Hi all

Tried posting a few months ago, not very successful so here goes again !!!!

Job application going well and fingers crossed I should have a firm offer of employment within a month or so ( medical and criminal check to go ) and then the process of a sponsored visa for me and the family.

There lies the snag ! two sons ages 14 and 16 not keen to uproot and live in Australia.

I need some good reasons why ??????? other than a better way of life.

please let your imagination go wild !!!!

we are due over for a hoiliday / investigation in August and I hope we can see enough of the sunshine coast and brisbane to persuade the kids but I would appreciate any extra help.

Thanks

Alan

Do they like football? Sorry, do they LOVE football? Because if they loathe it, great! It's a minority sport over here. Hardly a reason to move but it's the truth. Sorry to all those reading this who love the game...

Acne clears up better... salt water and sun... :D

They'll be "taller" and "bigger" in Aus. European kids are generally taller than Aussie kids. Weird, but noticeably true. Well, you did say let your imagination flow!

Web cams really have a use to keep in touch with old school chums.

They'll be 6 months ahead at their school work.

The driving test is easier (obviously not a good thing, but in the eyes of a teenager...)

Paul.

alan - we have a 16yr old and an 11 yr old who arent looking forward to the move either.

We have promised them tickets back when they are 18 - paid for by us...the reason for it being the 2years is so they can get citizenship and come and go as they please after. I ahve also said they can go to uni in the UK if they choose to.

They throw it at us regulary that it is our dream and not theirs.which it is, but i point out that it is their future we are thinking of too. There are not too many kids who can have job opportunities in two countries. There are many doors open to them rather than just UK ones. The world is their oyster careerwise.

We have also allowed our 16yr olds friends to book flights over and stay with us. They land 6weeks after us for a month. Then its grindstone time Im afraid for him.But his friends were the ones i targetted to get them onboard rather than our kids. A few late night chats at sleepover parties worked wonders. Plant the seed of emigrating to his/mates and let them do the talking for you. You will see their eyes become glazed as you tell them about what australia has to offer. i even showed them photos on the laptop. One of his friends is getting a career sorted to be able to emigrate now....she is only 17. But the seed was well and truly planted.

I hope you find the peace you are looking for with them. I totally empathise with you so good luck and let us know how you are going on.

Hoping to show them the sites when we come over and let them see what Australia has to offer !!!! or a cheaper option when either you or airconkid win the dvd is borrow that !!!! serious competition then ??
