Some of you might be lucky enough to be working towards receiving a private pension from the UK. Trouble is, you can't get it over here that easily seeing as you'll probably need the services of an actuary.

If any of you are at all concerned about how much it will cost to transfer it to Australia I've got some good news. I've linked up with a UK Pension Transfer company and managed to get them to give free advice through the sister site Koala Konnection. Vince Molloy Cert PFS, Technical Manager of Prism Xpat, will help out anyone with free, professional advice. Cool! :)

Go to Vince's web page and ask whatever you need to know.

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

I've got pension fund I want to transfer from the UK to OZ. Can you explain why I would probably need the services of an actuary. Can't I just transfer the fund to a QROPS in OZ? What service would an actuary provide?

Hi Billy

Well that's really interesting. I'm no expert in this field but I have been told it's 'the law'. May be worth asking Vince that same question Billy.

Might it be the case that an actuary is still used in the process you're suggesting anyway?

Probably needs to be investigated further but I'm 99.9% sure that to transfer a pension from the UK to Australia does require using the services of an actuary. I'm happy to be told otherwise. I'll contact another specialist working along the lines you mention and see if they can offer any advice.

Thanks for your question. Just wish I had a better answer.

Paul.
