(I keep forgetting. Is Rapid Island on Earth? Or is it its own little area?)

(I hate to butt in, but it may be its own area for this RP. Of couse, it may not matter too much, but yeah...it keeps it more "realistic". Of course, again, it may not matter too much. What does anyone else (namely Irony) have to say about that issue? Anyway...)

Corporate City

Upfield eyed Eggman and silently expressed disappointment with his abstaining from alcohol. You see, as a businessman, he found that people with...weaknesses were easier to control. Nonetheless, he kept his cool, and when Eggman was done explaining, Upfield spoke.

"It looks very nice, doctor." he said. "But I can get robotic battle mechs cheaper than what you're offering at. However, I may consider purchasing some if we were to have a...field demonstration."

With that, he continued to regard Eggman, waiting for him to respond.

T.R.S. Normandy

Didymus smiled a bit at Sama's comments.

"Very true." he said, earnestly, in response to them. "And truth be told, I'd much rather have a competent soldier who understands the value of life and is honest about where he stands than a yes-man who can salute with the best of us but can't fight worth anything. In fact, I've actually openly disregarded the orders of one of my COs once before, of course, at Baker's Ridge."

Didymus paused, letting his words sink in, gathering his thoughts.

"Very well, captain." he eventually said. "Good to have you aboard. Still, as your CO, I insist that you try to keep protocol, even if you are not perfect at it. And speaking of which, if I may ask, how did you get to the rank of captain without getting used to procedure? I may be able to guess, but either way, do you mind filling me in?"

Hoping that he wasn't off to a bad start with Sama, Didymus awaited his response.

(I always thought of Rapid Island just being…well, Rapid Island. I suppose it would be better, that for the sake of this RP, Rapid Island is technically a different colony, since it’s not SK&WS canon, but last word would go to GS on this.)

-Spork HQ-

Deep in the lab, AGoI paused, looking up at the mech.

“There…modifications are complete. Eddie, are you downloaded?”

“Yes sir!” the chipper A.I. said from the mech, out of place in how the mech looked.

“Heh…Avenger thought I didn’t know what was happening…My scanners picked up a weapon months ago. And a weapon like that…” The Spork paused, then shook his head, “No…But still, I have to check it out.”

There was a hiss, as the mech moved into a large ship, AGoI getting in as well.

“Jimi and Hammah can look after the lab,” The Spork said to himself, “This is something I need to do on my own.”

Outside of Teh Town, a large field suddenly began to rumbled, pulling backwards, as a large ship suddenly flew outwards into the sky, out into orbit, then kept going.

“Heh…now…” AGoI muttered, typing at some controls, “We begin…”

-Corporation City-

“Bull,” Eggman said, leaning back in his chair, “You might be able to get unmanned mechs at a cheaper price, but they’re pieces of junk. Fifty of those second, no, third rate hunks of metal couldn’t hold a candle to what I’m offering you.

“Why my mechs are more expensive, they are cheaper in the long run, as you wouldn’t have to replace them as much. However, if you’re still not convinced, I could be convinced to sweeten the deal slightly,” Eggman finished, taking another sip of his water. “Or perhaps, a demonstration?”

He pulled out another small cube and placed it down, clicking it on, and showing the vacuum of space, though one of the stars was shown, and so was a very Earth-like planet.

“Avalon, the Loyalists. One of your enemies, correct?” Eggman grinned, “Watch.”

-Avalon System-

At the far reaches of Avalon, a regiment of unmanned Eggman mechs appeared, entirely hostile and ready to fight, most likely setting off Avalon’s defense network!

((I'm the wrong person to ask, because I thought all of these characters from SK&WS were ports and not the actual characters. So Vidit and AGOI will have to decide as it is their RP.))

T.R.S. Normandy

Sama paused and turned his eyes to the windows. Then he looked back to the Colonel with a unhappy look in the depths of his eyes.

"... I took someone's life." Sama replied. "In doing so, I saved the lives of some of the Brass. Big-wigs who have a lot of political pull..."

He seemed sad in recalling whatever had happened. "... They offered me the Mech and the Rank. I accepted. There's a lot more to the story, but if it's all the same to you, Colonel, I'd like to get settled in now."

Marine Ship: Cargo Hold

Avenger quietly snuck into the ship's hold. He had seen some weird things happening on board, though. The ship was taken over by some terrorists, he assumed, from Russia, and to his surprise, he thought he saw a moving cardboard box in the hallways. Somehow, though, he managed to sneak by all of this, unnoticed.

"Damn... I'm good." He thought as he snuck by the huge numbers of troops, listening to their commander's speech.

"That must be the man in charge of the project, Commander Dolph." He then thought, turning his attention to the screen behind the Marine commander. On one side, there was, strangely, a picture of a Japanese model.

"What the? Friggin' pervs!" He thought to himself, trying to withhold his laughter. He then caught what was on the other side of the screen: His target.

"So, there you are, my pretty..." He whispered as he began to move forward towards his destination.

When he finally arrived, he stood in amazement.

"Oh my..." He said, noticing the lack of any guards. Of course, with that kind of machine, who needs guards?

"I can already see it now... 'Avenger, why did you bring that thing on to my lawn'" He mocked the Professor. "Oh well, time to get while the gettin's good."

He moved over beside the gigantic beast of a machine, and placed his hand on it, at the same time, pressing his other hand against his head.

"Suckers."

And with that, the dark warrior and his prey vanished back to Spork HQ...

And the moving box arrived, seeking what had already been taken.

"Otacon. We have a problem."

Avalon Checkpoint Gate

Suddenly, the Andromeda's head automatically swung to the left, turning so it faced far-off incoming forces just as it was passing away downwards to the planet away from the gate. Suddenly, it stopped, negating the gravitational pull of the planet as two additional lines and dots activated along with its primary eyes. This time, it was just watching... But the incoming force was rather large.

And it looked far too strange.

A communication connected to the Avalon Orbital Control, sounding somewhat more urgent than the lazy communication that was before... And then, suddenly switched to emergency as the bots were identified as hostile and flying far too fast and in erratic attack patterns.

"This is the Andromeda, emergency call. Unidentified hostile fleet approaching. If required, I am on standby and ready to engage. However, as a mercenary, I cannot do so until I have assurance that I will benefit from this."

(I'd say that Rapid Island could be some other colony in this RP. Anyway...)

T.R.S. Normandy

Didymus regarded Sama earnestly. For a while, he stood there, facing him. His look was not one of disapproval, nor disrespect. It was an earnest look, but on it, at the same time, one could see traces of sympathy. It was war, and Didymus understood that, horrible as it is, sometimes, lives must be taken. However, he felt that this wasn't necessarily the time for that. That being the case, he spoke up.

"Of course, captain. Go ahead and get settled in." he said.

He was about to show Sama a map of the ship so as to show him key rooms in it, when, suddenly, the alarm went off.

"Normandy! Hostile craft entering the area! Raise your shields, but DO NOT engage! Repeat, DO NOT engage hostile craft! Let the defense forces handle it!"

"Understood. Raise shields!" Didymus said into communicators. With that, he turned back to Sama.

"Captain Sama, if you wish to get settled in," he said, punching up that map mentioned earlier. "Your quarters are located here," he said, pointing to a place on the map"the mess hall is here, the recreational facilities, I can explain, if you like, are located here, and finally, the ship's chapel, if it concerns you, is here. So, shall I call a lieutenant to help you with your bags, or would you prefer to carry them yourself, or ," at this, Didymus began to grin a bit,"would you prefer to drop them here and get into your mech in case we are called out to fight?"

With that, he awaited Sama's response.

AOTCC

The officer returned the Andromeda's transmission.

"Andromeda, you have been assured compensation for damages and a slight extra sum if you assist us in repeling the hostiles. It's your call about whether or not to help."

Meanwhile, in orbit, a few ships, crusiers, battleships, (a considerable amount of them warming up their grav well generators) and fighter wings began to engage the Egg forces.

Avalon Checkpoint Gate

"Do not concern yourself with damages. Engaging. Please refrain from using rapid-firing, inaccurate weaponry."

The Andromeda flared up, red lights suddenly appearing all over its body as it made a full swing around and shot back out of the checkpoint gate at high speeds, switching direction almost instantly with a flip and counter-gravity and shot for the incoming squadron of mechs. The Andromeda, now increasing booster thrust to beyond-human levels, swerved left and right, fully in control of its flight pattern. It shot past the defensive perimeter and straight for the first mech, a glowing-blue field appearing underneath its right arm and materializing into a rather large minigun (100M-mm Triple Tri-Minigun, see Info Thread).

And then, it opened fire, the three triple-barrels spewing forth a deadly hail of concentrated fire at the closest target, making a sideways strafe because otherwise, the mech's forward-flight speed would surpass that of the bullets. After the first salvo, the Andromeda swerved several times, dodging, before making a second strafe and firing a second salvo.

Inside the pilot's control room was havoc. Red outlines were appearing all over the screen, identifying enemy units, all of the information fed down the communications link to the Orbital Control base from up-close, while the pilot battled. From the outside, you could almost see the red, glowing lines on the Andromeda streaking in the air, making magnificent twists and turns, handled by an experienced pilot.

Only one pilot ever drove a mech to its limits like that. This was the very same fighting style that the missing Jagan Shades of the Loyalist Secret Operations used in combat both in outer space and atmosphere.

(Other colony sounds good to me.)

-Avalon System-

The unmanned Eggman mechs scanned Avalon’s defenses. It wasn’t a penetrating scan, it simply saw what was there.

Forming into an attack formation, the ships plunged forward, and began to open fire on the attacking ships, a smaller group breaking off and going around, in an attempt to flank them and/or start attacking the main bases.

“Hey!” Coop shouted, seeing the mechs attack, “Looks like we get some fun!”

Coop revved the engine to Megas, and the giant robot car shot upwards, flying at the Eggman mechs.

“Hooooyah!” Coop shouted, shooting straight into the battalion, and punched one of the mechs down, only to find ten more surrounding him, and firing.

“Uh oh…” Coop muttered, as Megas protected itself best it could, then revved forward, trying to grab one of the robots.

As Andromeda fired at one of the mechs, being taken out, the others expanded around behind it, circling and reversing that circular direction, moving every which way yet still retaining some more of formation, something nearly impossible for manned mechs to do.

As Andromeda came back for a second shot, the mechs were ready, and suddenly pulsed outwards, the forward ones firing at the mech, pulsing out, and then the ones behind them firing and pulsing, and so forth, moving like a single entity.

-Corporation Capital-

“As you can see, they are well coordinated and responsive to any attacker, identified or not,” Eggman said, motioning to the mechs attacking Megas. “That blue robot is an unknown entity, and it attacks my mechs, and my mechs reply in kind. The inferior models others show tend to get confused at things like this, as they are only programmed to identify certain enemies.”

Waving his hand through the hologram, the view shifted, focusing inwards.

Now the view was closer towards Avalon, as the Eggman mechs battled there way closer.

“Of course, a single battalion of unmanned mechs wouldn’t be able to take out their defenses, but it should be sufficient for a distraction, or, if you had more, a complete army of mechs,” Eggman chuckled, “And did I mention they work in atmosphere and under water as well?”

-Spork HQ-

Avenger would find the house quiet. Spork was gone…

Avalon System

The Andromeda swerved and strafed like some sort of dancer in between skilled swordsmen, spinning, twirling, performing intricate motions that were barely possible in this day and age, looking more like a skilled, winged dancer than a mech. The incoming, non-manned robots came coming and firing, but the Andromeda, fast and furious, dodged almost every single blast with only one or two deflecting off some sort of personalized shielding field, the power of the laser not quite enough to keep the trajectory to score glancing hits.

The Andromeda, however, landed hit upon hit on the incoming mechs, tracking their motions almost pinpoint-precisely, even their dodging factored in, destroying a robot every three seconds or so on average. It crashed through the formation several times to deliver physical blows to a stunned machine before shooting it full of holes and continued on, dancing.

However, for now, it mostly stuck to medium range with that minigun, never wasting more than a few shots to finish an enemy.

In ten seconds, the Andromeda was already scattering the machines and causing them to recalculate formations on the go as unit after unit was lost from their hive mind. And, during this entire time, the Andromeda remained untouched. Of course, the bots were advanced enough to be able to recalculate their formation almost instantly, and had some really good weapons to boot, but the Andromeda was a mech that was the ultimate creation and find of Desty Nova to date. And it was not something one could simply take down with numbers.

Boost left, minigun. Cunter-boost, dodge around for a bit with spins and turns made by apogee thrusters and again make a pass with the minigun. As a mech got too close for comfort, the Andromeda put its left palm up, the one open hand that was not busy with anything, and fired off a rather powerful laser, putting a large hole in the incoming machine.

T.R.S. Normandy

Sama let out a small sigh and let his shoulders shrug. "Well, at least this new job won't be boring."

He turned around and started running down the hallway he had come in through. "Colonel," He called over his shoulders. "Send me the battle information on my mech's comscreen; I'll take care of this!"

Dashing out the door where he'd met Rachel earlier, Sama headed down into the hanger bay and returned to his large, dragon-shaped mech. He hurried inside and took his seat at the controls, reaching into his pocket for a small, round coin that shimmered like a ruby.

He placed the coin in a circular slot in the mech's control panel and suddenly the dragon's eyes flashed with a brilliant golden light. In an instant, the dragon slipped out of the hanger and back into the vastness of space.

Electricity cracked around the Dragon Star King as it was engulfed by the blackness and headed towards the battle.

Didymus quickly rushed to a comm link.

"Captain, get back here immediately! We have been ordered not to engage, and besides, your help may not be necessary..."

Didymus chuckled, noticing, on a display of the battle, how close one of the battleships had managed to get to the hostile formation...

Corporate City

As the battle's display played out, suddenly, a large portion of the Eggman mechs seemed to stop moving.

"Hmm..." Upfield said. "It seems that your mechs have become engulfed in a gravity field. What a shame. Now, they're scrap metal. Either way, I've seen enough. Withdraw the ones that are still mobile, if you wish, I really don't care."

Upfield had been impressed by the performance he had seen. For unmanned mechs, they were pretty good, but he wouldn't say that out loud. Not yet, at least. Perhaps Eggman would lower the price if he acted disinterested...at first, anyway.

“Oh ho ho,” Eggman chuckled, “Pay no attention to the mechs in gravity field…”

He motioned towards the hologram, “It is a mistake to think of these mechs with a ‘hive mind.’ That implies a central mind which controls them all. True, I can send a signal to them and get them to stop, but for all purposes, they are fully functional as one or as one hundred.

“I designed their A.I. after minnows, those small fish that travel in groups. Despite those fish and their complicated movements, there is no single leader. They act as a single entity, and every fish is a ‘leader’ and a ‘follower’ per say,” Eggman explained, “Tricky bit of programming, no?”

-Orbit Over Avalon-

Eggman Mechs vs. Andromeda.

A lot of them were being destroyed, but, these mechs could learn.

A group of them had formed a close knit orb, even connecting with each other in a way, and charged forward at Andromeda, all firing in a clustered group at the speedy robot, going for a headlong rush.

And they were smart enough to go around, and were charging from the planet…

Eggman Mechs vs. Avalon Battleship.

Remember earlier when a portion of the battalion of Eggman mechs separated from the group?

They came back around with their flanking procedure, and began to open fire on the battleship which held some of their other mechs in the gravity field!

Eggman Mechs vs. Megas

Clap!

Megas clapped it’s hands, and a red sword of energy appeared in it.

“HIYA!” Coop shouted, revving the engine and going at some more of the mechs, slicing through them.

-Spork HQ-

“Hello!” Eddie the A.I. chimed to Avenger. Eddie, despite also being downloaded in The Spork’s mech, was, well, in the house. “Jimi and Hammah are off visiting an old stomping grounds, and the Professor is out for now! However, may I assist you?”

(I need to sign-up for Eddie…:heh: )

Orbit over Avalon

The battleship with the active field returned fire, attempting to use its tractor beams to snag a few more speedy attackers, in addition to its more nimble weaponry designed to hit targets like fighter craft. Meanwhile, it was using some of said weapons to quickly prove that usually, a mech caught in a gravity field is as good as scrap metal, at best.

Meanwhile, more battleships moved into position around the combat zone...
