Kilika Island Inside Rikku looked over at Garnet. She looked...spaced out. Sad. Rikku herself looked genuinely concerned. "...you sure? You look...kind of...troubled..." She really did mean well. Outside Excellent... my name is Cecil. I am of the Paladin Order, the same as you... tell me, how is Galdwin fairing? I have not seen it in... why, it must be ten years now... Didymus nodded. "Well met, brother. Galdwin..." Didymus paused. "...is as it has been for centuries. Our people still work hard, honor God, and seek peace. Ten years, though, you say? Much has happened, in the name of PRESERVING what has been for centuries. The military has been built-and with good reason. The "inevitable" war with Amestris has finally broken out. And Alexandria joins them. So far, we've fared well enough, but I pray we can end this bloodshed quickly, and hopefully make a difference for good...I can go into more detail, if you like." He sighed. "But if I may ask...ten years, you've been away from Galdwin, and suddenly you find us here? May I ask what you were doing here, perhaps what's kept you so long?" Flashback: Alexandria City Didymus was a tad startled as the girl grabbed him. Please, you must hide me! There is... ah... someone after me! My father owes some money to a local crime lord, and if they catch me, they will ransom me! He paused for a moment, offered up a silent prayer, and spoke. "Come on." he said. "Make sure we aren't being followed and come with me." He didn't want to get involved with local affairs that could get people hurt, but he was a Paladin (in training, at least). Helping people with a part of the job. He flew, so to speak, holding to Garnet with one hand, the notes in the other, before they finally arrived at a small church by the docks. (Yes, a port of the one in the game.) Didymus looked around, then opened the door and stepped inside. He didn't think, hadn't felt/been told they were being followed... "Minister?" Didymus asked. A man-an Alexandrian, appearently the church's minister, stepped forward. "Templar Didymus, back already, the play's not over." "I know, but my elder brother wished for me to give you these notes for your consideration before you retired for the evening, minister. And this girl..." He gestured at Garnet. "...she says that her father owes a crime lord money, that she'll be held ransom if they find her." "Oh?" the minister asked. He looked the girl over. "May I see your face, child?" he asked. |

[Kilika Island] Cecil nodded as Didymus explained on their home, and he shook his head. ... No. It does my very soul good to hear of our nation's continued prosperity. God continues to bless us. As He has to me, this day, for I believe at last my journey is nearing an end... He gave a sigh of relief and stretched his shoulders. His face was clearly weathered from the elements, as were his robes. Still, the man seemed happy, content even, despite being in substandard condition. ... Ten years ago, Elder Cidolfus Orlandu took me to the side and presented me with a sword. He told me that it had been passed down for generations, always guarded and enshrined by the Paladin Order. I was told to take it, but never use it. To guard it... and not to return to Galdwin until it had passed from me. He shook his head. I did not understand, but I did as was asked of me... I have wandered this world, and seen and done much. Then, a year ago, as I was sojourning in a small town, suddenly did I feel His presence guiding me... and I have been led here. He nodded. I knew that I would find a Paladin here... the one in our Order whom the sword was to pass to. It may be you... He paused. ... but, I cannot say for sure... tell me, Brother Didymus, why are you here in Kilika, a island of the mages of Spira? [ ] Lulu crossed her arms. ... You're on a island that is part of Spira. We are a nation of mages, and the land of the Summoners. Lulu stated matter-of-factly. Sensing magic from such a place is not uncommon. In fact, considering the strongest Black Mage in all of Kilika is standing before you, I would be shocked if you DIDN'T feel my magic! She shook her head. ... No matter. So long as you are not foe, you are welcome here. [Small Town] Rica sighed and shrugged his shoulders as Ethan appeared, glaring at him. I say, my good fellow, no reason for us to argue. I realize you take your job of body guard very seriously... but Kanna seems like a big girl, she can make her own choices. If she were to ask me to leave, I would happily leave... then, it was I who found her daughter... hmm... dropped the ball on that, did you? Yes, Rica is an asshole, why do you ask? [Mt. Kolts] The rocks hit the chicken, and it flew backwards! Sama dashed forward and snatched up the beetle half as it fell, pocketing it with the half he had found earlier. Luckily both halves were now covered in pocket nachos, so they would not accidentally join yet! Sama jumped back, and frowned. Okay, crazy lizard chicken was scary, but we beat it pretty easy... The chicken was down... until it started eating one of the mushrooms... and then it began to grow... [Flashback] Garnet hesitated to remove her hood, and backed up. Ah... I would rather not... you see, my father's life could be in danger if anyone knew who I was, so... Garnet was trying to come up with some kind of excuse. |

Kilika Island Didymus listened intently as Cecil spoke, his intrigue growing the further in his tale he got. The account of Cecil's assignment was written, and Didymus was familiar with it, as his studies came flooding back to him...as well as the knowledge of the sword he spoke of. "You...it is an honor to finally meet you in person, Brother Cecil." Nothing more needed be said. Occasionally, a sword would be held by the Order as a historical artifact, if not a relic due to blessing upon it. Of those such swords, there was one... "You speak of passing THAT blessed blade...I..." He hung/bowed his head. This was moving. "I..." He looked up again. "...as I have said, Galdwin now is at war with Amestris AND Alexandria. The elves, as they have been for centuries, mostly remain in their own lands not concerned with the rest of the world. The dwarves are bogged down in their own politics and I hear of a new orc and goblin push against them...and now, it seems, here in the Spiran Cluster, things get even more tense. Even if we CAN win by strength of arms as things are, the bloodshed on both sides will be...considerable." He paused. "However...not all in the Alexandrian government would seek to destroy us. The Order prayed on it, and I do believe that this is a mission from the Most High...I am currently serving as bodyguard to Garnet til Alexandros XVII, who stands to claim the Alexandrian throne. Though it appears she does not see eye-to-eye with us on many issues-many important ones, in fact...she's a gentle soul who deplores the dark path her country is walking down. She would seek peace. She's a chance to END this conflict with Alexandria short of our nation or hers burning to the ground. So it appears that I have a task: to safeguard her, protect her, and in so doing safeguard all the lives that are tied to her own-even offering my life for hers, should it come to that. Though I pray it doesn't." He chuckled a bit, before continuing. "I can't say I agree with everything she's done or is doing...but here I remain nonetheless, as I think is ordained, so that I can offer what protection and what ministry I can, in His name..." He paused. "I apologize if that was more long-winded than necessary, maybe the weight of your story made me want to tell my own in an epic manner...maybe I even was trying to sound important since you mentioned the notion of me carrying Excalibur-hopefully not. I...I pray that you, and we all, receive clear vision and heed our callings here, brother." He leaned back, and looked around. "So, if I may ask, will you be staying for a while? If so, perhaps we may as well introduce you...and ask the lady who lives here if she'd be willing to put out a mat for another Paladin..." Flashback: Alexandria City Didymus was wary. He hadn't entirely been sure of this girl, he had taken her along because he knew that if her story WAS true, there was no time to waste. If it wasn't...they could figure that out later. Ah... I would rather not... you see, my father's life could be in danger if anyone knew who I was, so... The minister nodded. "Very well. Templar, mind to her while I see if we can get the girl something to eat." He looked to Garnet. "I'd like to help you, but I'm afraid we'll need to know more about you...when you're ready..." He turned and went off. Didymus looked over at the girl, her face still hidden away. "I don't think anyone followed us...but if I may ask, how much does your father owe? Would it help if we could somehow pay off his debt? Or somehow deal with these criminals? Perhaps if we worked with the guards..." |

Treno Streets Shimera looked at Cess. "I'll be fine! I haven't used so much energy in a while, and it feels good!" She then looked toward the crowd. Her curiosity started to get the best of her as she walked toward the crowd and floated up just a little bit to see what was going on. "I wonder..." she murmured. |

[Kilika Island] Cecil sat in honest interest as Didymus recounted the tales of Galdwin, the political situation in their home, the hostilities with their neighboring nations, and his own ordained assignment to protect and travel with the princess of Alexandria. ... I see. War has already started, and it threatens to grow each day. To think that our nation battles both Alexandria and Amestris... He shook his head, and an a hand through his prematurely stark-white hair. ... It fills me with pain to think of it. When last I sat in Galdwin, Alexandria was... well, while certainly not an ally, they were no enemy. Queen Brahne was described as a just ruler, by both our Order and the Government... He let out a small sigh. ... Amestris... what a horrible nation... ten years ago, they were flexing their muscles, barring their teeth and shouting threats of war... I see that it has grown... He stood up. ... I must say, I am... surprised by the company you find yourself keeping. The Princess of Mages, and staying in the Land of Summoners... but He uses whomever He will... it is said that Sir Cyrus traveled with a odd assortment when he vanquished Magus... He nodded. ... I shall be staying for as long as I am meant to. For Excalibur, there have always been two; one who carries the sword when it is not needed, and one who wields it when it is. He crossed his arms and leaned against the house. ... It was Elder Orlandu who last wielded Excalibur. One day, he came to me and presented the sword, and entrusted me to carry it. Though I have never used the blade, it has been my honor to carry the blade... He looked to Didymus, locking eyes with him. I cannot yet say that you are the next to wield the blade... but I believe that you may be. As such, I am bound by my Oath to stay with you until I have found out. [Flashback] Garnet panicked when he mentioned the guards. She had to think fast. No! We cannot involve the guards... She paused. They, ah... the Knights of Pluto! Captain Steiner is a corrupt man who works with the kidnappers! She would apologize to Steiner later. |

Kilika Island Didymus listened himself as Cecil said his piece. ... I see. War has already started, and it threatens to grow each day. To think that our nation battles both Alexandria and Amestris... Didymus nodded. "Yes...as I've said, we've fared well enough so far, but...that it thus far. The situation is not what war plans called "ideal"..." ... Amestris... what a horrible nation... ten years ago, they were flexing their muscles, barring their teeth and shouting threats of war... I see that it has grown... "At least, horrible things have been done by that nation. Perhaps ironically the loss of other nations was our gain-after Ishbal, those opposing a military buildup and border fortification that have proven so useful now were silenced. We refuse to let that happen in our land. For our part, anyway." He grinned slightly at that, before looking earnest again. ... I must say, I am... surprised by the company you find yourself keeping. The Princess of Mages, and staying in the Land of Summoners... but He uses whomever He will... it is said that Sir Cyrus traveled with a odd assortment when he vanquished Magus... Didymus chuckled. "Indeed. Not as strange as the company here, but a perhaps tad unusual, at least, as I recall..." "Still, two? Perhaps more, if you count He who's blessed that sword, or more still if you count the entire Order on those times, frequent or otherwise, where our Order simply keeps it guarded at the Enclave. Even then, though, the one who would otherwise be bearing it when it isn't needed still guards it, though...anyway." I cannot yet say that you are the next to wield the blade... but I believe that you may be. As such, I am bound by my Oath to stay with you until I have found out. Didymus nodded. "I am...honored, brother. And perhaps a tad, well, edgy. And if that is your commitment, I shan't obstruct it." He tensed up a bit. "Well, I suppose let's get you introduced, brother...come on, if you would, please." He began making his way, if Cecil followed him, to the front of the house, or where Lulu was. "Um...pardon me..." he spoke up. Flashback: Alexandria City They, ah... the Knights of Pluto! Captain Steiner is a corrupt man who works with the kidnappers! Didymus paused. "Hmm..." he said. Was this true? Was Alexandria trembling in the grip of crime and a corrupt watch? "...is there anyone over him? Outside his chain of command? I know that most of the guards around here are women-I don't think those are the Knights of Pluto...I suppose another question would be how much your father owes...if his debt were paid off, would that help?" The minister approached with some bread and water. "I hope this will do." he said. |

-Unknown Location- I do not know why it was survived. Truth be told, my only encounter with Innocence has been with Cross as of now. I can not pretend to understand, Mickey answered, placing the bottle by a table next to Allen. All I know is that it still does. Perhaps it was God, maybe your own will. Mickey stepped off his stool, walking away from the table. Can you stand? he wondered. -Kilika Island- Ummm...are we training still? Sora wondered, Or are we postponing? He rubbed the back his head, looking nervous. -Treno- Cess paused, then moved forward quickly, grabbing Shimera's arm. Shimera! he said, Don't float...I don't want someone to notice and such... Cess was very worried about losing the girl. As they did get closer to the crowd, Cess thought he heard something about training... -Mt Knolts- ...That's not good... Spork muttered, as the creature began to grow. He held up his sword, ready to break the diamond apart and sending it flying. Hammah...stay behind me, Spork frowned. Hammah scurried behind him, looking worried. |

Treno As Shimera, Cess, and presumably, at least, Sam got closer to the crowd, they would see two people in the middle of it. "Fellow citizens! Alexandria's attitude towards us was clear-they used us as a pawn in their game! This is our opportunity-we can break their influence on our city for good now! I ask for volunteers! We're asking for anyone willing to come fight the Alexandrians!" "Betray our benefactors? Need I remind you-" the other one said. "-Alexandria has been protecting us for ages. And if we side against them, I doubt they will be so kind if they win this war. Besides, Alexandria has only ever dealt with us justly. With the exception of Belleza's armada, perhaps, but even then, she wanted to protect her women. All REAL Treno citizens, noble or otherwise, know that it is ALEXANDRIA we should stand by here. You there, with the sword! You look like the adventuring type! We're offering a good pay for volenteers who will offer aid to Alexandria!" The first one shook his head. "Battle is coming soon east of here, and we need to aid the Galdwinians. We're willing to pay well, also-with wealth that won't be REQUIRED to sooner or later go to Alexandria!" "You think that Galdwin will be any better? Anyone knows that..." Their argument continued-but it was clear. They were recruiting, and offering payment, to anyone interested in participating in a coming battle. |

[Kilika Island] Cecil followed Didymus in silence, as the two made their way to the front door. The moment Didymus knocked on it, the door swung open and a stuffed Cactaur was standing at the door, looking up at them. ... Miss Lulu is in the back, teaching Sora to be a mage! The stuffed animal then slammed the door on their faces, as Lulu had stated that the boys were not allowed in the house at the moment. Cecil rubbed his neck. ... Tis still better than a real Cactaur. He shuddered at some painful memory, and then led the way out back, where they found Sora, Lulu and the newcomers, Lavi and Bookman. Lulu let out a frustrated sigh. Here, Sora! Just... read this. She handed him a magical tome. If this had been a video game, Sora's magic skills would have gone up. She then turned to Cecil and Didymus and frowned. ANOTHER Paladin? Between you lot and these Exorcist here, I don't know that I necessarily feel comfortable. Just remember you're on my property. Lulu snapped. [Mt Kolts] The giant chicken monster clucked viciously and jumped at the group! [Flashback] Garnet was not a good liar, and she was mostly reciting Well... erm... perhaps it would be best to just avoid the guards? If you simply took me, ah... to the seediest part of town, there I could find, um... my friend, who can help me. Garnet just wanted to see Alexandria. This was getting complicated. |

Kilkia Island ... Tis still better than a real Cactaur. Didymus chuckled. "Although I'd think a natural cactaur is, well, natural, as opposed to THAT...I am grateful we weren't sic'd by one myself..." he said. ANOTHER Paladin? Between you lot and these Exorcist here, I don't know that I necessarily feel comfortable. Just remember you're on my property. "For whatever it's worth, ma'am, there are substancial, I think, differences between our Order and theirs that..." Didymus' voice trailed off. "...but thank you." He then turned to Cecil. "Please hold on, brother, and let me see if we can get you another mat..." He knocked on the door again. "Ladies? Is it possible we could get another mat out here, please?" he asked. Inside "Ladies? Is it possible we could get another mat out here, please?" Rikku shot up at this. Maybe something to DO would actually help get their minds off depression. "Come on!" she said. "Where were the mats again...and why would they need another one? Oh! Maybe someone else is here!" Flashback: Alexandria City Well... erm... perhaps it would be best to just avoid the guards? If you simply took me, ah... to the seediest part of town, there I could find, um... my friend, who can help me. Didymus raised an eyebrow. This was getting...interesting... "I apologize, miss, my curiousity on your story grows...with that said, would it not be counter-intuitive to go to the seediest part of town if a crime boss is after you...? Regardless, if you insist...if you could wait a while, my Elder Brother will be along...how pressing is this?" Didymus was late along in his training, even if not ordained yet. He could hold his own in a fight at this stage, but he wanted to wait for Harris if at all possible. Still, if this girl INSISTED they had to go NOW, he'd simply ask the minister to inform Harris where he was off to and head out...suspicious as this sounded... |

Treno "Oh, sorry," Shimera apologized to Cess, her feet back on the ground. She listened carefully to the people who were surrounded by the crowd. "Oh, they're recruiting people for fighting!" she exclaimed. She looked a Cess and Sam. "They're even offering money." Shimera, being from a city where money isn't needed and where no one battles, she didn't understand much of this. Why did people have to fight to get money? |

[Kilika Island] I don't need a mat. Cecil shook his head, putting his hand on Didymus' shoulder. I appreciate the offer, brother, but I have been traveling for many years. Many times I've slept in caves, in the grass and in places far worse... He shuddered a bit. Cecil had a world of adventures he could have told; but none of them were appropriate at the moment. ... I don't have any more mats, unfortunately. Lulu sighed. When he knocked on the door, Lulu stepped in front of him. As it is my house and I am right here, there's no need to knock and disturb Lady Yuna or the others. Garnet, however, had wandered out of the house. ... Who is here? [Flashback] Garnet shook his head. N-No! This is... it's complicated. We just have to go somewhere where the guards won't find us... please, just let me go, and I will go on my own. I have taken enough of your time... She knew she did not need to go with these men; but she also could not let Steiner find her. |

Kilika Island Didmyus listened as Cecil and Lulu said their bits. "...if you insist, brother. I suppose I can offer the one I was to sleep on..." He regarded Lulu, a tad sheepishly. "Um, yes, of course...I apologize..." ... Who is here? "Lady Garnet!" Didymus now regarded her. "I'm sorry...I hope I...I apologize for disturbing you...um, may I introduce Brother Cecil, another Paladin. Brother, this is...well, this is Garnet til Alexandros XVII. There is much about our journey and this situation we can still tell..." He didn't mention that Cecil guarded Excalibur. No need to mention that, yet, at least, right? Rikku quickly followed Garnet out. "Oooh, another one of you guys?" she asked. "Hey Yunie!" she called in. "Come check it out! Another one of those guys in the white robes!" Didymus nodded at her appearence. "And this is...um, I think it was...shoot, something beginning with an R..." Rikku placed a hand on her hip. "Hey! Come on! It's not that hard to remember! Rikku! Ri-kku!" Didymus was now looking a tad embarrassed. "I apologize, I'm not too good, often, with names..." "That's okay." Rikku said. "Just remember." She looked to Cecil. "So, who's he?" she asked. Treno "Think it's a scam?" Both recruiters looked a tad offended. "CERTAINLY NOT!" one said. "What makes you say that? We've already gotten a few, and what would we be scamming out of you? WE are offering to pay YOU, not vice versa!" Flashback: Alexandria City N-No! This is... it's complicated. We just have to go somewhere where the guards won't find us... please, just let me go, and I will go on my own. I have taken enough of your time... NOW Didymus and the minister were growing very intrigued. "If your story is true..." Didymus said. "...I'm not too keen on letting you simply wander into the criminal underbelly by yourself, it's too dangerous. So please...is it possible for us to somehow help you?" Outside, a voice could be heard: "PRINCESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!" Didymus looked up at the sound, but returned his attention to the girl in front of him. |
