Over the past few days on both this site and on TalkRL, there's been some discussion regarding setting up a rugby league radio station for a community and network it across several websites. Of course, it is very ambitious, but even thinking about it sounds fantastic.

The money would have to be collected, via funding, member contributions, etc, we would all need some equipment, ie, microphones, sounding, etc for those who want to be a part of the radio, and than some type of time table would have to be setup so that we know what and when things will be on-air.

I wonder if they is any websites around that let you setup a radio station on a free trial period, it would give us some time to test things, etc.

Come on people, get researching!

If anybody could get some information, ie. Talk to the people who run the RLFANS Radio Station for example, that would help out a great deal.

Lets say we got as far as been able to run a rugby league radio station, the time table could consist of music during the days, and music and live user feed during the evenings, when most people would be listening.

The difference with running an online radio station to that of a normal radio station is simple, an online radio station doesnt nessacerily have to be live. All the members and people that would be contributing to the potential station could do so in they're own time, pre-recorded talk/feed and than it could be added to the radio server reading for playing.

Its very ambitious I admit but there's no harm in sharing ideas... <cheekysmile>

this site may help.....
http://www.poromenos.org/tutorials/icecast

Depends on speeds etc etc

So basically if u wanted a chat show it would have to be pre-recorded etc and then set up in a file like songs.

Another Ripoff!

I hadnt actually seen this thread, but I mentioned something similar to a couple of friends of mine who currently run a small online radio station and they were both quite happy to run something along the lines of RLT Radio.

Of course we would need some more regular members on here first, so we kind of need a promotion drive to kick off, obviously with the magazine and a radio station, it could lift off.

Any thoughts?

Trouble is there going to be set times for it to be online or is it going to be all day, and how are we going to do it

We really need a forum discussion on this.

It would have to be on for the space of a couple of hours every night or every other day and/or night for example. We couldnt have it running continously as it would cost too much time and money at such an early stage.
