Well after months of research we went out with a boat dealer to water test a boat.

I'd asked opinions on loads of fishing and boating forums and they always came back to this boat.

It's practical but comfortable,a real base for sea fishing, even in open and deeper water when I get braver ;)
Mrs Tyke loved it so it is a joint decision.

Not the cheapest boat in the world and I've added lots of extra safety features and other stuff to make use easier.

Gulp - just given the dealer my deposit cheque.

Delivery in 4 weeks - just as I hopefully pass my Seamanship course and get my boat licence

The pictures don't do the craft justice,it is actually 5.5 meters or 18.5 ft long.

Here ya go...................

I've been running a "Name the boat" competition in the local Adelaide forums.Had some great suggestions so far.

Can you tell I'm excited?????????????????? :happyroll: :happyroll: :happyroll: :happyroll:

So long as it's bigger than a Great White's jaws I'd be happy. Is that a Marlin biting the bloke's finger?

I'd name it after your business and claim it as tax deductible...

Or name it "Tax Deductible" and then you can say it is anyway...

Or, with a play on words linking the your local ocean and the task for which it is intended - " Great Aussie 'Bite' "

I'll get me coat...

You've had your thinking hat on for names . :happynod:

I've got to keep it fairly short as there may be times when I have to spell phonetically.
Suppose I better think of re sale as well, hopefully not for a long time though!!!!!!!!!!!!

The girls wanted to call the boat "Betty"...I ask ask you

Have you managed to pick a name yet?

Just been having a look at the internet, but can't find anything funny enough - nowhere near as good as Paul's anyway!

I'm still open to suggestions but it has narrowed down a lot now.

I'm sad - doing mock ups of the names in different fonts /colours.

:rolleyes2:

You've stumped me. I can't think of any sensible ones. BTW I have a friend who drives a car called Betty. And yes, it is a Beetle!

Going off track slightly and not that interesting but my first Beetle was called Betty! Can't wait to get over there and get another one.

Back on track.............. :happynod:

Our new boat is to be called..........................................

"Jean Genie"

In large graphics on the hull

Thanks to a certain Judy from H2H for prompting me in this direction also a big nod to Heathertoes from another forum.

Not everyone's cuppa - but.

Easy to say, easy to remember, has a ring to it.
Phonetically easy to spell for me.
Slightly feminine name.

This comes from my musical roots.I'm a big David Bowie fan and in the 70's followed him to quite a few concerts.
I also led the excessive lifestyle as well and felt I'd not make it past 25 ( Referencing Bowie's Lyrics on "All The Young Dudes")
Now after surviving another 25 years well, it's a personal thing

Thanks to all who threw themselves into this competition,I was suprised at how much effort some went to - but very pleased.

Delivery is around 2 weeks time now - then I have to get the anchor winch fitted and then the graphics done.

Can't wait,can't wait,can't wait!!!!
