Hi everybody!

I'm new & this is my first post, My fiance & i have wanted to move down under for some time, Now we've finally decided to get the ball rolling, I'm 27 & a qualified vehicle body-fitter technician in a BMW main dealer bodyshop(accident repair shop), I'm also BMW approved too. My fiance is 26 & a secondary school teacher.

We were hoping to be able to move there (if accepted of course!) sept/oct 2009 so we should really get our skates on if we want that to happen as we've heard it takes longer than ever before to get visa's! We were wondering if anybody has used or is using an good agent to help them along, We've heard of a team called "The Emigration Group" who reckon they've got a 99% success rate, Has anybody heard of 'em?

Anyways i'll sign off now, good luck to those applying at the moment & congrats for those who have just obtained their visa's!

All the best Karl.

Hi Karl

Welcome to the site - like you we're at the start of our process - OH has submitted all his paperwork to vetasses so we're just waiting to hear of thats been ok'd. Fingers crossed. I've heard visa times have extended - reckon a skilled visa is now taking anything up to 9-10 months to come through - gotta get used to this waiting game! ;) Before we even apply for this visa we've got to go through the vetasses stuff which will take a few months. :( Seems never ending - but definitely worth the wait.

We're using Visa-Go - have been fantastic so far - we had loads of paperwork off the Emigration Group, but other than that I can't comment on them. We went an emigration seminar and I met up with the bods from visa-go - found them very approachable and the quotes/paperwork they sent me through afterwards was by far the best, so we decided to go with them. Think I would still be trawling through the vetasses paperwork now if I didn't have their help!

Where are you thinking of settling? We're aiming for Adelaide - like you hoping to be there by September 09 at the latest!!

Any way good luck with everything - keep us all informed. :D

Cheers for that Karl.

We used the Emigration Group. They do have a 99% rate and they were quite efficient, although I would say that in our case we seemed to do a fair amount of the work - perhaps we would have done with any agent. It took a little over a year plus the time taken to sell the house so about 2 in total. We went with them because they were local, but on reflection our case was 100% water-tight. They opted for us to select a family route (I already had family in Australia) as to them it was easiest (and obvious). In the end we decided we wanted to try a skills route rather than the family, as involving family that were struggling with other matters at the time and didn't need the extra stress of migration paperwork, seemed unfair and unnecessary.

Upon reflection we should have got several quotes from other agents to assess their EG's value, as I'm sure we could have saved a few quid.

Some agents have a 100% record and a money back feature if your claim fails.

Welcome to the forum.

Paul.

Hi Karl
Welcome to the site!
We've used Go Matilda - so far so good. But I'd agree shop around first.
