HIGH ALTITUDE SICKNESS: What is it???

Being stuck up in Toowoomba for months will make you 'sick'. (Especially in winter) It did me, I was sick of the cold, the ice on car, the road trains, and no shopping on Sundays.

Glad I'm back on the Coast now.

Whimps!

I spent my last years in the UK living and working in North Wales. Frozen pipes, thick ice on the car screens and car door locks that would take a kettle of hot water to unfreeze them. When it snowed it REALLY snowed, and if the winter sun didn't settle upon it it simply wouldn't melt for weeks! Trust me, it was cold.

I thought being close to Snowdonia made me a 'die-hard' when it came to the weather. Then a mate dropped by from the Scottish Borders. It was a warm day in the middle of spring. On arrival, so far south, he immediately broke out into a hot sweat and made comment about it being too hot that day!

Whilst my part of the world (Sunshine Coast) has had a few cold nights (down to 6 degrees outside), I'll not complain about the day time temps. For those of you in the UK, 21 degrees and upwards in winter is going to sound unreal. Yesterday I was fixing a gate and whilst the outside temperature was a mild 21, the strength of the sun on my t-shirt clad back was too much (it felt like 30) and I headed for shade. In winter. I ask you. What are we? Whinging poms? :happynod:
