Hi Information We are looking to move to Aus in Late Sept.......(fingers crossed) Caloundra area We have three children 4 2 1 and the OH is an Electrician. WE are looking for a short term rent of around 4-6weeks and as long as its child friendly we are opened minded as to a caravan site to a private rental. Can anyone recommend childcare for the children when we need to look at long term rental..........what is the rental like in Caloundra.....is it a rat race.... Soooooo if anyone can help i would be grateful.... Also does anyone know what the job situation will be like for OH anyone know of companies who are looking for Electricians etc....any information would be great.....had our medicals and am just waiting on the ok before we want to start the ball rolling. House sold,,,,,this end so am looking at booking things in advance to ensure a smooth transistion. Also reading that furniture is taking longer than 6 weeks to arrive....is this the normal..... <_< |

Hello 'the weekshousehold' Let me be the second to welcome you to anldu. Congratulations on chosing Caloundra. It's a popular place and, if I say so myself, quite a nice place to live - lots of different beaches, a real town centre and the closest to Brisbane of all the coastal towns on the Sunny Coast. The Koaka Konnection site will be adding to its small listings of accommodation quite soon I'm sure. Rentals are the domain of real estate agents in Australia, for the most part, so you can always contact any that you come across on the net searches that you'll bound to do. Child care is another issue and one I cannot help with because I know a nothing! Sparkys are sought after. There will probably be a little re-training or re-educating prior to full qualification but I doubt its anything to fear. They really like to look after electricians in Australia. I'm surprised we can fit plugs! On the job front try www.seek.com.au Furniture. Ours took about 6 weeks from memory. It depends how long it sits in the UK I suppose. If you're sharing a container that won't help, and customs is a necessary bind. Yes, I'd bank on 6 weeks at least. Do you have a name? Paul. |

Big welcome to the website folks.... Shipping: ours is going today in a shared container and we have been told will take between 8 - 12 weeks to get to Brisbane. Friends who are having a sole container are also being quoted the same timespan. As we dont leave the UK for another 6 weeks, it will have had a good headstart. |
