Sorry Fran I will correct that. I myself call them all Jack Russells regardless of height. I would like to know what is the height of the tallest Jack Russells in the JRTC of America. In Australia I have seen a few out of a particular strain up to 18 Inches at the shoulder. One of Australia,s greatest working dog sires was 17 inches at the shoulder and sired some very smart types from 11 to 13 inches. He was used extensively at stud and was the cornerstone of the " Swampfox" kennells. He was used on all game and could climb trees like a cat. Having such a small chest on him he could fit in alot of dens as well. Fran is correct. The JRTCA registers Jack Russell Terriers just as the JRTC of Australia registers Jack Russells and not Parsons. The height standard calls for a maximum of 15 inches, but we have seen a couple of Jack Russells well over 15 inches. This is no different than a ANKC or FCI Jack Russell that is over 12 inches or under 10 inches. It happens.
