[Fornax] The Planet Fornax. 18 Billion people crammed onto a planet made more of water than land. It was a tropical paradise over most of the planet. It was also the home of the Insurrection that had risen in the past. The population was spread across the planet, and its six moons. It was a beautiful place. At least, it had been. Now a massive Republic Starfleet had amassed not far from the planet, but they had yet to push closer to it. Several large, full-scale battlecruisers were orbiting around the nearest moon, yet the ships were covered in thick, purple creep; a living ground that was a tell-tale sign of the Zerg. Strange, horrible bug-like zerg flew in space around the ships, apparently not even slowed down by the fact they were in space. These. [TRS Crusader] “... The losses are heaviest on the nearest Fornax Moon, but we also have reports of Zerg attacks on two additional moons, as well as the main planet itself. It appears that those bastards somehow got their hands on three battlecruisers. They've been infested. The only good news is that these ships are older and had already been retired from service, so their weapons are decommissioned. Unfortunately, the zerg have their own weapons.” Vice-President Mengsk was delivering the briefing himself. He had a history with the zerg, and had insisted on observing the operation. The briefing would continue, but soon orders would be given, and the Crusader would be leading the assault. |

T.R.S. Crusader "Thank you, sir." Didymus said, as the VP finished his briefing. "Alright, so here's the deal: the zerg are a hive mind and an infestation. As long as a SINGLE one of them remains in the system, they are a threat that CANNOT be underestimated. They don't know fear, they don't know hesitation. They're nightmarish. But their hive mind means individual zerg don't know courage, and individual initiative and skill are pretty much outside their nature. We've got that and more going for us. Their hive-mind nature also means that the most effective way to deal with them is to scatter them. They swarm. That's what they do. Individually and isolated, it's comparatively easy to kill them. This means that we're going straight for the jugular, people." he said. "The main hive clusters are where casualties have been heaviest. At least, that's what we believe. So here's the deal: first, we establish orbit over the nearest moon. Then, we deploy strike teams to the ground, if needed, to get accurate data regarding the hive clusters. Then, we will blast them into piles of goop and gunk from orbit, at which point the strike teams will commence mop-up." He paused. "I'm not gonna lie to you people. This...is one of the hastiest battles we've fought, and a lot of folks..." ...myself included... he thought, but didn't say...even he himself had voiced this opinion, but nonetheless, the operation had been pushed forward. "...believe we should just evacuate whoever we can find, then fall back and establish a quarantine zone while more forces are gathered rather than launching a direct offensive. But if we can stamp this out now and contain the damage they've done...that would be worth it, wouldn't it?" "We'll have to also fend of flanking attacks, but with a fleet at our disposal, it should be good. Make no mistake, people: this will be messy. Anyone who hasn't made out a will or would like to speak to a chaplain should do so now. Make sure you're ready...oh, and one more thing. Try not to let yourselves be taken alive by the zerg. You've all heard of infestation." He struggled, wondering if he should actually ask his men to kill themselves if captured by the zerg. "...so it may well be a good idea to to anything it will take to prevent infestation. That...that's all. Dismissed." As people got up to leave, Didymus decided to see his pilots off in the hangar, especially one in particular... |

[Mengsk's Quarters] After giving his briefing, Mengsk did not wait around to listen to Didymus. Instead, he retreated to his quarters to sit and watch from the a computer screen. As he did, however, a call came through. One he had expected. “... Admiral. I am overseeing a delicate military operation, I do not have time for a lengthy discussion.” “With all due respect, Mr. Vice-President, what the hell are you thinking?” James Raynor, eyes narrowed, was glaring at Mengsk from behind a holo-projector. “... The Zerg have reappeared. Of all people, I would think you would want them destroyed as quickly as possible.” Mengsk replied coolly. “This is too fast. You don't have enough ships, or enough personnel. The zerg will swarm anyone you send to Fornax and then we'll just be in worse shape. Why don't you leave the military choices to the military?” Raynor growled. “You're forgetting my distinguished record, Admiral.” “I'm not forgetting a damn thing about you Mengsk. I never have.” Raynor spat. “... You're apparently forgetting I'm the Vice President of the Republic you claim to serve.” Mengsk narrowed his eyes dangerously. “And you seem to have forgotten you're the VICE President, sir.” Raynor smirked, landing an obvious blow with that one. “You damned son of...” Mengsk paused and composed himself. “... This discussion is OVER, Admiral.” “Mengsk, damn it! Just give us twenty four hours! I can scramble the Hyperion. I'll send Philanthropy in. I'll send in everyone I can, just give us time...” “We will be fine, Admiral. Good day.” Mengsk hung up. [TRS Crusader: Hangar] Asuka was geared up and ready to go, and was now in the hangar, outside of her mech. She paused, told that the Colonel wanted to see her before she set out. |

T.R.S. Crusader Didymus was a tad edgy. Here he was, in a more or less public place, with Asuka. "Soryu...Asuka, I...I wanted to say...I'm...I'm sorry for what stress I've caused you. I suppose I did some stuff on Earth that, well...maybe I shouldn't have...but I'm glad you had a good time. I...listen." he leaned in close. "I don't know if you're my type, but when the time comes, I'm willing to give it a try. If you are." He leaned back out. "So please...if you can, try to come back alive, would you?" He paused. "Be blessed." he said. |

Burke's Ship Jason nodded, turning to the door and pulling it open once more. "Yeah, he's out there fighting...He wanted me to keep going to look for you." Jason was totally unaware of what had happened with the boy so he didn't seem too worried. Instead he turned back to Rica with a grin. "He'll be happy to see you i'm sure, we gotta go that way anyways to get back to the ship. We'll just pick them up along the way along with Erin" When Jason finally managed to get the large door open again he stuck his head out, checking if the coast was clear. After a second her motioned for Rica to follow and (with glowing hands) the boy lead the way back to the ship. "Oh yeah, just in case we for some reason don't get back to the ship you're gonna be a grandad." Jason added casually as the two rushed down the hall. "Just thought i'd let you know before something earth shattering happens." Because something earth shattering ALWAYS happens. NL Apocalypse As Melanie was standing right next to it the closet door crumbled, leaving a scared senseless girl giving a loud "EEK!", stumbling back madly, and staring at Ethan with wide eyes. ......Just what in the universe was HE doing hanging out in a closet?! ...............In her mom's room. ........................And was his shirt on backwards? Suddenly something clicked in Melanie's brain. While she was a very sheltered girl even SHE was smart enough that something had been going on in the room....If it hadn't her mother's face wouldn't be so red right now. "ETHAN YOU IDIOT. I'M GONNA CUT YOU" Melanie stumbled back again, slapping her hands over her eyes, even though there was really nothing to hide her eyes from....Maybe just the disturbing concept that her mother and this guy were together...And by the looks of it in the bed....Ewwwwwwwwww. "I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING" Melanie exclaimed loudly, her own cheeks and nose were bright red. "Oh calm down Melanie, there's nothing for you not to see!" Kanna exclaimed with a groan, pulling her daughter's hands down. "I thought you and Mr. Rica-" Kanna sobered up reaaaaaal fast when she realized she probably just broke her daughter's brain for the next twenty years. Poor Melanie now was fully aware that her mother was jumping between two different men, a concept that would send even an adult to a therapist for at least a few weeks. Instantly Kanna shushed the girl, straightened up and tried to compose herself fully. She made a mental not to let Ethan know that THIS is why she didn't want to tell anyone about her little rendezvous. "Ethan and I were just talking" "Why is his shirt backwards then?" Melanie questioned "Because HE can't hold his liquor." Kanna snapped back. "Then why can't I sit on your bed?" "BECAUSE YOU CAN'T" Kanna exclaimed loudly, before calming down once more. "Because the bed isn't made" "Then i'll just make it then-" "FORGET ABOUT THE BED!" Melanie went quiet again, now glaring at Ethan, who was still in the closet's doorway. Unknown Room "I don't remember saying that you could find me attractive you little creep" Jade noted, glaring at Albedo as if the observation was on his own free will....Though it could have been, as she knew all guys were secretly creepers but just tried to play it off as normal flaws. "So how do we get out of here and back home then?" she asked Ben, still glaring at Albedo. Kukai Foundation Crystal giggled "Well I could go to the Plumber HQ, but I usually only do that if something is really important. It also means I gotta pack up and go for at least a couple of days...Boooorrring! Well...Actually doing it this way is boring too, but at least we can hang out isn't being in meetings all night." The girl disapeared back into the changing room, speaking through the door. "Anyways we can make a date out of it! Sure it'll be a report date but we can make it fun right?" |

[TRS Crusader] Asuka hesitated, not knowing what she should say in response. She did not know if she liked, disliked, loved or hated her boss – but she was at least glad that the two could have one moment that wasn't complicated. All it took was impending combat and the promise of wide-scale death and bloodshed to bring out a peaceful moment. “I don't plan on dying on some freakin' tropical moon. You can't get rid of me that easily.” She waved, turned away from him, and headed to her mech. [Burke's Ship] Rica's spirits were actually starting to raise. His son had cared enough to come and save him, and while that was incredibly stupid, it seemed to be working out well enough so far. The boy had found him, and apparently Burke did not know about this. (Burke did, but KOS-MOS had shot him over ten thousand times, so Burke was currently preoccupied with that.) They would return to the Apocalypse. He would get to know his son. Felix was here as well, and as far as Rica knew, unharmed and perfectly safe. He would get to see his foster-son again, and know he could be a part of his son's life as well. This also meant he could see Kanna again, and after what had happened between them on the mysterious planet, he was hopeful that they were reconnecting. "Oh yeah, just in case we for some reason don't get back to the ship you're gonna be a grandad." Rica paused. He had been following Jason down the hall, but now he had to stop and nearly fall over. “W-What!? How, when, who...” He then remember that he had actually caught Jason and Erin in the closet. Okay, so that answered all of the questions he just asked. “You idiot! You shouldn't be having kids at your age!” Rica growled. “... Ah, well, at least you're alive. Just try not to break my brain anymore until after we get out of this place, will you?” [Kukai Foundation] Sama meeped a bit. “A couple of days? Yeesh... yeah, it's much better to just do it this way! This may not be an ideal date night, but we can make it work!” He laughed aloud, but then his ear rang again. This time, it was Raynor, and he had to answer. He paused for a moment, and then sighed. “... I think we'll have to have our date night aboard the Ragnarok. There's some kind of situation on Fornax. We haven't actually been ordered in, but Raynor wants us on standby just in case we do get orders.” He shrugged, and then leaned against a wall, waiting for her to reemerge from the changing room. “Still, I doubt anything major will happen. We should be able to get your reports done and still have a fun night.” Hahah, poor Sama. |

Kukai Foundation "That's alright" Crystal said, emerging out of the dressing room clad in her usual outfit. "One boring location for paperwork is the same as another broing location for paperwork right?" She then walked over to the boy, the dress and shoes in her arms. "I'm sure eventually i'll get to ear these, oh! We'll have to get you a suit as well!" Shannon groaned. Burke's Ship "Let me guess, do as I say and not as I do?" Jason asked with a grin. If his calculations (or estimations) were right he had been unknowingly in this situation when he was Jason's age. "And don't worry, I don't think I have anymore brain breaking news for you as of now!" The boy laughed, the first time he had done so in awhile. Unfortunately it was short lived as they reached the next room. The boy instantly quieted down as he noticed his girlfriend and her "brother"....Walter didn't seem to be breathing... ".....Erin?" |

[Kukai Foundation] Sama grinned as she reappeared and nodded. “I suppose. As long as we get the boring paperwork done quickly and exchange it in for dancing.” “You can wear it tonight, after the work is done! And don't worry, I have a suit back on the ship. I had to go undercover once at a fancy resort, so I was able to buy a really nice suit... haven't had much of a chance to wear it since then, though.” He frowned and shrugged. “Anyway, let's pay for your stuff and head back to the Ragnarok!” [Burke's Ship] Rica coughed a bit. He hadn't thought about it when he said it, but Jason had a point. He and Kanna had been around a similar age when Jason was born... but then that was different – they were experiments in a dangerous organization and under a lot of pressure... Rica shook his head. There was no use making excuses now. Then they ended up in a new room, where Erin looked disheveled, and Walter looked... dead. “What the hell happened?” Rica frowned, hurrying over. He recognized Walter... that boy had killed his son... Rica was half tempted to walk over and shoot him in the face, but Walter looked pretty dead already. |

T.R.S. Crusader "AND NO INFESTATIONS, EITHER!" Didymus called after Asuka, and to all the pilots. "You hear me, all of you? Watch each other out there-and NO INFESTATIONS!" Quickly, he was in the war room. Rachel was there with a glass of water. "Anything else you need, sir?" she asked. "Just to get situated here. I think all my orders are sent out thus far, comm channels are open..." he said, and sat down by the main holodisplay. Rachel nodded. "I'm sorry we had to call you back so soon, sir...if there's anything else you need, please don't hesitate to call me." "Thank you, Rachel. That...will be all. For now, at least." "Yes, sir." |

[Fornax Orbit] Now in space above fornax, Asuka was piloting the NL-B2 Pyroclasm. It was a simple mech, one that packed a lot of power and could cause terrible, terrible damage to anything in its path. The one downside was that Pyroclasm was not as defended as it could have been, and that left Asuka vulnerable. She (and a squadron) were waiting for orders, now in space, not that far from where the infested battlecruisers were hovering. “Comlink online.” Asuka called to Didymus. “I'm ready... you want us to head to those Battlecruisers? I'm not sure we could reach the moon with them still there...” |

Fornax orbit "Stand by, Soryu..." Didymus said. "You're just playing defense-or rather, bodyguard. We've to secure orbit, after all. I've already got some people on the cruisers. I'm designating a squadron on your HUD now. These bombers are equipped with incindary bombs-the zerg HATE fire after all." As he spoke, Asuka would see some of the mighty battleships the Third had were bringing their guns to bear, and firing with rounds comparable in size, at least, to her own mech, firing at the infested ships! "Escort the bombers, and stay out of our own big guns' lines of fire. Don't worry. This is to soften 'em up. I won't have them attacking the same cruiser you're running on at the same time." |

[Fornax Orbit] The moment the Third's battleships opened fire, the three infested battleships spun around and seemed to take notice. In the instant the incendiary bombs started hitting, it caused massive damage to the ships, but being space, there were no actual flames. Several flying zerg shot forward from the battleships, roaring (which also could not be heard) and they started spitting acid! Asuka frowned, and held up her gun, firing massive laser blasts at the zerg as they moved in. “I'm detecting fires being started in the ships, but the outside isn't catching. But it looks like we're off to a good start...” |

Big ships, lay out a screen with your anti-fighting weaponry-I don't want any bugs getting through, you hear? Keep up the pressure on those infested ships." And so it began. |

[Fornax Orbit] “I am covering them!” Asuka replied, and indeed, she was spraying several lasers from her oversized mecha-rifle as she blasted the multalisk as they came closer to the ships. They were moving quickly. The zerg swarm was attacking in full force, trying to get closer to the fleet. They were huge in numbers, and with everything the republic was throwing at them, they were still coming. “There's so many...” Asuka frowned. |
