Hi

I'm Rachel (37). Married to Martin (36) and we have two girls aged 7 and 1. We have decided now is the time to get the ball rolling with something we nearly did 11 years ago!!!

Initial enquiries seem to suggest we have sufficient points on the skilled migrant visa....we would also have possibly the added advantage of family sponsorship....as my birth mother lives out there!

There seems to be a whole minefield of information to trawl through and we want to maximise our chances so first thing to do is for hubby to finish the exams he never actually took 18 years ago.....although he has been working in his field all these years....found a 2 day course where he can do that and be classed as a fully qualified coded welder (boilermaker) which seems to be an occupation in demand....

Hi Rachel

Like you - we looked into this donkeys years ago - really wish we'd followed through with it instead of waiting until now! Hey ho, at least we're doing it now - better late than never :D

We're going on a skilled migrant visa - OH is a carpenter/joiner - we've just submitted the first stage of his vetasses and hopefully should hear back within the next couple of weeks! Then if all is well OH just has a practical to do (I make it sound so easy don't I).

Hope all goes well for you.

Vetasses submitted 23.04.08 - passed 28.05.08 - practical done 21.07.08, passed 07.08.08
175 Visa submitted 11.08.08.
