steiner there who I thikn has next watch, and he the mat of the one after him, and so on and so forth. Hey, maybe we don't need another mat after all."

He turned to the girls.

"Good night, ladies. And again..." he regarded Lulu. "...thank you for your hospitality."

Treno-wagon convoy

The wagons started to move out.

"Get some rest, if you can." another sellsword said.

"We've got all night to get to the front. You'd best be as rested as can be when we get there." he added.

Hammah looked up at Crystal, then smiled and nodded, handing her the other half of the golden scarab.

Garet was poking the giant chicken with his sword. He was kinda hungry.

-Small Town-

“No and yes,” Levina answered, “No, in the fact I'm suppose to just be a supervisor, but yes, since I wouldn't want my own daughter in this situation. I'll look after her.”

She paused, thinking, “Are you sure you want her to go through with this?”

-Wagon Convoy-

Cess nodded, pulling out a small vial of dirt, muttering. The dirt twitched, and created a small golem to keep an eye on things for them.

He sat next to Shimera of course.

[Mt Kolts]

Sama nodded.

“It would be pretty cool...”

He wondered what he would wish for. The restoration of the Bending Valley was the obvious choice. The fall of Amestris would probably benefit all of humanity for decades to come. Something like that... that was the responsible thing... the noble, Avatar thing...

He paused... no, he couldn't be selfish. Not with a wish... which he realized he didn't even have yet.

He paused as he looked to Crystal, who now had both halves of the scarab.

“You know... I'm not sure what would happen if you put those together, but I sense some powerful magic... maybe we should wait? We've had a long, long day and I'd rather not get into some crazy adventure yet... maybe we should all get some sleep?”

[Kilika Island]

The girls returned to the house, while Cecil headed outside with the other boys. The nighttime was hitting strong, and the time had come to sleep.

Yet, as night descended and the group fell off to sleep, Garnet sat in her bed, remembering something that happened years ago... something she had not thought of in a long time, but that suddenly sprang back into her mind...

And as she lost herself in her thoughts, a figure watched the group.

[Small Town]

Rica sat alone in the back of his wagon, looking at a small object on the palm of his hand. He grinned at it, and gave a smile... it was strength...

Strength he would soon use.

[T.I.M.E.<skip>]

The next morning...

[Mount Kolts]

Sama awoke with a yawn. He sat up and rubbed his head, and for a moment he was thinking of nothing. Then he remembered that they had found strange golden bugs, and that they were in a strange cave, in Amestris.

“... Morning everyone!” He called to the others, jumping up. “Well, we can grill the chicken monster for breakfast, or we can investigate those golden bugs!”

[Kilika Island]

As Garnet awoke, she jumped out of the bed, dressed quickly and ran off to find Didymus. She had to find out if her memory was accurate.

[Flashback]

SLASH!

The thug was slashed, losing grip on his knife as blood sprayed from his arm. Garnet clenched her eyes shut as she was sprayed with the sticky liquid, and she stumbled back, wide eyed and in fear.

“P-Please! My pendant! He stole it, you must get it back...”

"Ugggh, wake me up in twenty minutes Samaaaaa" Crystal mumbled from her spot on the ground, curled up and still looking very tired. She only kept her pink eyes open for a moment before turning and closing them once more.

...But then she remembered the golden bug.

Daaaarn...That meant she had to wake up.

"This bug better be awww-*yawn*-sooommmee"

Small Town

Melanie had to admit that the bed Ryan provided for her was comfortable, leaving her awake and alert early in the morning. Despite this she was still troubled, obviously worried that she was one day closer to marrying a strange guy that she knew little about.

Melanie got dressed and wandered around the hallways, looking for the dining room. Her stomach was forcing her to explore a bit...

Kilkia Island

Morning. It was beautiful, the sun was shining bright and warm, reflecting off the water.

...as it was, Didymus and Steiner both were still asleep. After the events of the past few days, they were trying to get as much rest as they could.

If Garnet stepped outside, she would be able to see her bodyguards well enough, both snoring, or mumbling, or just breathing, or whatever they did in their sleep as they lay on their mats. Whoever was on watch would probably be up to greet her, though.

Inside, even Rikku was still asleep.

Flashback: Alexandria City

Oh dear...

...Didymus hadn't been aiming for the man himself, just the knife...did he move, or was his own aim off?

Either way, the knife was gone and the girl was safe, but he was bleeding...

“P-Please! My pendant! He stole it, you must get it back...”

"STOP! PLEASE!" Didymus cried at the thug, running up and wresting him to the ground...

He looked over him, finding the pendant, but held the bleeding arm up, trying to get gravity working against the wound...

He seemed unconcerned with the pendant for now, instead, he tried to quiet his mind and call out in prayer...he held a hand over the wound...

...he was unsure if this was right...but if his own beliefs on the subject were correct, healing would only come at the behest of the Almighty anyway...

Alexandrian Army Camp

The wagon convoy had traveled all night, and had finally arrived. Alexandria's all-female military (almost, at least) was out in force-their airships in the sky, and spearwomen, mages (most particularly the creepy black mages with the glowing eyes, that did not talk to anyone and went about their tasks in a manner that could be described as mechanical), and more in camps and tents all around.

The wagons stopped.

"Alright, everyone out!" one person cried.

"Here's the deal-we're still taking about the exact details of how the Alexandrians want to use us-I think that they're having their own meeting over there in that tent-" their guide pointed at a rather large tent in the middle of the camp.

Just as he pointed, a brown-haired women in light chainmail, with a large sword and a white patch over her right eye, emerged from the tent, and started heading over to them.

"Hey! That's...all of you be polite! That's Alexandria's most famous general, Beatrix!" their guide ordered.
