Hi everybody! I haven't been on here for a while, but some of you may remember me, or have indeed been corresponding with us. Well, we have booked our flight for the 31st July (3 days after i'm best man at my bros' wedding!) so will ba difficult time. We have got the removals booked for the 31st May, should complete, fingers crossed early-mid June on our house and have set up a FREE google e-mail address ready, etc...so things are starting to fall into place, except for... * The exchange rate:- We are concerned about this, as it was as high as $2.54 in early Feb, but it has since dived to around $2.39, so a massive difference, especially if intending to exchange a large amount....however with the imminent almost certain interest rate increase here in the UK, along with the uncertainty re the election in Aus, hopefully we will see it improve again, although not as high as $2.54, I bet...Hindsight!! * Where are we goingt o stay when we arrive? Well, we were hoping we would be staying with my rels in the Glasshouse Mountains initially, but they aren't being as "forthcoming" as we had hoped, so if we do stay with them initially, it looks like we will have to ask directly nearer the time...so a plan "B" is needed, just in case... Rentals seem to be at a premium, we have even heard of tennants getting involved in auction like situations to secure one, great for the landlord! Also, some employ a points system...www.homehunter.com.au seems to be about the best for rentals, so we were wondering has anybody else got any tips/in a simular situation/thought of an alternative (apart from what has already been mentioned/renting temp. holiday flats/a motel!)? Regards, Jamie. |

we have booked in here for a week when we land... and if its avail they have said we can stay on longer...but there are cheaper places on the coast for rentals...its just that we didnt want to be reliant on family/friends to avoid any initial ratiness after the flight - jetlag and i dont mix too well and wouldnt want to be snapping at people unnecessarily. In the meantime here is the house we are renting..they do an airport pick up and provide an initial food package for the price...its a 10% depositi fully refundable up to 21days before. so if you book it you will be able to get your money back. http://www.sadlershomestay.com.au/ Its not too far from the glass mountains either... i think he said about an hour max. which for us will be fine looking for property in mountain creek, mooloolabaish this may help: http://www.realestate.com.au/directory/ren...ast_region.html or this http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/sunshine-coast/ if i find anymore i will add them onto the thread for you. |
