Hi all

I see from some of the earlier postings that August seems to be a popular time to come over to queensland.

good info on the Casablanca apartments but what's everyones experiences of flights, stop overs etc.... furthest we've flown is to the Dominican republic

does'nt appear to be any deals in August. I know a daft question , does anyone know of any ?

just trying to get a ball park figure to work with. flights and accommadation for 4 people and I would think car hire would £6000 cover it ?

It depends if you are after motels/hotels... here is a link for the motel chain we used..the staff were great and it was a bit like trusthouse forte about 10yrs ago - but with a pool. It was very very clean, but because we werent staying longer than 2 nights anywhere, it was handy. The manager would telephone on for us to get us a room (good business practice i know) but it also took some stress off us knowing we had a bed to sleep in as we were travelling.

Ours was a true rekkie, so we didnt do the australia zoo or theme parks as we were there to plan and see.

Flights - we had a half hour plane change in dubai and a half hour stop (without being allowed off the plane) in Singapore. I wish we were able to have a stop over this time on the way, but we cant due to having to make sure we land before July 1st due to the citizenship changes.

£6k is ample, we had the same budget and came back with tons of money.

Alan,
if you and yours get the chance for a stop over in Singapore, go for it. It will break your flight time up, also you will all love it.

Me and Kath are thinking of a 2 night stop in Singapore, when we fly out (one way trip) to QLD early June. We loved it last time we were there, a few hours was all we had.

Hiya Alan

Not sure about August but we are going the end of May for 3 weeks and I have managed to book

2 x flights Edinburgh Melbourne
4 nights Travel Lodge Melbourne
Flight Virgin Blue Melbourne to Brisbane
7 nights Metro Hotel Brisbane
4 nights Travel Inn Sydney
Flight Virgin Blue Sydney to Melbourne
2 nights Sebel & Citigate Melbourne

all for £2500.

We only have to find accommodation on the goldcoast for 3 nights so should do the lot - 3 weeks - for around £3000 for 2. Maybe dearer in August but might give you an idea.

On our return trip, we landed in Singapore at 05:30 and did not fly out 'till 23:45.
So we had the day in Singapore, what a place.................. :D
