I can't see what you're imagining
Here it is, the first RP of the year! 2008.

Happy New Year everyone.

Blood and Iron

Sonic Rapid Board's very first Giant Robot RP.

__________

The jungle was ominously silent as a large black building loomed upon the small amount of land Fornax held.

The top of this large building opened ominously, energy crackling in the building, building, growing, doing something that pushed the laws of physics to the breaking point.

Inside, technicians were everywhere, scrambling as the machine took aim at their few targets.

Dark Matter…a substance found everywhere in the universe, but has next to no interaction on the average human’s life, despite how much of it fills the space around their atoms.

The machine, one could almost describe it as a laser cannon, adjusted slightly, taking aim at several satellites high in orbit.

Upon a large ship orbiting the planet along with the six moon colonies, a dark figure stared down towards the planet, flanked by his assistant.

“The Dark Matter Solidifier is working, correct?” the dark figure grumbled low, looking through the glass-like material that allowed him to see the planet.

“Correct sir,” a female voice behind him said, “Shall I send word to the Resistance Leaders now?”

“No…Not yet. Once it works. We don’t want to jump the gun,” the male figure said, waving his hand slightly, “Soon.”

Back on the planet, their was the whine of engines, as power gathered, and shot upwards, spiraling into the sky.

It split once it hit a satellite, sending them off to other satellites, which then aimed the beams precisely in the right direction.

After the beams had been fired, the satellites shook, then exploded in a small nuclear fury, their atoms ripped apart.

-Avalon, Capital City-

The city exploded in a fiery light, the Dark Matter Solidifier ripping apart the city and all of it’s inhabitants, and like the satellites, their atoms torn apart when the Dark Matter stopped it’s ineffective state of being, and existed on the physical plane normal people inhabit.

Elsewhere in this part of the galaxy, planets not part of the Resistance were attacked as well, their long range communication destroyed along with the cities they were in.

The first blow was fired.

-Rebel Ship: The Righteous Indignation. Orbit Over Fornax-

“Very good…” the dark figure from earlier, “That should buy the rebellion enough time to take over. Earth won’t send reinforcements until they’re sure that weapon is destroyed, and we’ve taken out any of the Loyalist Long Range communications.”

“Yes sir,” the woman paused, then seemed to listen into her ear, “Sir, I’ve just received a report. The Dark Matter Solidifier is still standing, but it’s non operational.”

“Well, tell them to get to work on repairing it. And make sure that information doesn’t fall into the wrong hands,” the man sighed, waving his hands idly, “Now make sure our mechs are ready. The High Rebel Command is going to want a full report.”

“Yes sir,” the female said, then walked away, into the hallway.

Chuckling the man picked up a phone by his desk, and spoke into it.

“Hello. This is Rebel Field Commander Richard Peterson. Make sure to keep a close eye on the political struggle on the Loyalist Planets. We’ll want to know who we’ll be dealing with…Oh…”

He paused, then smirked, “Get the fleet ready…”

Two months later…

In a shipyard orbiting Avalon, one could see a massive ship painted white. It was bulky, but sleek. Big, but at least giving the appearance of being graceful. On its side, written in huge, black letters, was…

NORMANDY
T.R.S. Normandy-Observation Deck

A shipyard in high orbit over Avalon-Observation Deck

That ship…this rank…these people...entrusted into my stewardship…this position, given to me at such a young age…what gifts! What responsibility! At my young age, too. I must be honorable. I WILL be honorable. I God’s name, I shall conduct myself honorably in the trying battles to come.

A man in a dress uniform stood, an earnest, but gentle look upon his face. Well, a young man, more like. Indeed, he was a teenager, but the rank insignia on his shoulders and on his hat revealed that he was privileged with a position given usually only to men or women decades older than he.

“Colonel Didymus.”

The young man, Didymus, turned toward the lieutenant who spoke to him, and returned her salute.

“The pilots are arriving, sir.” the lieutenant said.

“Very good.” Didymus replied. “Show them here.”

“Yes sir.”

Didymus stood, eagerly awaiting the pilots he was to lead (or, at least, try to).

Pollock VI

In a dimly-lit office on the 101st floor of a building in Corporate City, a well-dressed man was talking to a group of rather shady-looking individuals.

“Fornax’s dark matter weapon is still offline…of course I know that! Everyone does. It’s common knowledge now. They have NO idea how to wage an espionage war. And am I to understand that the loyalist have developed a cure to our newest viral weapon?”

“Yes, sir, Mr. Upfield.” One of the people in front of his lavish desk said. “And need I remind you, sir…”

“I don’t care what it does to our image! Is it financially beneficial?”

“Well, yes, I suppose using biological weapons does keep mercenary prices low due to-”

“Good. That being the case, I think I’ll use some of our surplus to…well, that will be all, gentlemen. Dismissed.”

The other men in the room left, mumbling and chattering amongst themselves, and when they had left that office, Upfield spoke.

“Secretary.” He said into a communicator. “Get me the residence of Mr. Roger Smith.”

-Rebellion Colonial Zone-

Several planets made this zone, most of them at war, though there was a neutral planet.

Fornax, with it’s six moons, the rebillion headquarters, and home of the Dark Matter Solidifier (currently broke).

Avalon, still reeling from the destruction of it’s capital city and long range communication devices, shut off from Earth, only able to contact those within the quadrant. However, it was still somewhat vibrant, and was the current seat for the Loyalist Government.

Pollock VI, a barren world, where companies swooped upon it’s vast treasure trove of natural resources, building life support colonies on it, saying that terramorphing the planet would cost to much. Here, business leaders bid for power of their own, neither joining the Loyalist or the Rebellion. They are much more ruthless then either side, however, and hire mercenaries.

Orion, a peaceful, almost utopian-like planet, and a gem found amongst the stars, with a climate and likeness perfect for Earth people. It has one large continent, and one large ocean, and is incredibly fertile. It is a neutral planet, and provides most of the food for the warring powers. It was not attacked by the Dark Matter Solidifier, as it did not have a communications array capable of contacting past the quadrant. A few wealthy people live there, mostly retired. No one has tried attacking it yet, as it would mean death for billions. Even the Corporations don’t try to invade, for fear of losing the needed foodstuffs for survival.

Orion has no moons, but it does have an extensive defense in orbit around it, in form of battleships and space stations for protection, bought from the surplus of capita it had gained in the past before the war.

"Hmm..." The shadowy figure mused, reading over some of the latest news. There was one particular article that caught his attention.

"Several Earth space colonies have lost their ability to communicate with the home planet, all at once." The headline read, causing the reader's eyes to glow faintly in the darkened room.

"This can't be good..." He said to himself as he spun around in the chair, pencil in his mouth. "Better talk to the crew about this..."

And with that, Avenger walked into the main hall...

-Spork HQ-

The lab was eerily quiet. Only a few sounds could be heard, deep in part of the Lab only The Spork was allowed entrance to. Even Avenger with his Instant Transmission couldn’t get in. Only someone with a ‘key’ could.

He could knock, of course.

-Earth: Jersey City-

“Woohoo!” Coop shouted, grinning brightly and pumping his fist in the air.

Jersey City, like usual, was ruined, and the scattered remains of Coop’s latest robotic enemy was liberally strewn about it.

“Great job Coop. You destroyed the city…Again,” Jamie sighed, sitting in the passenger side, twiddling his thumbs idly.

“That was unnecessary,” Kiva sighed from the back, typing at the hologram computer.

“Yah, yah,” Coop sighed, then peered down at the controls of Megas.

“Now, let’s go get us a slushie!” Coop grinned, pressing a few buttons.

“What are you doing Coop?” Jamie wondered.

“Programmed a slushie tracker into Megas. It’ll bring us to the closest slushie maker automatically!” Coop answered, flipping a shutter, then pressing the final switch.

Megas disappeared in a flash of light…

Hidden Location, Nova Labs HQ

In the dark of the room, nothing could be seen but a bunch of flashing red lights. In utter and complete darkness except those said lights, coming from numerous sensors and computer screens, signified the progression of the experiment. Suddenly, rainbow energy flared into life in the center of the room, revealing a strange machine with a transparent shell around it, a spike in the center of the concealed chamber with four smaller spikes with rings around them pointed at the tip of the largest, central spike.

As rainbow energy flared, it also illuminated a single man, a man in a while lab coat, standing on the side behind the controls. He stood there, utterly calm about the situation, even when facing such a beautiful energy reaction at such humongous power levels. His goggled eyes looked at the phenomenon, looking on and watching for any mistakes. Suddenly, the rings gained a reddish glow and began to surge with red-colored lightning bolts before firing into the ball of rainbow energy, containing it. Suddenly, from above, on the ceiling, a blue ray of energy shot into the contained chamber through the transparent surface and hit the rainbow ball, causing the electricity to wildly spark around it as the color slowly changed... And a humongous, red sphere erupted inside the chamber, it's center as dark and empty as the void itself.

The man in the lab coat smiled.

"Success. Marvelous. This concludes the final test. Prepare the "project" for launch."

The communication screen behind him winked out, and the machine kept whirring, the magnificent, red ball of sparkling electricity producing enough energy to light up the containing sphere by static glow. the man punched the red button, and suddenly the entire red field was ejected... And total vacuum formed in the sphere instantaneously as the black ball expanded, reacting with materials inside the containing field, producing unbelievable energy levels and signatures before finally returning to its original state.

"Such a beautiful sight it is, I cannot help but watch it again and again."

The scientist gave a loud sigh of content before turning around and heading through the door, walking down the rather long hallway and walking through another door, coming into a much, MUCH larger chamber, a docking bay for a most magnificent giant machine. An almost completely black mech of rather large proportions with 8 arrayed, glowing-red lines and dots for eyes, the entire design edged and angular as to increase deflection and aerodynamics. It was powering up, and the energy readings from the reactor showed rather stable... At humongous levels.

Slowly, the clamps released, but the Mech stayed completely afloat before hovering forward slightly. The scientist smirked.

"It works, doesn't it?"

There was only a confirming sound from the pilot as the mech moved forward ever so slightly and turned to face the scientist, whose grin grew all the way to maniacal , almost insane-looking levels as he whipped out a plate of flan out of nowhere and dug in with a spoon. The pilot then put himself on voice projection.

"Ready for briefing, professor."

The lab-coat man nodded. "You are a mercenary. Your files are complete. Go out and have some fun... And do enjoy yourself. It would be incredibly inconvenient if you don't. Does it respond correctly?"

The mech's head quickly nodded. "Yes it does, professor. The response levels are at 10%, civilian level, low threat. All systems are green. It... The Andromeda is happy. It can finally taste freedom again, and this time for a long time."

The man in the lab coat nodded and punched the red button behind him before saluting the pilot just once, almost mockingly, before disappearing in the door. A shimmering field disappeared from the far side of the dock, and the enormous machine floated forward, through the door that opened and onto the base of a rather long-looking rail launchway. Clipping itself into place, the mech settled as the door closed, the field came back up, and a light suddenly shone at the far end of the rail, a passageway opening. Two seconds later, the lights on the walls suddenly lip up, crackling, and the mech was launched upwards and outwards at speeds exceeding a thousand miles an hour, right out the side of one of the mountains of one of the Fornax moons, avoiding all detection and passing into orbit before it showed up on scanners suddenly. The rail's entrance closed, and the secret laboritory was hidden away yet again.

The mech suddenly gathered up, boosters shooting it fully out of orbit and into warp...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Avalon Orbit

And it was here that a Hyperspace Warp opened and the black mech with red eyes suddenly leapt out, the warp closing behind it before it could be traced. And it continued on as its eyes lit up again, activating and exiting hibernation mode. Quickly, it entered orbit and input codes, cruising calmly around the planet within its defensive perimeter.

It was as if it was waiting for something...

And it was waiting indeed. While the input codes for docking were run through the local systems, the mech was in resting mode, following landing protocol and queue, just like any proper pilot.

T.R.S. Normandy, observation deck
Didymus noticed the warp field opening and closing, off in the distance.

Interesting. he thought. Was that one of the mechs assigned to the Normandy? It looked kind of like one...but it is pretty far away.

Entry port, T.R.S. Normandy

Rachel stood there, and straightened her dress uniform's hat again. She figeted a little, with anticipation. She was getting impatient. Regardless, she stood there, facing the doorway, waiting for the pilots to arrive. She checked the list she held by a clipboard again.

"Hmmm..." she mused.

There are only three pilots? Let me see...two guys, one girl? Well, I wish they'd just get here! But I'll wait. The colonel wants me to show them in, and he'd probably want me to be "professional" about it, so I'll keep my back straight and wait for them as long as I need to! she thought.

Avalon Orbital Traffic Control

(I'd like to say, NO single mech in this RP is capable of destroying the defenses of any of the "HQ planets". That is a fact that will be stated here and now. Anyway...)

An officer hailed the Andromeda.

"Mech "Andromeda"." he said. "Your civilian docking code checks out, but we are decting high-grade weapons and defense systems aboard your craft. Please stand down and identify yourself."

Avalon Orbit

At first, there was no response from the "Andromeda"... But then, finally audio suddenly kicked in with no video feed as a response from the mech.

"This is the NL Andromeda, as should be stated by official documentation. The presence of the high-grade weaponry and systems is following the job description. Currently, I am working as a freelancer with no official ranking or job to speak of, and therefore I am permitted to carry high-class weaponry."

The mech turned about, facing suddenly towards the orbiting Normandy, giving it a rather loose scan. Upon revelation of general statistics and equipment, the pilot spoke again.

"Is there any other specific reason for me to check into the Orbital Control System?"

(Of course, TVoL. No mech can take that much firepower. However, any planet attacking another planet will be able to do so with a rather large fleet, wouldn't you say so? That way, we can include stuff like that into the RP and story while keeping it away from god-modding hands.)

(Hey guys! If you want to make a planet, go ahead! The original four are their as bases, and to help keep the amount of planets not to high done.)

-Orbit Over Avalon-

“Well at least this time we just got sent into orbit…” Jamie sighed, looking down at the planet and mistaking it for Earth. He didn’t notice the extra moons.

“Actually…” Kiva said, typing at her hologram computer, “That…isn’t Earth. In fact, I don’t think we’re anywhere in the known galaxy…”

“Well it looks like someone is here…” Coop said, pointing towards the Normandy and Andromeda. Megas waved, and Coop hailed them.

“Hey, any idea where we are?”

-Pollock VI-

Very suddenly, a screen in front of Upfield’s desk flickered on, and a bemused looking scientist with a large mustache grinned, stroking said mustache.

“Hello Mr. Upfield. Do not try to adjust your set, and don’t bother trying to trace this signal. You won’t be able to,” Eggman grinned, peering at the man, “Now, I understand you might have need for mercenaries, no? However, there’s always the chance the mercenaries will turn if the other side offers more money? Well then, I have the solution for you!”

The screen flickered, and suddenly showed a large robot.

“This is my latest creation! An unmanned mech, perfect for your uses. It comes cheap, you don’t have to pay for pilots, and you can either choose a preprogrammed unit to do your bidding, or install one yourself, if you’re not feeling up to trusting the good doctor here,” Eggman grinned, appearing back on the screen.

“Now…” Eggman said, leaning back in his chair over the screen, grinning, “Interested?”

"Great... Locked in again." Avenger muttered. "That guy works waaaaaaay too hard for something he probably doesn't even want to achieve."

With that, Avenger lightly stepped to the door, cleared his throat, and...

PROCEEDED TO BEAT ON THE DOOR WITH INTENSE FEROCITY.

"OPEN THE DAMN DOOR, HOLMES! WE GOTS AN EMERGENCY!" He yelled loudly, almost shattering some of the Professor's various beakers.

"Whoopsie. Forgot about that whole 'demonic scream' thing."

Avalon Orbital Traffic Control

(Indeed, there will be huge planetary assault battles that I intend to write in (and I'm confident that Irony will support) involving massive fleets and huge planetary surface-level armies. Thanks. And Irony, remember, Avalon has 1 moon, like Earth. Anyway, with that being said...)

The officer did a quick check on his system, and, of course, it checked out.

"Very well, Andromeda." the officer said. "But we detected that energy surge from your craft. Please refrain from scanning military equipment without authorization to do so. Other than that, thank you, and welcome to Avalon. Enjoy your stay."

Pollock VI

Upfield was shocked.

"What the-?!?!?!" he said. "Who are you?!?!?!"

However, as Eggman went on with his proposition, Upfield was indeed interested. But he had to know more about that person...

"I am interested." Upfield said. "But sir, first, I must know your name, then, perhaps we can get together for a discussion of a...busniess relationship."

Upfiled smiled a bit at Eggman.

(D’oh! Right…>.<…Anyways, giant planetary battles? Sounds awesome.)

-Pollock VI-

“Ah, how naïve of me. I assumed you know about the great Doctor Eggman,” Eggman chuckled, “So, Mr. Upfield, a get together? I may be able to be by your building, in oh…”

He glanced somewhere off the screen.

“An hour or so?”

-Spork HQ-

The door suddenly swung open, AGoI, wearing a helmet one uses when welding over his head, though not over his face at the moment.

“Don’t do that,” he hissed, “You almost broke one of the Jusenkyo Curses I’ve been studying and that would have been very bad. Ring the doorbell.”

He jabbed towards a button by the door. “Honestly. Now what is it?”

-Avalon Orbit-

“Hey, hello!” Coop yelled, Megas waving it’s arms wildly, “Directions or anything here?”

"I apologize. However, the scan I performed was a generalized scan for type and class search instead of in-depth which would have alerted weapons systems. I assumed that such low-grade scans were within the ability of any pilot, including a civilian, to make. If I am wrong, correct me. The energy surge was from an exit from a personalized hyperwarp, and is not dangerous to anything in the immediate vicinity."

The Andromeda made a rather quick turn, facing the giant mech that was waving its arms around, and the same kind of monotone, emotionless voice came through.

"There also seems to be another space-capable machine in orbit as well as myself. Also, I would like a news debriefing on the situation on Avalon if and whenever possible. As a freelancer, I am currently searching for any job opportunities possible."

Avalon Orbital Traffic Control Center

The Normandy had forwarded Megas's hail to AOTCC, and the officer that had just spoken to the Andromeda spoke up.

"Unidentified mech." a bit suprised, perhaps, that someone who had come by did not recognize Avalon he said. "You are in orbit above Avalon. Please identify yourselves."

With that, he awaited a response from Megas.

(Anyway, Irony, please keep in mind, of course, that there are many stations and ships in orbit over Avalon, and that defense ring around its unatmosphered moon, perhaps cities on its moon, too, etc. Kiva, considering where she hails from, may be rather intrigued.)

Pollock VI

Upfield smiled in a very businessman-like way.

"Certainly. I look forward to it." he said.

(Irony, are you using an Eggman who somehow got warped off the "Earth in the Sonic series", if you want to call it that, or a more original Eggman, or what?)

Avalon Orbital Entrance Gate

The Andromeda finally started to move instead of resting, having received permission from Orbital Control. Two boosters that looked REALLY overpowered in comparison to its height of around 15 meters fired up, blasting it towards the checkpoint gate. Upon reaching, it cut all boosters and acceleration almost as suddenly with maneuver thrusters that actually cut his speed and stopped the Andromeda within a second or so. It then turned towards the gate, and slowly floated forward, passing checkpoint and scanners...

And just like all previous time, the scanners did almost nothing to see what was inside the Andromeda. All they could pick up on was the external weaponry, which were a pair of claw entrances, some handles for what looked like blades and rather intense and complex electromagnetic matrix around the Andromeda.

Slowly, it passed through the gate. However, its head was still turned towards the mech that just showed up in Avalon Orbit.

-Orbit Above Avalon-

“Coop…these ships…It’s human all right, but I have no idea where, or when, we are. We never got far before the Gloorf attacked. It’s possible we’re in another dimension,” Kiva said from the backseat, “But all these battle ships signify there might be some sort of war going on, so be careful.”

“Huh? Oh, right, right,” Coop said, waving his hand, then turned back to the screen to continue talking to the Normandy.

“Name’s Coop, and this is my robot, Megas. Nice to meet you,” Coop answered, waving his hand, Megas doing in kind.

Coop was certainly fairly laid back guy…

(I think I shall be using a more original Eggman, Vidit!)

(Alright, then, Irony, but remember, Coop isn't talking to the Normandy. His transmission was forwarded to Avalon Orbital Traffic Control Center.)

AOTCC

The officer was surprised by the laid-back nature of Coop, but nonetheless continued calmly.

"Okay then, sir, please state your busniess." he said.

Corporate City

Upfield watched the feed directly.

So... he thought. A new busniess partner...but I didn't get to where I am today by trust...

"Secretary!" he called. "Get me all information you can find on one "Dr. Eggman"!

With that, Upfield continued to watch as Eggman's ship approached Pollock VI.
