Hi Just been reading the piece on the Koala Konnection site with regard to cars/insurance etc etc. Not that I've got any points on my licence I might add (I'm a good girl ), but I know they're quite hot on with fining you for speeding etc, but what is the limit for points on your licence over there? Do you get a limit and then once you hit it you're banned, like in the UK? Not that I plan on doing this I might add! I guarantee George will be caught speeding within his first week - shall we take bets now? Ta very much. K |

No idea as I'm a good boy - or never been caught I get the feeling that your license will start fresh here unless there is anything serious on it?

Haven't the foggiest. Always had a clean licence, even though I'll admit to going over 70 on the UK motorways just to keep up with everyone else, or not fall too far behind. But then you don't get a ticket for going just over 70, do you? Don't you need to be doing 85 or something? Yes, the police are hot over here. They hide their 4wds and put a little sign out the size of a postage stamp just a few feet from their hidden vehicle to let you know they have a speeding camera. The sign's usually hidden too. I don't know why they bother telling us. You only see it once you're just a few yards away or past their vehicle. Don't get me wrong. Queensland, my home state, seems to be full of people in a hurry. I drive classic cars so I tend to go slow or up to the limit for a good reason. Quite how the 356 is going to take to pottering around is anyone's guess, but I don't think he'll be happy. Brrrrmm, brrrrrmmm!

From what I can gather, you are issued with 12 dermit points on your licence. You lose points for driving offences, eg. 3 points (+ heavy fine) for speeding. Once you use up ALL your 12 points, you can kiss your driving licence goodby for 12 (!) months. From an Aussie traffic cop; up to 10% above speed limit, your OK. Over 10% and your in trouble............................ Aircon
