-Ankh-Morpork-

Underground

“Hopefully we'll find Hammah and Crystal here...” Spork said, as he led them down the paths. Garet glowed slightly, using his Psynergy to create some light.

Abandoned Building

Hammah paused, then moved away from Crystal. He looked around the building and found a pipe. He hefted it slightly, then started whacking the ground...To Crystal, it might look like he was being crazy.

Underground...again!

Spork paused, scrambling up and placing his hand on the floor, focusing.

Feet, everywhere. Walking, sending vibrations through the earth. Searching for the right now...

“There!” Spork shouted suddenly, “They're this way!”

He scrambled down, and hurried off...

Streets

“We could try the Library here, at the University...” Cess said, “It's suppose to be the largest library in the world. My mentor showed me it once...though the Librarian is a little...unusual...”

-Central-

Machine Corps

Sheba frowned, as she was ignored and the two continued to fight.

“Spark Plasma!” she shouted, holding up her staff. Psynergy activated, and blasts of energy would hit the ground between Edward and Howe.

“Will you stop and talk now, or do I have to aim next time?” Sheba wondered, looking annoyed.

Sam looked at Cess. "...Define 'unusual'. I've seen some crazy, unusual things in my life, that old geezer one of them." The teen was mainly focused to trying to get KxS back...but was pretty curious on why this person was so unusual.

[100 is an awesome number.]

[Treno]

Yuna’s eyes narrowed a bit as everyone seemed to come to Garnet’s defense. She had seen what she had seen, and there was no doubt about it. Yuna gave a small sigh, and shook her head.

“Perhaps it is impossible, but I saw what I saw. That woman murdered Queen Brahne. However… I don’t see how you could have done that and gotten here this quickly, without an airship, and we would have seen that…”

Yuna shook her head. “Clearly there is some enchantment at work here.”

Garnet did not speak… she couldn’t. Her voice caught in her through, and she just closed her eyes, wishing it would all go away.

[Central City]

[Machine Corps]

Winry was a bit freaked out when Jordan (and presumably Molly) entered the tank. She scooted back, and raised an eyebrow.

“W-W-What’s going on, Molly?” Winry gasped as this armed soldier entered the tank. (Not that it was weird for a soldier to be in a tank, but Jordan was from a different country and not the one who owned the tank).

Outside, Sheba was throwing purple plasma around. Ed paused, mistaking the lightning for an alchemic reaction. He jumped away from Howe, and clapped his hands again, just in case.

“Will you all just shut up?” Ed demanded.

[Underground]

Sama paused when he felt the vibrations. He quickly followed behind Spork, trusting that the sound was actually Hammah and Crystal, and not some horrible evil monster waiting to eat them.

[Alexandria Castle]

Garland looked at Beatrix, and he did not seem to like the idea. He rapped his metal gauntlet on the wall, and shook his helmeted head.

“… Go, General. Find Garnet and bring her back home to Alexandria. Please, see that she is unharmed.”

Garland did not trust Beatrix. However, he knew she could easily be tracked, and that would let him find Garnet… and the abilities she possessed.

Garnet still made no move to stand on her own power, or break away from him...she didn't even speak.

So what else? Didymus just kept holding her. They weren't moving...yet, at least.

“Perhaps it is impossible, but I saw what I saw. That woman murdered Queen Brahne. However… I don’t see how you could have done that and gotten here this quickly, without an airship, and we would have seen that…clearly there is some enchantment at work here.”

Didymus nodded.

"That is possible. But if I may ask...what were you even doing there? What are you doing here now, or even outside the Cluster? Does Spira have some interest in the events unfolding here on the continent?"

Rikku paused.

"You know this guy, too, Yunie?" she asked.

"Too?" Didymus questioned aloud.

Central City, Amestris-Machine Corps

Howe had to jump back from Sheba's attack.

"DO NOT INTERFERE, CIVILIAN!"

He used the lull in the fighting to draw his gun, and open fire on Ed!

He would have tried to escape and continue his mission, but Jordan was in the tank! He couldn't just leave him.

Alexandria Castle

“… Go, General. Find Garnet and bring her back home to Alexandria. Please, see that she is unharmed.”

Beatrix rose.

"Yes...my lord." she said, and turned about.

"I shall assemble my forces and be leaving as soon as I can." she said.

This was partly a test, though-to see if Garland would still let her exert authority over the army. The army which had much personal loyalty to her as well as to Alexandria.

Belleza watched her go.

"Your orders for us, sire?" she asked.

Abandoned Building

Crystal had been working on wiping soot off of Hammah's face when he jumped from her arms and headed over to some old pipe. The small boy began beating it against the ground as hard as he could and Crystal stared with a confused expression.

"Ummmm Hammah darling....Are you sure you didn't get hurt out there?"

She had NO clue what he was doing. A head injury could explain that. She went over to him and watched him.

"What are you doing?"

Machine Corps

Molly followed Jordan into the tank, grinning as Winry caught sight of him. "I picked up a hitchhiker!" she said with a bit of a laugh before motioning to Winry. "This is Winry by the way! Now don't touch anything and let us girls take care of the scary stuff!"

Ansem's House

"N-no i'm okay, really I am...Don't worry"Melanie felt bad for making the boy worry but also felt a bot funny that he was so intent on making her feel better. She sat for a few minutes watching him and eating the apple which was presented to her. It was rather nice and her stomach gratefully accepted the tasty peace offering.

"I hope this doesn't happen every time" she muttered, placing the apple core to the side as she finished. "I don't like how it makes me feel..."

Small Town

Kanna thought for a moment, in attempts to remember something that she had in her possession that belonged to her daughter. The mother and child rarely shared much but she did have a small handkerchief that Melanie often wrapped Kanna's meals with.

Quickly she went through her bag and found it, presenting it to Rica. "Will this work?" she asked

[Treno]

Ever so slowly, Garnet realized that of all the things she wasn’t allowed to do as a Princess, clinging to a boy was certainly pretty high on the list. Her face flushed a bit and she let go of Didymus and stepped back, walking over and sitting on a painted-black wooden bench that sat outside the auction house doors.

She covered her face with her hands and tried not to cry. The emotion toll of her ordeal had already pushed her to her limits, and this was the final straw. She had been forced to abandon her homeland – and to do so with the aide of a country that was considered by many of her people as ‘an enemy’.

Now, she was traveling with paladins, mages, thieves and people stranger still. It was an odd array, but all was in the hope of ending the bloodshed of a war – and now, that was impossible.

Garnet was accused of killing Queen Brahne. Even IF she obtained the summoning powers, and even IF she had the power to end the war… it no longer mattered. She would be rejected as Queen, and likely would be arrested on sight if she returned to her home.

Was there even any point in continuing?

But if I may ask...what were you even doing there? What are you doing here now, or even outside the Cluster? Does Spira have some interest in the events unfolding here on the continent?"

Yuna nodded to her cousin. “Yes… this is Sir Didymus. He… came to the Cluster. We were… friends, at one time.” She said, choosing her words carefully.

She then turned back to her old friend and nodded once again. “My interest is my dreams. I dreamt a dream that a great danger was looming in Alexandria. My destiny lies there… yet, in my haste, I have alienated myself from it.”

Yuna bit her lip. What was she going to do?

[Central City]

[Machine Corps]

As Howe fired at him, Ed brought his hands down to the ground and created a massive wall of earth to block the shots. Just in time too. He clapped again, and touched the wall he’d created – and suddenly it turned into one massive stone bullet flying right at Howe!

[…]

Jordan was now stuck in a tank.

An AMESTRSIAN tank.

He was also being bossed around by girls.

AMESTRISIAN GIRLS.

It was one thing to be in a tank, and one thing to be bossed around by girls, but Jordan was a soldier – he was a Ranger – and to be bossed around by girls belonging to a foreign military (with whom his nation was an enemy) was just… just WRONG!

“Now hold on!” Jordan demanded, but was ignored.

“Molly, you can’t go picking up hitchhikers!” Winry scolded her new friend with a frown. “This guy is from Galdwin! … Ack, wait, I didn’t mean it like that,”

She suddenly remembered that Molly was also from Galdwin.

[Small Town]

Rica took the handkerchief and examined it for a moment. He held it up to the light, and then motioned to Shady, his little goblin helped.

Shady walked over and handed Rica a bottle of water. Rica took it and poured it on the handkerchief. Then he closed his eyes, and smirked.

“Yes… yes, this will work nicely ma’am.” He said with a grin. “I’ll be able to find your daughter in no time.”

Rica tossed the bottle of water up into the air. It floated into the sky and formed into a ball, and that ball shot off into the skies. Rica paused, waiting, and turned back to Kanna and Ethan. Then the ball of water returned and hit Rica in the top of the head, soaking his hair.

He looked at Kanna and Ethan. He probably seemed foolish.

“… She’s in Amestris. Either in or near Central City. I can’t be more specific than that. However… if you’d like to purchase my premium service, I’ll come with you, and help you find her. The closer I get to Central and it’s waterways, the easier it will be to pinpoint her.”

Molly shot Winry a look, and jabbed her in the arm a bit "Oh come on, just look at him! He would have gotten ran over if I didn't pick him up! That and at least he's kinda cute!"

Molly was definitely talking to Winry like Jordan wasn't even here. Molly is just SO full of charm...

[Small Town

....Premuim services? Why did that sound so shifty?....Probably because it was...Oh well.

Kanna gave a small shrug "Fine...Ethan here will be here to make sure I don't get ripped off...How much will that one be? Or is it like before?"

Jordan was a strange mixture of angry and embarrassed. These girls really didn’t seem to mind the fact that an armed soldier from a foreign nation was sitting right beside them. In fact, they were ignoring him completely.

Well, they WERE talking about him.

“You should have let him get run over… he’d look cuter with a couple of automail legs.” Winry said, practically drooling – not over Jordan, just over the prospect of replacing his legs with machinery.

Yeah Winry’s a tad odd.

[Small Town]

Rica gave a humongous grin – the kind that screamed ‘I’m up to something’. Normally, Rica overcharged peopled like crazy, though in Kanna’s case his mind was probably thinking of something different.

“I wouldn’t even dream of ripping you off,” Rica shook his head. “Don’t worry about the price; I’m sure you can think of some way to make it up to me.”

Didymus let go as Garnet released her own grip and sought to break loose.

That did not mean that he intended to just leave her alone. As she walked over and sat down, he walked to the bench and sat down beside her. He didn't touch her, but just sat down beside her, still not saying anything to her, hoping that somehow this meant something, this provided her with some trace of comfort or reassurance.

“Yes… this is Sir Didymus. He… came to the Cluster. We were… friends, at one time.”

Rikku raised an eyebrow.

""Friends"? Oooooooooooh. Is THAT why you're not even looking at the rest of us right now?" she grinned.

Yes, even while Garnet was feeling her world collaspe around her, and Yuna seemed so reserved and edgy...Rikku STILL went straight to gossip.

At this, indeed, Didymus, even, tensed up slightly, but one glance at Garnet relaxed him-not because seeing her devastated relaxed him, but rather because he knew this was no time to be hesitant or bashful. He had to be strong for his charge...

"I was on a mission trip with my elder Brother. Yuna was the only other person around my age on that island. So we kind of hit it off..."

Rikku's eyes lit up.

"OH!" she said. "Yunie, is THIS that old guy's apprentice?"

"You saw Brother Harris?!" Didymus' eyes lit up. "Is he well?"

Rikku turned around.

"That guy was fine. But you knew-"

"I did."

"Were you-"

“My interest is my dreams. I dreamt a dream that a great danger was looming in Alexandria. My destiny lies there… yet, in my haste, I have alienated myself from it.”

Thankfully, Yuna spoke.

"So you ARE the summoner that they speak of in town?" Didymus asked. "Hm...why, if I may ask? And a great danger...that sounds about right...still, your destiny?"

He paused.

"This is certainly intriguing...as it is..." he hesitated.

"...I wanna know about you and my cousin!" Rikku interjected.

"Silence!" Steiner said, looking at Garnet.

"Can't you tell that there are more important things to worry about!"

Rikku turned her back on Steiner.

"Shut up, ya big meanie! You're just like Auron!" she said.

Didymus hesitated.

"I must agree that we have more pressing matters..." he said. "...this is no time for...for gossip..."

"I just wanna know what my family's been up to!" Rikku persisted.

"..." Even Didymus was quiet, looking back and forth between Garnet, Yuna, and the swirly-eyed girl that was demanding he spill the details his personal life.

"Who is this, Yuna?" he finally asked. "And on that subject, that other man, in the coat? Your Guardians?"

He was well-read enough to know the role of Guardians in the Yevonite Church.

"I would guess that you're a summoner by now...as for me, well, I'm a Brother Paladin instead of just a Templar, if you hadn't guessed..."

He gave a slightly nervous chuckle, shaking his head.

Central City, Amestris

Howe rolled to avoid the stone spike coming at him, and emptied the rest of his clip at Ed, before dropping it and running in hopes of finding some cover, ripping out a spare clip in the meantime...

...Jordan, he thought, was taking his sweet time. He'd have to talk to him about that.

Alexandria Castle

(Just because I'm not sure if this scene was noticed/responded to, although perhaps it doesn't NEED a response...)

“… Go, General. Find Garnet and bring her back home to Alexandria. Please, see that she is unharmed.”

Yuna turned a bit pink, and glared at her cousin Rikku. There was entirely too much talking going on for her to really answer her cousin, but as she tried to; Auron beat her to the punch. He walked over and bopped Rikku on the head with his fist.

“Now isn’t the time. We have pressing matters to attend to, and these conversations aren’t the type to have on a public street.” Auron stated to them all.

"I would guess that you're a summoner by now...as for me, well, I'm a Brother Paladin instead of just a Templar, if you hadn't guessed..."

Yuna nodded. “Congratulations. You fulfilled your most-important goal.”

She shook her head. “… I am the High Summoner of Spira.”

Garnet’s eyes widened and she looked up. This woman was a summoner?

[Central City]

[Military HQ]

Across the street from the Military Headquarters, the snipers from Galdwin were in position. They had set up and taken aim at the newly-crowned Fuhrer from across their rooftop perch.

They were waiting for Howe. However, as they continued to wait, Grumman stood in his chair. He was about to leave the room. The meeting was over, and Grumman had responsibilities to attend to.

The sniper in the lead decided he had to take a chance. He zoned in on Grumman and fired!

… but just at that moment, the door opened, and a man came in to deliver some papers. He was caught with the bullet and killed. Instantly, the others pushed Grumman out of the room, and the snipers fired several times more trying to take out their target.

“We have to get Fuhrer Grumman to safety! Take him to the machine corps and transfer him to safety with a tank!”

"OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!" Rikku cried out as she was hit-probably exaggerating.

Meanwhile, Didymus noticed that Garnet now looked up at Yuna, eyes wide. Perhaps...perhaps there was SOME way to get her out of her depression here...? But they had discussed this before; she was born with her summoning, Yevonite summoners practiced magic...and she had said she was HIGH Summoner?! Didymus actually looked surprised, and would have commented...but Rikku's attitude was not brought to heel as quickly as they all may have hoped.

"You're just a stuck-up jerk! Do you even know HOW to relax or smile or anything!? "Big meanie" just BEGINS to describe what YOU ARE!" she cried, rubbing her head where she had been hit.

"Silence, girl! Don't you know when to hold your tongue?!" Steiner yelled. She was getting on his nerves.

"YOU TOO?!"

She looked back and forth, all around.

"Why is it that both my cousin AND her ex-boyfriend travel with mean, stuffy old guys?!"

Didymus facepalmed.

"That's...is there anything I can say to convince you that things...um...weren't...that...simple?"

"Just not that SIMPLE?" Rikku asked. "Oooh, that's even better!"

Didymus shook his head.

"LOOK, if I promise to tell you about it later, will you just let it drop for now?"

He looked to Yuna, though...it wasn't just HIS past to be uncovered here, so she had SOME say...

Yuna certainly would have said something; she certainly looked uncomfortable. However, as she started to open her mouth to protest, however, the doors of the auction house opened.

A tall man wearing a black hood and cloak stepped out. He had dark hair that fell down to his shoulders, and a small smirk playing on his lips. He had the unmistakable air of creepiness to him, but more in a Manson-esque way than a Ryan-esque one.

“Excuse me…” The man said with a slow, thoughtful drawl. “I could not help but notice you’ve all chosen to congregate outside of the Famous Treno Auction House. Might we interest you in some shopping? Tonight we have many great items up for sale, including a rare signed copy of ‘I Want To Be Your Canary’, some Kirman Coffee, Dark Matter and some Gyshal Greens. Interested?”

He had interrupted them completely. If Zidane had been there, he could have warned the group about that Auction House’s reputation.

Zidane was not here anymore. He had wandered off, to go and look up some old ‘friends’ while he was in Treno. He wasn’t buying or selling stolen goods, why would you think that?

Yuna gasped an the man, and forgot the uncomfortable situation Rikku had created. “D-Dark Matter? That is a summoner’s jewel! How did you come into possession of it?”

Didymus was catious around this man who suddenly emerged from the auction house.

"An AUTOGRAPHED copy of that play...? Wait, how is that even...how did you...and-"

“D-Dark Matter? That is a summoner’s jewel! How did you come into possession of it?”

Didymus looked back at Yuna...then back at the man in a dark cloak that covered his face.

Perhaps it was a blessed warning, or maybe it was just him...but he was getting a BAD feeling about this.

"How, indeed...?" he wondered. First a SIGNED copy of a classic play...and now a jewel that apparently had some significance for summoners, at least, magical ones (to say nothing of Garnet).

He was clearly tense, or at least, skeptical of this place.

Still, he couldn't help but wonder if Garnet would like that signed play...

The girl just lost her mother, and is totally devastated right now. This isn't the best time to be thinking about getting her gifts...

Of course, part of why the thought had even crossed his mind was the hope he could somehow cheer Garnet up...but he seriously doubted such an item would do much good in this case. Garnet's sorrow was clearly a tad deeper than that.

Rikku actually was quiet for a bit.

"Ooooooohhh...would that help you, Yunie?" she asked at long last. She was getting a bad feeling about this herself...but she didn't want to discourage Yuna.

-Ankh-Morpork-

Streets

“When we get to the university, don't be alarmed by the librarian...And don't call him a monkey. Unless you don't want to be conscious,” Cess warned them, “And Shimera, try not to float there. The wizards will be curious.”

He turned, and started heading down the street, towards the Unseen University.

Unseen University

“Stibbons?”

“Here...”

“Emile?”

“Je suis ici.”

“Just say 'here.'”

“Err...here...”

“Bursar?”

“Where's my hat?!”

“It's on your head, Bursar.”

“Oh...”

“Well, that's everyone...who's still alive,” The Archchancellor said, scribbling on a list as the senior wizards grouped together after the fight. There were more then what was called, but I'm just lazy.

“Ook!”

“What? Rincewind is missing? I'm sure he's just hiding in a broom cupboard somewhere,” The Archchancellor told the Librarian.

“Ook.”

“Veterni's men came to see him? Hmmm, then he's probably hiding in a broom cupboard across the continent somewhere,” the head of the University said idly.

“Ook...” the Librarian muttered, and knuckled back over to the library to check on things.

Unseen University: Library

Cess, Shimera, and Sam would soon make it to the library, where the Librarian had returned, calming down some of the magical books.

“Hello?” Cess called out, “We need some information...”

The orangutang paused, and then swung over to the front, staring at the tree.

“Ook?” he asked.

Abandoned Building

“It's a code,” Hammah said, pounding the floor, “So dad can find us...”

Soon, the earth shifted a few feet from Hammah's left, and Spork poked his head out.

“Ahh, good, you're both okay! Anything happen?” he wondered, climbing up, most likely soon followed by Sama and Garet.

Elsewhere

Master Xehanort smirked, looking to Kxs, Roxas, and Namine. There was a movement from the dark, and Vanitus appeared by them as well.

“Good...now, let's get something to eat...I know a lovely little place in Treno...” Xehanort said, snapping his fingers, he and his cohorts disappearing into portals of darkness...

-Central-

Ansem's House

“Maybe...it's a sign you shouldn't?” Galv wondered, sitting down at the foot of Melanie's bed, “I mean, even Ansem doubted it would work, and he's one of the smartest people alive.” At least, that's what Galv thought.

Machine Corps

Sheba frowned as Ed and Howe continued fighting...She needed to stop them. She wanted answers.

Where was Felix when you needed him?

Sheba sighed, holding her staff up again.

“Tornado!” Sheba declared now, unleashing a burst of wind, sending dust and rocks flying around! She wasn't aiming for either Ed or Howe again, merely trying to stop the fight...

At the tank, a red haired girl opened the hatch, poking her head in.

“Hello!” Jenna said, “Say, we're looking for some people and information, and we think that the short blond haired boy might have some. So, we'd appreciate it if you didn't shoot at him or anything.”

She grinned at the other girls and Jordan.

-Treno-

Sora and Kairi were unsure of what to do. They were here to help Didymus, Garnet, and the others as much as they could, but short of insisting Garnet had been with them all the entire time, there was little they could do.

However, when the man in the black coat approached, a very unlikely person spoke up.

“Dark Matter?!” Rincewind said, looking alarmed, “That's rare! And very dangerous!” he looked nervous, glancing towards the group, “They use that to make monsters...”
