I think it was 5 or 6 months without rain that the locals kept telling us when we first come out here in late 2004. Everything was golden, yellow, dry.

Since then the rains have kept the fields green around here, although apparently the rainfall's nothing like it once was. Hence we are officially in a drought, even though it doesn't feel like it. However, head inland about 20 miles and it's a different picture.

Bring the rain with you Dave. You'll be the most popular bloke in Australia!

Getting all direct debits and stuff cancelled, informing various authorities, booking removal company (ANGLO PACIFIC), searching for one way flights to Brissie, and looking for some digs in Brissie. :P

Oh, and abusing the hell out of my keyboard.....

AND COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS....... :D :D :D :D

We counted the days too this affy - how many days until we ship (May 15th), how many days until we finish work (June 1st) and how many days before we fly (June 24th)

Cant do DD's/STO's until we have a date for completion. Wont take too long I hope, got all paperwork sorted this morning on the back of you two doing stuff like that. So I have a nice pile ready to ring.

Another trip to the tip with a car load of stuff - cant believe what we have saved, but then again its horrible seeing our home so sparce!!

Ditto the keyboard abuse - hungry for info now and it all seems strangely relevent.

Oh - you need to let me know how you get on with Anglo Pacific - we were talking to them at the Emigration Show in Edinburgh - the guy was really nice so we thought about them when time comes to move

We werent too keen on anglo pacific when the guy came round. We had heard negative things about them previously and tried to cancel the appointment, but couldnt find a number as they hadnt sent us one.

The other companies we have had round knew where we were going, whereas AP had the wrong destination and even had the wrong names... wasnt too happy at all with them.

Not a positive post, but our opinion.

My cousin has booked with them to ship their stuff though, i suppose its how you feel with the sales rep too and how much faith he emulates.

We are waiting for a final lot of quotes from a brokers this week, then its either one of them/crown.

Crown are winning for us up to now.

Anglo Pacific were the best that we had round, but like Cath says, each to there own. We have had no worries with them so far.

So now we get this thread back on track................

The weather.

Today sunny and quite warm. Me and Kath sat in our garden, with a drink, about 17:30, (Well deserved, spent this morning at a car boot, selling!!!!!) I say to her......."we will have to get used to this weather????" She replies........."yes, but it is getting dark now in QLD!!!!!!!!"
So then, we will have to get used to no longer having sunny evenings sat in the garden.
Guess sitting in/under an entertaining area will not be too hard to adjust too.
Roll on June.!!!!

Hmm good point - its been a little too breezy here to sit out today. But Paul, my son and my niece have been playing football in the garden..that was lovely to watch.

It feels wierd not buying all the regular summer stuff this time. I normally buy new garden games and bbq stuff - had to walk straight past it when went shopping this morning. Felt really wierd.

Is that moderating Dave? Another "back on track" warning? :D

We didn't do a carboot sale - we opted for throwing the stuff out on the driveway and letting locals just walk past. It's amazing how quickly word spread around the village. We sold a fair amount of stuff but the bargain of the day had to be our diesel 205 - something that needed quite a bit of work to make it pass the next MoT and what was the point anyway? It was painfully slow too. Sold for 50 quid!

Back to the weather then. Here's what you do. Get up very early in the morning and go for a walk, cycle or jog. Then go to work. Then come home and spend an evening wherever. You can always turn an outdoor light on - yellow ones are popular as they appear not to attract the insects.

After two plus year I still can't get up early enough... I simply can't get up early.

Getting dark around 6pm at the moment.

Actually I lied. Not intentionally, but I noticed last night it was darkish around 5.45pm! But yes, it does get lighter quite early Dave and warmer too. I could feel the intensity of the sun this morning at 7.30.

It's going to be anywhere between 25 and 28 degrees this week. Sunshine all the way. So no clouds, which means cool nights, dipping to around 8 - 12 degrees at 6.30am (generally the coldest part of the day) before it starts to warm up again, very quickly!

You're going to love it!
