BusFreeze was great! I'm not surprised your fence blew down! Did your house flood? What a weekend! Gales were forecast and gales arrived on time. The M6 was blocked both ways as bits of tree and vehicle 'dropped' onto the carriageway. There were numerous accidents and smashes. It's amazing no one was seriously injured. We've since heard a camper was destroyed on the motorway and many punters never made it to the event as they simply turned back as conditions worsened. The traffic was horrendous and even a few traders never made it through the winds, rain and general carnage. Add to this a general postal strike so we couldn't send out passes and had to rely on email (less useful than a postal service in reality as emails tended to get flagged by virus monitors). Then there was the UK recession and the fact that it was a first show of its kind. We also saw people camp for the first time at the showground - I heard that one pop-top departed company and briefly thought it was a kite... I was helping outside for some of the day. The show and shine field was much lower than anticipated because those with shiny vans simple knew the score and didn't want to risk it. I don't blame them. Who'd be mad enough to bring out a Samba in those conditions? However, all up it was a success. About 3000 attended. We had some big gaps in the halls where trade failed to get through and so did some of the exhibition vehicles. The emails and calls we've been getting have been overwhelmingly positive. Just one upset individual on the day, for reasons that none of us can work out. http://www.expressandstar.com/2009/11/02/thumbs-up-for-vans-at-camper-show/ Yes, that's me on the RHS, next to Terry, crouching and fighting a strong wind with a bad blown hair-do. Mad, eh? The photographer was keen to get the van's VW sign in the background. What you can't see it that both Terry and I are being made to crouch low in a puddle. Only got back at the weekend after a 2 day stop-over in Singapore. Had a few visa issues enroute too. The storm we thought we left behind seemed to follow us to Brisbane airport. But that's another story. Pity you couldn't make it. Perhaps next year as the show's in October then. P. Edited by PC Pom, Nov 9 2009, 01:13 AM.

Sounds like a fantastic day - didn't know you were going to be over for it - typical hey! Well the weather was horrendous wasn't it - no I wouldn't bring out my pride and joy either! No floods for me - live on the top of a hill so we always suffer some sort of damage when the wind picks up! Glad it all went well - will definitely be there next year!
