Avalon Clarke, noticing the newly arrived rebels, began directing forces to counter their charge. "Didymus!" she said into her battlefield command system. "Hostiles on the far side of the planet! Get over there and engage! Battle group Kappa, you too! Blue Squadron, battle group Delta, cover the colonel!" From his mech, Didymus acknoledged that order sent his way, and, as a group of elite loyalist fighters swooped in to attack Peterson, Didymus's mech fired its engines, and it streaked, at extreme speeds, over Avalon to where Maria was making her move... ...as Didymus and a loyalist battle group advanced on Maria's, Didymus fixed his sights on the head of their new "spear"...Maria's mech. Closing in to hit intercept her, he locked on to some of the rebel ships and opened fire with his heavy rockets. As they streaked toward their targets, he drew opened fire with his rifle on some other mechs, scoring numerous hits, and, as he closed in on the Maria's mech, he drew his sword, and began closing to melee range with various mechs, gracefully slicing them in two while zipping and zagging back and forth admist the crossfire. Fighting wasn't something Didymus particularly enjoyed at all. In addition to whatever nervousness that would beset him, he also knew that here, every cruiser he rocketed, every fighter he blasted, every mech he destroyed, had on them other human beings, with friends and families and dreams...but this was war. The U.T.R. was NOT the oppressive monster the rebels claimed it was, and their theories of "progress"...well, he could debate them, as well. He continued to close in on Maria. If she had been listening to communications, she probably would have already heard that there was a loyalist mech tearing through the front of her formation and heading for her... ...Didymus mech raised its rifle and opened fire at her as he continued to close to melee range, energized solid sword ready... |

-Avalon- Eggman’s Fleet “Alright…time,” Eggman grinned, as the second pronged attack. Didymus and a few good mechs may have been able to get to the other side of the planet quickly, but in order to completely move enough fire power to counter the second attack efficiently would take time and a good degree of communication. Cracking his knuckles, Eggman typed in a code, transmitting to a small, yet powerful device which had found itself on Didymus’ flag ship, the Normandy. Furthermore, this small device, having gotten there when Eggman first demonstrated his mechs to the Corporation, was attached to the main communications center, having hacked into the system. It surged with energy, sending out a sudden burst of transmission throughout the Loyalist channels of communication. In short, it short circuited the communication needed to get everyone organized. It was fixable, yes, and the device was destroyed once it did it’s job, but it would take some time for the Loyalists to fix it completely. Hopefully, enough time the Rebellion needed to turn this battle back around. Avalon: Maria’s Attack Maria grinned, bringing up her own energy sword and blocking Didymus’s blast with her energy sword, then flew at him, swiping with the same weapon! Her mech, the Gyan, was specially made for close quarters combat. It’s shield could fire missiles as well, but it’s true power was the arm and the sword. It could deliver a powerful blow. Avalon: Peterson’s Assault Peterson’s Geloog spun around, slicing through one of the mechs, taking off it’s arms and leaving it defenseless, then boosted up, placing his two pronged weapon away for now, then firing on the other mechs coming at him. “Men, continue our assault here! Concentrate your fire on clumps and move forward!” Peterson ordered. Eggman’s mechs had created an orb, liking earlier, shifting around and moving, constantly firing on Loyalist ships, concentrating on these bigger, heavily armed behemoths then the lighter mechs and ships. Meanwhile, The Spork boosted back into battle… |

Avalon Clarke pounded her fist on her desk. "Techs!" she yelled out. "Get that communications array fixed ASAP!" The techs traced Eggman's virus and began to delete it... In the meantime, above Avalon, despite Eggman's reinforcements, several battle groups were moving in on Peterson's position. Including battleships equipped with grav well generators. Indeed, Peterson was putting up a good fight (by contrast, Eggman's unpiloted mechs were being taken out at a fairly steady rate), but there was a concentration of loyalist ships closing in on his own group, closing like a noose, preparing to unleash grav wells, with the smaller, lighter ships protecting the larger ones from mech and fighter attack, forming protective spheres around them... Even with their communications hindered, they still had them preforming well enough to coordinate effectively against Peterson. Meanwhile, Didymus, seeing Maria coming at him, moved his own sword to parry her blow, and fired his mech's thrusters, rotating it on its arm to position above Maria, withdrawing his arm to complete the turn flip and attempted to fire his rifle point-blank at the back of her mech... Didymus's mech, although battlefield acrobatics were well within its abilities, was actually designed with heavy combat in mind. It may not be the fastest, but it still was fast enough, and it was very tough, able to take and dish out quite a bit of damage, even when compared to (most, at least) other mechs. Aboard the Normandy, Rachel was accessing a computer terminal, attempting to help delete Eggman's virus right at its source. |

-Avalon- Peterson’s Assault Peterson grinned, then flipped a few more switches. Peterson was an expert in space battles, and always knew how to take advantage of a fight. For one thing, space was a three dimensional battlefield, one a person could move in all directions. Which meant it was a lot harder to get someone in a noose then on a battle on the planet. Peterson dropped straight downwards, blasting through a few mechs then maneuvering, firing away towards the enemy while retreating some. “Reinforcements, move ahead and help keep out! They’re going to want to take me out, dead or alive considering my position. I try to draw their fire, and concentrate for those big ships with the gravity well generators!” Peterson ordered, keeping his Geloog just out of range of the Loyalists, attempting to bait them to get closer. Maria’s Attack The blond grinned, relishing the battle and thrusted to the side, avoiding the blow and swung the sword around again, aiming to go through Didymus’ mech’s shoulder and diagonally through it! |

Apocalypse: Sim Room Avenger spent the last few minutes getting used to the Demonclaw's control scheme. While it wasn't AI controlled like RAY, this suited him better, allowing him to control the movements with his own, and thus, lessening the learning curve. He was, after all, a trained warrior in melee combat. The helmet was something he'd have to get used to, but aside from that, he felt right at home inside of the machine. "This is perfect..." He said as he threw a few quick punches. "Whats the first exercise here, amigo?" |

NL Apocalypse: Simulation Room The simulation room itself was a set of 6 different pods on the walls with a large, clear sphere in the center. Once Avenger got into the specified control in one of the 6 pods on the walls, it was moved forward and into the sphere, submerging him into utter darkness. Then, he had the time to get used to the controls... While a simulated battlefield was created around him. From outside, he heard Jagan's voice. "Your primary and only exercise here is a mock battle in a holographically generated environment. You can see the damage meter, as it would be in the NL Demonclaw, on the control panels in the training cockpit. every time you hear a loud buzzer, your mech took critical damage and the damage counter will reset. A loud set of three beeps will signal running out of energy or overheating your weapons, and the counter will reset yet again. Your objective is to keep the counter alive for a period of 10 minutes, at which point the system will eject you out of the sphere automatically. After you are done, meet me in the Hangar." And he walked out of the simulation room, leaving Avenger to piloting in a simulated, virtual environment as he himself gone away towards his own room on the Apocalypse. He had some reading to do. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NL Andromeda: Bridge While Avenger was set up, Desty Nova was enjoying yet another plate of flan as the Rebel Fleet pulled out their newest plan, pincering in on the planet. He took this moment to become aggressive, and put his plate down, motioning for Sechs to pay attention. "Move directly into combat, we are making a full engagement. What is the charge?" Elf replied from his left with a "87%, professor!" Desty nodded, his eyes lighting up in foresight of the battle to come. "Sechs, full engagement! Starboard and Port sides, fire at will! Maximize maneuverability, make sure we are not hit too often! Sechs... While you fly, fire the Particle Rail Cannons! We are going for FULL intimidation! Watch the percentage: By the time it is 100%, line up a good shot on those rebels!" And the Apocalypse turned fully towards the battlefield, blasting right into the center of the havoc, starboard and port cannons blazing, the two cannons on the sides of the primary and attached to the docking rail firing one after another in 2-second intervals. Of course, they were not 100% accurate, but it was REALLY hard to miss in this havoc. While the Apocalypse did not hit any allies, many rebels found themselves on the receiving end of plasma, laser and some hit by blasts from the particle cannons. |

Sim Room Avenger closed his eyes and focused himself on the task at hand. "Simulation starting in ten seconds" The computer voice spoke to the warrior. "Nine" "I can do this. "Eight" "I must do this." "Seven" "You can't defeat me twice." "Six" "Next time we meet..." "Five" "...I will scatter you to the four winds." "Four" "You have no idea what you're up against." "Three" "You will feel my wrath." "Two" "You will know suffering." "One" "Lets do this." The simulation launched Avenger into a full fledged battle, bullets and lasers flying all around him. He couldn't stay awestruck for long, because a missile was headed right for him. "DAMN!" He yelled as he barely moved out of the way, somehow. Desty Nova was right. This thing was incredibly smooth in it's maneuverability. It was at this point he decided to try out the attacks. He kicked in the thrusters, and started slicing through the huge squadron of enemy mechs with the heat whip attack. "Simple enough." He mused as he flipped backwards and posed arrogantly. These words must've been the signal to up the difficulty, as he was now surrounded by enemy mechs, and being pelted with machine-gun rounds. The damage counter was quickly counting down, when Avenger tried a desperate move to keep it going. "Instant transmission. The only way to travel." Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, he was on the other side of the map, away from the angry mob of enemies. "Time to rest up." He said as he hid against a rock, allowing the counter to recharge. "Five minutes remaining." The AI spoke. "Phew... I just have to hide out a little longer... What the--!?" He said as he noticed a group of ten enemies flying right at him, guns and lasers blazing. Avenger made the mech do a quick cartwheel out of the way, and decided to charge up his most powerful attack, the Lightning Wings. "Lightning Wing! Death Ball! Go!" He yelled as he launched the gigantic sphere at his pursuers. BOOM! The entire area was destroyed, with various mech parts lying scattered throughout, and the Demonclaw unscathed, due to the force field around it. "DAYUM SON! THATS WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!" Avenger yelled happily as he surveyed the chaos he created. Of course, this sent more enemies his way. He was prepared this time, though, and armed up his pulse cannon. He sped through the large group, guns ablazin', and easily took out half of his opposition. At that, point, he decided to try out his melee skills. He flew over to one of the remaining mechs, and impaled it with the beam claw, and then spun around, taking the head off of another mech. Thats when he heard the computer say "Simulation over." and he was spat out of the pod, face first to the ground. "Damn. Could've been a little nicer, y'know." He said with a grin while looking at his former housing. He received his grading via a piece of paper spat out of the machine. B-, it read, stating he was reckless, and a bit too arrogant, but very resourceful and agile. Satisfied with his grading, he walked out to the hangar, and awaited his guide's return. |

Avalon Didymus had to act quick... ...and he did. As Maria's sword came around at his mech, he quickly lifted his own sword up, around his rifle, in a position that blocked Maria's blade. His rifle was already raised, too, and he fired off yet another shot at point-blank range. Meanwhile, whether or not they were literally forming a noose-shape, the loyalist fleet in battle with Peterson was closing like one around a neck, but actually attempting to form something of a sphere around Peterson's group, preparing to unleash their grav wells and pulverize the mechs and ships they engulfed... |

Andromeda Hangar Avenger had to wait for a good 10 minutes after arriving to the hangar, Jagan arriving at exactly 20 minutes after Avenger started the simulation. He actually looked somewhat pleased, the very first non-stoic expression that anyone besides his own team has ever seen on that face. And what was REALLY strange is that the Apocalypse has now made SEVERAL passes through the battlefield with no problem, and none of it shook at all, even when flying at such high speeds and some blasts hitting the shield of the ship rather hard. This was no ordinary battleship. in the hangar, one could even look outside through thin slits of see-through metal to watch the battle and could SEE that the Apocalypse was pelted with as much firepower as any ship its size could take, already judged to be one of the biggest threats on the Loyalist side. Jagan nodded once to Avenger as he passed by the man. "Your performance was extraordinary, especially for a pilot who has only recently seen such controls. Do not let arrogance and hatred cloud your sight, and your next simulation will be ranked even higher. We are to deploy outside before the Apocalypse fires the Solar Lance. Please be quick." He walked up to the NL Demonclaw's housing and pressed a button on the side, releasing the locks and lowering the mech to ground level. The cockpit already had a rope ladder ready for just this occasion. He didn't wait at all as he walked over to his own mech, the NL Andromeda, and released IT from its housing. Then, he was picked up by gravity and lifted upwards and into the opening cockpit, the sphere with no apparent controls. The mech closed up and the red lines between the armor plates activated. And just as the Andromeda lifted into the air slightly, the Apocalypse veered away from the battlefield, again taking long-range broadside position as its launch ramp deployed. |

Apocalypse: Hangar "Ropes? I don't need no stinking ropes!" Avenger quipped, referencing a favorite movie of his. He took to the skies just long enough to slide into his new toy. The helmet came down over his head, and the cockpit closed up, sealing him in tight. "Heh, not as comfy as my previous ride, but far more efficient in battle, if its anything like my simulation was." He said through the communication uplink. "Just tell me where to go, and I'm there." |

-Avalon- Peterson’s Assault Peterson sighed. It didn’t look like the attack was going to work…If only he had more troops, but, we wasn’t able to get them… “Maria, we need to pull back!” A pause. “…Maria?!” Maria’s Attack Boom! The rifle hit, but Maria’s shield was able to take the brunt of the damage, but she was still pushed back, and her mech was now defenseless. “Maria, we need to pull back!” Maria coughed, reaching for the communications. “…Maria?!” “I’m here sir…” Maria said, “Took a bad hit…Didymus is here…” Peterson growled, back on his end. “Hang on Maria!” he shouted, and kicked on his boosters, “Everyone, get ready to help out the other attack, then prepare for a retreat! We’ll have to fall back, but we’ve done some lasting damage and probably bought Fornax some time!” With that, Peterson’s fleet began to move out of the sphere, blasting through and heading around the planet, attempting to create confusion among the Loyalist ranks whose communications were still not up. -The Normandy- Holding Bay On the ship, tucked away was an old blue police box. It was locked, and no one was in it at the moment. If anyone tried to open it, they would find it impossible. Command Center “Certainly a bit of a sticky wicket you got yourself into…” a man with a British accent, brown suit, and red shoes said, walking in with apparently no concern for protocol. “Communications scrambled, eh?” The odd man pulled out a small cylinder, and walked towards the communications array, fiddling with the small cylinder… (The Doctor is here…) |

T.R.S. Normandy, bridge (Is that where Doctor is, Irony?) A pair of marines, for obvious reasons, moved to block the Doctor. "Halt!" one of them said. "Identify yourself!" Avalon high orbit Didymus may have moved in to dispatch Maria. Her mech was offline, practially. Immobile. Its weapons drained. Had it been a one-on-one, Maria's life would have been in Didymus's hands. In fact, even if it wasn't, but just a more isolated fight admidst a larger battle, it still may have been. Didymus, as you may have guessed, tries to be an honorable soldier, and as such, he has issues with dispatching a defenseless opponent...but he also understands that not doing so when the chance is there may only result in that opponent simply returning to fight against him another day. So, if he had the chance, would he have dispatched Maria on the field, with her mech helpless? Maybe. As it was, however, he did not get that chance (not here, at least). Other rebel mechs and fighters swarmed in to protect their disabled commander... ...and Didymus, in his mech, saw something on his tactical display that. "Form up..." he said to the other loyalist mech pilots which had joined his attack on Maria's, well, attack. "...it looks like we have their attention." he said, noticing how the rebel fleet was heading their way. Even though a loyalist battle group had finally arrived to support them, Didymus was uncertain if the forces on this side of Avalon could withstand the entirity of the attacking rebel fleet. However, like I said, he tries to be honorable. Uncertain, even, perhaps, nervous and/or afraid as he was, he wouldn't back down, not before he knew just what he and his brothers-in-arms could do. And, in fact, Peterson's position was growing increasingly precarious. If Didymus and the battle group by him held, then he would be pincered and enveloped by the loyalist forces that were chasing him as he attempted to disengage them... |

-The Normandy- Control Bridge “Ah, yes, of course,” The Doctor said, reaching into his pocket, and pulling out a small black wallet, “Here, my credentials.” He flipped the wallet open and showed them a piece of paper where an I.D. card would be. To a psychic, someone with some psychic training, or a genius, it would appear blank, nothing on it. But, to these two marines, it would say what it needed to say. For this particular time, it would have a picture of The Doctor on it, and official Alliance Seal and access things that one would need. Under the name though, was still ‘The Doctor.’ “I believe this should work,” he said, tossing them the wallet, then flipped on his Sonic Screwdriver, the odd device he was wielding earlier, and put it to the communications device… -Avalon- “Everyone, their communications are still offline, and we’re not looking for heroes! He rush in, rough them up for a couple seconds, then get a retreat, understand!” Peterson ordered more then questioned. Peterson himself blasted towards Maria, using his mech to get hers to safety, while some soldiers continued to hold Didymus and the other Alliance fighters off… |

(I recently got Sins of a Solar Empire, so perhaps I should be more in the mood for this kind of thing. Anyway...) Avalon With their communications being restored, via various technicians and the Doctor, perhaps, the loyalist fleet was getting even more organized. Although they had done some harm, the rebels were doubtlessly retreating. (Irony, prepare ideas for the next phase. Expect a PM from me sometime tonight.) |

Avalon Orbit As the Andromeda launched, shooting into the darkness of space, the launch ramp picked up and deployed, the two mechs drawn into the airlock, where the first seal closed and the second opened, releasing air and revealing the open launch ramp for both of the mechs. The Andromeda linked itself into the catapult and launched, the pilot transmitted an answer to Avenger. "You are free to make your own decisions on the battlefield and about which missions you are to take and where to go. As long as you are never actively opposing Professor Nova, your actions are approved." And with that, the Demonclaw was settled into the catapult and launched as well, shot into the open confines of space. The moment the Demonclaw left the launch ramp, it closed up and sealed, the cannons returning to their original positions, the primary barrel glowing so brightly that it must have attracted SOME attention. And as the Rebel fleet continued to retreat, the NL Apocalypse faced towards the retreating ships and their area of gate-out. Inside the ship, Desty Nova simply said one word. "Fire." And all hell broke loose. The glow in the primary barrel intensified, and it almost looked as though it was drawing some sort of energy through the opening of the barrel, the cannon glowing brighter and brighter until it looked like a glowing, long rod of energy. And then, a lancing beam of light erupted from it, blasting past the Andromeda and Demonclaw, past the Loyalist fleets and right into the center of the retreating rebellion forces. The lance of light then impacted its target, a lone advance cruiser, leaving less than dust of the ship in its wake. But that wasn't all... The moment the beam of light impacted with the ship, it was as if someone just set off a cruiser-sized Deep-Space Hydrogen Torpedo off in the middle of the retreating force. The blast spared nothing in its wake, expanding like a miniature supernova, eradicating a good fraction of ships from the very center of the enemy. The expanding energy fluctuation, however, caused even more damage as ships that were halfway through a hyperspace gate were suddenly deprived of an anchor and simply cut in half or pieces went missing as the hyperjump gates were forced to shut down, splitting the ships into two pieces, one to remain in real space and one cut into hyperspace. That effectively put the rebels into a rapid backpedal in the presence of the Apocalypse and the overwhelming Loyalist forces. But there were still those few who saw no other choice but to fight and fought on, and those were the ones that the Andromeda hunted for. The last of the forces, the rearguard, was suddenly being decimated by a single mech with two swords that did not go for any ranged weapon at all and just slashed through the opposition, boosters making it maneuver faster than any light space fighter could. |
