we have booked a short short term let for when we land dave - have a look at the house on the front of this forum. it was a reasonable price and had an airport pickup free with it plus a landing pack of food ie bread milk tea coffee. I rang them yesterday to confirm the booking Leigh and Tim who own the houses are lovely. It will also give us time to look for a longer term rental as we want to rent to make sure we are happy where we are going to settle before committing to buying. What are your plans dave and kath??? |

we could post our experiences on the forum after... I am landing with a pre-prepared home with airport pickup and you are landing and then finding somewhere. We could do a joint comparison for people??? |

Hoping to be flying out 26 July and staying in Brisbane for 4 nights, then onto the Sunshine coast for another 4 and then onto the Gold coast for the last before flying back 10 Aug. or at least that s the plan. Because we didn't book earlier, having a bit of a nightmare trying to keep costs down. looking at about £6000 for flights, apartments and car hire. so the plan may well be slightly revised. just finished working nights and with no sleep been on the computer all day looking for alternatives. I'm sure it will be worth it. |

Wow! Alan, that's some holiday budget. I guess ALL your family are coming out. There's a place not too far from the airport that does cheap car hire. I can't think of their name right now. When I do I'll pass it on. Friends of ours used them and said they were ok. Every little saving helps. Who are you intending to fly with? Paul. |

Paul The quote was from a company called Freedom Australia, flying with Malaysian Air and Staying a various 3 star apartments plus car hire. I have also approached Austravel after seeing them recommended on the forum and they are working an alternative price and I think they are quoting using Thai air. I have tried pricing it individually but the flights are £1100 plus each. but you're right every little does help and I would appreciate any alternatives. We did seriously consider just me and Claire coming out but it defeats the object as we need to sell the whole idea to the kids and August is the only time we can come over. |

I understand where you're coming from with the kids Alan. The car hire company I was trying to think of is Abel. http://www.abel.com.au operate about 2kms from the airport. Friends used them and said they were the cheapest they could find for the type of car that they wanted. Good luck. Paul. |
