I'll bite your legs off!

This is more of an interest thread. What if history was altered? (This is ripping off directly from the Command and Conquer: Red Alert game series. This is NOT an original plot from me.) In the aftermath of WW2, Albert Einstein, horrified with the damage done by Nazi Germany to the world, did more work than simply physics. No, he invented a way to transport a man back in time, and with it, eliminated Adolf Hitler from the space-time continuum. Without Hitler, fascism never rose in Germany, and the horrors of Nazism never took shape in Europe. Japan faced the US alone in the Pacific (and was devastated), but Europe remained peaceful. Or did it? Without Nazi Germany, there was a Eurasian power that found itself "unchecked" in its westward expansion: the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Stalin envisioned a Soviet Union stretching from end to end of the Eurasian landmass. With Japan defeated to its east, the Soviet Union launched campaigns into Mongolia and northern China, enlarging its holdings, before finally, decades after Japan was defeated in the Pacific war, launched a MASSIVE invasion of the continent of Europe. However, the Europeans were watching the growth of the red menace with increasing alarm, and, by the time of its invasion, had already formed an alliance. From Turkey and Greece west to Portugal, and from Norway and the UK to Italy, Europe had been anticipating this war, and now, grimly, the Europeans prepare to defend themselves as Stalin's armies swarm out over the USSR's eastern border. Albert Einstein himself, in "this timeline", actually finds himself as a researcher helping the European allies develop weaponry to counter the Soviet advance, but the Russians are trying to develop new technologies themselves, and soon enough, Tesla Coils capable of firing devastating bolts of electrical energy are seen guarding Soviet bases... ...finally, both the Europeans and the Soviets are keeping an eye on the US. Both sides know that the US isn't going to stay out of the situation in Europe forever... The date? I don't exactly know, but the technology would be fairly modern, maybe 70's-era at the earliest, although things like GPS are around. Anyone interested? If so, the signups would be something like this: Name Faction (Allies or Soviets) Nationality Role (military or civilian, covert agent, tactical commander, frontline soldier, etc.) Rank (if applicable) Bio Again, anyone interested? Obviously, if you have to get involved with just one RP, get involved with one of the ones that's already going (GS, this means you ), but again, is anyone interested in this? If so, feel free to ask questions and/or sign up a character. |

I can't see what you're imagining

Hmmm…Well, being something of a history buff myself, I kinda have to disagree on the whole premise of the plot, but, that’s neither here nor there, nor really something appropriate to discuss on the SRB. However, I love the idea of this, and I would join, but, I don’t think this is really SRB appropriate…It would bring up politics and more, something that’s not discussed around here. Plus, the fact it would be incredibly complicated. While I know we could all sit down and do this, I just don’t think it would happen, and we would get bogged down in the details. Sorry Vidit, but while I do love this idea, I just don’t think it’s for the SRB. |

Hmm...I shall address these concerns... 1. yes, perhaps the plot is over-the-top, but even if so, that's not something that it goes out of its way to avoid. ![]() 2. as for politics, well, the issue wouldn't necessarily be to attack any political system (except Stalinism, I suppose), but if it would tear the board asunder, I suppose it wouldn't be worth it. 3. it could be complex, but I'd probably keep the story focused on the missions in the game I'm ripping this off from. ...glad you love idea, at least, but either way, espically with GS not around too much, the SRB's RPs aren't in too good condition anyway. I suppose I just liked the idea of this so much I decided to try it. So if this flourishes (unlikely), cool, if not, oh well. It's not too big of a deal. So for anyone who's interested, post here, if not, than there are plenty of other RPs that take priority over this one. |
