Just Moriwaki, 2010 World Champion Toni Elias and the first real Moto2 presented even in summer 2008, the protagonist returns this year in the global category thanks all'Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, headed by former pilot training Tadayuki Okada funded by Honda and Two Wheels Motor Racing (promoter of the FIM Asia Road Race Championship and, on behalf of HRC, Asian Dream Cup). For this return Moriwaki MD600 Engineering presented a completely renovated, taking advantage of the qualities of tester Yuki Takahashi, designated driver for this team effort directed by Tadayuki Okada. In addition to the former MotoGP rider, Idemitsu Honda Team Asia will line up in selected events of the 2013 season for a second Moriwaki MD600 Malaysian Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, one of the major players in the Asian championship SuperSports 600cc Honda CBR 600RR 2012 with a team Boon Siew Honda Malaysia, already took to the track at Sepang in recent months for a first test with the Moriwaki Moto2.

Hafizh Syahrin to wildcard in Lemans
Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah's march to the world level takes another step forward with team PETRONAS Raceline Malaysia's announcement that the 18-year-old has been confirmed for a Moto2 Wild Card ride in Round 4 of the World Motorcycle Grand Prix which will be held at the LeMans circuit in France from May 17 to 19, 2013.
With this, Hafizh, whose career has been fast tracked through the Malaysian Cub Prix and the Asia Road Racing series, becomes the first Malaysian rider to wild card overseas. After a season of the Spanish CEV Championship last year and a successful outing on home ground in Sepang, Hafizh is hoping to gain more experience from this coming event.
"My 2013 Moto2 campaign in the Spanish Championship ended with disappointment but I am determined to put this setback behind me and look forward to my next challenge in LeMans. We are making preparations to test in LeMans very soon and I hope to get in some familiarization laps while at the same time, searching for the best set up before the race weekend. The team is making extra effort to provide the best possible arrangement and equipment for my progress, so it is crucial that I learn the new circuit quickly. Racing against the seasoned riders on an unfamiliar track with little data information and knowledge is not going to be easy. But I am determined to rally to the challenge," said Hafizh.
The Moto2 class in the World Championship is a completely different playing field, which is the reason why Hafizh will race on the wild card ticket in 2013.
A rider under the PETRONAS Talent Development Programme (TDP), Hafizh’s achievement not only adds another feather in his cap, but is a motivation to other young riders in the programme.
“We’re very proud of Hafizh’s performance and feel that the wild card round would give him the opportunity to prepare him in a more challenging discipline in motor racing, which is very much in line with the objectives of the TDP,” said Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz, Head of PETRONAS Motorsports.

MotoGP: Michele Pirro Will Replace Ben Spies at Jerez – Ducati Desmosedici GP13 Development Bike to
Posted by advo (House of Lords) at 2 May 2013, 03:26 AM. 0 comments

With the news that Ben Spies will skip the upcoming race in Jerez, and instead nurse his injured shoulder, Ducati has unsurprisingly tapped its GP test-rider Michele Pirro to replace the American for the Spanish GP.
Taking one of his three planned wild card rides this year, Pirro will not only help fill the ranks in the Pramac Ducati squad, but will also campaign the Ducati Desmosedici GP13 development bike during the race weekend.
A rolling testbed for Ducati’s technical developments in MotoGP, improvements made by Ducati Corse for the Desmosedici make a final stop on Pirro’s test bike before they make their way into the MotoGP teams’ garages.
A former GP-rider himself, Pirro is one of the few test riders capable of putting the GP13 under the same intensities as the four MotoGP riders in Ducati, and thus his laps and input are critical factors in developing the GP13 for Ducati Corse.
Spotted in the pre-season during the official MotoGP tests, Pirro’s development GP13 has been seen with noticeable differences to the chassis, and presumably even more modifications hidden within the engine and electronics.
Ducati corse says he will test a number of new parts on his machine during the weekend, which should bring some valuable data back to Bologna for the engineers. What will be even more interesting to see is Pirro’s results, and how they compare to the other three Ducati riders.

Kevin Schwantz Returns to Motorcycle Racing – Enters the Suzuka 8-Hours with Team Kagayama
Posted by advo (House of Lords) at 2 May 2013, 03:21 AM. 0 comments

Former 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz has certainly been in the news a bit these past few months, mostly for his involvement and falling out with the Circuit of the Americas and the Americas GP, but also more recently for his comments regarding Dani Pedrosa — we also sat down with Mr. Schwantz in Austin, and the Texan gave us some sobering insight into the future of American road racing.
As if all that wasn’t enough, Schwantz is making a return to two-wheeled racing, and has entered the prestigious Suzuka 8-Hours endurance race with Team Kagayama. One of three riders on the team’s Suzuki GSX-R1000, Schwantz will race with Noriyuki Haga and team owner Yukio Kagayama during the eight-hour event.
Teaching these past years at his very own Schwantz School, it’s not like Kevin has been sitting on his duff during his racing retirement, and his teammate Haga should need very little introduction considering the Japanese rider’s impressive career in the MotoGP, WSBK, and British Superbikes.
Less-well-known to our non-Japanese readers though is Yukio Kagayama, who is a regular in the Japanese Road Race Championship, and is a previous Suzuka 8-Hours winner (Haga too is a previous Suzuka winner).
Having raced in World Superbikes with Troy Corser on the Alstare Suzuki team and British Superbikes with Worx Suzuki, Kagayama finally returned to Japan and started his own road racing team in 2011. While Team Kagayama has had a hard time of things in the national circuit the past few years, for 2013 the team is off to a good start with a slew of top-six finishes.
Also member of the 2012 Suzuki Endurance Race Team (SERT) at Suzuka, Kagayama is a highly regarded rider at the famous Japanese circuit, and with Schwantz and Haga on-board for 2013 race, Team Kagayama has a serious claim to a race podium, and even a race victory if things go their way.
Win, lose, or draw, with all the “Free Kevin” love that has been going around, we think this is a great reward for the World Champion’s devout fans — we bet the FIM Endurance World Championship just got an uptick of American viewers for this next round as well. Good stuff.

Spaniards to go head-to-head in Jerez

Monday, 29 April 2013
The Moto3™ season descends on Jerez with a triangular shootout on offer between three home-grown talents. Atop the riders’ table, Alex Rins shares his score with Luis Salom as Maverick Viñales keeps a watching brief from just a further point in arrears.
After two highly dramatic encounters at Losail and Austin, Rins leads the way. The 17-year-old Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider from Barcelona has impressed many across the opening two rounds of the campaign, not least as he was forced to overcome both a red flag stoppage, two starts and a charging Salom to triumph for the first time in Texas. Salom had already won the opening race a fortnight earlier whereas Rins finished third, meaning they each sport 41 points in the overall battle for honours.
Refusing to give in and just one point behind the leading Red Bull KTM Ajo representative is Team Calvo’s Viñales. He sits on 40 points, which would have perhaps been seen as a below-par figure at the start of the pre-season period; however during the final test he crashed and lost a finger tip at the very circuit he will be visiting this weekend, resulting in constant pain which makes his consistency of late all the more striking. Rounding out the championship top five are Jonas Folger and Miguel Oliveira, hoping Germany and Portugal will be able to share some of what has been predominantly Spanish delight so far this year.
Caretta Technology - RTG’s Jack Miller put on a good show in Texas and will aim to bring his Honda-powered FTR close to the front once more, whilst fellow Australian Arthur Sissis on the Red Bull KTM Ajo bike looks to improve on his 12th place in the last race – having suffered at the time from a slightly injured right wrist. His teammate Zulfahmi Khairuddin did well to finish seventh in the US, but the podium will once again be his aim in the south of Spain.
The Moto3™ field also welcomes Marc VDS Racing Team’s Livio Loi this weekend, as he makes his debut in the World Championship after reaching the minimum age of 16. He looked strong in pre-season testing and will no doubt be hoping for a successful debut. Two wildcards will be taking part in the form of Thomas Sabo GP Team’s Kevin Hanus of Germany and Spanish rider Jorge Navarro with MIR Racing.
Moto3™ has the responsibility of launching the first free practice session in Jerez on Friday, kicking off at 9am local time (GMT +2).
