Hey, hey! You're out of the woods now! Welcome to the club Annette. Best of luck with everything. I know hairdressers are always in demand. Don't know too much about the army -one of my brothers was in the Aussie army for a while, stationed in Victoria, I think. Oh well, post away Paul |

Hi Annette Welcome to the site, great to have you posting. My brother is currently in the army (RMP - don't groan) and is looking to transfer either to Oz or NZ in the next 12-18 months. He's just been over to NZ for a few weeks and loved it and is hopefully going over to Oz in the near future for a visit too. What regiment is your hubby in? My father was also an RMP so I've grown up with the army! Where are you stationed? We've only just submitted our visa and are now doing the waiting game Wish you all the very best with everything. Hey all, Kim, Jo, Paul and (opps how bad, I have forgotten your name!!) This is why I dont post as I am terrible at it and I can offend!!!!! Well I thought I would let you know where we are at.....not far but a start. My husband (who is dental corps in army) has sent his paperwork .......loads of the stuff.....to Australia and now we are waiting to see if he gets an interview. We think that even if he does get through to the interview stage we probably have missed them this year as they are held in October at Australia house in london. So as you can see we are in it for the long haul!!! We estimate that it is probably going to take another 18 months to 2 years before we get to oz, however if this route does not work we will apply for our visas independantly when I have finished my hairdressing tranning and have done enough work experience, (i think if i have read the immigration website correctly, I will need a years experience) then qualify our visas on a reccie and eventually move there when my husbands 22years is up in the army in 8 years time!!!!!!!!!!! So we are in no hurry!!!(I would go tomorrow if we could, but we have a plan....and a back!!!!!) Anyway thats us, tell me your stories!!!!!! Annette, the hubby, the 9 year old, the 6 years old and the 2 year old!!!!

Hi annette! We started our visa process way back in Jan 2007. I'm a teacher so I'm going as the main applicant. Our first visa has come to a stand still as the oz gov have frozen the visa class at the mo because of some fraud investigation. That was Dec 07 - we waited and waited and waited! Fed up of waiting we applied for a different visa class in may 08 - yep had to pay visa and agent costs again!!! Oh and I had to sit an IELTS test! To prove I can speak, read and write english!!???!!Anyway we are on our way now with our second try at getting a visa. Hopefully it's only gonna be the housing market getting in our way now!!! I so thought we'd have been there by now. But as I'm told ... Good things are worth the wait! Good Luck! jo x

Hi Annette How's things going your end? Did OH get his interview? I think they only recruit once a year don't they - from what I can remember that my brother has told me. He's getting all his paperwork in for NZ - got to be done by 18 Jan so he's busy sorting all his stuff out - he's just completed his 23rd year - just been given an extension to 2010 so he's hoping to be going then. Our 175 visa was submitted on 11 August - so now we're in the long queue with everyone else waiting! Hopefully this time next year we should be on our way (fingers crossed). Kim x |
