Hi,

My daughter Grace currently goes to nursery here whilst I'm at work. Just wondering if anyone has an idea what the average price is for nurseries/kindergartens? (We're hoping to head to Adelaide)

Any info is much appreciated.

Hi Kim,

I'm not sure of the price of nurseries as my son was 4 when we emigrated across, so I was able to put him in kindy.
From the age of 4, your child is allowed 4 sessions a week in Kindy. This maybe a full day (taking up 2 sessions) in some Kindy's which is great to give mum a break.

I live in Adelaide and have settled in Hallett Cove. My son went to Hallett Cove South Kindy and then went up to reception at the primary school when he was 5.
I can strongly recommend the school and Kindy. Its a small school which I like as all the kids and teachers know each others names, and there's a sense of community with this school.

There are plenty of playgroups around too for younger children. These usually require a couple of dollars admission fee to cover insurance and tea/coffee.

Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you about costings in private nurseries.

Hi Judi

Thanks for that - brilliant just what I needed. My daughter Grace will be 4 by the time we get there so kindy would be great. Will definitely look at playgroups - as a way for us both to mix and meet people :D

If nurseries are too expensive might hold off work (if I can afford) until she's ready for school. Its lesser of two evils here - nursery costs me a fortune, but then I have to work - so can't win either way. <_<

I've looked at all the areas around Hallet Cove, Reynella etc not sure where we will settle when we get there, will have to see how we feel once we arrive.

Thanks again for that info, appreciate it.
