Hi there,

Im new on here and in the planning stages of a ery long journey.

I an Joanne, Im a midwife and me, my hubby and 13year old daughter have decide we want to make the aussie move. Have narrowed it down to Perth, Brisbane or Gold Coast and any help or advice would be great.

We curently live near the beach so wold like to stay near the beach, we have a dog that we would want to take, ive heard that could cost me anything from £1000-£3000 GBP.

I am possibible going to lok into spnsorship as we dont own a house here to sell but are saving madly.

My hubby is over 45 but has lots of sports qualifications and has been a prison officer for 17 years.

Anyway a big HELLO to everyone and please any advice would be great.

Hi Jo.

Welcome to the message board. My name's Paul, I have lived in Queensland an amazing four years now (doesn't time fly?) about 60 miles north of Brissie. This is a young forum but we are gathering momentum so look out for Aircon who is living on the Gold Coast. He pops on here every couple of weeks or so. If you're looking for professional help you might like to consider Mike or Maryanne, our residential migration experts (click on revolving ads above). You can contact either of them for free to ask whatever migration questions or concerns you might have.

We brought our cat out here - cost a small fortune but obviously worth it. She spent a month in quarantine in Sydney before flying up here and us collecting her at the airport. She was so pleased to see us that she wouldn't stop talking - obviously so much to tell us that we'd missed out on! By the end of the day she'd lost her voice, and I'm not joking :happynod:

Can't speak too much of Perth because I've never been there (all of it is by the beach, isn't it? After all, it is built on sand) but Brisbane's Redcliff is popular with the Brits, although I think the sea is a little tame there. Brisbane's a great place but it's a fair way from the ocean as it's built around a river. You have to go 100km north (Sunshine Coast) or south (Gold Coast) for lovely golden sands and waves!

Hi Jo

Welcome to the site.

Can't really help with your areas for relocation as we're heading off to Adelaide (fingers crossed) next year.

We're taking our dog with us - we've had a few different quotes - can vary anthing from £1,000 up to £2,500. So not cheap, but she's part of the family so she'll be coming along.

Wish you all the very best with everything.

Hey Kim,

Whilst talking pets and quotes, can you spill the beans on who quoted and their prices?

Useful info for other, I would think.

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi Paul

Apologies, still got my holiday head on :singingdrunk: . Will have to find where I've put the quotes, but I can remember we had one off Airpets - very thorough, it was for a cat and a dog though and came out at £2,500. That doesn't include the quarantine in Oz which is estimated at around AU$800 each for the 30 days and also all the vets fees.

http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs

The above is the link to the Australian Quarantine & Inspection Service web page - gives all the information on what is required to bring over pets.

Will find out where I've put the quotes and will add the rest of these on for you.

We went over on a reccie last summer and stayed gold coast, brisbane and sunshine coast. We loved many places especially the sunshine coast - the beaches are lovely too!

A buyer for your house? If only I could...

But yes, something different would be good. I'll start a new thread.

I really have my fingers crossed for everyone in the UK selling their house.
I've never known it so bad.

The system is awful as well, much better to have a cooling off period then you HAVE to buy or lose deposit like here.

At least the market here has slowed down in general .

Quality furnished ,short term rentals.2 beautiful houses,in Woodcroft and Seaford. "Home from Home"
