Another Ripoff!

I hope you don't mind me posting this Dicko but I thought it was a problem that needed to be addressed. Copy and pasting news stories is intellectual theft and the website can be sued and shut down if this kind of theft occurs. Writing a story as your own can also lead to criminal proceedings, especially if the story turns out to be a false one. The best way around any legal proceedings against any of us for theft of intellectual property is to just write a small description of the news story, followed by a link to the full story. I am sure you have seen me doing this kind of thing since I arrived on RLT. The safest way is to set it out like this: Topic title: Louis Anderson signs for Wire Post: Louis Anderson, younger brother of current Warrington star Vinnie, will be wearing primrose and blue alongside his older sibling from 2008. He has signed a 2 year contract Full story - SportingLife If anybody is unsure about any of this, or how to set a link as I have, please do not hesitate to contact myself or another member of the Administrator or Moderation team. This obviously goes for anything contained in a website, not just the main post. Don't copy and paste anything, just describe it and then link it as above. Try not to put the full link in the post. Use the http:// button which will bring up a box. Enter the web address followed by the website name or a very short description of what it directs you to. All admins and moderators should follow this rule and enforce it. You have the power to edit a post, so use it and leave a small message in red text explaining what you have done and why. Thankyou very much CC |

No, if you get caught then both yourself and the site can be prosecuted. Just to play it safe, put a small description of the story and then link to the full story |

Few people do, I think it may actually be in the forum guidelines. But people think it only applies to downloading mp3's and the like. Sadly and...well....to but it bluntly, awkwardly, it's stories aswell. |

Aye. Definately. Breaking copyright laws. Secondly if it isnt true and there isnt no direct link you could get done for libel. The forum is responsible at the end of the day. Long as each article contains some sort of Link e.g. Taken from: www.skysports.com or whatever. |

This is true, however, it would make certain that no criminal proceedings were brought, if the story was linked, rather than copy and pasted in either part, or entirely. I believe even a small snip of a story can be counted as copyright theft. So I think, to call it safe, that we should do as I have suggested in the original post and link the story. |

I have to figure out the best way to do it first, some of the text will need to be bolded and coloured, so I need to figure out the best way to send that |
