[Tot's Residence]

Another knock on the door sounded, and then the confused voice of Allen Walker piped up outside as the doors didn't open for him.

"I'm sure it was here."

Another, unknown voice responded from next to him, a rather upbeat-sounding one.

"Heh, are you SURE, Allen? Or did you get lost again and choose the wrong house?"

Allen's reply was rather indignant and loud. "Of course I have! This IS the place! A large house with an observation deck at the top, of COURSE it it the place!"

The upbeat voice from before seemed to drag out words, full of doubt. "Well, I dunno, Allen... It looks like this place isn't opening the doors for you?"

A third voice, that of an old man, suddenly came up with a sharp reply, stopping the arguing between Allen and the other boy.

"This isn't the time to argue you two. Lavi, Allen, stand aside."

There was shuffling behind the front door, before there was another loud knock, but this one in a short, repeated, but rather complicated pattern. Once the knock sounded, there was an exact three-second pause before the man spoke again.

"I am Bookman. I have come with urgent news that must be addressed. Please open the door."

[Alleyway]

There was a rather surprising arrival of a new group of people in Treno. Of course, some there wasn't a lot of people to notice the arrival, and half of those that did were used to strange things happening, but one man in particular paid attention.

The man, dressed in a perfect black suit and a top hat, was calmly munching away at an apple as he sat on one of the benches off to the side, seemingly waiting for something. When Cess and his group arrived, he looked up, apple in mouth, looking befuddled.

... This wasn't the group he was waiting for. Shrugging, he went back to eating his apple and generally being lazy.

Shimera also noticed the old lady with the pointy black hat. "Hm...she looks helpful!" the Star-Maiden exclaimed, floating slightly. "Let's ask her!"

The tall, blonde girl went floating toward the old woman.

Molly nodded and drove the tank as fast and as far as shecould....HOPING that Ed and Al would be able to get in before being blown into little tiny bits.

"Well things could have been worse. We're not dead yet at least! Of course we might be if this tank DOESN'T GO FASTER."

Molly made a mental not to herself to rig the tank with a booster of some sort if they survived this.

Abandoned Building

“… It’s really weird asking you to come with me on what could be a dangerous journey, and even weirder while you’re holding a little kid… but… I need your help, Crystal. I-If you don’t mind…”

Crystal smiled at Sama, still holding Hammah carefully. She must have looked a little strange to her friend holding a child....

"You know i'll be here to help you no matter where we go. I can't just let you go off on your own and cause trouble can I?"

Ansem's House

Melanie looked considerably happier at Galv's agreement and even threw her arms around him ain a quick hug to celebrate.

"Im starting to feel much better" she said cheerfully, referring to the loss of blood. "Maybe we can still take a walk if you're up for it?"

[Tot’s Residnece]

Doctor Tot gasped as the voice of the knocker announced itself as Bookman. He quickly rushed over to the door, and prepared to open it. As he went to open it, he paused, and looked over his shoulder.

“There’s no need to worry. It’s a good friend of mine.” Tot grinned, and then he opened the door, revealing Bookman, Allen and the others. He nodded, and invited them in.

Yuna had a great deal of experience at dealing with Rikku, and knew when it was best to just tune her cousin out. So she did – at least until Didymus asked about her.

“I don’t suppose I did. However, I’m sure there’s many things we never told one another.” Yuna said simply. There was no anger in her voice, but there was a hint of something.

She then turned her attention to the far more important questions Didymus had asked.

“There is no easy way for me to answer your questions,” Yuna admitted. “It would be like if I asked you why a Chocobo or a Horse will work with you, be trained and ride into battle without bucking away.”

She shook her head. “The fact is, Summons are very much their own independent creatures. I do not fully know where they come from, or what their origin is; but I know that a Summoner who has access to the correct Summoning Stone can call on them to assist them. Sometimes, it is the same type of working relationship as two strangers have the first time they work together… and other times, there is a true, powerful bond.”

Yuna frowned. “However, it’s all individual, depending on the Summoner, their experience, and the Summon itself.”

She looked to Garnet thoughtfully, and then back to Didymus. “I would like to take her back to the Spirian Cluster. There I could teach her how to access the powers of the summons. Do you object?”

[Central]

[Machine Corps]

With a quick clap of hands, Ed’s alchemy quickly repaired Al’s broken body. His ruined feet and lower torso was finally fixed, and Ed and Al hopped into the tank.

“WHAT THE HELL WINRY?” Ed roared.

“Not now, wait for later.” Winry demanded angrily. She then looked over to Molly. “I don’t think it gets any faster than this…” She frowned.

[Abandoned Building]

Indeed, Crystal did look a little strange to Sama while she was holding a child. In fact, it made him squirm for some reason that he could not entirely comprehend – or at least, not admit to himself.

"You know i'll be here to help you no matter where we go. I can't just let you go off on your own and cause trouble can I?"

Sama grinned sheepishly. “Thanks, I really appreciate it. Still… I have no idea what I’m supposed to find in the Bending Valley…”

He paused. “… I wonder… what it’s like now… I don’t suppose you’ve been back there since…”

He trailed off.

Ansem's House

Galv blushed, returning the hug.

“A walk sounds great,” Galv smiled at Melanie, “We can do that right now if you want!”

“Maybe I could find her a necklace...or at least a new sword to help protect her...”

Machine Corps

“Hey Sheba, hurry up!” Jenna yelled, poking her head out of the tank, yelling towards the fellow Adept.

Sheba paused, then looked to Ed, who was trying to get Al out of the way of things.

“Hey, need help?” Sheba wondered, and focused, “Carry!”

Two hands, though they were invisible to Ed, in fact, invisible to everyone but an Adept, would appear, picking up Al and carrying him. “Come on, I can carry him this way.”

-Treno-

Alleyway

“I don't think that Sora kid knows anymore then we do...” Cess sighed, towards Sam, “But I guess it's worth a shot, yah, Shimera, can you...”

He paused, as Shimera was now floating towards some old lady.

An old lady...with a hat. A pointed hat.

A black, pointed hat.

“Uh oh...” Cess muttered.

The old lady paused, turning, as if sensing something. She paused, looking at Shimera.

“Well, you certainly stick out like a sore thumb here. Any particular reason why you're floating?” the woman asked, raising an eyebrow.

Tot's House

Sora had followed Allen and the others to Tot's, pausing as they were let in.

“Hey Kairi! Sorry...I...got kinda separated from you guys...” Sora said, rubbing the back of his head.

Treno-Tot's residence

Didymus raised an eyebrow at the newcomers.

"Ah..." he was a tad wary. "...good evening. And you two got separated? Well, at least you're here now, I suppose...but you weren't followed, were you?"

However, his attention quickly returned to Yuna.

“I don’t suppose I did. However, I’m sure there’s many things we never told one another.”

Didymus suddenly felt tense.

Indeed, Garnet may have noticed, that throughout their journey, he had always been calm, even serene (though certainly focused and intense) in battle...even when he squared off with Beatrix, though to say he wasn't a tad nervous would be untrue, he had still been calm, focused...

...but Yuna's presence and remarks seemed to have him a bit tense, still, calm, but a tad on edge...

"I...um..."

"Oooooh, now you're talking!" Rikku said.

Thankfully, Yuna went on to talk more about summoning.

"Hmm...stones, you say? But again, that's a Yevonite thing, something that must be learned, isn't it? She's insisted her summoning SHOULD, at least, be natural...of course, I suppose we learn a number of natural things...but thank you for the insight...as for taking her to the Cluster..."

He paused.

"Frankly, I think it may be a bad idea. But then, I thought this whole trip may be a bad idea. Still, it will likely be dangerous. If I may say so, I doubt the Yevonite government will appricieate the presence of a Paladin...or an ally to Galdwin..." he said, with another glance Garnet's way.

"That's okay!" Rikku chimed in. "Yunie's a big leader around there! If she says it's okay, you'll be fine!"

Didymus paused.

"Still...it's not my call, I suppose. Lady Garnet, I advise against this, personally, but you know my task..."

He paused again.

"...to keep you safe..."

He looked to Yuna again.

"That's why I'm here. I..." he was flustering a bit.

"...um, oh dear." He sat down.

"...sorry." he said in reference to his awkward behavior.

"...I just...I...again, er, I apologize..." he said.

Great. This wouldn't come over strangely at all.

Rikku was already grinning again.

Shimera shrugged. "No, not really. I just like floating," she answered, smiling. Of course, she somewhat forgot that she was probably the only person here that could float.

She was also not aware that a black, pointy hat could be a bad sign.

Sam just facepalmed, going behind Shimera and trying to lower her floating. "...Apologies for the trouble. We really should be going. C'mon, Shimmy." He took her by the arm and tried dragging her back to Cess. ...Of course, go to the person with the black, pointy hat. It's not like she's going to try to kill us or anything...especially after all I've gone through so far, no...

[Central City]

[Machine Corps]

Ed gasped aloud as Al was suddenly scooped up, seemingly by nothing, and carried into the tank. He jumped up onto the back of the tank, trying to follow Al – who was freaking out.

“B-Brother! I’m being carried…”

“Hang on, Al!” Ed shouted back, gritting his teeth.

[Treno]

[Tot’s House]

"Hmm...stones, you say? But again, that's a Yevonite thing, something that must be learned, isn't it? She's insisted her summoning SHOULD, at least, be natural...of course, I suppose we learn a number of natural things...but thank you for the insight...as for taking her to the Cluster..."

Yuna frowned, as again Didymus insisted that Garnet’s summoning should come naturally. Yuna was familiar with the theory and the concept of it; but she had never seen someone able to simply summon naturally.

She did not comment on it, however, instead remaining silent. At least until Didymus’ concerns turned to the Cluster. She frowned, and looked a bit agitated.

“You are forgetting that the Yevonite government places a great deal in what I think.” Yuna reminded him. “I am sure the Maesters will not object if I bring you.”

Garnet paused, and then slowly stood with the same sense of sadness she had been engulfed in since the arrival in Treno, and the news of Brahne’s death.

“…” She did not speak, but she motioned at Yuna.

Garnet was willing to go and try. After all, since she wasn’t even sure the Summoning was still a good idea, who cared if it was natural or from some stone? Right now, Garnet needed to feel like she was doing something; anything… and this was her best option.

[Ankh-Morpork]

[Abandoned Building]

Sama nodded to the others, still lost in thoughts of home. He crossed his arms, and leaned against the wall.

“… Okay, so, we’re decided then? We’re going to The Bending Valley! … Err… anyone have any idea how to get there? I guess we could always make another underground path…”

“You are forgetting that the Yevonite government places a great deal in what I think. I am sure the Maesters will not object if I bring you.”

Rikku pouted.

"Hey! That's what I said! Are any of you even listening to me?!"

"No, if we are wise..." Steiner commented.

Rikku stuck her tongue out at him.

"Hmm...I suppose you would have some pull, in your position..." Didymus said. "...although, I'm afraid I DO wonder how you achieved it at such a young age..."

Garnet made her gesture.

"Ah, and it seems the lady has made her decision...alright...well, I suppose we shall go to the Cluster again....er, AGAIN...although I may not see why it's necessary...regardless, I suppose, if it goes smoothly, a visit to the Cluster could do us some good. Good climate, good scenery...it's not Galdwin-" he grinned a bit. "-but it certainly is pleasant."

"So, how shall we get there? Make our way to the coast and book passage on a ship? Find an airship? Did anyone have anything in mind?"

Either way, he thought, they would be spending time aboard a vessel or airship...it could be easier to keep an eye on his charge , and he could catch up with Yuna...a thought that both excited and somewhat scared him...

...and her cousin would be there, too-in fact, they'd be cramped up. This could have downsides, too...

Alexandria Castle

“… Go, General. Find Garnet and bring her back home to Alexandria. Please, see that she is unharmed.”

Beatrix rose.

"Yes...my lord." she said, and turned about.

"I shall assemble my forces and be leaving as soon as I can." she said.

This was partly a test, though-to see if Garland would still let her exert authority over the army. The army which had much personal loyalty to her as well as to Alexandria.

Belleza watched her go.

"Your orders for us, sire?" she asked.

[Tot’s Observatory]

Doctor Tot frowned. It seemed like no one would be taking the Gargan Roo after all, which made him sad since it was in the game. He shrugged, and then walked over to Princess Garnet.

“My dear Princess… I have known you for your entire life. Please, trust me when I say you will get through this difficult time. Brahne had not been well for quite some time, it is best that she is no longer suffering. You MUST overcome and save our people. I have faith in you.”

Garnet nodded half-heartedly.

Cid turned to the others, lit a cigarette (which made Tot frown again) and then he jerked his thumb towards the door.

“So, you yutz wanna take my airship.”

[Alexandria Castle]

Garland nodded to Beatrix. “Take a squadron of Black Mages with you. They will be a great help to you.”

He trusted Beatrix to an extent. However, he trusted the Black Mages would fulfill the mission, and if the need arose, they would kill Beatrix and her soldiers.

He then turned to Belleza. “… Prepare the fleet, but remain on standby. I shall need of you again, soon.”

Treno

As Tot delivered his speech to Garnet, Didymus remained quiet-he needed not weigh in on the situation, especially considering his take on it probably wouldn't be very uplifting to Garnet.

Thankfully, Cid spoke.

"Um...we do? Do we? Are you...um, who are you?" he asked.

"Yuna, I take it you know this may a bit...at least, more than I do...?"

Rikku's eyes lit up.

"Yeah! This is Cid, and his airship is AWESOME! It's like the stuff we have at Home!"

"Airships in the Cluster? Perhaps it's possible, at least if they don't have weapons, but-" Didymus began.

Rikku just smirked.

"MAYBE I'll tell you a secret...if YOU tell ME one!"

"...Yuna, if you know this man, how does his vessel hold up?"

Rikku pouted again.

Didymus turned to look at Chloe.

"Sister, I don't know if you'll be coming with us or not...I would think not, not if you have a task to attend to in Treno. If indeed you're not, could I ask you to send word of our situation, and what I've told you, back to Galdwin? Or, if you're coming with us..."

He looked to Cid.

"Sir, would it be out of order for me to ask us to stop by a Galdwinian command post or border fort? I wish to ensure that word of what is occurring is gotten back to the Order."

Although he still was wearing his brown overcloak over his white robe, the fact was that if Cid had been with them this whole time, he probably would have gathered that Didymus and Chloe were Paladins.

Alexandria Castle

“Take a squadron of Black Mages with you. They will be a great help to you.”

Beatrix paused.

"Of course, sire." she said.

Blade and cannon fodder... she thought. ...my soldiers can outperform those puppets any day.

Belleza nodded.

"Of course, sire." she said, and was off to prepare the remnants of her fleet.

[Tot’s Observatory]

Cid gave a huge, hearty laugh and dropped his cigarette. He scrambled to pick it up and get it back in his mouth before it went out. He then shrugged his shoulders.

“I’m the BEST Airship captain in Treno, kiddo, and I have the BEST ride you’ll find on the continent! The Highwind is my own creation – I studied in Galdwin, and in Amestris!”

He laughed again. “No problem dropping by a Galdwinian post on the way, either. I know some guys from my days studying Airship design in Galdwin, and if you guys are really Paladins, they probably won’t shoot us.”

Vivi squirmed, suddenly. He had been almost as quiet as Garnet, but now he looked a bit upset.

“Um… um… Mister Didymus…” Vivi tugged on his cloak. “… Um… if we stop at a Galdwin post… will I… be okay?”

Vivi was a bit afraid of Paladins, and of Galdwin’s military. Their anti-magic views made the mage feel uncomfortable.

Chloe frowned. She did have business to attend to in Treno… but she wanted to help her old friend. Besides, she knew Didymus – and she was a bit concerned. The boy was traveling with not one, but two attractive female mages who he seemed to have some connection to. Not to mention thieves and Dark Order Exorcists…

As a fellow Paladin, she would have to come. She thought it would be good for him to have a fellow Paladin around to confide in.

“I wish to come.” Chloe stated matter-of-factly. “As I said, it was by no coincidence that I was assigned to guide you all to Treno.”

"Do you think it'll take long to get there with a tunnel? What if there are more attacks?"

Crystal wasn't a bit fan of going underground. It was rather unnerving being in a place where you have no access to the element you control.

Molly cursed under her breath and looked over her shoulder at Ed and Al "Hey back there keep it down! I'm trying to drive!"

She turned back to the wheel (or whatever makes a tank go forward...I should know....It's like a stick. Whatever) and sighed.

"Okay everyone we need a way to get this tank to go faster. Either we need a solution or to start prayin' before we DIE."

Ansem's House

"Allright!" Melanie said brightly, carefully moving out of the bed and standing up. She did so rather slowly and felt a bit lightheaded when she made it up, but she was now standing. That was a victory for now.

She took a few steps and grinned...But stumbled. Luckily Galv was there and the girl took his arm to steady herself. "It may be a kinda slow walk..." she said with a small laugh.

Alleyway

“I see...” the woman in the black hat said, looking at Shimera and Sam, “It's no trouble at all...”

She watched them for a bit, as Sam pulled Shimera back, over to Cess.

“Errrr, we should probably go and try and find someone who can help us...” Cess told them, “You know, the Chaser or the Bookman...”

“Those two groups? Humph, you'd have better luck getting good help from a deaf elephant.”

Cess paused, then slowly turned around, as the old lady in the black hat stood there. How had she snuck up on them?

“If you need help, I might be able to lend a hand. My name is Misses Weatherwax. Witch,” the old lady grinned.

Cafe

Xehanort had the others appear in a stylish cafe, a table already waiting for them. Vanitus was not with them though.

“Sit, sit,” he said, to Kxs, Roxas, and Namine. “We'll get something to eat here, while I figure out our next move. Order whatever you want.”

A waitress appeared and handed them all menus.

Tot's Place

“We're taking an airship? Cool,” Sora grinned.

Rincewind looked pale, “Ohhh, not an airship...”

“What's wrong? Are you afraid of heights?” Sora wondered, turning to the wizard.

“No, heights are fine. I often find somewhere high to hide. It's the falling and sudden stop at the end I'm worried about...” Rincewind muttered.

-Ankh-Morpork-

Abandoned Building

“Making a tunnel all the way to Bending Valley would be really difficult...” Spork muttered. “We'd have to worry about air as well...”

“Need to leave the city, eh?”

A scent of tobacco would linger in the air, as Samuel Vimes kicked down a door and walked in, a large dog and a very tall man with red hair followed him.

“Hello, Avatar. Spork,” Vimes said, recognizing the Earth Bender, “How's the kid?”

“He's fine, Vimes,” Spork answered. He motioned to Hammah, who was still in Crystal's arms.

“Good, good,” Vimes said, taking a drag of his cigar, “Now then...I don't like Amestries. They attack other nations under the pretense of 'preemptive strikes' and other nonsense. The Patrician's pretty sure that they'd come after us soon.”

The Patrician had not told Vimes that, but Vimes had his own ways to get information. Plus, Veterni had 'accidentally' left some notes on his desk when talking to Vimes, and the police commander could read upside down.

“Ankh-Morpork has no standing army. We have blasted politicians demanding we get one though, and that's going to take good men from my Watch. I don't want that. So I wonder...would you be willing to accept some unofficial help? I won't report that I know where you are regardless...But I can report I saw some suspicious figures flee towards Treno or somewhere. Get you some transportation...and guards,” Vimes continued. He didn't seem worried that pretty much everyone in the room could kill him by blinking if they wanted to. And that included his own two men.

“Of course, if you're captured, I'll deny everything,” Vimes said, “And I will need something from you...”

-Central-

Ansem's House

Galv made sure to support the blue eyed girl, smiling brightly at her.

“Don't worry...We'll take our time, Melanie...” He said, keeping a hand on her arm, “Anywhere you want to go in particular?”

Machine Corps

“Don't worry, it's just Psynergy,” Sheba said, running up and getting unto the tank, “Your brother's fine. But I do have questions for you...”

She looked at Ed, and held out her staff, for Ed to grab and get on the tank.
