Yesterday I bought another Beetle. This poor thing had lots of money spent on it and so mechanically it should be ok. New engine, brakes, etc. And the body is quite good save for a bit of hail damage and bent wings and bumpers - all easily fixed/replaced. It's a 67 model so it'll do as a spare parts vehicle for the '65. Mrs Pom has already said she's having the interior (red instead of her brown) and a few other 'better' bits to swap. So that's 4 VWs, 1 Porsche and a Scooby Doo under the house. Am I doomed? I think I may be...

Bloomin' heck Paul.

Looks like a nasty case of addiction there mate! :happynod:

It's when you go out and pat them on a night that I'd worry.

Now you are really trying to make me jealous aren't you!!

So what's this one called then - come on as you know VW's all have names. ;)
Have now found the box with my pictures of Basil in - will sort it out asap.

Took Douglas to the beach yesterday. He loved it! Probably his 6th outing now.

Didn't pat him last night, but did give him a nice wash to get rid of all that salt spray before tucking him in.

:happyroll:

He hasn't got a name, Kim. Bit odd, I know, but he's going to be used as a donor car for a while and who knows whether he will make it back in one piece to see the road again. Hope so. Bits of him will go into Douglas, bits into Eric (the Porsche) and no doubt a few bits into Bomber (the Bus). Even Freddie (the Fastback) might get his share. Beetle bits are easy to get over time so all's not lost.

We have the technology. We can rebuild him! Perhaps he should be called the Bionic Bug! :happythumbs:

Hey up,

Finally found a picture of Basil - taken some years ago at a VW show at Tatton Park. He's a 1973 model - original colour with a 1.3 engine. Best car I've ever had - never let me down once. Always a little "ropey" in winter (didn't like the cold) and had to sit on the hill after leaving work with one foot on the accelerator and the other on the brake and just keep revving him until I could give him a blast on the dual carriageway and then he'd be fine!!!

He had a completely original interior/all original seats etc and still had his original wheels.

Kim :D
