Yes, as a matter of fact. A mid 60s Beetle with a good engine and a few other bits on it worth the $1200 asking price. I'm going to break it for spares for Mrs Pom's Beetle and my 356. Yes, even early Porsches run on Beetle bits. Well, just a few.

I bet you're impressed. :happythumbs:

How about you? Any news, or is it just 'snooze' on the migration front? At this rate you'll be able to go to BusFreeze in November! :happyspin:

PS. Since Tykes zoomed off to the end of the universe (where are you mate?) and it's just us two for now, I'm thinking of changing the forum name to ANewBugsLifeDownUnder.com

Did you notice we had two new emailers? One in Sales (quiet funny) and one in Money Matters (quite serious). They'll be knocking down the doors this year... :scared2:

I'm here!

Sorry to be so quiet.

Spending a lot of time out on the water :happythumbs:

Just come in now - took a first timer out - gave me such pleasure to see his joy.

Out again tomorrow with my old fisho mate.

Plus other forums seem a bit "edgy" so I don't spend as much time online.

Hope you guys are well.

Oh at this rate will definitely be here for BusFreeze in November and BugFreeze in Feb!!!!

George's occupation has been taken off the CSL list which means we have a long wait ahead of us - could be anything up to 2 years!!!

Thought about changing to a 176, but decided on reflection to stick with the 175, we shall see in the long run if this was the right decision.

Fisty cuffs, eh? How pretty a picture does that present of poms in Australia?

I dunno. Sometimes I think wouldn't it be great to have a really big forum and then I think may be just me and a few friends is all one needs.

I still think I'll try and improve the workings of the forum though - perhaps chuck this freebie and look for another that does email its users when a posting is made, if you know what I mean. If I have to start again I'll use the name Poms in Paradise and keep ANLDU running whilst I do a back to back comparison.

Promises, promises. But I will get onto it. I have to move in stages with work, devoting a week here to this project then a week there to another. These last couple of weeks have been spent sorting out the new look Koala Konnection migration web site. What do you guys think? Let's not get into a fight over it, roight! :sticktongue:

Sorting KK has caused problems with missing images on ANLDU so it'll be those that I see to next. Then back onto KK before anything else.

Russ, great to have you back. Feel free to tell me where I'm going wrong - like not having a boat, a fishing rod, etc. I promise it won't all end in tears... :happyroll:

Kim, I'll put you down for a couple of tickets in November... Go and buy a VW Camper and cheer yourself up or :singingdrunk:

The argumentativeness goes in cycles but with the doom & gloom spreading it gets onto the forums as well.
In one forum a member has been banned now and another antagonist has left so hopefully it will calm down in that forum.

An email feedback thingie for replies would be such a good option - certainly would get the group going more.

You going wrong at fishing???

Look for some local fishing forums.
You'll find a lot of advice there - fishos are not a bad bunch and normally willing to help out newer ones - just don't ask for secret spots - that will come in time.
I've been taken under two locals wings here and am defintely benefiting from it - we all get something out of it - they get more time out on the water and costs are shared.

Often reports are posted - not often that "specific" spots are mentioned.......

Here is mine for the last 2 days in my local fisho forum............

The last 2 days have proved very satisfying.

Tuesday I ventured out South and pottered around near the Onk mouth and Christies Beach.
Still studying the area and trying to find some promising spots.

Great weather, flat calm - just how I like it Smiley

Taking a leaf from Waterboy's book.......
I had a guest onboard.
An Ex pat like myself who had never been out fishing on a trailer boat.
Gave me great satisfaction to his excitement at seeing the Area from a different angle.
The downside was there was not much fish coming onboard - just ended up with some nice fat Tommies ( they seem bigger down south).

Yesterday was a different day again.
I've teamed up with a retired gent who loves fishing and has a lot of experience to share - we both get something out of it.
Went out Metro.

Weather perfect again and it certainly was not what was forecast.
Ended up with 40 Gar ( seem to be getting smaller), only 2 KGW - but big ones,a few Red Mullet, some small Tommies,13 squid and 2 cuttlefish.

I get constant advice and tips while "on the job" - a great way to get up to speed.I've only been fishing /boating for 6 months.

One piece of advice has been about handling squid and getting them onto the boat AFTER they have spit their ink.
"Keep em pointed away from ya!"

Oh yes that happened when a rather large Cuttlefish was coming into the boat.
Mr Cuttlefish then launched his "secret stash" of ink - over my entire bottom half and just about every surface of the boat! icon_lol icon_lol
Good to see my pristine new boat looking like a proper fishing boat now. icon_lol icon_lol

Nice one thanks. Not a bad idea - just got to persuade George!! He can have the tent and I'll have the camper, sounds like a plan. Definitely have more of this

Like the new layout of KK - only had a quick peak at lunchtime today, getting late now so will have another look tomorrow.

The doom and gloom and the constant Aus -v- UK does really get on my nerves, there's just no need. Hopefully things will calm down now (fingers crossed). Noticed you have been a little quiet lately.

Sounds like the fishing is going really well. I don't mind boats and fishing, but had a really bad ear infection when I was younger and its affected my balance, so boats just have this effect on me now :X

Ooh couldn't have them trashing my camper (I wish) - they'd have to go in the tent with George (what an awful mother!! ;) )

morning!

Er... Wrong end of the stick (rod?) mate.

It was just a piss-take (mistake) on posters having an argument.... Doh!

Sometimes life (my postings) can be a little confusing. However, I'm a wiser man for al the fishing tips - even though I've only ever fished twice in my life, and that was when I was about 14 without a licence. Caught 8 roach one day and nothing the next. Fortunately I had not gone out and bought heaps of expensive gear - just made myself a beautiful float and hook box to place the shiny new floats and hooks in and carried an old cane rod and wooden fly fishing reel on my bike. Most of my mates were caught up in it, big time. I quickly lost interest and went back to skateboarding.

Now if I had a boat...! Actually, I love an old restored wooden speed boat. Something classic from the 50s or 60s to tow behind the old Porsche. Let's see what else I can mortgage...

Hence Quad bikes and not two wheels Kim?

I don't mind 2 wheels - unfortunately George has sold his motorbike now, still go to watch MotoGP and Superbikes though. Quad biking is something I am definitely going to do more of, great fun.
