I've recently updated the AUS STORIES tab above (see top index) with a story about our own house building experience, here in Queensland, shortly after we arrived.

It then occured to me that since every migrant will be faced with this dilemma, (to build or to buy?) it might be worth asking people's opinions on the subject. We built because we couldn't find the "ideal house". Does it ever exist even after you've built, I wonder? :happynod:

Feel free to take a look at what we had built and how long it took to get us there (plenty of words and pics) and perhaps let us know your experiences if you too built. If you didn't build, were you ever in a position that you might have done but were put off the process? I'd have to say I'd be reluctant to do it again...

Good area to talk about Paul'

It does seem easy and cheaper to build but I've seen so many nightmares.
Some people get so sick of the process here that as soon as the house is ready they sell it!

Great read - even got the OH to sit down for 5 and read it (believe me that is a miracle).

Its something that we've thought about with George being in the trade, something for the future maybe?

Thanks. :happythumbs:
